Lost keyboard backlighting - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

After I installed Hermes_WM6_WWE_vp3G_v3.62.3_ATT_Full the backlighting on the keyboard no longer works at all. Ive checked the button settings for the backlight and have tried witht he sensor on and the sensor off.
Is there a fix for this?

For a short time I had the backlighting back but after a sync or a program install I lost it again, is it possible the HTChome plugin is causing a problem? I think that and birdiesync are the onty things I have installed since it was last working.

SPV M3100 keyboard backlight, does it have one or mine dead?

Hi,
I got my Orange SPV M3100 on Friday and already i've noticed what i think is a hardware fault. Not a big fault and i totally love the phone (Skype over wifi an encrypted connection works perfectly), but i'm worried as the phone is only a day old.
The first few times i opened the slide out keyboard I thought i noticed a nice blue keybourd backlight come on. I say thought as i can't find any reference to it in the manual. However whatever i now do, i can't get it to come back on. I've installed a few applications, but i doubt they would have caused it to stop working.
I don't suppose anyone else out there could tell me under what situations the backlight should come on (or if one exists), so that i can test it, and if it doesn't come on, i can phone up and get a replacement sent out. Its not a big problem and i can still use the phone, but you don't expect hardware to die after only a day.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Neil
there's a small hole in the top right of the keyboard. This is a light sensor. So, if light's on your keyboar led will be off, and if it's dark your keyboar led will be on.
you have to press a button too before it comes on iv found.
there is a setting for it as well somewhere to turn it on
Thanks for the advice guys, but the keyboard still doesn't light up if i open an application that asks for text to be entered and then slide out the keyboard in the dark and then press a key. Looks like my light sensor has died. I've just phoned Orange and they are sending me a replacement for between 6 and 10pm today (what fantastic service!).
Same issue over here
Hello I am experiencing the same problem over here.
It worked for the person who sold it to me and now it does not anymore.
Do you know if this is an HW or SW issue ?
Any other cases around?

seems I have the same problem. i'm on orange and the light was working now it doesn't.
EDIT: no i dont have a problem. I went into a dark dark room and then typed something and it worked. if i cover over the "light sensor" with my finger and press a button, it doesnt work.
Indeed
Indeed I had a wrong interpretation of the function of the sensor:
The sensor works in the following way:
If it is dark AND there's a key pressed AND the setting in "Settings" is set to enable sensor THEN keyboard backlight is turned on if no light in evironment.
If the setting in "Settings" is set to enable sensor THEN keyboard backlight is turned on AS SOONS AS you press a key.
A little dumb from my point of view: if I slide the keyboard in the dark, is it to look at it in the obscurity? The simple sliding should turn it on by night.

I've noticed that the backlight on mine (Vario 2, it's a red backlight... urgh) doesn't come on all the time if it's dark or dusk-level, which is really annoying. Sometimes hitting the tab key brings it into life, but sometimes it just doesn't come on at all.
One of those 'temperamental', 'great idea in theory' designs methinks.
I also found out that if the turning screen backlight off on inactivity is disabled, then every time I slide out the keyboard, its backlight is turned on.

Buttons not lighting up

Can anyone shed any light on why my buttons, just the ones on the unit itself, aren't producing their lovely orange glow anymore? The d-pad light still works, but the OK, Win & browser buttons are dark.
The only thing I could think of was that I installed SBSH, like everything because I'm fed up with Spb, so I uninstalled w/ several reboots. Still no go.
Maybe it's better that way. Less battery drain. It's not like I can't find them, but they were cute. My 3-year-old daughter loves the orange.
UPDATE:
I never did figure out what it was. Between booting up with PhoneAlarm, UltimateLaunch, MccMoblieFinder, LivePVR (which I'm not sure works) something crashed, so I hard reset.
I did figure out after my reset that the backlight doesn't actually go all the way off; when the buttons are off the screen is as dim as it's going to get (and now with rk-backlight, I am finally free of SPB - they lost thier robustitude with newer OSs and everyone else seems to have caught up with thier graphics, but with a smaller footprint.)
Does your backlight work? i always thought it was just the backlight shining through the buttons.
Well, no, actually I've never really thought about it.
Mine are off until the backlight comes on then they are on.
I noticed the other day that mine had gone off too, but a soft reset sorted it.

HI GUYS,
A late entry but tot u guys might b able to help a brother in need, my Ameo's keyboard back light never seems to come on EVER, & have check for setting or cab files but all to no success, can any1 help PLEASE either by just replying on here or PM me please :-(.
Umm, the ameo keyboard doesn't have a backlight???
Backlight off
there's rk-backlight.exe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328114&highlight=backlight
check the Settings/system/backlight
The backlight on a working x7500/1 doesn't actually go all the way off, the screen does (standby), and the buttons do when it's in it's more-or-less "off" state (the buttons are off, and the system calls the state "off" but it's just really low.)
If you can see the screen, but there really is NO backlight, my suggestions in this order:
a soft reset
install a backlight contolling software like rk-backlight & set it
a hard reset
a flash of a new rom
send it in to ppctechs.com for repair

Optical joystick keeps turning on

Hi there.
I have optical joystick switched off all the time, but sometimes it turns on by itself. I think some application does it, but so far I did not found which one.
Any idea ?
Got the same problem sometimes
and
my backlight dimming sets itself often back to 10 seconds (instead of 1 minute which I had set it to)
Anyone else has those problems ?
I can confirm optical joystick switching on.

I had the same problem as you, but it went away ever since I've got the new(R2) rom installed.
Don't know if it's some application that does it tho, because I've barely installed anything on my newly flashed phone.
optical joystick keeps turning on
Actually I have the same problem, the joystick keeps turning on by itself, even when turned off. My conclusion is that it turns on when switching to the Mediaxperience panel, using the panel and then switching to another panel.
I'm also looking for a solution for this.
even i had this problem... i tried changing the panels but it would still happen. i then set my joystick to lowest sensitivity in the settings. its been almost a month and it has not happened since.
i think its a issue of some dust or moisture settling below the joystick on the circuit board and causing it. try setting it to the lowest setting.
I'm fairly new with the xperia, have it one week now. Of course I try everything out, and it's just switching back on after switching to the original MediaXperience panel. Maybe Sony has programmed it to turn back on with this panel to benefit the optical joystick at it's maximum. Isn't there a registry edit possible to make it permanenty switched off?
anyone?...

[Q] Nexus 10 accelerometer problem

Hi,
I've got a problem with the accelerometer of my nexus 10, when I'm in automatic rotation mode the devise doesn't rotate automatiquely when I rotate it. And when an application force the portrait mode I have to desactivate the automatic rotation mode to go back in landscape mode.
Thanks in advance
Cyril
I believe GPS Status & Toolbox can re-calibrate the accelerometer (along with Compass, and get AGPS data), might be worth looking into
Fixed my screen orientation problem.
I spent a good four hours or so trying to figure out why my screen orientation wasn't working properly even after a reboot and boot into safe mode. I could only get one portrait with buttons on bottom and had to rotate an extra 30 degrees or less than 1 degree to cause it to flip between landscape orientations. Loaded up Google Skymaps and the Horizon was off by about 30 degrees in landscape, but fine in portrait. First went and downloaded Android Sensor Box and found the X-axis would run up to +15.5 and only -3.7. Anyways the calibration reset in GPS Status & Tool Box 4.0.1 fixed it immediately.
Awesome call on that program espionage724 would have never found it if I didn't find this thread and your post.
Edit it came back although a combination of running the program and hitting the lock button seemed to fix it. This time the axis offset was reversed though. Probably an operating system bug and only seemed to come back after I attached an OTG USB cable so =/ ?
Same problem here
I have the same problem with a new Nexus 10. The rotation did not work in any application at any time. With the Sensor Toolbox, I see that the sensor is working to some extend. Recalibrating with the GPS Status did not change anything.
Is this a hardware defect, so that I should send mine back to Google?
If you happen to get the orientation working, I'd be happy if you share it with me.

Sensors freezing

I've noticed that since updating to 4.4 that my sensors are freezing.
I noticed it when I went to use SMS and the screen immediately switched to landscape and would not rotate back when I held the phone upright. I unchecked the auto rotate in the settings and it returned to upright. I also noticed at the same time that the screen was a little dark and was not auto adjusting the brightness.
From the phone I entered *#0*# to get the test page and on opening the sensors they where all stuck solid. Only the proximity would work.
Sensor Hub test shows the STM32 pass.
The only way to fix it is to power off and back on. A re-start does not fix the issue.
I suspect a hardware problem. Anyone else seen this before?
