It will show message box without text.
Minimize it. Use direction pad keys to move mouse around screen.
Use action key to left mouse click.
If you want to disable mouse, close message box.
Uninstallation
you can run registry editor and change value in HKLM\init back back to GWES.EXE.
If no, do a hard reset.
Be sure that you have backup - probably, you will need to do a hard reset.
Please test it!
Can you please explain for which devices and OS, is it for?
Thanks
yeah.
you must have point in making gwes,uh, something...
it is so close thing to core, that it may be useless for 99% users.
i am curious, why are you doing this?
Install something (what IS it anyway?) that's likely to need a hard reset? Not gonna happen!

Yes I read it. You still haven't said what it is, just that it's "based on Microsoft original stuffs" and that you might need to hard reset your device. If you want people to test your junk for you, you're going to have to provide a LOT more information than that.
i do "hard-reset" every now and then...
i did it again because of this testing gwes...
this is what i had after installing it (see the screenshot below), and i didn't get any "mouse" with the "mouse.exe"...
but the worst of all is that i still have no idea about what it is for....

Ok...I have tried several different cab file from every site...PPCGeeks, PDAphone...I have not yet found the file that will unlock and unhide the extended rom for the HTC 6800. Has anyone been able to do this yet. PLEASE HELP !!!!
You can use a RegEditor to unhide the ExtROM... but IIRC no one has unlocked the ExtrROM to edit it...
\\HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV\
change MountHidden=0, exit the RegEditor then Soft Reset
thank you to show us how2 do that. ;-)
I did the steps using PHM RegEdit.
Then navigate to the location:
\\HKLM\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV \
then change the value (default at 1) to 0.
I then did a Soft Reset -- but no joy. I don't see the drive. Thoughts?
I'm a COMPLETE newbie- but i think (from reading so far) you need to wait at least a minute for any reg changes to be committed before you soft reset.
Did you wait that minute?

Hmm -- well originally I sure didn't. However, I did the hack again and then waited.
And now we have JOY!! Thanks.
What can this extended ROM offer us?
Nothing until it is unlocked and we are able to write to it. Then it will offer a few more megs of ram to install apps tr you could set up your own apps you use to start like the Sprint customizations do.
I am trying to change some registry settings to do things such as 'adjust volume settings' 'adjust backlight settings' 'turn bluetooth on and off' etc etc.
I want to use mort script to make the changes but so far I haven't figured out how to make the changes take effect without a soft reset, even when making the changes with a registry editor.
Does anyone know how to do this so that the changes take effect immediately?
Any help appreciated.
two things:
1st: all of the things you mentioned above should work without a reset. the best thing to do is change the reg value manully and if it works with out a reset then you know the problem is in the mort script
2nd: If you know how to edit xml files then download this cab and edit the xml file how you want. this should help some
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RG6JZC33
this has a lot of apps in it you will be looking for the one that says tweaks
Thanks for the info irus,
Like I said, using a registry editor to change the settings does not take effect until I soft reset.
For example (and i'd appreciate it if someone could test this on their phone) changing the values in HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume...."Volume" and "Ringer" to 0 assuming it is not already set to silent does not actually turn the phone to silent until I soft reset.
Could someone please check this for me and report back.
BTW I'm using a Trinity (HTC P3600) with AX3L's LITE ROM.
Thanks in advance.
I tried it and it did not work, you sould try to edit the xml file in the program i told you about and try it there. when i get done with homework i will try it my self

I'm also interested in this theme. Does anyone know an answer?
Well, after I installed it, it doesnt default to Xt9 any more when I go to new messages
Sweet!
can't find this, can you send the link?
this is fantastic!
what ROM are you using ? will this work with any ROM (and ROM language) ?
i would appreciate the link also!
here is the cab file, it's actually just a registry setting fix.
HTC-DUAL-TOUCH-XT9-TO-ABC-FIX
The registry concerned is:
Code:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME]
CarrierDefaultTextMode=dword:0
(0 for ABC / 1 for XT9)
A friend gave me this link as I am also having a problem with the HTC site.
Enjoy!
oh my god it works !!!!
i cant believe how simple that was !!! thank you so much for the registry entry, i can use my phone to text again !!!
it's great!
this was the most anoying thing on my new dual.
tx a lot,
pirlone
Doesn't work for me
in fact it screws my device up!.. it shows the ABC being as the default input, but I can only type the first letter in each key, multiple presses just repeats the same letter
I guess I will have to reflash the OS.. otherwise I now cant use the text input on the keypad anymore!
works on mine. thanks, dtm for letting me know about this.
Maybe doesnt work on mine becos Im running the WM6.1 Nikki project OS ??
Anyone else that has installed this using this Version?
Can you help me? I am begiiner having Dual 2 days. XT9 is really anoying esp for NON english users. But I cannot fix it as it is described. Can you show me step by step what to do? Thanks

Hi, just copy the cab to the phone and install it. Maybe you need to softreset your Niki. (open the battery case, the reset button is left to the USB connector).
Cheers
Michael
I love this and it is working well for me. My only issue is when using the touch keypad software, when you type it highlights the letters and take a few micro seconds to move to the next so if I am typing a sentence, and press space,it deletes that entire word or atleast the last few letters that I typed :-( So the only way to solve this is not text that fast or use the hardware keypad.
Wow I noticed so many people reposting this when this was posted a long time ago.
Anyway, just wanted to confirm this is working on my wifes elf also
Finally there's something to kill XT9
Change Mode from ABC to XT9 or XT9 to ABC.
Hey everyone!
First, I wanted to start out thanking muzikfreakah for the link to the .cab file and the posting the Registry path that needs to be modified. I used these as a base reference for the work I completed on my phone. Instead of wanting to go from XT9 to ABC, I wanted to change my phone from ABC to XT9.
Initially I used PHM Registry Editor to make the necessary change to the Registry value you noted. Shortly thereafter, I updated my ROM to WM 6.1 so I had to reapply the settings manually. This got me thinking. Why not just create a quick .cab file for myself, saving me time in the future. This is exactly what I did!
Attached are two .cab's I created a while back (just never got around to uploading them). The first .cab (SP_Default_ABC_To_XT9.cab) modifies the appropriate Registry Key, setting it to 1 (defaulting to XT9). The second .cab (SP_Default_XT9_To_ABC.cab) does just the opposite, changing the value to 0 (defaulting to ABC).
Final notes before I part -
File Sizes: The file size of each of my .cab's is 1.07 KB, as it only contains the necessary Registry Key change. The link muzikfreakah provided brings you to "HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab". This file size is 20.76 KB, as it appears to use a more complex method of making the necessary Registry changes.Company and Application Name: After my .cab is installed, it will display in the Installed Programs list as "Seth_Polley Default_XT9_To_ABC" (or vice versa depending on .cab used). After installing the other .cab (HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab), the following is displayed in the Programs list: "Customization Customize_Tool".
In summary, either file will work for changing from XT9 to ABC. While 20.76 KB is nothing by today's standards, you can go smaller yet by using my .cab's (about 1/20th of the file size). Additionally, my .cab's provide a more descriptive name in the Programs list. Pick your poison! To 'install' the Registry modification, simply move the .cab to your phone, execute it, and follow the prompts.
Feel free to PM me if you have difficulties accessing/downloading the files. If you are concerned about using my files, feel free to open the .cab (can use an application like WinRAR) and review the contained "_setup.xml" file to verify this .cab will only make the changes I noted above.
Best Regards,
Seth

Hello folks,
I'm rather new to all of this, but I've come across a problem I can't seem to work out on my own.
I purchased a second-hand HP 910c, which had WM 6.1 but in French. It is also "branded" with Rogers software as well. I followed the instructions here to "flash" a ROM on the device which worked fine... but as soon as I boot up the device, it says that there are updates available for my device, and doesn't let me do anything else until I install them. Turns out the "updates" are in fact Roger's software installing on my device, and also UNINSTALLING other useful programs!
What I hope you can help me out with is - how do I disable that automatic update? I think it's called "IPAQ CUSTOMIZATION" or something like that?
Sounds like you've got some Canuck in your extended ROM! See if this works for you: hard reset, and as soon as you see the "updates available" screen come up, soft-reset. (It won't hurt your device, promise.) If I've guessed right, your device will restart but none of the Rogers software will be installed.
I tried that - it still comes up with "HP IPAQ CUSTOMIZATION" upon reboot.
Almost as if there's a file in a "Start-Up" type folder... but I can't go anywhere past that install screen to see...
Any ideas?
i think the only way to disable ipaq customization is to edit the rom initflashfiles.dat under OEM_Lang to take it out from start

Is there a tutorial around for that, or to get me started?
Also - I'm loading a ROM from here to change the language... does that matter?
gfinockio .. have you had any luck with this?
Yeah, sort of a fluke really. I updated to one of the 6.5 ROMs, didn't like it, so I went back to a 6.1 ROM from HP. That seemed to do it!
I think the key is to do a "full" flash of the ROM. You can't use the SDLoader method, because that just flashes the OS. Using the official update from HP, with the software, should work. There is a package somewhere on these forums that is a "hacked" version that ignores language as well. Take a search (I'd use "minutes" as a key, because that's in the thread!) and keep us updated.
What happens is the clean boot image has a link to the HP customisation program in the windows\startup folder. The way to avoid this program from running is hence to remove this link from the startup folder.
My way of doing this is to connect the iPaq to my PC before starting the iPaq. When the iPaq starts, the screen asking you to click to start the customisation will come up, but until you click, the program will not run yet. In the background, while you can't see it (the customisation screen won't give way to anything else), other programs including Activesync will still run. You can therefore, from the PC, explore into the startup folder and delete the link to the customisation program, all without clicking on the iPaq and hence before the customisation has a chance to run. You can then soft reset, and with the link removed from startup, customisation will not start.

Yeah, I tried that too... but if you flash again (without doing a FULL flash), it might come back on next reset, or for sure on next flash.
The good news is - it IS possible to get rid of it.
Windows Mobile Package Manager 0.0.2
Windows Mobile Package Manager will help you to create software bundles and install them on WM device unattended.
Currently, it's only early pre-alpha software, to ensure that concept is working. So, expect software crashes
Description:
The life of WM device, is hard. Constant ROM flashing, re-install everything, or recover from backup. Owning WM device for an year, I really hate to reinstall everything after new ROM flash, so i decided to make software that will capture the essence of "your device":
With this application you can create package, that will do those things:
Install software that you like
Restore application configuration / settings (via registry)
Copy your files to device (video / pictures / etc.)
How it works:
Every .cab file, have information about itself. What it's name, how it should be installed and where. This application WILL MODIFY .cab information, so that it will be installed to the path, that you want. This is done, to allow unattended installation. (maybe you have a better solution than wceload.exe /noaskdest /noui /nodelete)

Great Work... looking forward to see the "TODO" workin'.
good work, waiting for your next versions!
couple of suggestions:
- integration with XDAUC
- add \Internal Storage\Program Files
- auto-load last configuration
- fix the typos in: "Instalation path managment" => "Installation path management"

Registry import, is almost complete, file copy should be simple to do.
It will generate .cab file for your .reg file. This was the easy way to implement this. But there is a drawback.. it does not allow non-ASCII characters in registry section of the .cab setup.
Updated to 0.0.2
Changes:
* Added registry support.
* Added file copy support.
* Updated usage video.
Feel free to try it

hm, can you attach your .reg file that was not parsed correctly?
did you by any chance exported the whole device registry (ie registry backup?)
Provisioning xml files support
Would you add support for parsing provisioning xml files?
Great app! Are you planning to make a mobile version (for making changes 'on the fly')? Another superb option for mobile version would be backup! For backing up current registry entries (specified in a ini file - something like in this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491175).

1. Great!
2. I understand you but don't agree, that it defeats the purpose of this app. I would say it extends its usage (I can imagine, that I need it, but don't have my laptop with me... and this isn't only imagination - I already use some tools to do that). No doubts, that on a PC you can make it more comfortably, but...
3. I know and I use CeRegEditor often, but when I can use just one app... Another thing I can make a real up-to-date backup (many apps have their settings in registry and settings can change from time to time). This option would be great specially for the mobile version.
4. And what about restoring PIM backup (e.g. from PPCPIMBackup)?
I am a flashing junkie and I'm searching for such app for a long time (I wish I could make my own app, but I'm not a programmer).
I hope you understand 'my' english

2. Yes, but it's not the main use-case It's just adds additional overhead for the development, as you have to sync the mobile client and the PC client. If for example mobile client is used only by 2-3 people
3. I'm already thinking for a way to do that Probably via ActiveSync. So, for example in the UI you could define, what registry keys should be backuped, save this info in some config, and re-apply to different device. Again ,when you creating package, you can attach your WM device, and get those registry keys on the fly to the app. Something like.. live migration from WM device
4. Yes, this is good idea Again, goes well with the described above
Yes, I also like to try new ROMs.. and also was searching for something like this.. or at least the automatic .cab installation Didn't find app that suits me.. so decided to make one
I got some errors by restoring (copying) folders: e.g. "Could not find file 'Storage Card\CopyApplication Data' (when I want to restore Application Data folder).
Is it a bug or is just by me?
thx
Many Thanks
Thanks for this wonderfull application
I know there are some other auto installation programmes, but I find this program very simple and usefull. Please continue to develop it.
I only try software install software, not registry nor file transfer.
Up to now, I found a small bug :
During software installation (nearly 14 items) process, the information at the info page disappeared at the middle of installation. But after the installation finished, "Installation Finished" explanation displayed.
Could you please include a SETTING Page to select which programmes will be installed. For now, it can only be used during the first full installation. According to me, Selection option will be very usefull and make your wonderfull programme better and usage
Again my thanks and hoping to see new versions.
