I have an issue with videos on my Touch. Just recently I tried creating and watching a video for the first time. My photos and video folder is stored on my SD card.
I can record the video and it is in the right folder (the Touch can easily find it under videos), but whenever I try to play the video, Windows Media Player says "The source filter for this file could not be loaded".
Anyone know how to fix this problem?
Nobody?
screw windows media, just install TCPMP

I second that and if you can, get the latest Core.

Yeah, I've got it installed and it does work for these files.
Any way to easily make TCPMP the default app instead of WMP?
I would like to know why WMP won't work though. It bugs me when something doesn't do as it should.
in TCPMP, go into settings > file assoc. and select the ones you want. as far as WMP, i'm sure there is a relatively simple fix, but at the end of the day, WMP is still a completely useless player.
Thanks! I'll go and check that out.
Edit: One more quick question for anyone that knows. Even though I associate TCPMP with .MP4 video files, when I use the cube and select videos and choose a video that I've recorded and hit play, the cube by default brings up WMP to play the video. There must be somewhere in the registry where I can change this to default to TCPMP for playback right?
Hi guys!
I have recently tried getting TCPMP to work on TP2. Without any luck.
Firstly there seemed to be a problem with it running on WinMo 6.1. That has however been fixed in a thead somewhere here on xda dev.
I have tried all three of these fixes, and while they managed to get TCPMP open after install (Not get the crash.txt msg), it caused the TP2 to crash when opening a video file (even when trying to run the video that comes with the phone (my documents -> movies)).
Anyone know of any other solutions? because i have been searching but havent found anything to get this working.
Cheers!
same problem to me, I can't even play the video recorded with my TP2. It just hang.
its special TCPMP thats, working here. I have this functional, if you want to post it, just let mi know.

Make it so, please.
Why don't you use Coreplayer for playing movie clips?
I'm having not issues playing most types of movie file... Great player!
Probably because Coreplayer is not freeware.
TCPMP is the predecessor of Coreplayer
its here: http://www.digitwins.com/download/TCPMP-0.72RC1.zip

No luck yet
Thanks for the link, but is this version working on yours? At least I was able to open a video file (mp4) without my TP2 crashing like it did with other recomps I've tried, but the image is all messed up with green lines and **** all over the place...
Sorry, Im not using TCPMP for viewing pics. Didnt noticed that. And Im not gonna use it fot it ;-)

Hi there... i'm having problems to get work on tp2 a player that supports subtitles. Do you know anyone? Thank you very much.
Regards.
Coreplayer dont use in touch pro 2
Coreplayer dont use with processor touch pro 2. In the web of Coreplayer it ist possible reed.
Thank you and sorry for me english
I just use this app now works like a charm.
http://divx-player-mobile.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
It is not possible for me :
- Core player can't start, I don't see the app after pressing the icon
- TCPMP-0.72RC1 open, but the videos are not working, it crashes
Is it a problem of 3D driver or somethong like that?
Well I too am using Coreplayer and it works just fine. v1.3.2 build 6909 for ARM. Plays VGA .avi files perectly...
Had the same problem with TCPMP crashing until I unchecked "DirectDraw" in Video Settings (i.e. use GDI or Raw Frame Buffer).
twana, that is brilliant, I'd given up on TCMP having tried every version I could find.
Did you find out how to fix the blacked-out buttons in the toolbar?
Black buttons are caused by the theme you're using. And yes even HTC standard theme is causing this
Hello!
Thank you Twana, TCPMP works fine for me when I put "GDI" in the video settings!
It is great.

coreplayer/tcpmp
Selecting gdi/rawframe buffer in video settings is a must. Also check tools -> preferences -> file associations if you want them to play aac mp4 etc it must be checked there.
What are the player to play my AVI as i notice that it cant play my avi on wmp.
i use this - http://www.coreplayer.com/
however its commercial software.
im sure someone else would be able to recommend an alternative that is free.
Personally tried core player,it dropped frames. Played a Music video of 640*352 rsolution,24fps,.xvid encoded avi file, the result of first 45 seconds are like this-Played frame-25,Dropped frame-999. So how is that? I used the 1.30 version though,no idea about the latest version. I am selling it as soon as the Omnia Hd or Omnia 2 releases. I can't live without watching movies/videos on the go,so I need something where I will get the .divx and .xvid support out of the box.
Thanks.
I think it's a shame that CorePlayer don't do a demo since more than most software, you need to trial it before you know whether it will play your videos on your device, and no reviews or screenshots will ever tell you that.
Core media player (1.25) played a 23 fps 640*352 xvid (.avi) video file encoded at 133Kbps (about 90 minutes fo video in 700MB). This was downloaded as a "for PC" file and played like a dream.
Stu
I found that divx has a mobile player and it seems to work great for avi and divx files. I tried installing both coreplayer and the freeware version TCPMP player and both crashed when I tried to run. If anyone knows of a fix to either of them crashing please inform.
Heres the link to Divx mobile. http://www.divx.com/mobile/
Hi all. I'm using core player and haven't had any problems - vid playback is good. I did use the divx player for a while but somehow preferred core player. One thing I dislike about them both is the lack of finger friendly controls - always need the stylus sooner or later.
I'm also using Core player and it works absolutely fine for me...But I found that there are no controls and seek bar when in full screen landscape mode. As soon as I touch the screen, it goes to portrait mode. So to move the movie forward or backward, it has always to be done only in portrait mode.
Is this a normal behavior, or there is some bug in mine?
Core player alternative needed
Core player plays everything fine for me, but it is very non-intuitive. Making playlists in the old version, TCPMP, was as simple as selecting, etc. I have not seen this ease of use in the new version. The lack of any good documentation does not help either.
It may be that I just have not figured this piece of software out, but the new version takes the ipod and Windows media player approach. This approach requires that it must know where all your files are all the time and be updated each time you add new media, then you are willing to spend a lot of time setting up playlists. I wife bought it and never uses it because it is a pain in the a$$. It seems to have a learning mode, but this is really annoyong when you know what you want. I am not willing to spend the time required for setting up playlists in the required manner before getting in the car or going for a run.
A simple program like the old TCPMP would be greatly appreciated. They had a winner before.
MPlayer is not yet ready for prime time, but shows promise.
Any Player that supports subtitles?

Well, I have the same issue. Whether we're calling this a bug , or normal behaviour is maybe up for debate, but in the real world its pretty annoying.
What I really want is a media player that intuitively knows when to play in landscape mode, can browse files easily and has finger friendly controls ... and if it's free, that's fine too

CorePlayer works in landscape for me. When I rotate the phone, it updates to match portrait or landscape.
I think I had to force it to do this with G-Config.

Hi
There is a version of TCMP (search this forum) wich support srt subtitles.
I also use Coreplayer but I must say that if the user interface is better with Coreplayer, TCMP play the same avi files (standard 700 mb divx) much better than Coreplayer.
I think Coreplayer need more fine tuning to work right.
There seem to be some issues with coreplayer on the HD2. Couple of reports in the corecodec forums. Personally I can't play anything downloaded off iplayer - it crashes the phone and it needs a soft reset to recover.
Anyone else seen a problem?
heard you had to switch "play mode" - GDI or directdraw... don't remember actually, but have you tried it?
ah, found it.. from DD --> GDI (video output)

Yeah, my old version of coreplayer didn't work at all which was upsetting since it's a great player. Instant crash. I had to find version 1.3.6, that's working a treat.
I am using Coreplayer 1.30 for streaming the videos of myplayer 1.80. I have no problems at all.

HD2/myplayer/coreplayer
Hmmph. Hope this is the right place to post and that someone can help...
I wanted to get iPlayer working on my HD2 (T-mobile). Investigated various methods and got nearest with myplayer.
However, when coreplayer is invoked all I get is a dark screen with the player controls at the bottom, menu items etc, and a rotating-dots hourglass thing (sorry - don't know tech term for that). It seems to have loaded the duration of the stream but gone straight to the end of it (the position slider is all the way to the right).
I have set the video out to GDI.
I'm using a Wi-Fi connection (phone turned off).
myPlayer version: 1.080
CorePlayer version: 1.3.6 build 7427 for ARM
Sometimes in CorePlayer I get the following error and then the device locks up.
"File not found!rtsp://3gp-acl.bbc.co.uk:554/3gpclip/iPlayer (FFFFFFF8)".
Any ideas please?
HD2/myplayer/coreplayer
Hi All!
Similar to David Copus -[HD2/myplayer/coreplayer] problems. myPlayer starts up coreplayer but hangs on trying to load the stream video. I tried player through divx 0.9 also and asplayer
I have set the video out to GDI and RawFrame Buffer
I'm using a Wi-Fi connection
myPlayer version: 1.080
CorePlayer version: 1.3.6 build
Please help.
If there are also any support ideas on trying to run .avi
coreplayer and divx player run some but some files require AC-3 & some ATS or something? (Do i need to wait for coreplayer 2.0 or are there alternatives?)
Thanks
Any idea?
I seem to have the same issue as the above two people!
Coreplayer 1.3.6 working fine, using GDI, quite happy with that. However when I come to use myPlayer it just launches with a blank screen (although I can get certain "live" content to work - so far BBC News 24 and Sky News!).
Anyone any ideas?
(thanks)

Same here, except I'm using 3G and not tried RawFrame.
I've downloaded and played something via myPlayer, but if I try to stream I get the same as the guys above - it's as if it's jumped right to the end of the stream and therefore won't play. If I move the slider back to the beginning, I just get the "busy" animation ad infinitum.
Can't be doing with having to download everything I want to watch!

Guys, please help
I have an HTC HD2 and have successfully installed Coreplayer and MyPlayer. Every time I try to run MyPlayer I get the much mentioned error below:
myPlayer Exception
1.090
Execution error unable to invoke media player in the path:
\Program Files\SorePlayer\player.exe
....
________________________________
I have made the Video change to GDI in CorePlayer and it makes no difference.
P.S. I can only assume that the good people at CorePlayer are doing their very best to dissuade people from using their product. You need some persistence to get to the stage where you get their product on your device. Is it any wonder that iPhone and the app store is so successful?
I have been steaming iPlayer and several live radio and TV stations from all over the world with Skyfire - and over 3G! No problems at all
For CorePlayer use:
DirectDraw
Overlay format YUY2
uncheck all in DirectDraw tab
Most speedy for me about 2.7 Mbit/s

The error tells us that the core player application cannot be found at the location specified. Looks like a typo in the path.
I would suggest:
\Program Files\SorePlayer\player.exe
should be set to:
\Program Files\CorePlayer\player.exe
Best thing to do is to select "Other" and use the "..." button in myPlayer to find the application on your device.
Hope that helps!

Yes, Coreplayer crashes the HD2
Yes, me too. Got my HD2 yesterday. Stupid WMP won't play avi, so I shelled out for Coreplayer and the first 2 avi files I tried to play and it crashed the phone and had to do a soft reset. The files play fine on my PC.
Can't find any other avi player for the HD2 on the Net. Betaplayer and its variants are all versions of Coreplayer.
Any ideas, anyone?

I don't have CorePlayer, but assuming it works the same way as TCPMP, try choosing DirectDraw as your video renderer and YUY2 as your DirectDraw overlay format. Tick the "use device stretching" box and uncheck the others on the DirectDraw page. If all that doesn't help then change the renderer to GDI.
EDIT: as this post has been linked to a couple of times recently, I felt I should redraft it a little!
The full set of optimum video settings for TCPMP or Coreplayer (in my opinion) is:
- Orientation: left-handed
- Zoom: fit best
- Video renderer set to DirectDraw
- Smooth zoom to "on" or "always" (NOT to 50%)
- Dither on (for the times when you need to switch to GDI, e.g. for subtitles)
- In the DirectDraw properties, set overlay format to YUY2. Also tick the box that says "use device stretching when blitting" and untick the other two boxes.
Fix for Coreplayer avi problem
Fixed. The Corecodec support forum has the answer: go into Video Settings in Coreplayer, and change from DirectDraw to GDI. Both avi files play just fine now and the player is excellent.
Cheers,
David
And thanks to the people in this forum who made the same/similar suggestions. Cheers!
Hello guys. I installed core player and I am trying to watch a video but, I don't know why, the playing is very very slow, with the software displaying many times the icon of "waiting status"... unwatchable!
If I try with in-built windows media player the same file is good and smooth...
the file is in .mp4
I also try divx player, but the GUI is very small and the buttons too small...not good for me.
any ideas?
Thanks a lot to everybody in advance.
More information please - what version of Coreplayer, what settings?
if wmp is playing smooth then why would u need coreplayer! if u wanna watch flash from browser....get skyfire.
sorry for few info, but i was in a hurry.
Core player 1.3.6
I have installed also the driver patch 1.1 by chainfaire (if it is related...)
My rom as in signature.
Go to Menu>Tools>Settings>Select Page>Video and then change the Video output to GDI. That should fix your performance issues.
THANKS
thank you jakem.
Now works perfectly. There are a lot of settings and I don't know exactly what they are. Unfortunateky I haven't found yet a manual on the net
But anyway, great software. I managed also to rotate landscape with BsB the software. Did I do it right or there was a solution inside coreplayer? (because sometimes it gets slow with few framerates)
There is setting for rotation. It's in the main menu .. take some time experimenting.
Actually I found that raw frame buffer video mode is a just few percent faster, but I may just imagine things.
I'm having the same problem. Videos stutter until they are unwatchable.
I opened the same video in WMP and it runs without any lag.
I selected GDI in Core Player and still the same performance continues.
I have the ChainFire driver installed, would that be related?
This happened to me yesterday.
And ironically, the benchmark was ok! only the playback was horrible. Couldn't find out what caused it. I removed Chainfire's patch but that didn't help. Had to hard reset at last.
And by the way, I tried all 3 video output modes, no avail...
Coreplayer 1.3.6
