Call History

Does anyone know if it's possible to look at the call history file so that it could be printed out from the host PC ?
Would be useful when filling out expenses claims to list all calls which were business related.
Thanks
Call history
Im looking for the same thing. A way to printout the call history, does anyone know a way or prehaps the Call history file name?
The file name is clog.db in the databases folder. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that the databases on the XDA can be opened.
here are some options as to which programs on pc may be able to open the file with the db extention
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=db&goButton=Go
Thnx al lot crippsa and Rudegar, found the clog.db file and am able to open it with DBView.
Hi boeloe44,
I'm interested to know how you accessed the clog.db file with DBView. Is this the ARANAY DBView program ? (DBView V2) or another PPC application of the same name ?
I've tried the Aranay DBView which runs on the host PC and cannot seem to get it to connect to my XDA to read the DB files.
Any assistance you may be able to give would be appreciated.
Thanks
Alan
why not just copy the file to the pc that should make access a bit easier

Actualy dbview didn't help as i thought it would. I could only view the clog file with it and nothing else.
I found another program and this one did help me, its dbexlporer.

Here you can download a trail version
With dbexplorer you can export a database to a comma separated file. This file is accessable and you can copy the file from your ppc to a desktop pc and open it with Microsoft Excel.
This is my way for printing out the call history, hoop it helps you crippsa.
To Rudegar: I was unable to find a way to copy the database to my desktop pc. I think the databases are lock or something.
I use Phone Dashboard for this purpose. It also tracks usage overall with some powerful filters such as free mobile-to-mobile plans, night/weekend, etc.
Thanks boeloe44 - DBExplorer is just the job, exports all the fields including the contact name - just what I'm looking for.
Phone Dashboard is good, but you still cant print the call log on the host PC and also it does not show the contact name. It only shows date, time, number and length. Unless of course the trial edition I'm using has less features that the full copy.
I've noticed that the clog.db only holds 50 entries, does anybody know if this can be expanded ?
Thanks,
Alan
The clog.db file certainly will hold thousands of entries. You can change the deletion settings by going to the phone, then call history, click on the tools menu, call timers...
Thanks Carlos - I've since found that Phone Dashboard can export the log file but it still doesn't contain the contact name, which is a pity as having it saves time by not having to look up the number to see if it was a personal or business call.
Thanks for advising how to adjust the deletion time on the clog database.
Alan
I've passed a comment to Hudson Mobile Technolgies (makers of Phone Dashboard) to include the name field in future releases of Dashboard
That would be a good idea. Another idea I sent him was to include the contact's CATEGORY. Then I'd have "client" in the field and would know to bill it. Right now I simply sort in Excel and search on the known billable numbers. Not as accurate or quick.
Overall though, that product is a very nice one to have on my phone. It has saved me money when I've been close to going over my plan. I don't know how it is in Europe, but US carriers screw you on overage (35-40 cents per minute).

Adding number to existing contact ?

When you take a call from a number you dont have but want to add it, is there anyway to add it to an existing contact rather than have to create a new one and then copy paste ?
I have had more than one person who has phoned me from work or home and I have their mobile number so I then wanted to add this other number to their contact. The only way I can seem to do it is to copy the number when adding to contacts. You can only press ok then so it creates an unknown contact. Then you have to go into the persons details and paste the number and then delete the unknown number.
There must be a way to add a number to an existing contact right ?

Be nice to have the good old Nokia "Add to Contact" too, instead of just the "Save" that we have...
You can do it if you tap+hold, then select the "Send Text Message" and copy it from the Message Editor's To: line with another click+hold. When you close the message it not saved it if it's empty, so you don't have to delete it from drafts. Paste into the existing contact and voila... There you are, task done, but still thinking what a faff and why isn't there a "Save to Contact" context menu item...
Dox.
Quite a ridiculous oversight. Its not the end of the world, but not what you would expect from this kind of phone.
Just one good reason for someone with a poxy phone to laugh at you.
" You can stream online radio and connect to your home network, but you cant copy a number into an existing contact ? " ROFLMAO !
Yes, that and having to explain that they need to SMS the details to you rather than sending the contacts business card over SMS as your wizzbang all singing all dancing super phone can't handle SMS business cards...
Out of interest, is the Add to Contact issue the same on the Universal?

i guess this issue conerns overall Windows Mobile platform. let's tell the truth - devices such as wizard or universal are not the best as *phones*. i'd say, that most of 'classic' mobiles are far better in various terms over windows mobile based devices (i.e. cell broadcast handling, profile switching, add to contact issue, etc..). basically there's still lot of work to do for microsoft engineers in that matter. however as PDA it's one of the best if not the best of all platforms right now. so using pda+phone combined devices is always some kind of compromise - there are really stunning pda features but still some issues as a phone as well. personally, i'm quite happy of using such combination and i can handle some of these compromises..
Radio streaming
How do you stream radio then ?
What channels can you get ?
Sorry it's a bit off topic. :?

Get Resco Radio or there are some websites you can click on links to streaming broadcasts although that can sometimes be a bit more problematic and fiddley. Redco works gr8 though.
Out of interest is there any easy way to import loads if not all availabe online radio into Resco Radio as its a joy to use but maybe a bit limited in stations considering whats out there.

Custom Contact Fields

Hey,
Does anyone know if it is possible, through the supplied T-Mobile 2.26 ROM or third party software, to create custom contact fields? For example, say I want to have one contact called Papa John's Pizza and inside that contact have three fields named Anytown, Springfield, and NYC each with a number. As it stands now I have to either make a seperate contact for each location or have one contact and make each location say home, work, and work2. The latter choice makes it near impossible to remember which number goes to which office. I have many contacts that have multiple numbers that do not fit neatly into the supplied fields. On my old S60 phone this was quiet a simple task but I just can't seem to figure it out on WM5. Thanks for the help.
You can use IneSoft Address Book to add custom contact fields. The extra fields will be save as Note.
To mark a phone number you can put the text inside the phone number itself. E.g.
Work: +123456789 (Springfield)
or even
Work: Springfield +123456789
where "Work:" is the field name provide by Contacts application. You can use any character that can't be dialed (e.g. not a digit, * or #). Though some letters may cause problems, e.g. 'p' may mean 'pause'... I write my comments in Russian and therefore has no such problems
I use this solution for a long time. It is not specific to an OS or application.
And yes, IneSoft Address Book is good, not only for additional fields! This was the first application I purchased for my TyTN.

This would be really neat if Voice Commander 1.6 would recognize it, but it doesn't.

Challenge: link to specific contact

I would like to create a shortcut to a specific contact so that clicking on it takes you to the details page of that particular contact from where you can then choose how to contact that person (email, text, mobile phone, home phone, work phone).
So I've been messing with an lnk file:
1000#\Windows\poutlook.exe contacts ...
I tried -new as a command line parameter, and that works. I cannot figure out how to go to a specific contact. Then I found this discouraging thread:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa454208.aspx
There must be some way to do this. HTC Home has a similar function in their contacts tab. When you tap and hold a contact it takes you to that contact's detail page.
My end goal is to incorporate this into Mortbuttons ... I want a menu of favorite contacts, so when I click on any one, it takes me to the page where I can choose how to contact them. I'm surprised this doesn't exist, because that is the most intuitive way to do things. First you think of whom you want to contact, and only THEN do you think of how to contact them.
The challenge is up!
here's how its done
20#"\Windows\cprog.exe"-url tel: 0000000
that doesn't work. that calls the given phone number. I am looking for a link to a person's contact entry in Contacts. Please read my post above carefully.
I'd be interested in that as well. Anyone?
Wrote it already in my forum, but just in case...
I don't know of any way to do this from command line.
There is a way to show the contact page with COM/POOM (interface for programmers), which will be implemented in the upcoming MortButtons beta (probably tonight - CET).
It wasn't available so far because I still use eVC4 (because it's free and allows more easy support of systems up to including WM2003SE), which doesn't support new features of WM5 (like contact info page, contact image, contact ringtone, etc.) without some workarounds...

Group contacts

In the Sim manager there is an Edit Group but I cannot find anything that will let me add a group, is there anything that will let me group contacts?
My purpose is to be able to just select the group when I am sending an SMS and it will send the SMS to all the members of that group instead of me selecting all the contacts.
Thanks!
Someone has mentioned about PowerSMS on another forum but it is not free, anyone who has another suggestion?
TIA
Inesoft Phone
Dialer
Dialer makes the usage of the main phone features easy and quick: dial a number, send a message, search a person or add a new contact to your address book. Save your time using Inesoft Dialer on your Windows Mobile phone.
Video Tutorial
One touch
Buttons are big enough and the interface is designed so that you could type with fingers and not to use stylus. Make a call, send a new SMS, add any information about the contact in one touch
T9 Search
If you have a lot of contacts, use the search feature to quickly find a certain person. The information is searched through all the main info fields and through the comments or notes. That's why it is very easy to find a contact when you remember information partly
Visualization
Upload a photo for the each contact in your address book. The photo will be displayed when you receive or make a call. Photos will be also displayed at your Favorite list, after the successful search of the contact is fnished.
Connection notification
Making a call your phone will give a light vibro-signal, notifying you about the successful connection. Thus you do not need to look at the display and check the connection. Double vibro-signal will let you know that the number you are trying to reach is busy.

Don't just purchase the software because I referred this application, take the trial. I haven't fully tried this application in regards to categories...
I use GroupSMS, which is free:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354164
Works great on the Xperia. You determine the people in a group by editing their contact details and selecting their 'categories'.
You can't do this from manilla if you use it, you have to go to the old windows mobile contact view.
