Free program to monitor tasks/cpu usage? - Wing, P4350 General

Is there a free program for the Herald (WM5) to monitor tasks and cpu usage?
Greetings and thanks,

Battery Status
Search these forums for BatteryStatus.
It will not only show CPU usage but it will enable you to under/overclock your cpu (stable up to 273 continious) and has several usefull tools included.
Search these forums for X-buttom.
It will display the running programs (not tasks) and lets you swap and close the programs.
There's also a little tool for showing the tasks, but I forgot the name; did you already perform a search thru the forums?

I did perform a search but couldn't find anything. Maybe I wasn't looking for the right things. BatteryStatus looks nice but it doesn't show a per-process task and how much cpu each task is using. I'm trying to find out why sometimes my Herald seems to be draining a lot more battery then at other points. I found some threads on these forums about this problem but none seemed to give a solution to that problem.
Greetings and thanks,

MemMaid is what you might be looking for. It will show you all the apps that's running and the cp usage per app as well. I'm not sure of other apps out there, but I'm sure this app does this. Hope this helps

Hmm but this program is not free. There are really no free programs available that have similar functionality? It doesn't have to be flashy or anything.

Freeware task scheduler?

Hi. I am looking for a freeware task scheduler that I can use on my XDA2. I would like to be able to run an application every x minutes. Anyone seen something like that? Thanks
PHM Pocket PC Powertoys adds a Scheduled Tasks icon to the SETTINGS tab, but I can't see an option for adding a task. Perhaps it's a case of copyng a shortcut to a folder somewhere, but then how do you schedule the task? Perhaps I'm completely wrong and this Scheduled Tasks icon isn't like the Scheduled Tasks function in Windows after all.
something like this i think
http://www.pocketmax.net/alarmToday.htm
but it's not free
I use KitaraGenesis by Quench Software...I know the topic is FREE task scheduler but I think it's really good, and is only about a fiver in UK money.
Might be worth a look?
Ant
Anton, Rudegar,
Thanks a lot for the pointers. Will check these out. Take care.

Benchmark results??

Hello!
I have a Jamin and I am currently running SPB nechmark on it. I do so because I have installed a bunch of applications and I have the **impression* that it has become a little bit laggy.. If it is so I will remove the relevant application that causes the delay..\\Questions:
1. Does anybody know where can I find benchmark results on clean PDA (i.e. no apps isntalled).
2. Does anybody know any application that could identify which processes are eating processor power (like win task manager)
3. Does anybody know any usual suspect applications that might cause such delays (e.g. I have installed two today plugins - pocket weather and phone alarm)..
Best Regards
Evans

Use sprite backup (available on trial) for a good backup & hard-reset, now you can compare your own clean device & restore afterwards.

Today plugins usually slow down your device, do a benchmark without the plug-ins being active to see the diff.

Programs to Display the CPU loading

Are there any progaram like the taksman in XP that can display which running application using how many % of CPU?
Yes, try this task manager.
http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/ppcstuff.htm
It also shows CPU usage.
try this app:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5367
it is awesome...and looks impressive to your mates
phm taskmanager has the look and feel of Windows
Phm task manager is a good app but not wm5 compatible.
Moreover this app allows to hard reset your device, which is very dangerous. A hard reset will clear all your RAM.
I wish PHilippe Majerus (the fantastic developer) will update his app.
Hi Cizake,
I use phm on my wizard, and I didn't notice any problem. What makes you say it's not WM5 compatible?
phm task manager was released almost 5 years ago.
CPU accuracy is by far not accurate and I have checked it using several other apps. OMAP runs differently then other CPU.
Killing a process will cause a soft reset almost anytime - for example terminating poutlook.exe will crash your device. It does not happen when using more up to date tasks manager.
I dont have the same number of running processes on PHM as I have on other apps- why? maybe because of hidden files not showing on phm, but I am not sure.
I invite you to read some comments here on strange behaviour with WM5 :
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/fr/index.php?soft=480
It's in french but I guess it's not a problem for you
WOWO Thanks everyone
Hi,
there is an freeware application from AximSite written by DogFood.
It has a neat power and/or ram status as a 1 pixel liner on top and display CPU usage monitor on the bottom 1 pixel line.

Thanks for your input, I was not aware of this. I checked the forum you mentioned. You're right it was not too much of a problem for me
As for the bug concerning the process tab not showing up, I found a bypass. If you activate your SIP while on PHM, then the process tab appears. Strange beahaviour but I can live with it.
Anyway, I guess you're right maybe there are better apps for WM5. But I like PhM's apps because they are small and well to the point of what they are intended for. Like PHM Regedit !

is there a process monitor that shows all running processes and their cpu utilization?
thanks

Tasks software

Hello!
Anybody know any good tasks software out there? I searched and searched and couldn't find anything that suits me. Either too many useless additional features, or they simply look bad.
I'm looking for something like the old Memento on the even older Nokia 3310, if anybody remembers it, but more customizable. And maybe with a today plugin too.
My dream would be an additional Tasks tab in touchflo3d, but I'm guessing that will remain in it's dream state.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Take care!

Hi!
I have got 2 questions for you:
1) Do you mean a TaskManager to quit running programs or do you mean an application for tasks like Outlook tasks?
2) I don't know the programs you have written about. Do you need a kind of "Touch Task" app?
no, not task manager, tasks as in "to do" list. simple, plain task list. organizer style. like the built-in tasks application in winmobile, but more (MORE) user friendly. that one just doesn't do the trick for me.

I've been using Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion, but according to your question - too complicated with no convenient "touch interface". Now I'm using http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows_mobile_pocket_pc/calendar_touch
I'm interesting in other suggestions...

Unfortunately - yes, it is
Hi,
I've been searching for the same thing but haven't really found one.
I really like the Task2Gather https://task2gather.com/site/windows-mobile-task-management.html
But since they don't support offline mode it's pretty much useless...
They are working on an offline version but when I emailed them they are only planning for the Iphone version... Maybe if more people email them about the Windows version they will put more effort in it.
thanks, i tried calendar touch, but it still is too complex... nevertheless, it's not bad. and that task 2 gather... why only online? i don't see the point. shopping lists, ok, and what else?i'm not looking for a tool designed for bussiness agents or corporations, i'm just looking for a simple tasks list.
don't get me wrong, i'm not mad at you. thanks, anyway.
What's wrong with the standard tasks program?
I'm pretty happy with SPB Diary, which is a today plugin rather than a stand-alone application. It acts as a front-end for pocket outlook & tasks and is nicely customisable. It integrates nicely with SPB Weather and works best when combined with Pocket Plus.
Personally I've tried a lot of task organizers, I feel better with tasks shown in tree structure so I found an excelent freeware application for Pc "To-do List" (http://abstractspoon.pbworks.com/) that I synchronise with "my life organized" on my PPC (http://www.mylifeorganized.net/)
I hope will help...
task
Hello,
I am using that one : http://www.mabware.com/
Very simple, but very flexible;
i like it!
I've tried lots of calendars out over time and do you know I find thumbcal the best. The new version is fast and simple to use and looks nice and clean. The task page of it is a must have for me
thanks a lot for your feed-back. i can't believe that, even though i searched for something like those apps, i didn't find them. i think i'm going with my life organized. even though it's a bit more complex than i need, it has a lot of functionality. thanks again!
