I've been getting a little annoyed at the lack of storage space on my 2GB miniSD card in my Wizard. I was going through the registry of one of the three Wizards we have to make some changes when I discovered:
\\\registry\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\SDHC
It has a driver reference and other interesting (or not so interesting bits).
I was wondering if anyone with some technical knowledge has take an look at this to get HC cards working on the Wizard.
I wasn't too sure where to post this so I hope it is ok here.

Someone posted that this has been enabled in some ROMs I dont have a SDHC cards to test it. But it looks that this option has been always in WM6.
I have a 4gb SDHC kingston and untill now I'm not found a ROM that my card work. I'm using now TNT 1933 but I can change for another with this registry line if help.
Remembering that the Universals with some WM6 are capable to read SDHC. A developer here in XDA found a way.
I have hope. And faith. SDHC will work on my 9100.
p.s. Sorry my english. I still learning.
Well, I hope that someone will manage to get something working. All I need to do now is trawl through the forums to find out how to get my G4 device upgraded to WM6. I've missed a lot in the last 6-9 months!

As far as i know is the SDHC key for the sd host controller.

Hi,
My Hermes cannot anymore find the memory card: "Not installed".
How can I fix this?
The problem started when I interrupted a syncronisation to Win Media Player 11.
I have tried to soft reset the Hermes both without and with the memory card but whitout results.
?
Because the time in Sweden is almost two in the morning I will go to bed now but will check any responses as soon as I can.
/Danne
Have a read of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324. There are various fixes for this problem.
Ok, but how?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply and with a solution! I am not shure I have the exactly same problem, the Hermes doesn´t even find a directory folder for the memory card, but I want to try the solution proposed in the thread you sent.
But I don´t know WHERE I should do the hack and how, just write the below?
Is it here somewhere? "Settings / System-flap / ?
THE SOLUTION
"After working at the issue for a while, here is the end results:
Do the following reg. hack (numbers are in DECIMAL!
hex equiv. is 0x2004):
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]
"PNPUnloadDelay" = dword:8196
[HKLM\System\StorageManager]
"PNPWaitIODelay" = dword:8196"
/Danne
You need to download a registry editor (eg: PHM RegEdit) to make these changes. Search the forum... cabs have been posted many times... or google it!
Hope this helps!
OK
I will try that, but not today, it seems as that may take a while to fix.
Thanks, both of you!
/Danne
actually, once you get the registry editor, it takes only a couple of minutes...
Hmm... my experice is that that nothing EVER take only a couple of minutes when it comes to computers
Is it the memory card that needs to be fixed or, is it the memory card specifically in connection with my TyTN (Hermes) only? I´m thinking about selling it and need to know if the buyer needs to fix this first.
I already ordered a larger Kingston memory - I noticed that people in the other thread seemd to think they were more stable, but I don´t know who to trust. I have gotten a lot of help from this forum and it is great (!), when I learn more I hope to give some back. But I know companies pays people to sit all day and recommend products in forums like these .

Get the trial here and the software only costs approx $25. Give it a go and purchase if you like. I thought others may be interested in this so I did a little research. ;-)
Enjoy!
Edit: I tried installing the trial onto my SD card and also the main device memory. Both times the software locked up my device. Didn't work well for me. If you have better luck please let us know. Install at your own risk. I'm hoping it didn't make the device unstable. I'll post an update if I notice any adverse affects.

mine one is 1.0d version for Athena
fantastic not bad recognition, which got me thinking, is there any ocr software for the ameo, so you could just take a picture then ocr it and save as word document ect.

Don't remember the version but I'm going to hard reset my device and reinstall it to see how it goes. I was also having a problem with PHM and I think the issues stemmed from another program that I previously installed/uninstalled which made my device unstable.
I might be getting my hands on a universal so i have a few quick questions.

you can get 802.11g capabilities but only with 802.11b speed as my freind Jon suggested...

It's a registry setting, Ok, hopefully this will work - you'll still get 802.11b speeds (11 Mbit/s)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TIACXWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8

^^^sweet thanks man.
ok now about sdhc support and true vga?
is there just a simple cab to enable true vga or do you have to have a rom that supports it?
i have search some about sdhc and i am confused again does the rom have to support it or can you just install some cabs and you are go to go.
ps sorry i did not mean to start 2 threads i blame the server.
sdhc is incorporated into most recent ROMs. You'll find it in Settings\System\SD Settings. If not, then do a search for this, by OllieD.
for VGA you most probably need a ROM build with it in. There is a cab for it, but I don't know that it's compatible with all ROMs - usual way is to install and see! You can get cab here. I doubt it works for WM6.5, but let us know the results! You may glean more information here (which I found by looking in the Wiki).
^^^thanks guys. now i just have to try to keep my sanity for 4 or so more days until it comes in the mail.
jonny your has 128mb of ram how much did it cost you to get it upgraded and where did you get it done at?
I bought it as an 128MB machine (will be selling my old 64MB one soon! )
However there are two routes I was looking at:
Buying chips and finding someone to install them, or getting done at expanses (http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=118227)
well it came in the mail early yay. now i have to find a rom.
Dear all,
Lately with the help of other forum members I've noticed that my 16GB class 2 micro SD is not working well with all cooked ROMs. I use it at the moment with the 1.66 Stock ROM- the card is full of music, photos etc. and works perfectly fine. I believe that a lot of the cooked ROMs have some kind of problem with the driver for SDHC (class 2). I know the card is slow however it works perfectly on the stock ROM. Do you have any suggestions?
I have a 16 GB SDHC class2 Scandisk
I had the same problems with the speed
I have the following solution
With an external card reader, a full formatting with 32 kb cluster
then insert the card back into the HD2 and from there own distinct once the card with the HD
Formatting tools to format and optimize
This has helped me and since then I have had no problems with the speed more

What kind of formatting tool do you recommend. And do you think FAT 16 is better? I have read that FAT 16 with 64 kb is faster than FAT 32 with 32kb cluster.
if you format with fat 16 you have more waste with fat table
but you are right you loose space with fat 16 and win speed

much true, best thing is to test it out, i got approx 30% more speed (benched) but on my other card(different brand) i got only 15%), so try and see...

I do not have any encription. Probably "all" is a bit exagarated.. and I do appologize by all means. I have tried the following ROMs: Dutty's, Miri's, Artemis, Laurentius, Energy (with this one I had less problems..), XannyTech and several others. I mean all the chefs are doing a great job but I kept wondering why the card is working well on the stock ROMs and not on the cooked ones.
So you guys recommend formatting the card on FAT16? I am gonna try and see. Thank you all.
I don't think many chefs are removing this module but maybe I'm wrong you never know.
My experience is not many chefs are XIP patching haha..

I sometimes wonder how many actually know what the xip is never mind tweak it
I finished formating and benchmarking. The results from FAT 32 and FAT are the same. Will try reflashing and see if there's adifference but at that points I doubt it. Question still remains open - Why the heck it works fine on official ROMs and not on cooked ones..
Maybe it has something todo with this tweak just a wild ques.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS]
"CacheSize"=dword:00001000

Vote here Android fix you want to be next
hey guys
What you see:
You see some Bugs that have to be fixed, you think about the way your are using the phone and set a personal priority.
What you don't see:
-Some Bugs are connected to other Bugs. If you start fixing G-Sensor for example, you also fix Lightsensor..
-Some Bugs need much more time to work on than others. If you want battery to be working perfectly, you will have to wait a loooooooooong time for other fixes. On the other hand some minor bugs, maybe headset i.e., could be done very quickly.(didnt look at it, yet)
-I, for example, can not work on one thing all the time, sometimes i have to switch between the issues
-you try to tell the developers what they have to work on. It could be that some of us have other, personally, priorities, that they want to work on. They do it in their free time, where they could satisfy their girlfriends and wifes
This is not meant as warning or something, just think of it
A Voting could be seen as a public-opinion poll.. but not as a directive for the developers

I believe most visitor understand your concern Schlund. They are happy you and other devs are working on it regardless the order. Maybe we can look at the poll as an exhaust of our hopes. And only look at it as a directive when you don't know what to decide yourself. So thanks again and keep on the excellent work!

it's my fault, i suggested the idea to tzacapaca
of course this poll is not a work order for devs, but it gives an idea of what is important to the common photon users, and what is less important.
it helps to put priority to the long list of bugs
I hope to increase more SD CARD suport.

ALL card format by "SDFormatter" first, then format again by PC(fat32).

i had the same. then i used a HARD reset and it works fine.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to put all the known bugs on:
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/list
And then the devs can update as they wish, so it means everyone can check what bugs exist easily, and also means we can see what the dev's are working on too.
It might stop the repeaded questions of "Is this not working?" as a Forum is good, but information can be lost easily or become snowed under. Atleast this site keeps it clean and accessable?
If you guys do want all the issues on that site, I'm happy to help put them on there... and if I ever do end up buying a new motherboard for my PC i'd be happy to help dev, I know C, C++, Java... would need help setting everything up ready to dev though.

True, but there is a difference from having it on a forum or in a table for a website, than having it on a project page. The project page allows them to put what progress the bug is in... it kinda brings the best of both, into one place.
The wiki page is good for a quick reference page of what is and isn't working... but it doesn't provide why its not working. The forum explains why its not working, but it is much more bulky and can easily be lost. It also doesn't state the progress of the 'project' unless it is maintained. Project pages tend to maintain themselves with very little input from the dev's...
In my experience(10 years of working in projects like games etc), the project page is always easier to update and use. Just my input anyway...
Feel free to add the issues to the google code page =)
In fact,I have only one sd card can work android.
It is a Transcend 8G(class2) card,my wife buy that card about helf years ago.
That card can work android very fine on my hd mini and my wife's.
But I have another Transcend 8G(class2) card can't run it.
So I think this android program still have some question.

that's true, but i created this buglist page before the photon project page was populated.
it is easier to follow on the project page, at the end all the issues shall be posted there. the problem is i could not find the time yet to re-write all the issues in the bug tracker.
so anybody feel free to copy the bugs from this page and populate the issue list, with as much as details as you can write.
(how to recreate the issue, what you expect, what you get instead, on which version, etc)
feel free to open new issues or bug reports as well, nobody will blame you for that, this is the usage of the page ;-)
at least be sure the issue does not exists yet in the bug listing and that you give enough details to understand it!
http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/issues/list
this way we can follow up what isses are pending and what issues have been fixed, and everybody can contribute to this, you can add your own comments to each separate issue and provide a workaround if there is one (today with the buglist on the forum, only me can edit the page, which is not efficient)
i count on you guys, you're part of the photon team
hi all,
i also wanted to add touch screen problem to the bug list...i know that dev's have already corrected most of the touch screen problem that we all were having in the early release and usually there are no problem with it...but while typing text messages or any thing with keypad it gets messy....when i type fast in WM there is no error in words...but in droid it occurs all the time..
so i used smart keyboard pro..it has an option that enables u to see what area u have touched while typing. The touchscreen calibration is still 10-20 % off from where the buttons are and it can't be corrected with the screen calibration option present in settings as i've tried it so many time.
i know its not a big problem and not a priority, all i wanted is to point it out. Maybe when all the major bugs like battery, 3g, etc will be fixed. Dev's can correct this one too..
THankz and thumbs up for everyone who's working and helping in making hd mini a fully workiing android device
