I'm getting a creaking sound on the bottom left corner near the usb port if i push on it?
Anyone else has this or something else similar?
Same here - just discovered a couple days ago. Think is pretty minor small gap between the screen and the case - plastic must be super thin and it just bends a little making the sound. Wouldn't return it because you could get something even worse - dead pixels or stuck pixels - alignment issues - etc. They should have made the frame out of metal to elimate any flex.
As soon as a decent case is finally available for the TMOBILE version it will mask it.

I have the opposite problem. Well, maybe I shouldn't call it a problem because I would rather have it tight then loose. My back cover is on so tight I end up tearing my thumb up trying to remove it. It is to the point where I avoid removing the cover at all costs. No play at all, just tight as heck.
I noticed the more you remove it the looser it gets so maybe try doing that a couple of times.

The USA version isn't metal? mine (europe) is only metal and glass... well except for the harware buttons, they are plastic.
is it also true that the bottom is thicker than the euro version? where the USB port is, i looked at some photos, and it looks much thicker..
Only the battery cover is metal, everything else is not, feels like rubber i guess and i wouldn't say its thicker if it is not by much the phone is extremely thin.

It's metal coated in rubber - at least that what it feels like. When I get my replacement phone I'll scratch a little of the rubber off mine and see what's under it.

Great, post it here please when you get it
mine made a creaking noise down at the bottom, pretty much dead center, like the plastic (?) cover was a tiny bit loose. my guess is it would only get worse over time...only a guess though

yes, its coated with a special layer for grip... at least the euro version is!
i read this somewhere, maybe the htc website? or a review..
I just recently noticed the noise on my bottom right side.
I have a black MT4G and I've noticed the metal that surrounds the front glass isn't flush all the way around the phone.
If I slide my finger off the screen to the right side, it slides right off and it looks like the glass is flush or slightly higher than the metal.
If I slide to the left slide, I hit the metal which is sticking up a bit from the screen.
Visually it's hard to notice, but I feel it every time I swipe to different home screens.
Anyone else notice this? Is your phone flush all around or is the metal slightly raised all around?
mine is the exact same as yours...I noticed when I first got it, but im not going to take my phone and a micrometer back to the store for a replacement.
SO the Shift has two of thos plastic covers on the sides of the keyboard. How do you get them off? They look to go beyond the keyboard so you can't get to the back edge to peel it off.
Once you get it mostly peeled up, gently tug the remaining out and it'll come right off. Not so hard you tear the plastic.
i did it by sliding the screen down a little and pulling. it came out easily after that
I love how we have these kind of threads right now =D It's a pre-cursor for what's to come.
I've noticed lately that my DVP screen is a bit wobbly when I press it when the screen is closed. Today, with the screen slid up, I noticed there is only 1 rubber pad on the top right on the back of the screen. It looks like there should be a second pad on the top left, but instead there's an exposed screw.
Anyone else have this? Debating if it's worth exchanging for that or if I can fix it myself.
i don't think the screw cover has anything to do with stabilizing the screen when its closed. mine is flush with the surface of the rear of the screen and isn't rubbery at all, it is just a screw cover sticker.

Are both screws covered on yours? There is clearly a gap on mine when the screen is closed on the side that's missing the cover, but maybe that's just coincidence.
yep, both screws are covered and there isn't any kind of gap. looks like something is off in your sliding mechanism.
Mine has a little bit of play but not enough to notice.
I have had a slide up keyboard phone before, over time they all get a little loose. If it is bothering you now may as well exchange while you can. I have had my DVP for 3 weeks and it has almost no wiggle.
I have found a LOT of the flimsy silicon covers and even more of the folding covers. I have one of each. I like the silicon case because it does protect well but it is super flimsy. I would like a hard backed case to stiffen it up and for another reason. I use a car mount and it presses through the case and back and puts pressure on the back of the tablet which shows up on the screen as, to replicate it you can lightly press on the screen and see what it does. I am worried this may cause issues.
I am thinking of finding a 1/8" sheet of plastic and gluing it to the inside.
