i tried the iphone today i was so impressed with the keyboard input function.
specialy that when you release your finger the key input appears, and if you press the wrong key just move your finger to the next key and release. have tried to find a similar app for my WM6 based device but there is nothing like it out there!
can someone please make a keyboard input app like the iphone for the WM devices.
the iphone really sucks BUT there is one big thing i like with it is that the software is so easy to use and so dam logical, have to give creds to the software developers at mac....
ya one more thing the iphone is 3 times faster than my ETEN GLOFIISH X500+
over and out...

Dude, I totally know what you mean. And not only the keyboard, but also that finger-flick thing. You know, the one where you kind of touch the screen with an up or down motion and it kind of flows... When is one of the WM developers going to get off their ass and make that possible on my Hermes! Sheesh!

Come on you lot, before you so eagerly jump down people's thoats, I think you'll find larsuck was being sarcastic, hence the bold wording...
theres also a pocketcm keyboard theme file, you gotta dig around the pocketcm fourms customizations to find it.
its great and looks just like the real iphone keyboard.

You can check Resco Keyboard 5.11 pro version. It has all the features with look and feel of iphone keyboard. Pretty finger friendly too.
I think some of the posts here are unfair.
Yes you can search but you're wasting your time. I've been looking for a better keyboard for wm for years.
PocketCMKeyboard has an old version which sort of works, sometimes a bit slow. It has some skins which are close to the iPhone style but again you'll need to search for them, find the right version, copy the right files to the right places, cross fingers and it will be okay. I used one for a while, some drawbacks but looked pretty good. Depending on the version of PocketCMKeyboard, it would bomb out with a time thing that meant you needed to download the new version straightaway. There's a new version but the skins are different and the old skins don't work with the new PocketCMKeyboard and you need to search for those as well. There isn't, I think, an iPhone skin for the new version.
The stock HTC keyboard qwerty thing is pretty good and is on a lot of the 6.1 roms. It works, looks pretty ugly but it works. There's a new 2.0 version you can search for and someone clever here is working on a qvga version. It looks a lot like the iPhone keyboard. You can serach for that as well, look out for version 2.0 rather than 1.5. It's not ready yet but we are hopeful.
Search on here sucks a lot of the time. If you think finding what you want is incredibly frustrating it's because it is. Shouting SEARCH all the time doesn't really help anyone, especially if they can't find something that matches their question.
Unfortunately, while I like my HTC Touch and enjoy tinkering with it, programming for it and trying out all sorts of registry hacks and tweaks to make it better, the market is going to run away with products like the iPhone which don't require all that extra work.
HTC + xdadevelopers + time = acceptable
Let's keep it polite.
I did one a while ago for PCM v14
You may want to try the link labeled iClone in my signature. I used much of the actual iPhone graphics and layout.

Are you serious or did you konk your head falling out of bed today!?!?!? I have had more trouble find a piss room in an air port than the almost 12 differenent keyboards on this site and skins to match iphone!!
This thread is was started by a person that is just another useless waste of space.
Hi,
FingerKeyboard2
PocketCM Keyboard
Haha, i personally think it is the hardware problem, the capacitive touchscreen will do all the trick that iphone will do. The software is partially at fault too as someone had said in this thread.

Its not cool at all, just plain annoying. I have all those damn shortcuts on the today screen! I'm going to see if there's a TouchIT 2.3 around here w/o Cube cuz it sucks ass and just hogs 5MB or RAM that I can't get back without a reset
Bad job HTC, bad job.

???
This must be one of the most useless posts out a lot of very bad posts.Could a moderator please close this post
Besides very offensive and rude to ITje it is plain ass stupid; why? Let me explain:
#1 Everybody in this forum using it in a constructive way is doing this in his/her sparetime and they are doing this volentairely!
#2 ITje used his sparetime to cook us a Rom which is WAY better than any MS Rom filled with junk and useless software.
#3 A Rom which is, even with hogging these 5 MB, better then the official one due to the improved stability, improved speed, gained space and additional much needed software.
#4 A rom which is available in several flavours with or without Cube
#5 TouchIT 2.3 is already outdated by version 3 and since today version4 (again in several flavours)
#6 By offending the people who are willing to use their sparetime to provide us with better Rom you will chase them away from cooking so eventually none of them is willing to do anything for anyone.
#7 If it is so annoying > flash your device with the original RUU and stop wining about it.
#8 Want me to go on....?
Please take my advice on this one:
If something like this is bugging you again... use your toilet because we don't need this ****. Take IT, leave it or build one yourselves
^Awww, must be that time of the month for you. I understand, don't worry
everybody is entitled to an oppinion....
But many ppl like the cube.
And as I told you earlier, there will come versions without the cube and only touchflo, but as I also said, I dont have the time right now to cook up the other releases, I have other things to do
. The lite version was just an last minute experiment with ftouchflo, wich I never used before. Didnt have time to test it properly, but if you bother to do a search in development and hacking section of this forum there is a hotfix. and there is also a config tool there somewhere
I can give you link to fix, but config u need to find yourself

^Thanks a lot man. I hope you didn't take my post the wrong way like our friend above did. I meant it as venting at my disappointment at HTC with that Cube, not against you. I really appreciate your work and if you don't do a cubeless 2.3, its fine. Its not like I'm paying for any of this!

I must say, I think the Cube us very useless too, nice to play with it,
for like 4 times, but after that it's out of real use.
A today screen with integrated Cube, now THAT would be nice. Having different today screens wich you can swap. So still start menu/softkeys.
Any good-ass programmer interested?

hehe admit it, that's funny
but no need for this thread to be opened, that is true
like itje said, its this person's opinion! There are lot more useless posts on this forum. I think this post is very good because it could let the noob firmware flasher on what firmware to pick, with or without the cube.
In my opinion, cube is very useless for general purpose. But very good to show it off to your friends. Trust me it comes very handy when they try to smack talk to you "why you didnt buy the Iphone."
I think in the months to come, we are going to be moving away from the cube and integrating the PointUI interface in the new releases. I love the pointui interface becuase it does more then the cube does. It is aso in the beginnng stages and there are more features and more stable releases to come!
Also, I dont think he meant any disrespect to itje. He just asked if there was a cubeless version of the Touch-it rom.
Yes, I meant no respect. Check the last line of appreciation I typed.
I once tested a program for switching todayscreens - but as in windows xp it is slow....
perhaps someone could put things together.
but like pointui - all is finally redirected to the crappy winmobile software - when wiritng sms or anything else. comming there can be very nice - cube, pointui, spbmobile shell --> but at the end we stop there wehere we could get by pressing - start-programms-messaging

I really like the cube and come handy when i am viewing pictures and playing mp3s..
Hi guys,
I've already Windows Mobile 6 in my P4350. There's anyway to install now the "famous" cube?
How to do that? Or do I have to instal the entire ROM Update?
Thanks
Mainly you will get it through Custom ROMs but there is also a new coded standalone version which you can find here.
I have an idea. If you don't like the cube, then don't use it.
I have had a cubed rom for a while... and the only time i ever bring up the cube, is when someone asks about my phone, so I'll show them the stupid little things like HTC Album, and Cube just to show off the whole GUI aspect of it... other than that, I never use any of it.

Exactly, that's the same what I do if people ask me about my phone. The HTC Album btw does get some attention by myself.
Hi Guys,
I'm back on XDA Forums again after straying over to maemo.org (Nokia N810 internet tablet) for a year or so. Great hardware, but software just wasn't there yet (for me) so it went to ebay as soon as I read about the HD.
Anyway, I was wondering. Given these large sensitive screens and new input methods like shapewriter & swype on the way (if they ever get round to releasing them), do you really think a real qwery keyboard will still be a requirement for most people.
I'm an ex Universal owner (still got it, but needs fixing). But having seen the demo's of shapewriter etc. and having played around with a couple of examples on my Tablet PC, I'm really excited about these sliding based input options. I reckon 50+ words a minute looks quite manageable with very little training.
I don't think I will miss the qwerty input except when entering very technical stuff (things that would not be recognised by the dictionary).
What do you guys think ?

Well in that case...
I have to say though that the keys on the DiNovo Mini are quite small even though the device itself is quite big (it's bigger than an HD) so not something you'd want to carry round with you or type large amounts of text with. Handy for occasional use, but then again if you're only using it occasionally you might as well stick with the various software keyboards that are available.

I am glad you all liked the concept you have seen. Because unlike Swype and which is only an idea for now, and Shapewriter which isn't much of a use in the ihone, there is a company who also manifested this idea and it is available for the public allready. I found it in some forum a few weeks ago, and since then I am simply amazed.
It's called SlideIT, has free demos.
Here is a video for it if you like to see it in action first:

I just saw the youtube video.
I'm not sure I like the layout of the keyboard. what's up with that "pizza pie" format?
That's a bit weird.
The added graffiti recognition feature is pretty cool.
I owned an HTC Universal too, but to be honest, hardly use the keyboard.
HI, following your comments i started evaluating the demo version of slideIT for curiosity...simply amazing, i am tempted to buy it but i will wait for the HD to make sure it works OK on 800x480. I make much fewer errors than with normal soft keyboards, and in a few trials i realized i am equally fast...i couldn't believe it myself.
Indeed, the pen is mandatory...but so what?
...anybody which had tried swype? as far as i understand, the software doesn't exist yet...

Nope, both shapewriter and swype don't exist for WM yet. If you own an iPhone you could get a free copy of shapewriter on iTunes.
I'm wondering what is swype waiting for. We've all seen the software being used on videos on youtube. So what's with the delay of the release?

Yes, I find it really frustrating. I've had a tablet pc for several months now and the only thing I find problematic is data input.
Shark was around years ago, but they pulled it to go commercial with ShapeWriter (you can't get hold of the old Shark beta software anymore).
Swype has obviously been around in beta for quite some time as well, but again not for the public. In the demos, I'm sure I've seen it running on windows mobile.
I took a quick look at slide it, but personally, I'm only interested in the slide input and SlideIt seams to have put too much effort into the "three input methods". I'm more interested in the realestate being dedicated to a single input method with large buttons.
Also I get the feeling that swype/shapewriter have better algorithms for "sloppy" input.
Finally, SlideIT is Windows Mobile only. I want a common input method on my tablet and my PDA.
I do wonder if both camps are holding back while thier legal teams sort out where they stand on patents etc.
Just my thoughts...

No offense, but I really don't see any reason to turn your phone into an iPhone if you didn't get an iPhone. Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know.
The IphoneToday v1.1 app works great for me.
There is a Rhodium Theme section, why post in the ROM section?
Concerning your question, you could search the Blackstone theme section, since both devices are very similar.

None of that stuff from that site has any support, because they stole it all from XDA. The locker app is called S2U2. In this thread The today screen was probably iFonz. Link here. There are a bunch more iPhone-like applications here, all you have to do is search before buying.

No offense, but I really don't see any reason to turn your phone into an iPhone if you didn't get an iPhone. Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know.

i was just about to say that. to have an iphone just to have an iphone is pretty damn lame, but if you have one and genuinely understand phones and appreciate how good it really is, the more power to you. now, if you come to xda and ask this, that's just rock bottom

No offence, but if you think that putting an Iphone styled theme over a TP2 turns it into an Iphone, then yes, you missed quite a lot.
My 2-cents on this...
If you have an iPhone or use an iPhone theme, you're missing out on a lot of info on your homescreen.
You'll only have a bunch of shortcut icons. No preview of messages, no viewing upcoming appointments, etc.
It's like every time turn on your device, you're presented with the TF3D Start menu. Not sure why anyone would do this when TF3D and other more capable solutions are available.

That's a valid opinion, and as you use your phone that way, it's great you have the option of TF3D. The Iphone has advantages too, like if you want to open facebook/twitter/messaging, you turn the phone on, then click on facebook/twitter/messaging and you're done without having to open the start menu or slide to a different TF3D tab.
People use their phones differently so it's also great that they can set up their phone to suit themselves.
That's what's great about WinMo - people can do what they want with it, so if someone had an Iphone & loved the way it works, but not the lack of a keyboard & high-res screen, they can get a Pro2, enjoy the keyboard, high-res screen, and make it operate in a way that suits them.
If someone wants something on their phone, either help them achieve it, or leave them to it. Why criticise them because we don't want or understand what they want?
That's my view anyway!
Yeah, well said DavidMc0. I've just got the TP2 and want an auto lock solution. s2u2 looks like the one for me but I've concerns over the battery drain. It'll probably be the app for me but we'll see...

Edit:
Why did you get a Touch Pro 2 if you want iPhone theme?

If you've ever had an Iphone which I have, you can appreciate the layout of the phone. The visual display and layout of the phone is great, bar but what I didn't like was the none keyboard and the AT&T cost, so if I come across a good iphone theme, I'd be happy to give it test drive

I agree!!! who would want an iphone interface on a WM phone
Iphone Theme
I know you might ask, why get a Touch Pro if you want an Iphone Theme. Well if you've had an iphone which I have you can really appreciate the flow of the phone. Everything is touch and setup in a manner that isn't clumped together. Windows Mobile just doesn't do it. Being able to touch things very easily is such a nice touch. I've already played around with some of the themes and some are nice but if someone would emuliate the iphone theme, I garantee it would be a hit. BTW, the only reason I got rid of the iphone is I wanted access to 3G which I didn't have on the TMobile network.
Just my thought...
There are tons of iphone applications that will work for the TP2, free ones... Search them. A couple examples:
iFonz
iPhoneToday
WAD2 (is a skinning program, you have to find the iphone theme for it. seen some beautiful looking ones)
ThrottleLauncher (another skinning program, might be an iPhone theme for it somewhere)
Just make sure you look to see that it supports WVGA resolution before trying any of them. IphoneToday is probably the best out right now in terms of functionality. Very light plugin, customizable, works like the iPhone, can be used with other today plugins, it's just awesome. Had it on my Titan and if it weren't for Manila being so dang sexy I'd have it on my Rhodium as well.
I can't find it with the search, is there an iphone theme for the tp2? does tf3d config work with the tp2 also? Thanks!

im replying through my tp2 so i wont be able to provide link. search "iphone today" and you will be able to find it, it pretty nice too. you will have to configure it to display just like the tf3d call screen message screen and so on.
Ok im at my laptop. here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508429

Yeah, but I'm sure it will in no way be as responsive and smooth as the iPhones UI and he'll be sure to mention it. Why choose a copy over the real thing.
I would think the latest Manila would be much more impressive.

i agree....my wife has an iphone, it's awesome and I GOT it for her! But in the end, some can't have access to the best of both worlds so they make it happen....good luck!
doesn't the tf3d apps tab give that same simple layout of programs? whats the big deal with everyone asking for iphone style ui.?

i agree -- it's kinda suggesting that Apple did it better (which is what some may think, but not i) -- i even went so far as to uncheck the "Programs" tab in TF3D because i found it to be cumbersome, and use QuickMenu almost exclusively (after having remapped hardware and soft keys)

this thread just went upside down. so much negativity, we are not here to bag on what phone is best or what phone is not. it was a simple question that was answered, so if you guys don't like it then respectfully move on to another thread. Simple as that!...

no better for normal text messages than your standard default android keyboard..
i think ill stick to swype.
For me personally, too, is not easy
I agree that using it is not easy at early but once we getting used to it then its awesome it has the unique features like time button & predefined keywords that other keyboard don't have

Swiftkey X is still the BEST in my opinion. You guys should try it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...S50b3VjaHR5cGUuc3dpZnRrZXkucGhvbmUudHJpYWwiXQ..
it looks kewl just need more settings
i try this but i really love swype keyboard....
I had installed it but I could not adjust to it. siwftkeyX is the best
it comes with a pretty steep learning curve and it's still a nascent idea. But give it some time and a whole lot of research and it may rival the best(bar swype, that is). a collaboration between swype and siine would be a wet dream. (they can name it siipe or, yeah you guessed it swiine)
