Hey all...
I'm new here and I currently have the HTC P4000 (a.k.a. Mogul) and I was interested in installing the TouchFlo application onto my phone. I was wondering what's the difference between the following and which one is recommended:
-FTouchFlo_a4
-FTouchFlo_v1.4.1
-TouchFlo (Alpha)
Thanks.
Ok so let's start:
fTouchFlo:
1.4.1 is the newest version available (a4 is alpha release - 1.4.1 is stable/official release.
fTouchFlo provides finger scrolling capability for all the windows and provides option to launch applications by swiping your finger (currently 4 gestrures are enabled). It does not contain the touch cube launcher. Most of people use it just for finger scrolling (that makes those pesky scroll bars obsolete)
TouchFlo alpha - is the "buttonflo" - it is the Touch Cube launcher that is launched and its faces are turned by button presses. It does not enable finger scrolling, just enables you to use somewhat crippled Cube Launcher. There are flash ports of the cube available - Slither's Flash Cube and Szabi's Launcher plus commercial Touch Commander.
Thanks for the quick reply...
Also I was wondering, what's the closest to the HTC Touch software? And which is most recommended and used?

In case of scrolling there is only fTouchFlo and Kinetic scrolling posibility in SPB Pocket Plus 4.0 (commercial app, scrolling works in selected programs only). I think fTouchFlo is better - though it has limitations - for example you can not use transcriber with fTouchFlo as of yet.
In case of cube launchers the situation differs:
TouchFlo alpha is cracked version of HTC Touch Cube - the turning of the faces of the cube is made by button presses
Slither's cube tries to mimic original TouchCube as much as possible but is written in flash.
Szabi's Cube Launcher goes its own way and the user interface is slightly diffferent.
Touch Commander is commercial app and tends to work correctly on many devices. Personally I only tried TouchFlo alpha so if you want more info you should check threads dedicated to these launchers.

Given that I believe the hardware as far as the touchscreen itself goes, are there any plans to try and migrate the TouchFlo / TouchFlo II ROM or application layer over so it'll work with the Mogul?
I love the Touch Flo's inteface, but there's no way I would ever give up my full keyboard.
You can find the touchflo application at this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334965&highlight=pcm+keyboard
Make sure to download a4, this is the most recent release. Also, read the entire first post before installation. I have the HTC 6800 (mogul) from sprint and I successfully installed this software this morning.
I have also installed A4 on my mogul. It is running great! I modified the config file a tiny to give a longer delay and to add SSContact.
Where is my cube?!!!
I can get the touch scrolling to work but still cannot figure out the cube. I can access the audio manager and the home screen (with tabs) but do not see any of the other full screen touch menus or animations.
I have installed the following files:
FTouchFlo_a4.CAB
HomePlugin WM6.cab
HTC_Audio_Manager.cab
HTC_Audio_Manager_Today_Plugin.cab
JT ButtonFlo.cab
Touch Flo (Alpha).cab
Touch Settings v1.22.CAB
I changed the registry key so that audio manager is the music player and also deleted the bio.lnk and mediahub.lnk from the windows/startup. I even went as far as to copy .brn files to make sure they were there. Even Touch settings is working fine.. BUT any time I slide LR or click the button I get the stupid black screen. (WTF, it is killing me!)
Has anyone figured this out on Sprint Mogul???
I didn't try too hard on the cube because I couldn't get the gestures to work. Maybe this is something that will be improved in later versions.

Well this Flash version of the Touchflo 3D Cube it seems to work really well so far on my mogul, like I said it's not the real cube but it's really neat just the same.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328010&highlight=ByKa+Cube+Launcher
Yeah, Byka's Flash version is cool, but it uses lots of system resources and just isn't quite the same.
Someone having the black screen issue has to have found a fix by now?
I've tried the BYKA cube but it jsut looks tacky. It works great but I guess I just have a problem with the icons and the background. Slither is working on a cub which looks exaclty like the TOUCHCUBe but it still has a way, although he's working very diligently. I would love to see the original cube, hopefully some cab extracted in combination with the touchfloa4. That would be ideal.
I tried it yesterday and was not impressed. So I installed SPB Pocketplus V.4 which also has "touch" features and works much better to be honest...

I got this working on my mogul (close to barebones w/o ext_rom) seemingly perfectly... I did it on a fresh hard hard reset because of some conflicting software and my remove programs list being blank (this is not related to anything with touchflo btw... so don't worry)... I mapped touchflo.exe (on Ftouchflo) to left-right(to make cube both initialize and rotate with my finger dragging left right) and it works like a charm! I also mapped up-down to efrost's minimize program(efrostminimize.exe) that I got from Slither's cube, this brings me back to the Today screen. Not sure what the "ns.exe" is for in your config files but it seems to be working fine for me so far following the instructions. I'm thinking with the mogul black screens there must be a conflicting software involved.
I only have:
HTC plugins + Audio/Comm Manager
Total Commander
TCPMP+FlashVideo
PHM_Reg
Memmaid
Palm Msging
Oxios
Slide 2 Unlock 2 0.53
Ftouchflo alpha 4
Adobe Flashlite 2.1
Edit: Be careful how fast you retry using finger swipes upon the initial initialization (from closed) as it will run two instances if the touchflo did not fully initialize yet. (they both load though... phew* still no black screen)
Edit 2: Remember, if you map left-right and use Slide 2 Unlock 2(S2U2), to exclude s2u2.exe in the Ftouchflo config.
will post if black screen comes up in the future
I w as going to try this after midterms, how is it working? Is it pretty awesome? Is it worth it? does it bogg down your system? Are you afraid of installing other apps for fear of it "blacking out"? I'm very interested in the cube but it seems out of reach right now because of the bugs.

it works fine... no real big load on system resources (it was designed for a slower processor actually). No, I'm not really afraid of installing other programs. I was just stating that it's obvious that all those people complaining about black screens have something that conflicts with the cube somehow (or they didn't install according to instructions). Most likely something that runs in the background...
wandrerx, how do you actually get the cube? What application does it get installed with?
Can you send links to the exact apps you are running that are minimum requirements for this to work?
The original detailed instructions (by mikewtw) and files are in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333513
This is really just a summary of instructions and issues since it's getting messy there...
You need all the files from the original instructions:
TouchFlo.zip
AL_xx_Touch.zip
Touch Settings v1.22.CAB
Installation:
Prereq (To be installed first...):
HTC Home Plugin - I used the one from here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308
HTC Audio Mgr - I got it from the touchflo.zip
HTC Audio Plugin - I got it from the touchflo.zip
Installation Process
1)Install "Touch Flo (Alpha).cab"
2)Install "JT Buttonflo.cab" (This is needed because it causes a script to run at startup which makes it actually work)
3)Install "Touch Settings v1.22.cab"
4)Delete "Mediahubmini.lnk" from "\windows\startup"
5)Unzip all of the files from "AL_xx_Touch.zip" to "\touch" (this step may not be needed but it was mentioned in the original post and I did it anyways)
6)Copy those "AL_xx_Touch.zip" files into "\windows"
7)Now might be a good time for a soft reset
8)Run "Touch Settings" from programs once but do not touch anything just yet... click on save option at the bottom" (this step apparently saves the icons you just installed so they'll appear... I think)
9)Soft reset
Touchflo is now installed you can either:
A) Map it to a button thus making it buttonflo
B) Install Ftouchflo Alpha 4 and use the touch screen to launch and rotate left to right (one way only currently)
If you decide to use Ftouchflo Alpha 4 I've enclosed:
"FTouchfloConfig.txt" - To be copied into "\Program Files\Ftouchflo_a4"...this also makes it compatible with s2u2
"efrostminimize.exe" (by efrost duh!) - To be copied into "\windows"
FTouchflo usage:
Using my config you can bring up the cube by swiping down-to-up (like the real one) or you can do the same going left to right. You can also minimize the cube by swiping up-to-down(via efrostminimize.exe)
Notes:
1)Upon initial run from either being closed or soft reset, try not to swipe it activated too much otherwise it will open twice. Once started swipe all you want. Of course you could just activate touchflo another way first.
2)Installing Touchflo alpha takes away HTC Home contacts
3)This does not seem to be a killable app via "memory"
4)I'm trying to figure out whether I can make some script to make it run smoother
5)Audio Mngr seems to be the only resource killer as it also loads into the cube
5)Yes it only goes one direction, this was a modified touchflo designed to work with buttons. As I said, this is the one we have to use till a cooked rom with the cube comes out.
6)This does not run on initial boot, you've got to either run it from Ftouchflo or "touch flo" in programs
7)If you run "Touch flo" without button mapped or "Ftouchflo"(configured for it) it will stay on the first screen
8)Can also be minimized by using the "red hangup button" (buttonflo-method as opposed to using my config for Ftouchflo)
9)Using HTC Home Plugin Customizer requires a soft-reset because it disables the Home Plugin temporarily
7)Icons not installed correctly is one very big cause of black screen
8)Conflicting programs may also be a reason for black screen as I did this all on a hard reset
Ftouchflo Alpha4

Followed these steps exactly. 3 attempts, 3 blackscreens. 0 fun. Guess we'll just have to wait for a rom...

if you want a cube, I highly recommend slithers cube.

I have been using both of these programs and they work together flawlessly on the Mogul
HTC HOME vs. the Cube
For anyone who has tried both.
I am currently running the HTC Home on mine and it works very well. Power consumption is normal. Good quick response. No complaints overall.
However, I am somewhat intrigued by the Cube and have been contemplating trying it out.
How is the CPU/Power consumption. Responsiveness. Stability? Thanks for your thoughts in advance.
Michael
Stability
I have tried both the Home plugin and the cube. If youuse the home plugin, do a search for the six tab "fixed" kaiser plugin. Fixes some memory leaks and has more functionality. The Cube here is very unstable and not too quick. I had to hard reset to get it to work, and it will not work with some other apps installed. For me, it would not work with SPB Pocket Plus. I would recommend getting the cube Slither has in development. It runs on flash, is quick, and does not seem to have compatibility issues.
I have been experimenting with different cubes and at the moment my money is on FTouchSL (formerly FTouchFlo) with SCLPC++. Big thanks to the developer of FTouchSL (this is now a commercial program) and Slither2006
Please see FTouchSL and SCLPC++ threads for more info.
After quite alot of head scratching and tweaking of default settings it all works very well indeed. The TouchFlo within my current ROM is simply disabled within the FTouchSL config so doesn't conflict.
I can go into more of the detail with particular settings if others are having problems.
Does your touch keyboard lag when usign touchflosl? It lagged pretty bad for me when i had FTouchFlo installed.. so had to remove it. (e.g. letters didnt highlight when pressed on touch keyboard, etc)

Yes, I have.
I have installed SCLPC++ Cube and it works fine launching it from the installation directory.
Then I've installed FTouchSl (for the moment in trial mode)
but I'm not able to find the exact settings.
Also it seems that some conflict with ROM touchflow is present.
Since you were successful, I'll try again.
Now the SCPLC++ cube is starting well but together to the original one.
How could I disable the original cube ?

Actually I hadn't noticed what happens as I tend to use the touch keyboard with a finger and not the stylus... anyway my keyboard works fine with no perceptable lag and the correct colour change.

I have registered my FTouchSL but I know some of the settings are disabled in the Trial version. The main FTouchSL settings I have include:
Timeout = 500ms
Scrolling - disable with TouchFlo
Gesture timeout = 300ms
Launch zone dimensions: Left=45, Right=40, Top=80, Bottom=100
Up-Down gesture = Launch application: SCLPC++
Active corner delay = 500ms
Exceptions: SCPPC++ (scrolling, gestures and active corners disabled)

With the ROM I am using (see signature) there is a utility in Settings called ROM Settings. One of the Tabs on this is for HTC TouchFLo and I have unchecked Scroll and Cube here.
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunatly no such setting is available in the original rom and the original cube is still alive.
Here is the registry change to disable the cube:
HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings change EnableCube from 1 in 0
Now the SCPPC++ cube works well. But moving the finger from up to down, the cube disappears, but it still remains in background.
Is the same for you ?

Great you found the registry settings, I started looking too but hadn't found it. There is one near it for disabling TouchFlo scrolling aswell.
Your other point... yes the cube does stay open in the background so it appears rather than fading up from the bottom when you first bring it up. I wonder if this is by design? I'll post this query in the SCLPC++ forum.
SCLPC++ conflict with TFloCube
I had this same issue. Just add the SCLPC++ exe to the exclusion list in TFlow configurator it will solve the issue. No need to edit the reg
HTC home is an amazing creation especially the vers found in aserg rom for the herald where it incorporates colors on the buttons
I installed touch commander and the ability to slide the tabs instead of pressing and the slide action was quite spectacular
Unfortunately due to the extremely slowdown of my device i removed it
Hopefully somebody knows of something similar, and no ultimate launcher cube slide is different than this, personally i think this is way smoother and fits the htc device quite well instead of the ultimate launcher

Have you tried the Touch Commander beta version yet? It's a little buggy but looks like it's going to kick some #@&. See if you can find a pick for the one you speak about... I would like to see and maybe replicate for TC.
just curious. how many nike users have replaced the cube by manila2d like me? now i'm very happy with m2d + traditional today (via Manila Control).
I hated the cube, so it's just M2D for me...
I never use it either. I'd just assume disable it, but i use the older M2D that doesn't require disabling it.
i compiled a set of reg values to use the built-in biotouch.exe to call Manila Control in order to toggle between M2D and Today. would like to share with other Nike-M2D users.

Thats very interesting, with M2D I personally dont use any other today plugins, M2D is simply better, but its great to have an alternative at hand, thanks.

maybe i'm too greedy. i really love to see both the original Today and M2D, so that i need not sacrifice those lovely today plugins like spb phone suite, TodayAgenda, and A2DP Toggle.
I'm not a Nike user, but as someone with a device from the same generation, namely the HTC Touch Cruise, I haven't been able to give up the cube and move to Manila2D. I like the fact that I can call the cube up *over* any application I'm using, instead of having to minimize the ALL applications that are up. Also, I use my device in my car pretty often for GPS and music, and not only does M2D not support landscape, it also doesn't really lend itself to "concentration-less" operation. I realise that the cube isn't supported in landscape, but at least I have HTC Home (all 6 tabs) and a fully operational today screen. And then there is the issue of not being able to use today screen plug-ins with M2D...
For the past day or so I've been playing with different 6.1 and 6.5 roms for my titan (Verizon xv6800), trying to decide which to go with. The two contenders seem to be DCD 4.1.2 (WM 6.1) with HTC Home and its customizer, and the new bbsandkm WM 6.5 build.
So far, 6.1 seems to be the winner for reasons of speed and memory use. Also, it seems easier to customize the HTC Home screen than it is to customize Titanium, lovely though it is. But there's one awfully tempting feature of 6.5, and that's the version of IE. The automatic full-screen and finger scrolling are very nice. Is there any way to get those features into 6.1? Or can someone direct me to a nice way to customize the Titanium home screen to have just the stuff I'm interested in? On the home screen I'd mostly like a nice big clock, a weather panel, PIM panels (calendar and tasks) and a launcher for apps (GPS, games, whatever).
Many thanks in advance for your wisdom and/or experience.
i used SPB Pocket Plus 4.02 on bbsands 6.5
it adds finger friendliness to file explorer and ie
also has a bunch of other nice abilities that sbp 2/3 doesn't have and it uses less memory
no fancy sliding screens or anything...but you get a task switcher...close menu...and i think up to 6 today tabs.
it also can double up the top hardkey buttons to short/long presses (messaging/ie buttons)
so you can quicklink 4 programs total to those two buttons...
i recommend that program 100%...all these features can be enabled/disabled
though personally i use a mix of skyfire/opera to get my webbing done
i would also highly recommend checking out mattsm's 6.5 build
if you notice on ppcgeeks, bbsand is/was taking a break and forwarded development to him
i run his 6.5 (i think 23004 build) and its well above the memory i would get on 6.1
no turning back now

as far as internet browsing i use skyfire which is really easy to use and very finger friendly. also opera mini is good too it even allows tabbed browsing.
in terms of the titanium today screen in wm6.5 they have a chome editor which allows you to edit it
For WM6.1 use FTouchFlo and click on full screen it will stay full screen (unless you click a button but it will go back automatically).
There are 6.1 ROM's that have the new version of IE.
There are also several other browser options including Opera Mini, Skyfire, Opera Mobile, etc.
FTouchFlo will add finger friendliness to every program and is a good add on for the slightly older builds of 6.1 that do not have the finger friendly features added to the few MS programs that MS programmed it into in the newer builds. I actually prefer the ROMs that do not have the finger friendly versions because then it's easier to use FTouchFlo and add it to all my programs. If you have the newer builds it is much harder to figure out how to exclude the built in programs so that FTouchFlo does not conflict with the built in gesture handling.
