[HELP] CellBroadcast - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Does anybody know how to send a CellBroadCast message or does anybody have software for it?
thnx

I believe you just can't send a cell broadcast using your cell phone. It must be sent via the cell tower, so the only one can do it is your operator.

dialup access

I'm wanting to set up dial up access to my work's internet provider (telstra). My phone is an O2 XDA IIs connected thru Optus, but that's not really that relevant to my problem...
I set up the connection properly but when I tried to connect it says 'no modem at above number'.
I know there are other causes for this message, but mine is simple:
Optus want me to pay extra money to be able to use a 'data line'. And because it would seem SO much more expensive to do things that way, well hey, I might as well just use GPRS, yes? NO! I've got a cap at $79 for $500 worth of calls, and this dialup number is a local call... so I could theoretically be on the internet for hours on my PDA, but Optus don't want me to do that.
Now I tried calling the number normally using the mobile and I heard beeps etc.
So my question is: What software can I use to translate that into a dialup connection? Surely there must be *some* way around this problem...
Has anyone else overcome this?
Same problem here
Sorry I don't have a solution, but I have the exact same problem. I get the same error, but I can dial the modem number using the phone and it connects.
I'm on Rogers in Canada with an XDA IIs
Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

P3600: Sometimes, calls get forwarded to voicemail without the phone even ringing

Hi. I am using the P3600 since February 07 and have noticed that sometimes callers are being forwarded to my voicemail directly without the phone ringing. I checked the service settings (diverts), and what I do have enabled is a divert to voicemail *if the phone is busy, unavailable or out of reach*.
I am using Pushmail / Activesync via UMTS and ask myself if the phone is dropping in a "busy" state while downloading new e-mail. If somebody would call exactly then, this could cause the divert to my voicemail.
Did anybody have a similar experience?
Thank you and best regards
Stefan

Hi
On German Vodafone this happens if
a) HSDPA is enabled
b) you ar online with a data connection
c) you get a phone call then
I disabled HSDPA and the problem is gone.
which network do you use?
do you have HSDPA enabled?
I've had the same issue. I have Cingular/AT&T. They tried troubleshooting the phone, and ended up sending me a new one. Weeks later I find that I'm still having this problem. If you find out an answer let me know...
HSDPA in use
Hi - thank you for your reply. I am in Switzerland, and I use Swisscom as a provider. HSDPA is one of the option the phone goes for if no other is available. Is there a way to disallow the usage of HSDPA? Thanks and best regards, Stefan

Yes, there is. Try SK Tools. There is also a HTC Tool for this and http://www.fit4cat.de/portal.php has another tool. If you have problems finding one of these tools then send me a private message with your email adress.
Thank you - I will check tools out
Thank you very much - I will check those tools out!
Hi, guys!
I'm from Ukraine, and my operator doesn't have 3G yet, only GSM/EGPRS.
And I don't use voicemail but there is lighter service here. If somebody called me when I was unavailable, out of zone I would receive SMS from operator with callee's number and call time.
And after switching to P3600 I began to receive such SMSes 5-7 time per day even if I'm sitting in my office all the time and is available.
I've written e-mail to HTC support but haven't received answer yet
does not happen only with P3600
I switched my SIM-card to a Sony Ericsson P990i - and was stumbling into the same problem. Calls sometimes get forwarded directly to my Voicemail if data connection is active. It seems to me rather a provider than a device problem ... ! I will discuss this with Swisscom. Thanks for the hint.

Htc p3400 sim problem....

Hi
Most of the times i am not able to send or recieve sms and sometimes its giving a warning wait for 15 seconds phone is not ready, it comes per day atleast 5 times, and then no signal for some time.
If i restart this is the message
Your current settings do not match with the active network in use. You may not be able to access all network services until this is corrected. Apply correct network settings now?
Your current operator (40441) is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor. Would you like to select another network provider?
Then its searching and tells its not there and ask to choose other network.
I am in chennai and using aircel prepaid.
Well i changed to Airtel its the same. but since airtel was in the network setting it dint show any error, but its still same. it will hang.
Now i tried vodafone, its perfectly working, i enabled the gprs, everything is fine. Just want to know wats the problem and how to rectify. And to work it on all networks. Its in warranty.
Sorry: i dont know where to post so i made a new thread. Please help.
Regarding HTC P34oo problem
Hi Frnd,
Me too had the same problem, Am using Airtel (Chennai). First when i newly bought this phone (HTC) iam not able to send messages properly. also i cant able to receive calls properly. After that i came to know that there's a compactibility problem with airtel and HTC. Temporarily they provide a software for this problem, we can update this software in authorized service centers. I updated the software, after updation the call problems are solved fully, also message problem was reduced... but still am not satisfied with the messaging service. The service person said they working on providing a permanent solution, so soon we can expect the software upgrade which solves this problem permanently, except the messaging service the phone is good ! thanks !

How to find lost HD2 via GPS? (Microsoft My Phone)

Dear xda-users.
Sadly I have lost my HD2 after a having it for a week. I have tried to locate it via Microsoft My Phone but it failed me.
My network operator has blocked the sim-card and the phone's IMEI number.
Does anyone know if it is possible to track it down even when the phone has ran out of power and does?
Anybody know any company who is able to track devices?
I hope you can help me.
Regards
Razir.
Well if the SIM card is blocked, there is no way how the device would let you know. It could use wifi, but even if wifi was on, HD2 wont connect unknown networks until told so.

No power, no way.
if its out of power u wont track it... ull have to wait till someone finds it... recharges it and connects to network.. thats only way how to track it (it broadcasts its imei over network).. even if they hard reset it which would kill myphone tracking
dont know about any companies but in slovakia it is prohobited by law to track down cell phones... before ppl were able to do that by calling police but not anymore

If you asked the network to block the IMEI you're pretty much screwed. If it wasn't blocked, someone could take the phone, change SIM, and hopefully turn it on without hard resetting, which you'd be able to see on myphone. But as the IMEI is blocked, even if he did that, the network wouldn't let it connect, so it wouldn't be able to tell it's position.
Except if the guy connects to a wifi. But he'd certainly think about hard resetting before that.
Thank you guys. Your answers have been useful.
As it might be a little late for you now I ran across this program called Ultimate Theft Alert. If you would have had this application installed you might have been able to locate your phone. Or at least tell you who has it.
http://www.wm6software.net/utilities/_ultimate_theft_alert_v35_.html
I'd like to blatantly push a free and VERY full featured program here called remote tracker. Lets you do all the phone tracking stuff, send it a text and it sends you back a link to google maps with lcation, location based on gps and/or cell towers, it can record a 5 minute gps track and send it to you, it has sim swap alert, wipe your simcard, wipe sd card, run scripts remotely, lock up your phone, throw up messages on screen, have the phone call you back, it is soft reset friendly (hard reset proof if you cook it in yourself),,,
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/
oh, and no i'm not the author, and nor do i get a kickback
oh, and it can respond by text, email or ftp (or all the above)
edit - sorry to the OP :-(
Hi guys,
I also lost my HTC HD2 but didn't speak to my network yet, so do I have any chance to find it?? any idea how?
Thanks

Hey I am in a similar situation. Can youplease confirm. If I DO Unblock the IMEI from my carrier, will the myphone service be able to locate the HD2 even if it does now have a new SIM card in it?
I lost the phone O/S and would do anything to get it back - I have it registered to the microsoft myphone service. Now that I am back home, I got a new sim card with the same number. Will the myphone service search via IMEI or does it need my active sim card in it?
Thanks
Myphone ONLY uses the sync relationship with the phone. The position is updated when the phone is synced. So the position you see is the one of the last sync, and if the new "owner" is clever enough to hard reset your phone, you'll never get position updates again.

Cant send MMS's or send anything Via Bluetooth?

Hello, as the title explains I cannot send MMs's even though I have already contacted O2 to send the settings to my phone, I have sent ACTIVE to 2020 as well & nothing comes back?
My phone is a HD2 which was unlocked from T-mobile to O2, it was 'sim locked' to T-mobile but now i can send messages & receive them without any problems also make & send calls as well as access the internet.
But for some reason I cant send MMS's
Another problem is the Bluetooth feature?, I can find other devices no problem but am unable to send anything at all to these found devices? I can send things to my HD2 phone without any trouble?
Any help would be appreciated
