Please guys help me!
I'm fighting to bring a BT GPS with an MDA III to work, but nooo luck and I'm getting very very sad...
I've discovered so far that with the official ROM 1.42 (WM2003SE) it works fine when I manually start the BT connection with serial port service.
Now the problem is that in WM5 and WM6 there is no manual connection ability (maybe another "smart feature") and there is the ****ing GPS Driver of WM. So I'm trying to get a TomTom 6.03 and an iGO to work but nothing at all
Really tried nearly all combinations to configure but zero luck.
It's totally disappointing....
Please tell me how do you use you BT GPS
UPDATE: problem solved with Xplode-s new ROM.

Hi. I was previously ActiveSyncing ok via my bluetooth dongle, and then I installed Towa's bluetooth fix, which works great with my GPS system.
However, now I can't ActiveSync with my laptop anymore.
It could be something else, but before I waste a lot of time on this, I just want to know this. Has anyone managed to get the Towa fix working with both GPS and ActiveSync? If someone says yes, I'll persevere with sorting things out my end, though I'm thinking that maybe there's a conflict?

/me says yes. Or, to rephrase, that: right at this moment my MDA II is talking to both my Fortuna Clip-On Bluetooth GPS and my desktop machine via bluetooth simultaneously. ActiveSync and TomTom both run, and both work without a problem. I have Towa's patch installed, or course.
Occasionally, however, ActiveSync on my desktop machine (!) seems to lose contact to the Bluetooth dongle. Rebooting helps. Did you try that? Also, a soft reset of the MDA cannot hurt.
Cheers
Daniel
Many thanks. I've got up and running myself. Turned out I had to re-install my bluetooth dongle on the PC. Almost certainly nothing to do with the Towa extensions, which have worked flawlessly from the first.

ive noticed the same, but if i activesync with the PC via bluetooth *first* then install the towa patch it works fine
but if i install the towa patch *first* and try and connect via activesync it dosent work
only GPS works then!
anyone with the same problem?
any help?
GPS BURTOOTH
hi iv installed software on xda2 and it can see my bluetooth gps but it runs very slowly about 500m behind me is there any way of speeding it up please as i need it so much every day cheers everyone
I also experienced the same thing as jgadallah. Towa's patch works beautifully with my BT devices (headset, GPS & AS) so long as you create the partnership with the PC for activeSYnc first BEFORE installing the patch. BUT I can never activesync with Towa's patch if the patch is installed BEFORE the bond is created with the PC and XDA.
To overcome this, I always create the partnership first with my PC (say after a hard reset) then only install Towa's patch.

This does not sound like a problem with the Bluetooth connection (which either works or doesn't), but with your GPS receiver. Does it use XTrac mode? If so, this is a known effect - better reception under difficult circumstances, but a lag of some ten seconds.
There are forums where all this is discussed. Unfortunately, the only one I know is in German - if you understand German, have a look at www.pocketnavigation.de. Otherwise, maybe someone else can point you to an English forum?
Cheers

Have spent a long time trying to get my tomtom5 navigator working on my mda and now have it all going lovely - however I cant get my bluetooth reciever to be seen by tomtom. It is one of the BT-77 one that you see loads of on Ebay - did used to have it working with my old phone but not this one?
Any ideas - cant give up now!
Thanks
ROger
I have the same problem with an xdalls with a BT338 bluetooth gps.
I can get it to pair up. Tomtom5 does not see it though. Been thru all the settings that i can thing of.... i have the blue light flashing fast and then just logs off.
Paul
I have the BT-77 (also from ebay) and it works perfectly with the TomTom 5.21 software...
I had trouble with it initially too- it's to do with setting the right COM ports.
To get things working, I downloaded and installed Pocket Bluetooth Tools:
http://www.bluetooth.jazztel.es/ Download version 1.0.1.2
Delete any existing pair that you may have with the GPS receiver...
Re-pair the device with the above software installed, and now you will get an iconic menu, use the serial port option and select an available COM port. Complete pairing procedure as per on screen instruction.
Now start up TomTom and go to GPS options in preferences- select 'other bluetooth device' and now you should see the something called 'BT on COMx' x being the port you assigned earlier of course. Complete configuration.
Wait for the receiver to get a fix and you should be ready to go.
I've used the Pocket Bluetooth Tools many times on different variants of the Magician and has work everytime.
Hi
thanks for the info - but still nothing
cant cope anymore
will buy a whole new system i think!
Thanks anyway
Roger

Hi!
Just registered to try and find out how to get my MDA II working with a bluetooth GPS and I find this thread. Thank you for the link to the bluetooth tools it seems to have worked a treat.
Cool. Glad it is working for you guys.
The software also works well with using Bluetooth and ActiveSync.
Hi All
I have the above setup and am having a nightmare trying to get the bluetooth GPS to work. I have tried every setting I can find and even upgraded the ROM to 1.90.96 to see if that helped but still no joy. Basically whichever COM port I assign 0,4,5 or 8 (the only options allowed) it shows up in the "Other Bluetooth GPS receiver" catergory in TT6 but it will not connect. I have also noticed that the only time the BT LED on the Holox device flashes is during the initial pairing with the jasjar, before the device default password "0000" is added. Once this function has been completed tthe light remains solid and tt6 does not recieve the gps signal.
I know the Holox unit and the TT6 is working fine as I have tried it on an old HP 1940 with wm2003 and it works perfectly.
Has anyone got any ideas, suggestions or experienced the same problems
When you set up the Pairing with the GPS receiver use COM0 and select the serial port. Once this is done, set up a new outgoing COM port and make sure that the "Enable secure connection" box IS NOT checked. My Exec never works with any BT GPS receivers if this box is checked.
Then in Tomtom set use other BT GPS receiver and select COM0.
Pug.
Hi Pug
No joy I'm afraid. Have tried this more times than i care to mention but TT^ will not recognise the gps device.
Sounds like a problem with your BT stack then. If it worked on your other device then it's obviously a problem with the Uni. Seen as this isn't a common problem, might be some problem with your setup. Thinking about it now, Tomtom overwrites some BT files during install, as you seem to be using an AKU3.2 ROM which will have updated BT stack, try deleting these from the windows folder.
ttn6bt2003.dll
BtCoreIf.dll
BtSdkCE30.dll
If it doesn't work, you can always re-install TT6

Still No joy with Jasjar, Holox BT-321 GPS & Tomtom 6
Hi All
I've tried all fixes for the above problem suggested by pug and mavrik64 earlier on this thread but without success. This is a little frustrating to say the least. The Jasjar has had clean install with nothing loaded other than the default programs included with the latest ROM build 1.90.96 from Jwrightmcps, the UK 'O2' setup and TomTom 6. As I know the software and Holox unit work fine on my old HP1940 running on wm2003, I'm convinced it is something in WM5 that is giving me the problem. I have read other forums were other people appear to have similar problems.
Please note; the main reason I flashed the ROM from that previously installed 1.30.76 was to try and find a fix for this problem. The older version gave me exactly the same problem.
Anyone got any ideas
I am using Ivans Beta 15 and no problems, try flashing with that.
You have a new PM in a few moments as well.
PUG
Any idea where I can get hold of a copy of Ian's Beta 15 ROM. I've trawled round this site but can't seem to locate it

Sorry to hear this didn't work. I am using JCs current rom with TT6 and Holux GPSlim 236 and it works like a charm.
Good luck
Mav
I'm just going crazy with this problem:
I installed TT6 on the I-mate Jamin, connected to the BT GPS Holux GPSlim236 and it was working. After some hours or days, when I launch TT6, it does not recognize the BT GPS, it displays " no GPS (flight mode)" also if BT is active on the pda.
I tried also to update the firmware to the LvsW AKU 2.3.1 that should be very stable but the problem arised again. If I install again TT& it works again for some hour only.
Anothe strange behaviour is that TT6 is not trying to activate automatically the BT when launched, while after the installation it was.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance
did you disabled the phone?
when the phone is off, even if bluetooth is on, tomtom can not communicate with any bluetooth gps.
a new hope...
Maybe yes, I disabled the phone, as I was doing in my previous iPaq WM2003. I will follow your indication and give feedback asap. The strange thing is that other GPS programs are working with the BT GPS even if the phone is disabled.
Thank you! I could solved it!
Thank you, adl67-san, zadigre-san.
I had same problem with my QTEK9000 & TomTom6.
The problem was TomTom6 can not find GPS receiver(Holux GPSlim240).
But after Phone function is ON, it works well.
(Normally, I use my QTEK9000 without SIM.)
This problem has bother me for 1 month.
Now I can use it.
Thanks a lot again.
Sincerely yours,
I just recently upgraded my 8525 to the new AT&T Rom update and can't get my Tom Tom One to pair correctly with the 8525. On the Tom Tom it says no services are available.

There is lots of advice here and on http://www.modaco.com/HTC-Hermes-HermesMoDaCocom-f204.html but you ned to be clearer about what you need help with. Are you Blutooth pairing a Tom Tom GPS Receiver with your 8525? Can you get the 8525 to actually pair with the receiver succesfully?
Sorry but you may already know all this - but it's unclear and I see this is your first post. There are plenty who can help if you can provide more information.
Regards
He's trying to pair a TomTom One GPS Navigation unit to the 8525. Likely to access online services like traffic, weather, etc..
As for an answer on the Bluetooth, the only thing I can think of is make sure you can pair other devices, and give the phone a reset. My bluetooth acts wierd sometimes and a reset is all it needs.
What services are you trying to access from the 8525?
I am trying to update traffic info on tom tom via the data connection from the 8525. The 8525 sees the tom tom when looking for devices and tom tom tries to pair with 8525, but it will fails with the following message
The required features could not be found for this phone.
*bump* I have exactly the same problem! (running Black 3.0.1)
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions??
I love the Hermes, but unfortunately going to have to return it to provided in a few days if there's no way of getting a Bluetooth DUN profile working with the TomTom. Damned Microsoft!
Any solution for this would be greatly appreciated! Is there perhaps a replacement stack available which would solve this?
Nick
*bump*
Are there any ROM experts out there who could answer this definitively?
I need to know if there is any possibility of the Bluetooth DUN being added to WM6, or if it's been done, as I need to return the phone to T-mobile in the next few days if there is no chance!!
Much appreciated...
Nick
Bump. Is there no solution for this problem of bluetooth DUN support at all right now? Would appreciate if one of the knowledgeable techies here could answer.
Otherwise the Hermes has to be returned tomorrow, which will suck. lol
TIA, Nick.
same problem here. seemed to work fine until i upgraded to new rom from att. so im sure the problem is within the rom
I just purchased my 8525 and can't get it to pair with my TomTom One. My 8125 worked just fine. Anybody find a work around? Are there any cooked roms that it will work on? I'm happy to upgrade a rom if it makes it work.
TIA

None of the cooked roms have DUN in them. Stupid MS decided that PAN was much cooler so they removed DUN making bunches of devices unusable with the Hermes.
