Normally i carry my ipod..but tomorrow i wanna try X1 as my music player.
which is the best way to get music on it?
drag n drop .. or use Windows media player to sync?
or is there a better way?
a matter of taste really
if you want to keep using itunes you can
use itune agent to sync to your x1
How do you do that?
It will be awesome if i can sync my Itunes to my xperia. I have a 16GB SD card i want to put some stuff into lol.
I use foobar to listen on pc and whenever I want something on the device I just copy/paste it from the player to the phone. Simple as that.
you use itune agent but
well downloading and using it

You can only synchronize ONE iTunes playlist to your device with iTune agent. There are two other programs that should be able to synchronize multiple playlists with your device: Salling Media Sync and Pocket Tunes.
yes man you can mange you music withe this step
setting > Connection> usb to pc > and select Disk Drive it is Better and speed
I have tried everything. The best music player/manager for any windows mobile device, is strangely a freeware app, Mortplayer. I have installed this on my wife's X1i, and it displays beautifully, even album art etc. There is now an update for this app with a nice Vista style skin. Other skins are available. Very cool MP3 player indeed. It also plays Ogg files etc etc etc.
I want to know of a good program to manage my music on my comp and x10, i use VLC atm but its not great, ive tried double twist and both the desktop app and the actual app are crap and im never guna use itunes, so let me know what you use recomend
I use mediamonkey...IMO it's the best music manager out there.
and on the x10 I sometimes use mediascape but prefer using btunes (its has an ipod like interface)
I just use the good old "copy and paste" method.
I'm using double twist. The android app is pretty and then I found out it had desktop software too. I came.

Same. As long as your tags are accurate than this is the simplest method.
I use mixzing and then itunes, agent which will sync my selected music.
I just wish songbird would support the x10.

+1 - Windows Explorer is the only tool I use
Am I right in assuming that those of you that only copy and paste...dont use playlists?
Double twist / iTunes & iPhoto on OSX.
I've got a media library of 10000+ lossless, I'd die of old age if i had to use copypasta and couldn't automatically transcode and sync playlists.

I use Media Go and Mediascape. Like with all new softwares, it took me a while to get use to the UI of both but now it's like second nature. I like media go's Gracenote since most of my music are downloaded from Youtube videos. Gracenote puts the information automatically which allows phone to download the album art cover. I also like the ability to create playlist coz I like the option to be able to play music by mood.
I use good ol' Total Commander
Left Pane: music directory on the PC.
Righ Pane: music directory on the SD Card.
MediaGo people give it alot of flak, but I think its not that bad. Get my podcasts, music, playlists, pictures and videos organized and auto syncs

I use the cut-and-paste method, and use playlists too. I simply create the playlists in Windows (e.g. use Winamp) and then cut-and-paste the m3u playlist file to the phone as well. Mediascape detects the playlist fine.

i need a good MEDIA Player, and a good sync client.
I have more than one device, i have a milestone as well. and i change devices like the wind.
lastly i have mood playlists and these msut be synced well.
so I use Windows Media Player in Windows 7. its magic.
Great Media Player, and does sync pretty well with the sync.
I have a problem with Double twist. Seems when it transfers m4a files encoded by Itunes, (I used to use OS Crap), it doesnt transger the tags. so half my librtary (Music I actually bought and encoded, vs downloading on the Bay) all gets lumped in the Unknown artist area, even though the tags are in the desktop app.
WMP doesnt sync playlists unless you use MTP protocol, (ie it will only transfer and check if the song in a playlist exists, but it wont actually tranfer the playlist file itself)
so i manually export the playlist files onto the device.
that way i have one media program on my computer.
Hi all,
Is there any alternative coz Mediascape is boring and slow.
For images: JustPictures!
For video: RockPlayer
For music: MixZing
Unfortunately, in order to replace Mediascape, you need 3 different programs.
But if you really hate it, it's worth it.
I don't mind Mediascape for my pictures, but for your music and video I suggest Meridian.
I keep it for photos and videos but for music I've gone back to the stock Android music.apk. I gotta have my playlists!
Zimly looks cool too, and I just dl the latest beta from real player from the market which I will test today...

Confused. The version of Mediascape on my x10 plays all my playlists. Imports them through MediaGo, never had a problem at all.

Try also Tunewiki... Facebook/Twitter integration, lyrics on-screen etc.
It's pretty fast.
I don't like mediascape either, i'm testing ³ for music and is great!
Erasing mediascape make the camera useless?

Since my W810 ( > W760 > C905 ) I've never needed anything other than my phone to make a playlist. I've never needed any of SE's software (besides the actual firmware on the phone of course ;-) ) to transfer music, etc. When I'm working out or sitting in the doctor's office its nice to be able to grab a couple of songs from Amazon, make a playlist, then go back to playing a game or surfing the web.
Besides, my first exposure to Android was this forums project placing 2.2 onto the Tilt 2. The default player is pretty good as far as I'm concerned.

Ahh gottca. Can't make playlists in Mediascape...I see what you mean now.
I use an app called Just Playlists that works for me. But I hear the problem..seems odd that Mediascape does not make them inhouse.
I use Museek for music, great player. Both Mediascape and Timescape are useless.

Nope, the camera works perfect without Mediascape.
I uninstalled it and now found out, that the only problem is that I can't send my music files via Realplayer.
There is no "send file" option in Realplayer.
Apart from that, Realplayer is better than Mediascape for pictures and music imho.
For videos Realplayer can't play I use Rockplayer.
Btw:
If you uninstall Timescape you won't be longer able to use your contacts.
Clicking on a contact in the phone app does nothing.
Before I uninstalled timescape, my phone displayed the available phone numbers and I was able to click the one I want to call.
Thanks for hit on Just Playlists.
I went back to Mediascape just to show it one of my iFriends ( ) and found that it pulls up the playlists generated by the music.apk. So while its a tiny bit cumbersome it does make it more usable.
i am using this:
mixzing for music
rockplayer for videos

How did you get the defualt music player? Ive got the APK but when i try to install it says it already is.
what is the best media player and sync for epic..
i have used poweramp and doubletwist..both with high reviews.. but i m not interested in paid version (poweramp) and double twist does the job for now ..
but syncing is a hassle...i tried air sync and thats completely broken since somehow it reduced the bitrate to 64kbps for all 320kbps songs i had... i tried media monkey to sync but its not consistent... didnt try media player. .. winamp also works but making it see the phone is a headache..sometimes it sees.. sometimes it doesnt...
what do you use?? or do u just copy folders directly??? all the album art etc is messed up right now on my phone and even the id3 tags are messed up using media monkey( it has the right ones)...
just want to get your thoughts.

Throw songs on your sd. Android will group them through media scanner. If you like the wifi thing.. try es file explorer. You'd have to setup a network share on your media pc though. Btw I really like mortplayer. Probably the most customizeable player out there.
cd's or tapes?

MediaMonkey does it well for me.
I use doubletwist with air sync. I dont transfer songs too often, but when I do doubletwist has been pretty good with the wireless sync. I like the player too since its simple and has a nice, clean widget. It also now has lockscreen controls which are good or annoying if you dont wanna pause the song lol
Drag and Drop with Windows Explorer to sync....
TouchWiz media player (DK28).... I'd prefer that it didn't stop my song at 10% battery life but other than that it just works.
There ya go... simple and effective
So I will be recieving this beauty Next week and I was looking around but cant seem to find the answer.
I wish to stream my WMP or Itunes playlists on my tablet when I am home.
I did buy a Portable HD, but not really usefull to always copy my computer playlists over it and such.
Really looking for a streaming option.
I don't know how enamored/entrenched with iTunes you are, but once i entered the android world, I moved my music over to google music. It can be streamed or downloaded to your devices via Google's music app.

Google music will automatically import all your iTunes / wmv music and auto sync from that point forward.
Google music > iTunes

Yes, though you'll need to sign up with a US proxy (just for the signup, after that you don't need to worry about it).
Also, download Skifta or some other DNLA app and you can stream shared music and movies from your network (WinXP/Vista/7/8 machines, XBox360, PS3, and more support DNLA).
EDIT: See you have an S2X...Samsung calls their DNLA client for their phones and tablets AllShare, if you've used that, Skifta does pretty much the same thing.
Yeah i got skifta using it for vids. But I found that for music it wasnt great. Just managed to sync my principl plulist on google music!looks good

My only concern with Google Music is there is no offline player. If your net connection goes you loose the ability to play your music.
OK you could just navigate to the folders and play them as they are, or use something like iTunes but it kinda defeats the point

Think you missed the point. I was specifically talking about desktop support where the local hard copies of your music are stored
I don't see why it is a problem that you can play your music with any application that you would like to.
I'm confused why your desktop is even in the discussion. Google Music will let you stream music to your tablet or phone without any interaction with your desktop. You can continue to use your desktop as you do now.
If you want something that streams directly from your desktop then look into Subsonic.
