sync in Linux - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

It's possible?
Can anyone explain how I can do it?
Thanks in advance

Are you reffering about linux on your PPC or on your Desktop pc?
If you are refering about Desktop PC, on Ubuntu(Lastest linux compatibile with all windows programs) there is a suport for Palms, you yust need to google for support for Windows Mobile.
On your PPC, i dont know exzacly but I'm sure that you can find a solution somewhere on this Forum. Use Search.

Raki is the Linux replacement for active sync. It's part of the sync-kde suite. If using Ubuntu or another Debian-based distro, use "sudo apt-get install sync-kde". Google "raki linux" for everything else.
This link is for mepis, bit it'll apply to ubuntu, debian, suse etc. too.

No way, I'm not using that buggy crap. MS DOS 6.0 rulezz!!111!!
wot about something even more stable
Can anyone write some basic code and translate the roms to Audio cassette format, hook up a tape drive to the orbit and use my old spectrum?
Simple......
Not as stupid as it sounds
This isn't as bad an idea as it sounds,
1. Install VMWare
2. Create and XP guest machine ensuring to enable USB devices
3. Install Windows XP on the guest
4. Install VMWARE tools on the guest
5. Install Activesync on the guest, reboot the guest to allow it to pickup and install the PocketPC
Thus you have yourself a dedicated machine for mucking about with rom's etc.
I just upgraded my Atremis to WM6 via the VMware guest and it worked perfectly.
note. Getting VMWare running on Vista (esp x64) can be interseting, hunt through forum posts tho and you should get it running ok. (Had to modify the BDC to allow undisgned drivers in my case!)

Er. it was a joke, I update ROM's regularly on Windows Vista with no difficulties, that is way too much trouble.

Development for WM under Linux?

Hi all,
few weeks ago I deleted Windows and started using Ubuntu (nice OS), but it looks like it isn't possible to develop any applications for Windows Mobile.
Visual Studio 2005, Embedded VC++,... doesn't run under WINE.
I tried to use VirtualBox with WindowsXP, but it was terribly slow.
Is it possible to develop applications for WM under Ubuntu?
(Don't tell me to use dualboot, I want to have clean PC without some Windows sh*ts!)
Thanks
I would also like to know this.
you should trie Eclipse IDE!
If Eclipse doesn't fit, search for some of it's derivates.
There are several... many for Java, but also some for PHP (PDT) and
CSS/(x)HTML (Aptana Studio).
Hope I could help you!
If your VM is too slow,
start using a down-stripped version of WinXP!
(f.e. TinyXP -- nothing illegal, avail. via torrent -> u need a valid serial, of course!)
You can also create your own Tiny Xp..search fo a tool called
1. nLite For XP
2. vLite For Vista

Check http://cegcc.sf.net
arm-wince-mingw32ce can be used to compile many wince programs
if you write/adapt the Makefiles
you can maybe make compact framework .net apps using http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page
mono
Actually, you should think of downloading WM 5/6 SDK and... using it with right cross-GCC.
Yes, I was right: http://cegcc.sourceforge.net/

phone hacking from ubuntu?

I have no more windows computer for hacking my phone, leaving me only with ubuntu 10.10 64 bit. I did a search on here, and saw someone mentioned heimdall frontend. my problem is, even though it's written for debian (the base of ubuntu), it doesn't want to install on ubuntu. does anyone know of a program that works for ubuntu? or why it won't install?

androidVNC to webtop

I have the idea that Just as the Ubuntu hacks for android work, we could use androidVNC to connect and view the webtop from the phone without HDMI or the dock, using the phones screen.
Another thing is many of us are using SystemR89's ubuntu hack, with Gnome or LXDE so then all we need is to have tightVNCserver installed as well in the Ubuntu eviroment. Do the steps provided in the above site androlinux.com and trigger that Ubuntu Session to start and then connect on loopback should work.
As I recall ubuntu.sh sets up the soft links or Binds. I don't recall what Booubuntu does but it appears to chroot you to the Ubuntu enviroment for install of the rest of the packages.
I don't think we need to mess with those, they have been done by SystemR89's WebtopMOD. We just need to Chroot to the Ubuntu.disk and give the command "export USER=root" and "vncserver -geometry 1024x800" to start the VNC server Then connect via AndroidVNC.
You'll note that our Phone already has a ubuntu.sh on the root directory. Evidence that moto basically copied the work??? IDK.
I'm looking for some ideas or help from someone who knows ubuntu better then me on how to do this.
I'll hack at it a bit and see if I can get anywhere.
I doubt too many people will find this useful, maybe I'm wrong though. If it would be helpful to you let me know, it will add to my drive to figure it out.

[Q] linux shell on windows phone

hello,

Thank you in advance for any answer or idea.
Yes, it is possible but you need Linux kernel compiled for your phone. See in other threads about getting Linux on phones.

HAReT - a tool that boots LINUX on your Windows MOBILE (I am not sure, that it can help if you have Windows PHONE)
