C#.Net, compact framework - capture streaming video from the camera - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some C# code for utilising the camera of my PPC, so I can stream video (to ultimately use my PPC as a webcam of sorts).
a link to some sample code would be greatly appreciated, as I cant seem to find anything useful!
Cheers,
Dave.

Developing a video recorder

Hi,
I'm a newbie developing for PocketPC. Can anyone point me how to start developing a video recorder using the built-in camera on a XDA-III? I also need to have access to individual frames to perform some image interpretation such as motion detection. Any help is usefull. I use Visual Studio 2003
Thank you,
Miguel
the easy way would be to get some code as to how it's don on pc because
how you access frames from the streams are the same if you use a pda or pc
the files are still mp4 or avi or ...... what you set them to
if you grab and then work with the ripped file
if you want to do it real time you face 2 issues
1 the camera API is not public from HTC
2 the cpu's in pda's even though they are fast Mhz are much much slower then even pc cpu's of the same speed so real time checking the stream could be impossible
Hi Rudegar,
Thanks for the reply! On the PC i usually use a wrap library for DirectShow i don't think it's available for the PocketPC. Do you know where i can get the camera API?
did a search in this foruk for camera api and here are some hits i got

No.
It doesn't have the required software. Nor does it have video input. It isn't powerful enough to do MPEG2 (or 4) encoding on the fly (other than the terrible QVGA 10FPS you can do with the camera), and it doesn't have enough built in storage to record much. Other than that, it's perfect
thanks!!!!!

mpeg4 rtsp

Is there anything out there for WM2003 (or possibly WM2005, not necessarily my M1500) that will allow me to recieve Streaming MPEG4 over RTSP ?
The horrible Realplayer does the job on the PC, but I need a hand held device to do it, my M1500 (XDA2i) would be ideal, but I am open to sugestions on this too.
Any info most appreciated!
Thanks peeps
I wrote a big post about trying CorePlayer/TCPMP, then realised DUR, it doesn't support RTSP.
Tried RealPlayer PPC version? I have an installer (ActiveSync) on my PC if you want me to upload it and pass it on to you to try...
Thanks for the reply, I have just found Real PPC, but cannot get it to work.
I have a streaming device, which with a laptop that i can Ad Hoc to and recieve the stream via Real, using the rtsp://<ip>ort/Name in the open location field. However, exactly the same process does not open the rtsp on the PPC. I'm struggling to see what could be wrong, as there are simply not that many things to change.
If you have any ideas, (or can explain why i put /Name in the ulr, as i don't understand that bit of the line) then please let me know. Have you got Real PPc to work?
Thanks

Live video upload?

Heyas, anyone know if there is a way to stream live video to an external source? (ie, wirelessly to a web/stream server)
Looks like WebCamera Plus will do it. Any other solutions are welcome.
Atecsoft coolcamera available on ftp does this.

view webcam thru ba?

is there any software i can view webcam thru ba? thxs
It would help if you could be a bit more specific.
Image from built-in camera you can see pressing... camera button.
i wanted to put a web cam at my office n warehaus and view it at my ba , is there any software for this ? hope it's a freeware hehehe
thxs in advance
It depends on the webcam and the way you are going to connect it to the Internet. Theoretically streaming is possible, but it might be hard to find a way to stream the video for BA to accept it.
so is it possible? n i'll be using a ordinary webcam , thxs
You mean USB Webcam? this might be a bit difficult, because there is no straightforward software that is able to stream video. For sure you have to look for 3rd party software.
