Hi guys,
I have searched up and down this forum and other forums, some problems get close but none of them hits the spot.
I am using an HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6 Professional, Version: CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) and link it via Bluetooth with the car navigation system Becker Cascade 7944.
The link is established but calls are muted. Becker had this problem with some other phone models too and brought out an update version 3.7.
Now the calls are not muted anymore, but the sound is distorted. It sounds like the loudspeaker is broken. In short: not usable.
I posted this problem with Becker and after the update version 3.7 they sent me this mail (translated from German):
Dear xxxxxxxxx,
the System-Software 3.7 was sent to a lot of customers as update. Only
positive results came from this and we did receive no negative replies or
complaints except for two models from HTC.
Please contact the manufacturer of the mobile device and ask for a
possible software update.
We regret we can’t give you any other answer.
Sincerely

Then I sent a fax to HTC Europe headquarters asking them for support and /or a solution. Nothing heard from them.
I then sent a fax with the HTC Europe headquarters fax attached to the Chairman of HTC (see www.htc.com) in Taiwan. Same result, no reply!
In the french forum www.planete-htc.com they have a post that the CAB-file WM6_BT_DUN.cab could solve the problem. I have not installed this file yet, since I don't know what it does or if it solves the problem.
Could it be that HTC uses a different bluetooth stack or CODEC-files?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot

Hi!
I've got the same problem with an other phone from HTC (MDA Vario 3 from T-Mobile) and my Becker Cascade. Spoke with Becker, no solution in sight. They said I've to talk with the producer of my mobile ..... grrr.
Bye the way, if you make a call and after being connected with the other side you can press "private" in the options menu to give the call back to the phone. Then again press "private" in the options menu and you have a clear connection without distortion!
Bye, Peter (Germany)
PS: Tried the CAB-file, no change
hi @ all I have the same problem with a becker Casscade pro and Firmware 3.61 and - now - 3.70.
This problems is only with HTC devices that have installed Windows mobile 6, (Wings, Kaiser, Touch..) with the older ones like T-Mobile Vario and Windows Mobile 5 it works fine.
by the way the same problem, the other side hear no sound from you, and you hear the other scrambled
and it is not depend to use Sim access profile or normal earphone profile.
maybe i think, the Becker car radios are not longer supported from the manufactur..
the right way is, to change the bluetooth stack on the HTC devices. there are some parameters between mobile and bluetooth called EHR
and this parameters are wrong. maybe by HTC configuration or Becker
A Nokia E61i and many other WM5 devices works well with Becker casscade pro.
i can try tomorrrow some AT&T Models with windows mobile 6 (Samsung and some other) maybe they works...
soon, now i test a becker casscade with a samsung shg 6xx smartphone with WM6.
BT Profile works very well with casscade 3.70 firmware.
so it´s a problem of all actually HTC devices with WM6 i think.
maybe we should change the BT Stack was inatlled as default...

Hi joy.d,
I thought of the same solution.
I tried one of ROM cooking guys in this forum about how to change the BT software, but no reply.
Do you know how to change the BT stack on the HTC?
By the way I am using the HTC with the Jabra BT320s and the Plantronics Discovery 640X. Both work well.
And the Cascade worked and works with all other phones I know of. There is a forum in Germany for the Cascade and they report only problems with the HTC.
Also, some in this forum have reported BT problems with the HTC Touch.
So, please let me know if the BT software upgrade/change works.
Take care
baucis99
hmm.. i have no time to cook my own rom with fixed bluetooth drivers. (maybe the actually bt version from broadcom, better knows as widcomm stack works well) we think in our company to change from htc to other manufactor, the bt problems not the only one problems ;-)
but if i found somethink i will tell you please let me know if you find something.
p.s. the BT update for htc kaiser dont change or helps.
maybe becker has a problem with her integration of bluetooth.. with the most bluetooth headsets works the htc devices. (i test over 20 different BT Headsets with HTC devices, but the most with WM5)
Same problems
I have the same problems. HTC Mobile 6 with Becker Cascade. To work around this issue, press [Private] in the [Options]Menu, once in a call, and then return back following the same keysequence.
According to the User Manual, Becker only supports the bluetooth HFP1.0 profile...
Hmm, and the Windows Mobile 6 Devices supports:
A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)
HFP1.0 (Hands-Free Profile)
HSP (Headset Profile)
It´s work with a Samsung blackjack, so i think the Problem is by the provided BT Stack from HTC..
Headset profile
When the connection to the phone is made, a headset icon appears in the upper homescreen. It seems that the headsetprofile is initially used. When you execute the private workaround, the phone switches to handsfree...
hmm, i tried it with this private funktion, but the quality of sound is not really good or better. is not a really funtional workaround. I have test the Becker cascade now with an Asus P750 Phone, and it works well too..
i think it is a HTC Problem.
Cascade Pro + HTC Kaiser
Hi Guys
I am experiencing exactly the same problem with my HTC Kaiser and Becker Cascade Pro 7941. It really makes you upset when no one helps you, becker says its handset manufacturer's fault and HTC dont even bother to reply.
yes, that´s sad. if you found a solutions let it know us, in germany, there are some more users with exactly same problem. :-(

Hi... not 100% related, but I have an HTC VOX and that works fine with the Becker High Speed Pro 7945 (same software as the Cascade) which I recently flashed to v3.6. The Becker works fine with 2 other HTC phones that I have, SP5 and SDA. The only difference is that the VOX actually displays the signal strength bars on the Becker bottom RH corner...
NOT all roses I am afraid as since I flashed my Becker, I lost ALL navigation functions..... but all other functions including the phone still work...
hi fwd, but your Fox and the other devices is running with Windows mobile 5, right?
With WM5 all devices from HTC works fine with becker

Hi
I wondered if anyone had successfully used the Sim Access Profile capabilkity of the of TyTn to connect with a Bluetooth car kit. I'm trying to get the connection going with a Merc. car kit, but I can't get them to pair.
Thx
Hi petes, I have an slk 55 amg with command and bluetooth. The bluetooth in the command system does not work for pairing with a phone. Even though it says it has bluetooth. To use bluetooth you need an extra module.
Hope this helps...

Hi Dale
Thanks. I actually already have the module - the european version of the module is different to the US one in that it uses Sim Access Profile, rather than just acting as a headset. The TyTn says is supports SAP, but I just can't make it work - wondering if anyone's actually got SAP working.
pete S
Hi Petes,
I also have an Mercedes-Benz with the european bluetooth module. But I have a Qtek 9100 updated to AKU2 (Which is supposed to support SAP), but no luck at all. Actually the module can not even identify my phone and display it at the search screen of the comand screen. I tried also with a NOKIA 6230i (SAP Compatible phone) which actually I was able to see at the search list of the comand screen which means that the module is working with SAP compatible phones. What I will do next, is to try again with the new firmware I installed to my 9100 (T-Mobiles 2.21 Version) which has a SAP application for bluetooth (Something like SAP Server).
I can not do it yet because I am abroad and I will be back again 1st of September. I will let you know the results ASAP.
If you have any news from your site with TyTn please let me know because I was intending to change my 9100 to TyTn just for the SAP functionality.
Hi Barsam
The reason you can't find the 9100 when you search with the BT module is that it only looks for devices which identify themselves as Phones. The TyTn (and no doubt the 9100) identify themselves as Pocket PCs and so the (stupid!) Mercedes kit ignores them. The good news is that you can hack the registry to tell the Bluetooth stack that it's a phone. The bad news is that you can't pair with it. Getting it into the search screen doesn't mean it supports SAP - I could see my old T68 just when I was testing. Could you actually pair with the 6230i - i.e. when you see it in the list select Call?
When you're back, PM me and I'll send you the hack.
To tell you the truth I didn't try to pair the 6230i, but it's one of the phones that mercedes have tested on the bluetooth module. If I don't manage to do it with the 9100 I may get a 6230i. At least I can use the one that my brother has to test it and even copy my contacts to comand. Have you tried the hack with the TyTn? Can you tell me what is the the registry set to do that?
Where did you find out that the bluetooth module ignores enything elese than phones?
Make the following registry change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS]
"COD"=dword:52020C
On your own head etc.. Keep a copy of the current value of course. Then do a soft reset. You'll then see it as a phone. I've tried this, and can now see the phone, but can't pair. I've had a mail back from HTC that they're aware of some problem with the SAP and are working on it.
I wish a nice car kit would be released in the USA that supports SAP/850 & 1900/ external aerial...
hello,
i'm trying to get my TyTN working with my Meceder Command too... does anyone tried the English ROM-Update? Someone wrote that he can use it's TyTN with his Audi after updating the ROM. And tha Audi-MMI-System works also with SAP... perhpas after the ROM-Update it works with Mecedes Command System too...
I haven't tried it yet - I've been waiting for the TyTn update to come along, but nothing from HTC yet. If I don't get anything soon, I'll switch over to the iMate ROM and report back.
I have used a nokia 6233 6280 onmy E55 2005 with B/t Module
The mercedes module in conjuntion with the command system is problimatic, hoever I think I have another peice of the puzzle. With both the above phones they only worked using Vodaphone 3g cards Three 3g cards paired using SAP however could not get recieption....Mercedes say (there guessing) its the way the sim card is configured.....
Mercedes BT
I have a TYTN on order and Im desperate to find a solution to the issue before it arrives.....
As a follow on to my last post ...basically what I THINK found out was if the sim card was configured to work only on a 3G phone..(some networks do this so that they cannot be put in a 2.5g phone and constantly roam on).....then it would pair with the Bluetooth module in Mercedes however never get recieption.
I tried this on several phones including 6233 6280 N80 E61.....just to name a few....ALL PAIRED....however If I put a Vodaofone 3g Card in then IT worked .....IF i put a Three 3G card in it didnt.....BUMMER CAUSE I'm with THREE.....
I hope this helps in some way and Im more than happy to be corrected however these are my first hand expeirnces....I WANT TO USED THE TYTN in my MErc so Im keen to help in amy way....I have unlimited access to phones...so if anyone has any other suggestions Im happy to give it a go....
Mark
At the moment, you'll find that by default the merc kit won't even see the Tytn (it's a pocket pc, not a phone as far as Bluetooth is concerned). You can hack the registry to change this, but then the phone will be seen, but pairing will fail. Hopefully, the forthcoming firmware update will fix this - I've had mail back from HTC support to suggest they know there are problems with the SAP support.
Mercedes BT
Is there anyone who had paired Nokia phones with Mercedes BT(euro spec) successfully? I had tried for several Nokia phones (6230i/6270/6280) to pair with BT ,all failed. I can just find the 16-digit PIN on Comand, no phone appears on Comand. Phone & Comand can't find each other. Do I have to set other setting except the "bluetooth setting" for mobile phone? Even I try to "search for audio enhancements" and 'find no devices' at all .
Thanks Petes,
Did they give any idea on time frames?...Did you have any thoughts about my experience with the different sim cards....
Mark
I am considering buying the HTC TyTN and the Merc Bluetooth module so I am very keen to know if anyone can get this working.
Thanks,
Ady
Nope - no news on timescales I'm afraid - just waiting for the firmware update from HTC. I'm reluctant to try the iMate firmware at the moment - until there's an HTC to go back to in case something goes awry. Has anyone had a chance to try SAP with either of the newer firmwares (iMate or Dopod) - might give us a good clue if the HTC one's going to work.
I've connected my 6230i easily enough, just remember to allow "auto connect without confirmation" on the phone after entering the 16 digit code
I have tried my HW6915 pocket pc but like the other PPC's it is not recognised
A reply I got from HTC support on 21/09/2006 asking about the Merc SAP problem was:
At present the TyTN is only compatable with a limited number of kits. A ROM update will be released shortly to update this.

So fingers crossed that it will be soon and solve the problem.
I asked them the same thing a while ago and just checked back in on availability. Just got ...
"At present the HTC ROM for the TyTN is being written and tested and we expect it to be released in the very near future."
So, patience is a virtue I hear....
Hi,
1) has anyone any first hand experience with ANY HTC pda/phone that could autoanswer on ANY bluetooth headset
1a) my experience is NO ! (Verizon XV-6600, A&T Tilt)
2) Unless there is a yes answer to 1)....
how could this have gone unaddressed thru so many generation/models/reviews of PDA/phones ?
2a) I can't accept that this is a "feature".
Jeez, just about every "dumb" bluetooth mobile phone does it just fine.
3) For the individual(s) that offer directions to ->Settings, etc...
it doesn't work for bluetooth
4) For those that say Handsfree profile is required...
AT&T Tilt supossedly has Handsfree 1.5, and bluetooth autoanswer doesn't work !
5) This is a serious flaw/oversight/disability/etc. !
How many versions/releases from Harrier to Kaiser, to have not corrected this.
Someone from HTC please step up and address this. Please ?!
did you try PhoneAlarm.
it is possible to create a profile in phonealarm, and automaticly respond to an incoming phone call..also while using bluetooth
First step, run SAPSettings to activate the comunication between SIM an BT
Then Settings -> phone -> more -> automatic pickup is working for me.
Hi,
Neither SAP nor "bluetooth SIM access" were referenced at http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/docs/ATT_Tilt_English_GSG.pdf
Thanx anyhow.
The Tilt was already returned and I've stayed with the XV-6600 (bigger screen, coverage footprint, faster broadband, cpu "feels" faster, software/accessories investment).
I will correlate your advice with the XV-6600.
I'd like autoanswer to work, but more importantly...
I strongly feel HTC should address/correct this in their production.
Regards,
Can anyone make it work on their HTC phone ?
Hi,
Pardon the redundancy.
Omitted headset models from original post.
With HTC so visible in the PDA/phone
market, how is it that...
1) they probably don't have a unit which
can perform AUTOANSWER via any(?)
bluetooth headset
Tested (Verizon) Audiovox XV-6600
(HTC Harrier with camera)
phones: (AT&T Tilt) HTC 8925 (Kaiser)
headsets: BlueVoice, iPhono[063C],
Jabra BT110, Jabra BT200,
Logitech HS02-V07
Mobile Freedom,
Logitech HS03 V04 Traveller,
Motorola HS810,
Motorola S9 "Rokr",
Nokia BH-800, Nokia BH-900,
Nokia HS-37W, Z-E-N
2) no(?) review has ever pointed this out
3) there are a number of generations
between the models I tested,
I don't think any intermediate models
(e.g. PPC-6700) could AUTOANSWER either
How, has HTC missed this so
consistently ?
AUTOANSWER:
an incoming call will cause a handsfree headset to automatically connect to the caller within a specified number of rings and/or seconds, without wearer intervention (i.e. no buttons to push, nothing to touch).
OK, if you've read this... just try to make it work on your HTC pda/phone with any bluetooth headset you choose.
AutoAnswer is a standard feature on just about every smart or dumb phone.
So, I'm just asking for someone/anyone to confirm that it works as designed on ANY HTC pda/phones for any ONE or more bluetooth headsets.
The Sprint Mogul (PPC-6800 ?) is reputed to have undergone recent firmware upgrades adressing specifically bluetooth and other issues.
Try it !
I'm curious.
IF you get it to work, please post an affirmation to this thread of which models phone/headset were involved.

Yes...my Att 8125 aka HTC wizard and my Att 8225 aka HTC Hermes...my advice to you...learn how to use the device....
ljinsane,
I've gotten the feature to work with Motorola & Jabra headsets on (AT&T/Cingular) Motorola V600 & Razor, Sony-Ericsson T62U + DBA-10 bluetooth adapter, and a Blackjack.
I'm pretty confident it's not operator error.
What headset did you use ?
Were you indeed able to converse with whomever called you, by just waiting for the headset to stop ringing, and without touching the headset and not touching the Wizard 8125 and/or Hermes 8225 ?

Someone else (different forum) had success with the AT&T Tilt +Aliph Jawbone.

Make that the third. It sure as heck works with my Tilt using the "Stock" feature in conjunction with my S9 BT headphones.
boys i beleive it's matter of some settings.maby you must make some tests with different settings with bluetooth to manage it
in dutty's and helmi_c's lite roms and with the HTweakC_2.1b(yes with this program!!) i make the settings of bluetooth and everything works perfect.
when you open this program in kaiser you have at opening an error mesage of ""unsuported device"" but a lot of it's options works perfect in our kaisers
try it and see what i mean
Gsleon3,
That's good.
Hmmm, now you're having success with a combo

Autoanswer: Tilt + (S9 Rokr or Jawbone) - No Love
OK guys,
How come nobody's stepped up with the firmware info (at least for the successful pairings) ?
Just got back from AT&T brick&mortar (store).
They had a demo Tilt w/o SIM, but claimed it wouln't 'work' (make/receive calls ? - as it paired w/ my bluetooth headset just fine).
Anyways, store manager's Tilt used.
Also, had to open a new Aliph Jawbone and charge it for 15 minutes.
Tilt set for Autoanswer in 3 rings + Jawbone
did -NOT- work.
4 rings then silent as call went to voicemail.
So, c'mon guys I need to know those firmware levels.
A picture of your phone displaying its firmware
level would be even better, if you know what I'm saying.
Failed AutoAnswer of
AT&T Tilt marketed in Portland,OR:
ROM version : 1.57.502.2
ROM date : 08/25/07
Radio version : 1.27.12.11
Protocol version: 22.45.88.07H

I have the Spritn Mogul with the latest ROM from HTC that was released Nov. 29th. My auto answer does work. I have the Plantronics Explorer 350 Bluetooth headset.
Wooohoooo it works.

You need to read more carefully.
SAPettings
Exitao,
At first reading of your reply, I realized I'd searched the Getting Started Guide rather than the User Manual.
Just searched the user manual... no SAP.
http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/docs/ATT_Tilt_English_Manual.pdf
So, with all due respect... what has SAP and/or SAPSettings to do with "native" (out of the box) support of AutoAnswer via bluetooth in the Tilt ?
I don't know of a bluetooth phone without AutoAnswer, and the ones (excluding HTC) that I've used all performed as expected.
I apologize if you perceived my rantings as a quest for third party solutions.
My goal, is to authenticate that there is a
deficiency in bluetooth/AutoAnswer support in the Kaiser/8925/Tilt as marketed.
And, if it helps to innoculate future generations of HTC products,
that the above deficiency seems to have a "linear" heritage dating as far back as the Harrier/XV-6600.
Thirdly, I'd like the function to work as expected in all products but,... that's just me.
Regards,
Dj1018,
Thanks for contributing.
I'm happy for you, sincerely.
If someone with earlier firmware on a Mogul could share,
we might have some idea of whether there is a problem, HTC knows of it, and understands and/or can correct it.

my HTC thunderbolt just updated to ver 2.3.4.
I used to use an app Auto answer by everySoft.
In my car the hands free would automatically answer incoming calls
in 6 seconds. After the update it doesn't work.
I tried several similar apps and the same error message ver 2.3.4 killed them.
I drive with hand controls, so i really need auto answer.
Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.
I did some research and found.
The MODIFY_PHONE_STATE permission was marked as "for system use only" in Android 2.3.
While this was never intended for developers and publicly endorsed by Google, there are hundreds of apps in the marketplace using it. Unfortunately, a seemingly innocent checking by the Android folks has now crippled many popular apps for Android 2.3+.
If i root the phone, can this be changed??
Hi all,
I'm running original WM06 ITA on my x7500 and I'm experiencing this problem:
when I receive a call I can't answer with my BT headset because X7500 BT is turned off even if it was on, so that I have to activate it again. So the problem is that X7500 BT turns off by itself very often in a day. How can I solve this problem? Any fix available?
THX so much!

i have the same problem. this thing happens 2-5 times a day to me. the wicked thing is that somtimes it works perfect 1 or 2 days and when you think no everything is fine 'pop' its there again. fact is that bluetooth simply disappears, the indicator on athena is still blinking blue and the commanager tells bt is on, but my bt-headset (and other devices) signals that the bt connection is gone, also other devices cant find the athena any longer. i have to disable/enable bt in the commanager to get the functionality of bt back. i was thinking about returning the device for repair, but fearing the discussion of not using the original rom (the one with the superugly optical improvements of the provider ). and because maby it's a rom problem. my config is:
htc rom 2.21.407.1 (07/18/07) with extrom:2.21.407.101.
3 bt-headsets 1. sony hbh-ds220, 2. moto s705 and moto ht-820. all 3 are working fine with my universal but having these problem with the athena.

Hi...so we have the same problem...
I have the original HTC ROM just restored on my device and I have the problem. I read about it somewhere, other people with same problem but I can't remember where...
yes we are not alone i found serval posts on the net for htc and other brands like these:
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/...thread.id=27495&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=867111
but no solutions. the only meaningful thing was for wm5, there is a fix of the bluetooth stack by microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;913683&x=13&y=14) but i did not found one for wm6.

Hi guys.
I'm sorry to say that I had, a long while ago, the same problem with my Universal, and after a whole lot of tweaking, tinkering, and kinky massaging, all that was left to do was to have the device replaced. It definitly was a hardware problem, alas... :-(
I've had mine almost 4 months, stock 7501 ROM, and no problem like that ever. I leave BT turned on all the time. Sounds like a hardware problem.
been there done that fixed that
hi all,
yes, until I found the coolest und most functional BT headset, the cheapy prior ones caused same faults, even to the point of a hard reset ... why, well
no help to be found, just the notion of thinking and knowing, that the cheapy hardware out there was casuing it, not the htc.
example, some devices go into a kind of sleep mode and disconnect if not used, then while the htc still thinks its connected, it gets no reply from your other BT device. Take many SW packages or HW devices on your PC even, unplug the network and u´ll see, even they have unforseen problems ...
have fun, try HW makers like HAMA or Samsung, they rarely disappoint.

Aaaahhhh, I'm not alone.
Same problem here, but ONLY afair with WM6 (I'm using WM6, T-Mobile Germany). I can't remember, that I had this problem with the original T-MOB WM5 ROM.

Andreas

hi
i dont know if you read the post's above, but if you do you will see that the pda is turning off the bt, so it dont matter if you use one of the 'fantastic products' of hama (yes i also read your other 2 'advertising' posts of your overall 3 for them ). or any cheap crap stuff from sony or motorola like i do.
anyhow to came back to the real problem, i called my provider today and after explaining the problem, they suprise me with a complete hasselfree swap of the device to a new one in the beginning of the next week. when i get the new device i will test it first with the rom that installed, and then switch to the htc rom again to see if the problem returns again, i post the results here.
bye mad
Yeah, I think they're probably aware there's something wrong with some bluetooth chips, both on the Athena and Universal....
hi,
with wm6,
i have tested a BT 1.1 headset (Conceptronics) and works fine, without problems.
also, i have tested 2 BT 1.2 headsets (LG Style-i and Supertooth Nano). In the 2 cases, i have your related problems.
in my opinion, wm6 has a problem with the headsets that implements the 1.2 protocol.
all the headsets works fine with wm5.
regards
I have same problem with HTC Advantage running WM6 with LG Style-i headset ...
With my LG Style-i it keeps disconecting but with my SE BT headset it works fine (PK 3.0 Dual ROM) so in my case the BT on the phone doesnot turmn itself off, just has problems connecting.
Someone sugested a diff radio ROM might fix it - if so, does anyone know which radio does not implement the 1.2 protocol?
I'm using 1.47.51.00
hi there
i'm using my replacement athena for nearly one week now, and had not a single 'shutdown' of bt, not with the se ds220 nor with the moto 705 headset. i use the official german tmobile wm6 roms and not the htc version i used on the replaced athena. so it is not totaly clear if the change of the device or of the rom is making the difference, all other software packages are installed again. it also seems that the system is more stable overall in my every day usage, but that might be only my personal feeling.
mad
*EDIT* one more thing i noticed now is that when a call came in the sound is now played in the bt headset. before the sound came out of the speakers of the athena, and the bt headset only play its standard ringtone. seems that now everything is the way it should be .

hi spiderman ,
i don't have teste (i have wm5) but the description seems don't have relation with bt stack procedures.

Hardware or software
It's 4 months since last post and wondering if someone found a solution?
Is it possible and if so, can any of the chef's here cook a ROM which includes the Microsoft bluetooth stack over the Widcomm one??
Cheers
+1
I know each has it's merits and problems, but I'm having more problems with the WIDCOMM stack than I did with the MS one on the HD, so I'd like to see this in a cooked ROM as well...
Agree. A good idea.
+1
I really hope this can be done... chefs, please help us out!
It cant be done easily. The bluetooth chips in these phones (TP2, HD2, etc) dont work with the microsoft BT stack because the drivers supplied by HTC, don't work with it. They're designed to only interface with the widcomm stack and software :/ God knows I hate the widcomm stack on my TP2 as well, especially the crappy quality of the A2DP protocol, but unless some very bright mind comes along that can hack/rewrite a driver to work with the MS stack.. we're out of luck :/

Thanks for the explaination NRG. You managed to get MSVC to play nice with your Energy ROM for the TP2... was that because of a updated or perhaps an older Widcomm stack?... MSVC not playing nice with my BT headset HD2 is killing me. I use it all the time when driving... Your TP2 ROM and perhaps another were the only ones that worked at all with MSVC
I emailed HTC to voice my "opinion" of the Widcomm stack... not that I expect anything to change
Thats very dissapointing to hear!
It´s very important for me to dial contacts using my bluetooth headset SE HBH-PK740 !
Hi there,
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and it can access the addressbook/last calls without any problem on HD2. Is there any chance you might have missed the permission screen before first access attempt?
Also compared to Cruise, Diamond and HD (all bt tweaks applied) HD2 seems to have the best quality stereo output out of the box with these headphones. The bass is great and there is no background noise at all.
I friend of mine uses TP2 with Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220 and the stereo audio quality is also superior to MS stack both on WM and Vista/Win7.
I think it would make sense to open an thread to highlight incompatible BT hardware so that at least users planning to buy new ones will get the right headphones.

PLEASE explain us how you access adressbook?Voicedial?
I have SonyEricsson HBH-PV740 and Motorola HT820 and no way to dial adressbook.
I can dial last number by touching headset button twice but there´s no way to dial any person from adressbook without holding HD2 in my hands.
Hi there,
I have paired the device as usual. Then two profiles were selected by default. (stereo audio and handsfree).
1 Connect to your bluetooth device. You will see the services (image 1)
2 Select your device and then press properties button on the bottom left. (image 2)
3 Check the box where it says "Connections authorised"
If you dont perform step 3, next time the headset tries to access addressbook, you will see a promt on your phone and you will need to allow it. If you miss this screen, the functionality will not work.
When you press addresbook button or call history button on your headest, you will see that a new service is added to the list of services (image 4) named Phone Book Access. This will only show when you are accessing the addressbook or call history.
I can see both the names and numbers on the screen of the BT headset.
Also, in ms stack I would only see a number for the incoming calls on my headphones. Now I can see the name as well. So this was another improvement of the new BT stack.
Regading voice dialling, since I have a small screen on my headphones(980), did not need it. I think MS voice command would do the job well. The only issue I remember from previous WM devices was you needed to get the right DLL associated so that you could trigger it with the dial button on the headphones.
These theads might be a good starting point regarding MS voice Command

Hi there,
is there anyone know why the bluetooth was downgrade from 2.1 in WM6.1 to 1.9.3 in WM6.5 in T-Mobile TP2? Any way to upgrade it back to 2.1?
I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 headset that requires Bluetooth2.0+ in order to use the volume control on TP2. There is no volume control on the headset.
Thanks.
I'm using Bluetooth serial communication. With the new HD2, HTC shipped their own BT stack. Every time I open the serial port, a popup appears to choose the desiered remote serial port. I never got this on my old wm phones. The port is already mapped in the HTC BT software. Why is it asking every time I open the port? Has anybody noticed this too. And is there any workaround for automate this, like it was in the good old MS BT stack?
Please have a look at the attached screenshot.
anybody has an idea?
Hi,
I got the same problem, everytime I start iGO8 witch wants to connect my TMC receiver the popup appears. very annoying. Did you ever solve the problem?
TIA
Cheers

Same problem here. I sent a request to the HTC support today. Damn WIDCOMM Bluetooth-Stack.
No, I didn't found a solution.
I don't think thats a Widcom stack.
I got a reply from the HTC Support today. They told me that this behavior is windows mobile specific.
I thought a bit about the problem. If we knew where the routine is which displays the window, we would be able to modify it to always use comN and close the window. Does anyone have a clue where we could find it?

I think that HTC isn't telling us the truth. I own serveral WM devices. They all come with the MS bluetooth stack and none of them had this popup screen. I heared that HTC build their own BT stack.

Hmmm that is nice... i try to contact by telephone people from HTC CZ Support today, to find solution with them, expect that they will help. in about information in BTstack is not described who is manufacturer.
The HD2 has the Widcomm (later called Broadcom) stack.
I had a small problem with my foldable bluetooth keyboard, but that has to do with the driver of the BT keyboard.
Yesterday I paired a car kit (some chinese mp3/without any problem. Not tried to pair other devices yet.
i think that this is problem of some dynamic library that BT is using. btw. what is version of your bt? i got Ver. 1.9.3 bulid 500 HCI ver 4.168 and LMP ver. 4.16919. So i asked HTC second time for help with this. will see
I have got the same BT Version.
Did HTC respond to your question?
If this all doesn't help us, i will write a program which connects tmc and starts navigation aftwards. I am trying to get information on this bluetooth programming stuff.
hmmm not yet will see tomorrow
Same version here.
so HTC replayed! nice now we know that they know, hope that this is start how to solve this problem. unfortunately how i know these companies, it will be not early :-(
Dear Ondrej, Thank you for contacting us. In regards to the pop up message on HTC HD2: It is not possible to remove this pop-up (We don't support editing the registry it will breach your warranty). I will escalate the issue to the HTC Head office. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required. Thank you for contacting HTC. Best regards, Bo K
