Windows Mobile 6 Changing Splash Screen - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

It seems that WM6 is not letting me change / delete welcomehead.96.png.
I was doing this through total commander. I even tried safe mode then TC
Is there any other way to overwrite this file.
I am running a Mogul with the latest ROM update.
Thanks

getting rid of the operator logo in th phone pad

Hello, I have set my T-Mobile Phone Pad back to the default skin of Windows Mobile 5 but unfortunately it still shows the T-Mobile logo in the upper left corner. How can I get rid of that too ?
Not sure if this works for the Universal but give it a try!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...postorder=asc&highlight=operator+logo&start=0
it seems that all I have to do is rename the carrierlogo.gif Unfortunately total commander does not allow me to. What do I need to do to rename it ?
Ok, I also try to replace the Logo but it does not work. How can I overwrite/change files, which are stored in ROM?
any clues?
you should be able to overwrite it I would think, many others have reported the ability to overwrite the file in rom, it just comes back on hard reset.
try using resco explorer and viewing files in rom.
you may also have to perhaps consider disabling the phone application (flight mode) to disable the launching of the phone application on startup.

Accessing the registry etc.

I used to be able to access registry and other stuff at location \\\ on my Wizard using Total Commander. I tried this on my P3600 and it doesn't do anything. The location doesn't change to reveal registry.
Any ideas?
I don't have any ideas, but it works on my Trinity. Maybe you should reinstall the latest version.
You were right. Apparently total commander was corrupted somehow. I reinstalled the same version and hey presto, working again.
Thanks.

how do you use your Extended Rom?

I'm using mine for PIE Cache...that way it is still on the device and trims a milisecond off my surfing plus I can let it get pretty big without worrying.
What do you use yours for?
I've been filling up my newly unlocked extended rom with all of my applications.
I am running WM Black 2.0, and there were several files in the extended rom which were run on the first bootup. Is it safe to delete these files now as long as I dont plan on doing any hard resets?
Thanks,
-Kai

Black 2.0 doesn't do anything to your EXT ROM so if you do a hard reset the OS ROM won't trigger the EXT Rom autorun.exe
You'll need to run auto.exe or the separate cab files in your ext rom yourself.
I just deleted my files from my ext rom. I keep a back up on my laptop but I wasn't using files...I only needed the shoestring cab and I used a cab to setup my carrier settings. The other stuff was crap so I dumped it.

Removing carrier startup screen

How can I remove the Alltel startup screen or replace it with a custom one?
2 ways to do it, there may be more, but you can flash No2Chems Rom from PPC Kitchen which allows you to use custom screens. or you can change welcome.96.png with total commander. If you Flash 5055-5067 you will need 3.35 radio, which I see you dont have unless you've upgraded since you made your sig. You can get the new alltel rom straight off of the HTC site. or you can flash the newer Spring Rom with the 3.39 radio, you will also need Olipro 2.x
Unlock with Olipro Flash the Radio then the ROM. in that order.

or an easier way if you want to keep the rom that you have ..you can go to this posting and use the application on the top that says to remove test screen...i used the alltel rom for the radio and then flashed a custom rom over it...it left me with the alltel start screen but after flashing it with this(you will lose your contacts and stuff so back up whatever you want to keep) i now get the black htc screen then the windows mobile screen which as Lime said you can use another image but you name it welcomehead.96.png with total commander on your titan http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=18836

If you are just interested in disabling the startup animation, it can also be done with a registry edit.
Just use a registry editor of your choice and navigate to:
hklm_Software_HTC_startupanimation
change the value of the Enabled key from 1 to 0.
that gets the job done for me on my work phone without having to hack it up.
Thanks!!!!!!

Startup entries

After upgrading to the new official 6.1 ROM, I have noticed that in my startup there is a program called WLMupdate.ink, what does this program do? Would it be ok if i turned it off startup? Also do poutlook.ink and pocketnotify.ink need to start with the phone? I am trying to save as much RAM as possible.
