Rom has got nothing to do with Activesync not detecting your phone,it's most probably the problem of Activesync application or your USB cable not establishing connectivity.Check the usb connectivity for problems. To verify the connectivity, check if it gets charged via usb connection.
secondly, get your phone into bootloaders and connect it to your Pc via usb cable, see if usb appears at the bottom of the bootloader mode (multicolor screen),if it then it's connecting.
You don't need Activesync for flashing a Rom to your phone,it's done via usb cable, and while flashing activesync is automatically turned off by the Ruu.So if you are able to establish connectivity via usb cable in bootloaders (multicolor screen) you can flash to any Rom.
Cheers

If it is realy a brick without any chance of life I need a part of it: the keypad.
Thats really rude.
not a complete brick yet
not a complete brick yet is in loader mode red, blue ,green screen
All the cingular roms are here ftp://[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/
user name xda password xda
which rom do you have?
It looks like you are in bootloader (multicolored) mode so that is good
connect via usb - you dont need to activesync to update rom. You should get a usb sign bottom left of screen and then start update.
Upgrading without activesysnc
After a interruptus ROM upgrade my s200 d'ont start . after the HTC i have a white screen but not more.
The activesync don't connect and i can't put the ROM another time.
I obtain the multicoloured screen with usb in the left botton.
Please, could anybody help me to update the rom in this situation , mayby without activesync ??
Regards.
You can flash a rom from the 3-colored bootloader mode (hold voice button when turning device on). When it says usb you can just flash without activesync.
Yes thank's i found a ROM that don't need activesync , after that i had changed that rom by my rom and at the moment my s200 y ok.
Thank's.
My friend's jamin when he tried upgrading with smart1 wm6
after the flashing process finished it gives the 3 colors of boot loader
the screen flickers continously with the 3 colors
no way to hard reset the device
and activesync doesn't feel it
I searched all the forum for a problem like this but I didn't find any
any suggestion please, or any help?
Flash NVID Rom and try Smart again. Read WM6 upgrade Manuel and readme for the ROM.

Please how can i flash with the activesync doesn't notice my device and where's NVID Rom
Ok. I'll search for it but please help how can I flash it to the device which doesn't recognized or felt by PC
If your device is in bootloader mode, activesync cannot recognize it but this is normal. Jamin is recognize only as a usb device and you can downgrade it to NVID rom easly.
Then you could upgrade your favorite rom, I suggest PDAVIET 4.0.0.1
Bye for now

I think I didn't discuss the problem well
The Problem is when I start to flashing a rom a message tells that check if the usb is connected and if the device is connected .
This is happen with the device is connected to the cable and the tricolor screen is flicking . and the device doesn't open doesn't flashing.
must use NVID rom. maybe qtek nvid one from here? http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_ROMs

If the problem still there, Try to release the battery for 1-3 hours and put it again to the device, go to the boot loader and pray. Hopefully it could work. Actually, this way worked on my Himalaya and Prophet.
Just run the "Step 1" component of the PDAViet ROM (http://rapidshare.com/files/32728615/Prophet_PDAViet_Step1.zip), which is just a plain AKU 2.20 NVID. This will find your device even if its in bootloader mode (it doesnt depend on activesync). Just flash it with that sucker and you should have a working phone on WM5, then you can safely upgrade it to WM6 (or leave it if you like).

Error 260... If i remember correctly that's "cant find device" or something.
Few things to check:
Is the PC you are upgrading on running windows vista?
If so, use a different PC running windows XP.
Have you tried a different USB cable?
If not, do so, this tends to be the cause of problems like this.
Have you checked device manager?
Go to control panel, Administrative tools, computer management, device manager and see if you can find your device. If it has a yellow ! icon on it or is listed as "Unknown device" or anything like that then you may need to reinstall the drivers (int hsi case the easiest way to do that is to reinstall activesync). If everyhting is working properly it should show up as "HTC USB Sync", "PocketPC USB Sync" or something like that under the heading "Mobile Devices".
Have you just plain tried another computer, regardless of the OS?
I found that I could never get my phone to flash on my laptop, but it worked without a problem on my desktop. This is not to say laptop's cant do it, it simply means some computers just have problems like (in my case i believe) no USB 2.0, or too low-powered USB ports.

Cannot connect
Use the original cable supplied by HTC. There seems to be an issue with other cables.

Are your really using ActiveSync or Mobile Device Center?
In bootloader mode when connected via USB, can you read "USB" on the Bottom of the Display?
to both questions I can say yes. but nothing happens. it seem pc doesn´t recognize device.

Opens activesync at the PDA and the go to connections settings. (menu->connections).
See if USB connection is selected there.
Cheers
thank you. I tried what you suggest but no change :-(
is the error you got when flashing the original HTC ROM?
if not download it from the official HTC site and then flash it using SD card flash (for more info about see the wiki)
finally fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!
I find original rom (t-mobile) and followed instructions from link provided by y_bother. big thanks !!!
Few days ago my Wizard died all of a sudden. When turned on it only gets to the point when it shows "HTC smart mobility" and stays there. So not even to the screen with IPL, SPL. I tried soft/hard resetting, playing with battery but it was all no go, same.
I can get to the red-green-blue bootloader screen however, shows IPL 3.08, SPL 3.08. If i connect via USB cable to computer, bootloader screen shows "USB" on bottom. The ROM on the device was TNT's (not sure which version), Windows Mobile 6.1. It worked for ages without any problems with this ROM before this.
ActiveSync does not recognise Wizard at all, I cannot establish connection and therefore downgrade/upgrade the ROM becouse upgrade programs (for exmaple with ROM got originally with the device) say they cannot contact the device.
What are my options, please help.
hy
in my opinion , it is normal for active sync to not recognize your phone , because it's not turn on properly ,i mean it only recognize the phone when you enter windows mobile.
if i were you i would try to flash any rom i like and see if it works. i hope this helps
But ROM upgrade/downgrade program requires ActiveSync connection to run and I can't establish it...How to solve the situation, please advise?
when you are in bootloader screen and your phone is connected to the pc by usb cable just start the downgrade/upgrade program and it should work.
i did that. rom update utility complains that it cannot connect with mobile...
that was tried with:
1. official t-mobile ROM that was on the device when I got it
2. CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE ROM
my IPL and SPL versions now are 3.08
sorry , i can't think of anything that might help you.
same problem
phones a brick.
I can get to the bootloader , i can even perform a succesful hard reset.
But it doesnt get recognized by the computer in bootloader mode. is there any way to flash the rom if the computer doesnt recognize the device?
regards
Try this look for nbd v8.1 or v8.3 .
hold the camera button and do a soft reset but keep holding the camera button until the 3 color screen comes up it should sync your phone then run the nbd rom or original cingular ship rom like this one ** RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1 ** i prefer original then other but that's me. Hope this help you.
Hi, i am proud to say i have a hd2 in my "pocket" but i have a little problem.
I successfully flasht my rom to Artemis v18.0. but then i encountered THE problem, my active sync wont work, so i thought i just flash it to energie rom or something like that. but if i cant connect to my phone then its gonna be difficult to flash.
so,.. i heard something about flashing from your sd card ?. i have a 8 gb microSD.
is that even possible or do i just need to brick my phone ?
Thanks in advance.
you dont need to be connected to active sync mate put the phone in bootloader turn off usb connections in active sync and connect the phone to the pc should change from serial to usb if it does you can flash,
just a quickie though did you uncheck the in youre phone in usb to pc the active sync enable faster sync

Uhm no i did not, why? is that just a useless option?
and im now in the bootloader, and it does indeed says serial in the bottom, but how does the phone knows what rom it needs ? do i need to copy the rom to the sd card or something ?
ok the reboot youre phone connect it to active sync and untick the box before you flash mate it could be your problem, if not come back and ill help ya
Hmm i unchecked the faster data sync, and rebooted and then tried to connect, but both the phone & wmdc seems to do nothing. weird problem.
and it gets wors, cuz i dont have an card reader on my pc. so i also cant copy the rom to the SD card.
1.ok so you download the ROM you want,
2.then restart you're phone in bootloader mode (turn phone on while holding vol down) phone should say serial
3.in active sync on the pc go to connections and disable usb connections
4.plug your phone into the usb serial should change to usb if it does youre set to go
5.if all above ok you would open the RUU that came with the ROM you downloaded and follow the instructions from there to flash again,
I'm guessing you have a hspl or one of the others as you have laready flashed you're device
okay its flashing now.. , i followed the steps you provided and it worked. and i have hspl 2.08 , anyways thanks for your time & help, much appreciated m8.
Greetz KapiteinKoek007
No probs hope active sync gets sorted

did you hard reset after flashing?
if I was on your case and HR didn't help, i would perform a task24 cleaning and then flashing (always doing a HR after the flashing)
hope that helped.
