You'll need WM5torage so that Linux detects your MDA.

Anyone know if its possible to utilise the onboard WIFI adaptor in ppc (i.e blueangel, Universal etc) so that if connected to a desktop or laptop pc using usb cable, that standard pc could access WIFI via the PPC's WIFI capability?
In other words piggyback the PPCs WIFI connection to give a desktop PC without WIFI, WIFI access via the PPC?
It strikes me this would be kinda cool! 8)
I've been trying to do the exact same thing. Want to connect a laptop (no wireless) with a PPC to adhoc network. Internet works fine on the PPC, but wont connect on the laptop. Any help.
Does anyone know how to connect my laptop to internet by Bluetooth at MDA Compact ? I had Bluesoleil drivers at laptop, and MDA.
"Wireless Modem" doesn't works at Bluesoleil drivers.
I'm using MDA Compact 2 (WM5), which I think ought to be the same. You don't need fancy stuff to have it connected. I did it before, and I have some instructions somewhere in this forum.
Anyway, when sync-ing your device (whatever method), try accessing internet on your device. If that is ok, you just need to use your bluetooth to sync your device to have internet connetion. Its an easy job.
It doesn't work. When I sync, my MDA try to access to Internet via laptop.
I need connect my laptop via MDA (GPRS), not MDA via laptop.
If U do a search on this forum, U should be able to find ActiveSync over BT discussion (for me, I use the stock BT driver.) After activesync, U got internet aceess thru activesync.
Hi forum,
i have imate jam (htc magician) with me and i am installed ubuntu 6.06 on my computer. i need to access internet through gprs from my computer. i have usb cable and bluetooth dongle with me, driver for bluetooth dongle is installed and works fine. please advice me on connecting my phone to linux
There's a howto on ubuntuforums, use it to create an rfcomm device, so you can use the Magician like a "normal" modem.

You don't have to setup anything on the Magician (just pair it with your computer).
can anyone explain how can i connect the mobile through internet via usb cable? on pc I have connection. i need on mobile. waiting for a reply. thanks
After you installed ActiveSync it should work automatically when ever you connect the WIZ via USB cable to the computer - at least it works on mine! No further steps necessary, except turning off GPRS and WLAN.
for my phone it doesnt work like that i think i have to make some settings or something..
i resolved the problem. i needed to add
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
Anyone has idea how to do activesync with WM6 and windows 98?
Or anyone has other alternative to solve the problem?
My office has windows 98 and i m using cingular 8525 with WM6.
I have tried to use bluetooth dongle, still not yet found the solution even though i have managed to connect the network access but failed to run internet from my pda by using the bluetooth.
Read this:
http://www.modaco.com/content-page/238545/wm5torage/page/480/#entry773770
It is not possible to use Active Sync 4.x with Win98, but using wm5torage (and an usb driver proper, detailed in the page of Modaco) you can connect your pocket as an USB storage.
I hope you find this useful
