Mogul Camera - Auto rotate? - Mogul, XV6800 General

When I take pictures in landscape mode they come outsides, which is semi-expected. Is there anyway to "autorotate" the pictures so landscape is the default?

Well then it just isn't me, someone out there must have and idea why this happens?

i believe you can go to the registry and change the dword value from 1 to 0 at :
HLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\EnableEncodePortrait

That seems to have done the trick.
They should have a switch in the camera application to change that. It sucks to have to go into the registry to change the layout of the picture.

I also found that there is an app that 6800 Hacks that will do this without editing the registry. It does the same thing as editing the reg would but without the worry

You could also use mortscript and make a script to swap it back it forth with a window box telling you what mode it is in.. and tie it to a hard button. I personally don't have any use of the picture being in portrait.

IE hardkey to run Opera

I've tried searching for it, as I managed to do it before, but I can't find how to do it.
Any ideas?
no, but maybe somebody knows how to do???
I'd be interested in knowing this too!
In fact - has anyone produced a keyboard map for the Universal at all??
We know that 112 and 113 are the "softkeys" - anyone know any others?
it's easy... just delete the keybd\OEM registry key somewhere in the HKLM after which you can remap the key to any app.
I usually search www.yahoo.com in registry and delete the found key.
my exec is dead at the moment so can't tell you the exact registry key...
maybe someone else can
edit: maybe I misunderstood the question.

Can you be a touch more specific?
The wiki contains info on how to change the "homepage" in the registry - is that the key you mean??
I think so.
It's been a while so I'm not 100% sure.
why don't you try deleting it after backing it up?
edit: okay I was wrong... this has been discussed here:

I just looked at that key:
it's called PieHomePage = "www.website.com" (mine's gmail). - It's a Reg_SZ value - I do'nt think deleting it will affect the programe the keyboard activites - it just affects the shortcut (in effect).
Opera gives you the option of setting itself as "Default Browser" - would this be a workaround for this issue?? Anyone set Opera as the default?? Does it affect the keyboard shortcut?
nope, setting opera to be the default has no effect on the hardware key (at least for me) it still jumps to explorer.
you can point that shortcut to a program instead of to a URL.
\storage card\program files\opera\opera.exe
or similar

oooo - interesting.
Hmm - it works, but opens File Explorer too - I guess it's looking for a file to activate first.
Cheers.
in that case point it to the .lnk file
\Windows\Start Menu\Opera.lnk
That may help.
Tried the change to Opera.lnk and File Explorer still launches.

BUt now I wanted to try and put the inidcator for the caps lock and dot.....
I found the regedit, but what do I do...??? I'm lost. I'm using Mobile Registry Editor....
Thanks.
smokeyb111: what exactly do you need it to "do"?
If you've made the registry hack, just list it here for our pleasure.
What problem are you encountering exactly?
V
Well I'm just confused......
Here is what I'm told to do to get the notification symbol when I use the CAPS lock and the dot.
You need to add the following registry data:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"EnableIndicator"=dword:0x00000001
What do I do EXACTLY?
I'm using a program called Mobile Registry Editor. Can I get a step by step?
Or can someone enlighten me with a website or somethin......

im not sure how it works with Mobile Registry Editor,
but if You install Resco Explorer 2005
( _ttp://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp ) together with registry plug-in it will be pice-o-cake. Go to "Registry"-node in tree view, follow the path down the tree HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd , tap-n-hold on "Keyb" -> New -> Dword -> type in desired value 0x00000001
sometimes you have to soft-reset your device for changes to take effect.
PS: Resco explorer has 60day full functiona trial period.

Anyone Know How To Add Progs To The "HTCHOMEPLUG"

Anyone know how? Thanks BTW, this is the today plugin that shows a few shortcuts (comm manager, battery, etc...) that htc provides on the newest rom that came on my trinity.
*bump*
Edit: Oh wait, I just realized what HTC Homeplug is... I withdraw my bump!

Yes this is possible
It is not pretty hard, but you need to change te register.
Open the register with a register editor (I use Resco register editor).
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHomeplug\.
You will find two maps (2, 3).
If you want to create a new shortcut add a new key (name it "4").
In the key you need to add:
a string LaunchApPath -> point this string to the program
a string ResPath -> point this to the program or dll that contains the icon
a dword iconindex -> some executable files and dll's contain serveral icons. The normal value is 0, but it depends on the exe/dll file.
Example for adding Internet Explorer button.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHomeplug\4]
"iconindex"=dword:00000000
"ResPath"="\\windows\\iexplore.exe"
"LaunchApPath"="\\windows\\iexplore.exe"
Good luck
Can anyone export and post the reg tree for the plugin along with the DLL its uses?
I would like to install this on my other devices.

Here are the files.
I don't know if the plugin uses more dll files.
Give it a try.
I add RegSvrCe.exe to register the dll if needed.
Good luck.

I will give this a go later and post back how I get on.
Can you also provide HTCICON.DLL from the windows dir?

I Agree, the only advantage is that you can use the plug-in with your scrollwheel. That is not possible with traylaunch.

What the guy means is that the scroll wheel moves between items in the HTC plug-in so it's easier to use with one hand.
EDIT: Ops I was wrong. Even with the HTC plug-in you need the joypad to move from one icon to another....

You're right, this wasn't possible on WM2003 .
In that case the HTCHomePlug is even more useless
The HTC plugin is easier to use with a finger... Traylaunch has to be activated with a stylus.

Thanks guys. I figured this out the other night and forgot I started this thread. Anyway, what I was trying to do is figure out how to add the "memory" shortcut to get straight to the task manager from that plugin and I finally figured it out. Thanks again
Care to share your method... if it's different from what's already posted.
It's the same...exactly. The only quirk was adding the memory app. I had to have the cpl shortcut....then it was the same.

I can do better than that. I can point you to the cab I made of the relevant changes so all you need to do is install this one file!
Great job, but do tell if the video call button would come back or not if I uninstall the Cab file.
If not how can we bring it back if and when I want to
This freeware program is a great alternative. Includes a reset to default command.

i got a kinda similiar problem..except i wanna change my left soft key which now says TODAY SCREEN to watever da the default was..i think it was PHONE on my tf3d home screen..the reason it says TODAY SCREEN was after i uninstalled the phone alarm cab i was left wit dat..now i cant figure out how to change it back..i tried da fantasticbytes softkey manager didnt change anything..so if anyone can help or point me to right link link..really appreciate it..thanx
Can someone give me the registry path, so I can choose witch programma I like to map?
I have the new 2.03 ROM installed but want to change the dailer softkeys.
Thanks
You would have to find out a way to edit the DLL from post #4.
Unlike the softkeys from the homescreen the softkey on the dialer work totally different.
I didn't realise we were talking about the dialer when I posted above!
You can change the Left Softkey to the default contacts application (iContact BE on my phone) by setting the following registry DWORD to 1:
HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE\LSKContact
Cab file attached (my first ever)
Also, you can drop this file in your Windows dir. Just overwrite the original with Total Commander or Resco.

It just sets that one registry value, changing the left soft key of the dialer to "Contacts".
This launches the default contacts application - normally pOutlook but it should be iContact if you have installed it.
I installed the new iContact 0.9 and now it is default contact manager
Thanks

[Solved] Registery key to disable tactile feeback hd2

I am looking for a registery key to disable the tactile feedback option as shown in settings -> personalize -> Vibration -> Vibrate when I tap buttons..........
I have found the registery key to disable the vibrate in the keyboard and added it into my oskitchen build. I have googled and searched XDA but cant quite find the registry key I am looking for.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why don't you find out this by ourself? Make a backup of the registry, untick/tick the checkbox and do backup again. Compare those two files and see what changed. It's the way how I do it myself.
In my opinion the easiest tool to accomplish this task is CeRegEditor. You'll find it here: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/index.php?id=1&lang=en

Ahahahha, not possible, my Lord.
Do a backup while you are on the panel screen. Don't click anything else, just the checkbox. After you click it and confirm by tapping "ok" don't do anything else and do a backup again. Also, you should turn on airplane mode before doing the first backup to ensure that the least keys have been modified at the time you where doing the backup.

Another helpful tool that identifies changes is Kheb. Great program and is very easy to use
Jepp, it also keeps track of file changes.
However, there is a big cons for me - works really slow.
You can select registry (or file) compare only with Kheb. It is the easiest free tool for what you want. It only takes a minute or two; it took you over 2 hours to get your first reply in the thread, lol. You can also use SK Tracker.

Depends on the device you're using... Works so long that I could design a PID controller in MATLAB faster then Kheb creating a snapshot.
So for comparing registry I prefer CeRegEditor. It's just easier to use, more convenient to look into the registry using a PC.
I use Kheb to compare files that changed, it's a great program, however it still doesn't monitor all files. I run into problems when trying to figure out database changes. Those files are probably in use and Kheb cannot hash them.
SK Tracker will follow databases; I use kheb more often, because of the 'create oem' option, which is really nice. It's a lot easier than having to cut and paste out all of the registry keys that you need.
