Thank you so much i was looking for this for a long time

Best way to listen to music?

I've got a newbie media-related question, and searches haven't yielded the specific answer that I'm looking for (though maybe I haven't searched the right device forum, yet):
What is the best way to use my new Sprint Touch as an MP3 player? To answer that question I guess I'm really asking the following questions:
What is the best plugin to get a handy player for easy play/pause and prev/next track selection (like the original HTC Touch media hub, or the tab on the 6-tab HTC Home)?
Is there a way to play music without the screen staying turned on? From what I can tell the Windows Media app keeps the screen on as long as it is playing music. I would like the screen to shut off and then spring back to life if tapped/power button pressed/whatever. Hopefully the answer to #1 will support this as well.
I don't want a new HTCHome.dll since I just got my Sprint one patched to point to a different weather server to get local weather.
I also have been reading about the 'Touch Settings' program and am interested in giving that a spin as well, though I can't tell if it will help me other than to make launching the player more handy.
Thanks in advance...
Bluetooth headphones.

sprint removed the original htc audio manager which is quite good and has a today plugin. you can get the original htc apps from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533
I've installed this audio manager and the plugin on my sprint touch and they work great.
For turning off the screen, I usually just let mine turn off on its own (since it actually will when using audio manager). If you want to force the screen off yourself, just grab a freeware app called ScreenToggle and map it to your camera button or today screen.

Um, yeah...that's what I have on order, but I don't see how that answers my questions (so please enlighten me if I'm missing something).

Yes, that is EXACTLY the info that I was looking for...I just installed both the audio manager and the home plugin and love them both. The home plugin doesn't take up too much screen space, so it will work great for me. The screen doesn't appear to be shutting off while using the plugin, either, so will try ScreenToggle if I can't find another setting/option to have it shut off automatically. THANK YOU retrobits!
You can also map a button from within WMP (such as the center button) to toggle the screen off/on. It is under one of the menu options for settings.

That's cool...works great if I want to use WMP instead of the plugin. Unfortunately, even though it appears that the home plugin is launching and using WMP rather than the audio manager, the button that I associate with the screen off/on toggle doesn't work from the homepage...I've got to switch to WMP for it to work. That may be good enough for me, though...thanks for the tip.

Bluetooth headphones have control buttons, so you dont need onscreen ones, and on my GSM Touch at least, as well as my Kaiser, I can switch of the screen with the power button without interrupting audio playback when using A2DP.

Surur...I just got my Bluetooth headphones today, and when listening to my music off of my Touch with them the music quits if I press the power button. Can you describe further how I can get this to work so that the music continues to play? And of course maybe this is a difference between the GSM Touch and the "Sprint" Touch/Vogue, but hopefully not.

Sorry, I dont know why it works, but it just does. Just tested it again with my Moto S9's, and it works perfectly. When I use the power button the screen goes off, but the music keeps playing. Worked in Audio Manager, WMP and TCMP.
Its probably a simple registry setting which some-one more knowledgeable can tease out.

is it the bluetooth remote buttons (AVRCP) that is the issue? I may just be a remapping of the buttons from your media player.

The remote buttons on my bluetooth headset work great for me...no problems there. The issue is that when I use my Sprint Touch (Vogue) as an mp3 player I want the screen to turn off without the music stopping when pressing the power button so as to conserve battery life.
For now I'm using the WMP feature to toggle the screen on and off as needed.
I have been using TCPMP 0.72RC1 on my Wizard for some time now and this has the option to set a button on your device (whichever one (except for the on/off button)) to toggle the srceen off and on.
be aware though, I use this option to safe battery life. The other buttons still work when the screen is off, so skipping songs etc is still possible without the screen being on.

Thanks for the tip, kato. I've also done the same with with WMP, though when I pause a song via my bluetooth headset the screen turns back on...otherwise it's working pretty well. I'll have to check out TCPMP sometime...

[App] [Cab] [2009-01-14] MP-NT: Use you stock Headset as remote!!

With the help of some other I wrote a little Programm to use the stock Headset of any X1 as a remote control for Mortplayer.
What does it?
Press the Microphone Button long (2-3 sec) and jump to the next track in Mortplayer
How is it Working?
Using mortscript i can command the player to do exactly that.
What is needed
The MP-NT.cab
MortPlayer (here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=112)
MortScript (here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=4)
Limitations?
Only works with MortPlayer (which is the best PPC-Player for me, btw!)
Only one action is possible for the keypress (but you can modify it to previous track, increase/decrease Volume eg...wich all three does not really make sense)
The first time may be a bit slow (delay=2s) but the second press is faster!
Thanks
Mort for the player and the script!!
AlejandroFefe for the cab!
Jackleung for discovering the posibility!
Hope it is useful to someone else! If you want to, i can explain how it works and how to modify it.
Oroginal Topic can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452799
cool !
I use MortPlayer. wery nice player !
Really big thanks!
I just made it work. It's so easy if you don't forget to install MortScript.
Never again I will have to grab my x1 out of the pocket just because I don't like the current song.
I have an idea: What about extending the script?
Press button... if MortPlayer is not running, start it... if it's running, skip to the next track.
It's pretty easy...but i never plug in my earpieces until mortplayer is not started...So there is not really use for me...
Great! I'll try it.
BTW, is it possible to double click that button for play/stop?
I dont think so, and as you need to press the button for 3sec i do not really see the usage oge that as a nice thing
This is some good stuff!!
I only lost my headphones
I had never tried Mort Player and i was amazed at the stuff that you can do.
Thank you so much for the app and the awesome u guys at xda-developers keep coming up with it.you guys are the real geniuses.
keep up the good work
Thanks a lot
where to get mortplayer? is it free?
and is it possible to make similar app for Coreplayer?
The Link to the Mortplayer DOwnloadlocation is in the first post...see also there for the link to mortscript.
I think it is (somehow) possible to do this for coreplayer, but not easy and I'm not sure it will work unfailing.
Hi,
I use Mortplayer 3.31 and have installed MP-NT.cab and MortScript-4.2-SP.cab under WinMob 6.1 (Xperia X1) but I can't see any effects
Is there something else to do?
regards
MP-NT is best installed as the last part of the combo...
Anyway, there is no UI so you wont find it elsewhere that in the 'remove programs' window. Just plug in your headset and play a song in mortplayer and then press the button for around 2-3 secs...thats all
Hope, that helps...
I'm gonna test it...It really rock if it works dude....
Nice release man!
It should. I've been using it ever since the thread started If you need help, just tell me!

Changing Default Action Headset Redialer.exe

Hi Guys,
In an effort to remap and not finding any software I wrote over my redial.exe program with a basic game and it worked. Double clicking the headset now opens that game. I'm not sure how this will affect other functions of the phone though, what else uses redialer.exe?
Secondly how could I make it so that whatever I put in the windows folder as this "redialer.exe" activates a specific action? In my case, I would like this to mute/unmute the call I am in.
Thirdly, any alternative suggestions to doing this, or to even editing the single click function on the headset? Thank you.
Nila
Nila, there are several apps out there that do something similar to this. Maybe you should look in to what they are doing and see if you can't modify it to your liking.
I went through this when my headset started randomly redialing people. I use audio manager headset tool and it will now play/pause on long press and ff on quick double press. Hope this helps!

Besides the various programs I found that seemed to only deal with audio playback, this is the most promising program I found that would let me edit which programs are opened with the headset button functions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476412
The main thing I'm having trouble locating is how to make a shortcut to the in-call mute function. Does that require a mortscript? Thanks.

It would probably require a simple mortscript, there is a list of commands for in-call/phone functions I saw floating around a while ago. I did a search but can't seem to find it. I'm pretty sure I saw it on xda though!

[HD2]Disable Headset Or Mute Sound Problem

Hello everyone,
I am working on a new thingy for my phone and later I will Publish it here.
I have 2 major difficulties and maybe you can help me out:
1.
When i make a LONG press at the Headset "Play/Pause" button I get to what I want and not to the SDdialer.exe, I've changed it. However this is really disturbing.. When I press a SHORT press it the WMP is coming up and this is what I dont want from the app to do, cause my application works with ascreen off and i cant see anything when i do things and when the WMP is working i need to open the device close the WMP and press again The LONG press.
can i find something in the registry which make the short press to disapper? or make it do nothing..
2.
Why the hell when I mute the HD2 in the registry, when the WMP is coming up the
ControlPanel\Notifications\ShellOverrids\Mode
is coming back to value = 0 instead to value = 2. And then the sound is coming back after the WMP is up?
why the hell ? and how can i get it work in one step..and not the way of checking if the WMP and then mute again
WOW writing all of this was hard
Thanks In Advance!! and really cool site i'm checking the site from time to time and I get really useful information here!!
please help
admins i'm sorry for this "jump"
I really need some hints about it
