Hey guys maybe it's interesting.

Sorry for posting in "Development and Hacking" . If mods know a better place to post let me know about it!
greetings
fake! look at all the apple icons, and the signal strength and clock switch places.
i thought that these are fake but what convinced me that they are not are the images on the following page
http://www.exedamobile.com/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=7
Where are the apple icons? I personally can't see any.
Apparently, the apple icons are the home and the camera.
It seems that the images aren't fake, the webmaster was used to work with Microsoft France and keep serious contact
Let's see the future...
Translated text using google translate
"
While the arrival of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the year 2009 was announced here and there, then confirmed by Steve Balmer himself at the PDC 2008, Smartphone France is very pleased to present exclusive World 2 first screenshots of what should be Windows Mobile 6.5.
If for the moment there is no real information on the new version of Windows Mobile, what is happening is that Microsoft has finally decided to redesign the interface of the aging systems to try to catch up with his lags behind its competitors.
At visual we can see that Windows Mobile 6.5 is very close to what should be Windows Mobile 7. Does it mean that Microsoft has decided to completely revise their copy as regards WM7 and we propose intermediate version which should be initially WM7? In all what whatever happens in a case closely monitor ... although it will take many months before seeing a new version of Windows Mobile on the market."
my opinion hmmm they look pretty fake but hey we might be wrong who knows
the "T" in youtube is lower case, so that could be another piece showing that its fake.
Very fake (although cool looking)
why is the windows sign in the start menu different in both pictures...i think their fake
Horrible..
Those screenshots look like a mixture of Tango and MacOSX icons.
And I fail to believe that the next complete makeover of Windows Mobile will be proudly presented by QVGA screenshots with low compression. Microsofts interfaces usually dont look well composed, but these look like trying so hard, sorry, I give it a no go as well.
YouTube is owned by Google, somewhat like the biggest rival of Microsoft nowadays. An application integrated in what I suspect to represent the main launcher screen? Sorry, no.
And if that screen can be customized, I'd be highly surprised that there's a YouTube application for an unreleased system, misspelled, available as an install and put on that screen by a developer (who else would have access to a build?). Is YouTube the MS Devs most timeconsuming side-hobby...?
Edit: oh yes, the Windows-flags...
This is pretty hilarious. There is one other thread about these screens where all people approve the new looks. You guys all are haters
I do like the looks much btw.
Cheers.

Windows Mobile 6.5 next month!

"Software giant Microsoft is apparently getting ready to drop its trousers and unveil its assets at the Mobile World Congress event at Barcelona next month. "
"Microsoft is also expected to unveil Windows Mobile 6.5 with the new UI at the Mobile World Congress. "
XPERIA will get the upgrade i am sure!
Hurrah - "new UI" hopefully more easy to use!
This post does not help anybody for some reasons:
1) You did not state the source of your informtion
2) Most people may already have known this
3) this is only speculation (anyway I am expecting the announcment soon too)
4) no one knows what to expect from WM6.5 except Skynet...
sorry, i hope to not offend you but thats what came up in my mind...
It will be interesting to see if Xperia actually gets the update to WM6.5, but I'm not so sure. One can only hope... In any case, surely the developers at XDA will cook something up
Here: http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=2485
Nothing has been said about a new XPERIA. SE haven't announced its new partner yet and previous reports state that the new XPERIA should be unveiled late 2009...
Comeradealexi - Thanks for letting us well me know as it means I've got something to google now on my lunch break.
here it is if you don't want to click
"Neowin, quoting unnamed sources close to Microsoft, is claiming Mobile World Congress (February 16-19th), will not only be bringing Windows Mobile 6.5, but also a slew of Microsoft services rumoured previously to the Windows Mobile platform.
“SkyBox” is a service for users to sync a phones information with the web. Microsoft will be offering automatic backup and restore services, access and management of phone data and provide easy communication and sharing with others. The service will also allow syncing of contacts, email/SMS, calendar items and pictures into the cloud. Neowin adds a new detail, not rumoured previously, that this service will be available not only on Windows Mobile, but also for other phone OS’s.
“SkyLine” will be aimed at small businesses. Offering similar functionality to SkyBox, businesses will be able to setup their phones with Microsoft’s Exchange hosting with their own domain names.
“SkyMarket” is Microsoft’s mobile marketplace, a competitor to Apple’s AppStore and RIM’s Blackberry application center.
Neowin also claims that their sources confirm the leaked screenshots from earlier this year are in fact real, despite being panned for having icons stolen from the Apple OSX desktop, and that they represent design concepts.
Looks like we do have quite a bit to look forward to in a months time after all."
so make of that what you will
could have sworn i posted this yesterday..
i think x1 will work slower after upgrade.

All joking aside, I am looking forward to any updates made to Windows Mobile Professional. Standard got a real nice interface boost with 6.1, and we didn't get squat in the "looks" department.

I've been running Windows 7 for about 2 weeks now, and I'm with you 100%. I'm not running it as my full time OS, but it is definitely running better than Vista did in beta/pre-SP1.
yeah - they've done it right with windows 7 - they'll have done it right with mobile 6.5/7
It seems somewhat likely that the X1 will get the update as we haven't heard a word from sony about any software updates whatsoever. What's the use of the software update utility if no updates are made? Maybe they haven't released anything because they have to wait until 6.5 is announced.

More likely, since they've parted ways with HTC, they've abandoned updating the Xperia X1, so not only will we not see Windows Mobile 6.5, we won't even get any firmware updates, like the retarded problem where turning off WIFI also turns of Bluetooth at the same time, or where Bluetooth keeps turning off by itself (workaround is Mortscript, but why do we need workarounds?!), etc. etc.
The HTC Touch HD has ALREADY had 2 or 3 updates, and it was released later than the Xperia X1. Where are the Xperia updates? NONE. NADA. ZIP.
I have an Xperia X1 but I'm starting to feel mighty bad here... I'm not feeling any love from HTC or SE and I doubt (and I hope I'm wrong) that we will see any updates, ever, for our machines.

WM 6.5 is a tip of an iceberg called Zune!

some time ago I saw a thread about discussions on how the Windows Mobile 6.5 and/or 7 would be like and I mentioned that it looked like Microsoft was trying to keep everything in the family as the menu looked exactly like the Zune's. None replied.
For those who are not aware, Zune is the Microsoft's media player which is available only in the US and Canada but you can pretty much buy it anywhere through eBay - that's how I got mine, a black 80GB one, which I love. zune's got wifi and the ability to access its marketplace through any wifi spot, big deal :-| the good thing about zune is that, if you want, it will store your plays and update automatically. quite good for social environments.
Xbox 360's dashboard is now Zune styled with a touch of 3D but the concept is the same, a menu, scrolling up and down and inside the item you go to the right to see more options. the menu itself is located at the left side of the screen.
and here it comes: Zune TV.
very slowly and purposedly making it look clumsy to observers, microsoft is building a massive entertainment network and to have the best of it, you will find yourself taking the whole family.
this article got me thinking and you'll get the reason i posted it here by reading it. some discussing about it?

This would be a welcomed advancement if 6.5 was to include zune
Don't forget the Windows Media Center menu
Since the very first version (2004 I think), you have a scrolling list, and in the selected item in the list, 2 or more options... just like the WM6.5 menu

i thought that too but im starting to believe otherwise. i think the HD is such a good piece of hardware that it will stay for a long time like the hermes. to be honest i am more interested in the developments of Android on HD than 6.5 itself. from what ive seen so far, 6.5 is the 6.1 with a new facelift which doesn't really make my mind.
days ago i was in the bus and there was this guy sitting next to me, he had an iphone and although i know the iphone very well as i used to sell it, this time it got me impressed how smooth and responsive it is. HD has a great hardware but even with all the tweaks we could possibly imagine to add it still just ok but not excellent and this thanks to Windows Mobile 6.1.
if you think about it, that's microsoft main problem: they can't innovate at all but they're great when it comes to improve someone else's idea. they developed windows mobile based on the concepts of those very old monochrome screen PDAs like Newton and Palm, to be used with a Stylus, and it wasn't even supposed to have phone capabilities but they added it later. they never realized that touchscreen would be the future and people would prefer to use their fingers rather than a little thing we keep losing... look what's happening now...

Still think it will disappear into the horizon. With new models coming out from other manufacturuers all the time and a reported new HTC device coming out to replace the HD with 8MP camera and win6.5, I think I will forget the HD easily enough. My only concern is that HTC need to make a better improvement with each new release. Too many phones released with no real great improvement between each model.

Quick question: Does the (chinese) Sciphone G2 run Android OS?

According to Wikipedia, the Schiphone Dream G2 phone runs android os. I looked around on google and looks like it doesn't and only imitates it.
If it does, can it be ported over?
No. No. This phone is a well-made imitation. I tried an actual set and wow, it had an awesome "android" look and feel. However, it most definately is not an android phone. How do I know? There isn't the marketplace app on this phone. Also it is stated on many sites that it doesnt not run on android, but rather it has "android look" simply, android UI, nothing more. And one more thing, you really trust wiki?
It says in wiki it is Windows mobile powered. it is?
No it does not... It runs on RTOS ( Real time operating system ) and has a android like interface ........... so in short its just a copy as in the china iphone
( Hiphone)
ok, thanks

Please tell me!!!

I sure hope this active desktop is disabled for the desktop version... I think we may soon have a battle of OS's soon. Especially if this is the final version the new UI it cluttered and I would expect more from Microsoft like a brand new concept for the whole system they've had over 23 years...... and it feels and look just like it did in windows v 3 but with better settings....

Honestly, it looks better than 3.1, they also did not remove any of the previous functions, they just moved them around. I just wish people would be more open minded about getting something new rather than just have something with a new visual style or paint job. I applaud Microsoft for trying to go with a unified UI throughout their platforms, certainly a great way to reinvent something that's been around since Windows 95.

that was very difficult to read... :/
a brand new concept for the whole system (UI)? what, like Metro?
the issue is backward compatibility, MS is a legend for keeping it, but it can also have its downside, meaning its not always possible to completely reinvent something.
But that's beside the point, Metro and Desktop Do work great together on a desktop PC and Metro is amazing on a tablet so, just takes an open mind and a it of getting used to.

Well said dazza9075, Windows 8 is a beautiful OS but the user interface you have to look at with open mind. After using it as my main OS on both my Dell E6410, My HP ZD7249Cl and my Home built Desktop I thought I would never move away from Windows 7 but it grows on you very quickly. Now when I do use windows 7 I find my self trying to do mouse gestures that windows 7 cant do.
*sitting in class taking notes or working* "Why wont the charms bar come up, I want to put my computer to sleep... Oh wait this is Windows 7"
