hey everyone, i bought the iphone bluetooth headset with my 8925. problem is this thing doesnt have any volume buttons on the ear piece itself. its all controlled from the iphone....the volume on my 8925 doest affect it. any apps out there can help?
my sympathies for buying something with the word iPhone in it. i hope you didnt pay anything more than 99c considering it hasnt even got volume buttons.
Im sure that will be on the iPhone 2
I'm now in the same situation as the OP. Bought the Apple bluetooth headset but my WM6 hima volume slider doesn't adjust the volume level on the headset when it's connected. Damn headset's so loud it's a little deafening and i desperately need a way to reduce it.
Apparently changing the volume has something to do with sending AT commands to the headset itself. I'm sure there are ways to code apps that can set the volume to preset levels, unfortunately i'm not very code-oriented.
Found a website that may help any of you programmers out there should you decide to undertake this task.
Link is: here
I (and the OP, i'm sure) would DEFINITELY appreciate an app that allows for configging volume levels of bluetooth headsets from wm5/6 devices.
Oh, and before anyone else follows st3v3's lead and posts about how iphone and apple are crap/evil-etc, please don't waste your time. I already know the iphone and the headset are overpriced, but i got the headset at a real good discount so i don't care. As for the iphone, i love my hima way too much to give it up for a few fancy GUI features.

I wrote this post and realized it was too long, here is the summary. If you think you can help, please read the more detailed version about my TyTN issues.
Many thanks guys, SINC.
--------------------------------------------
Summary:
- Having trouble hearing people with TyTN set on loudest setting.
- Don’t like bluetooth headsets (wear glasses). Speakerphone is not an option due to place of work.
- Is there a program, rom upgrade, tweak or anything anyone can think of to boost the ear piece on the handset?
- Appealing to your compassion and advice. Being financially strapped to begin with, I saved for a long while to make this purchase and I feel like I’ve just wasted my money.
Any Ideas or suggestions?
--------------------------------------------
Detailed Post:
Hi there. After much deliberation and research I laid my poor P910i to sleep and purchased a TyTN, my first PPC. It was a big choice between the much cheaper and faster Eten M600+, but from reading the Eten forums, the M600+ unit had MAJOR problems as a phone, particularly low caller volume (Difficult to hear caller).
So I bought a TyNT due to the positive reviews and its stability. My problem is this...
I don't have a return policy because I bought it unlocked and through a website as there were no local retailers in Toronto. Upon getting the phone and trying it out, a horrid realization sunk in - the caller volume was much softer than what I’m use to from my P910i. So far, I’ve had MAJOR difficulty hearing people clearly and its driving me nuts. Its almost impossible to have a conversation outdoors and i've look at every setting volume possible on this phone.
I've read someone else’s post about the volume issue here on the forum and he just received snooty remarks about bluetooth headsets, rather than a constructive look into solving this problem via rom upgrade, patch or tweak.
So i want to state this now...I don't like headsets and bluetooth gadgets. I wear glasses and they become fiddly, i lose them and it drive me crazy (trust me 3 bluetooth headsets later). I can't use speakerphone due to my work situation and i also find it a rude distraction to others. So, by comparison....the P910i had clear reception and call back volume..and this unit rates at around 20% of the P910i volume.
I'm hoping that their might be some sort of tweak, or program that uses compression algorithms or something that can boost the volume in the ear piece.
Would any rom upgrade help? I'm afraid to flash anything because basically.. i have no idea what i'm doing... and just incase there is another work around.
These are my roms...
Rom Version: 1.18.255.3
Rom date: 07/22/06
Radio version: 1.03.03.10
Protocol: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM: 1.18.255.106
Does anyone know of any issues with this set? Could i just flash the Radio rom to something later? would that help?
I'm really appealing to your compassion and advice. I feel like I’ve just wasted my money and being financially strapped to begin with, I'm feeling like crap and am not enjoying my new purchase - something that i was really looking forward to.
From all the positive reports, the TyTN sounded like a wonderful product and its feature set won me over... I just wish I could resolve this problem and start enjoying my phone.
Thanks very much and look forward to hearing your suggestions and feedback.
Best Regards,
SINC.
my headset is pretty loud and I don't even have it at 70%
but you're not the only one stating low volume, what is your phone number (serial) ? it could be a bad batch,
or try to move the phone around your ear it's a bit bulky you might not be holding it right (sorry but since you said you checked all the volumes that's all I can think of )
Serial..

What about the radio rom ugrade - thing it would help or would i make the situation worse?
Thanks.
The TyTN I had (before returning it due to touchscreen calibration problem; now waiting for replacement) showed the same behaviour: even when I turned up the volume fully, it was a lot less loud than my trusted old Magician.
I am not sure this is a bug. There was some public discussion about kids damaging their hearing by turning up their MP3 players' volume too much. I think (but I may be wrong) that there is now a legal limit to the volume of such devices, and HTC just followed that regulation.
What you can do, though, is to use a set of these headphones that really plug into your ears (an example would be the Sony MDR-EX71). These indeed cancel out most of the ambient noise when you put them in your ears, so that you should be able to clearly hear people you're on the phone with.
Unfortunately there is no adapter (yet) for the TyTN, so you will have to either cut the original HTC phones behind the microphone box and solder a plug to the ends, or (that's what I did) unsolder the original earbuds from the microphone box, then cut and solder the earbuds of the newly bought earphones.
Btw, although it's a bit of a hassle (the soldering), it's worth it. Not only does it help with your problem - also the sound quality is a lot[/] better, so I can indeed use my TyTN (when I get it back) as an MP3 player. I did the same modification on my Magician which I now have for two years, and I never regretted having cut a brand new pair of not-very-cheap earphones.
Hope I could help you.
Cheers
Daniel
Is anyone using the Sony HBH DS220 with their Tilt? & if so, what's your impression?

I decided to buy one of these. I've had it almost a week and I really like it.
The thing I like most about it, is that you can use any headphones that have the miniplug on them.
The headphones it comes with are really good though. It's plenty loud and I can get about 8 hours of play out of it, but I don't think my battery is done being exercised. It's still new.
The sound quality is AMAZING. When I listened to my first song, the first thing I said was "Wow!".
I use it all the time at work to listen to music and not disturb others. After an 8 hour shift (using it most of the time), I still have an hour or so I can use when I get home.
Pairing it was easy and when I turn the headset on, it connects to my Kaiser within 2 seconds. The only thing that annoys me, is that after a phone call - for some reason the bluetooth will disconnect. I have to press the play/pause button to get it to connect again.
Other than that, I consider it one of the best things I've purchased this year. I would recommend it to anyone that wants an A2DP bluetooth stereo headset.
The only thing I wish it had, was the ability to change tracks/songs. Other than that, it's totally perfect. I can wander all over my house and it still gets good reception. There is absolutely no hiss or static. It either plays totally clear or it cuts out entirely. It immediately picks back up when you're back in range of the signal.
I second that. One of the best BT stereo headset.
1. exchangeable headphone
2. excellent sound.
3. can battery charge while listening (many other stupid BT headset will just cut you off)
The only bad thing is bad UI for volume adjustment, and no FF/RW button.

JAMM DS220 review
Hey folks,
just thought I'd add that we published a review over on JAMM: http://justanothermobilemonday.com/...-ericsson-hbh-ds220-stereo-bluetooth-headset/
Might help for people who have questions about the headset or wonder what it looks like.

The DS-220 is outdated now. The new DS-205 comes w/ an extra button for Volume control and FF/RW.
does the DS 220 or 205 use USB mini to charge?
i have the ds 220, the sound quality is excelent and its plug and play.
the only thing is that the volume of the headset is VERY low...

No, it use the same adapter as Sony's phone. The only improvement I want for DS205 is feature on it's 970/980 series like multiple devices handling and lcd screen for caller id. (Too bad those series don't use clip and does not have 3.5mm adapter)
Hi, I have some questions after reading the commentare from other users above.
On the SE site I can read that this headset uses AVRCP, what should say you could manage the tracks (FF/RW etc.) But you all say it is not possible, why is this? Is this another version?
I'm dubbing about buying a (new) stereo bluetooth headset after my Philips SHB7102/00 was broken. I like all the features it had and want something comparable now.
The cons of the HBH-DS9xx are for me that the headphones aren't replaceable.
But I also would like to have in-ear headphones (for in the train e.g.).
Besides this one, can you recommend other headset? I hardly couldn't find any.
Battery-life is also important for me btw. It has to last at least for 6 hours, but I prefer at least 8...
A lot of question, but I hope you can answer at least some of them
*English is not my native language, so forgive me the possible mistakes...
Did a search, but "A2DP Volume" returns mainly headset reccomendations etc.
Just got a Altec lansing T515. Bargain at just £15 inc p+p!
Paired up fine with the HD2 and seems to work great so far (for the price).
My only dissapointment is that the volume controls on the phone do nothing to the volume of the headset/speakers.
I was really planning on getting some good use out of this wireless audio through a better amp and speakers but would really need to be able to use the HD2 as a remote control (Inc volume control).
Is there an app/utility/reg hack that will let me adjust the A2DP volume directly on the HD2???
Any and all advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
try it with windows media player and not the htc sense music player
Thanks mate, tried that.... same deal (almost).
When I adjust the volume inside WMP it still does nothing to the volume of the speaker/headset BUT when I press the mute button or lower the vol to 0% the sound on the BT Speaker DOES mute.
Also at one point I did get some funky 'pairing' problem where the wireless volume was changing using the HD2 volume rocker but the sound quality was terrible. Not sure what happened but I switched off/on bluetooth and when the devices paired again - the sound was back to good quality but the volume no longer worked.
Can anyone please confirm that I should be able to control the volume using the HD2 on ANY A2DP headset/speaker?
I'm currently using EnergyRom Maxsense 23xx 24th July.
Might switch to the 21July 23121 CHT ROM instead to see if that changes things.
But can anyone first please confirm that this SHOULD be working? or let me know of a regHack /cab/app I need to use or apply to get this 'remote volume' working?
Anyone help on this ^^^ please?
Same problem here with expensive Sony headset and reasonably priced JVC. Report it to HTC as a fault. No fix yet afaik
hmm well im getting my jaybird sportsband in a few days through mail, ill report in on if they work or not
This problem i have with all my bluetooth headsets ( i have had 3 ) and also have with the altec lansing soundblade (a bluetooth speaker - really cool)
the problem is that the volume control in software only effects the audio drive,a but A2D2 driver is on a different path so not affected.
For me has not been a problem because volume is always outputted at max via A2D2 and then i use volume control on the headsets or the speaker to reduce as required.
But i see if you have a headset without volume control then this can be a major problem.
Only method i did find to adjust volume via software was install SRSwow and in the options it is having 2 gain settings, input and output. Adjusting these does affect A2D2 volume.
I know its not a fix but it is a work around that may be usefull untill someone has a better option for you
Thanks very much for your input peeps!
rumpleforeskin: (Funniest name Ive seen all week lol)
Sounds like its not just a problem with my headset/speaker (or headset / ROM combo).
Ive got volume controls (which do work) On the headset adapter and on the speaker, but I REALLY want/need to be able to control volume remotely as I was planning to link the adapter to an amp without a remote control.
Looks like SRSWow might be the solution for now....I'll give it a try and report back tonight.
Thanks again for all your help chaps.
I actually fear this could be a demonstration the output audio is hardware wired and not software driven, thus meaning full incall recording will never be possible.

doubt it man, on the iphone 3gs on 3.0 u couldnt switch the volume of the headset through the phone but now with the 4.0 software u can , so its just a case of misssing software.
I use tcpmp and I can control the volume from the software while using my BT headsets (peltor)

Tried this ^^^, Works great for everything, thanks!
Only slight problem is a ~4 second lag between adjusting the volume and the change in actual volume.
Dont suppose there is any tweak to remedy this??
Thanks again for the help.

Does anyone know if there is a way to boost the Dell Venue Pro's headphone volume through some hack/EM/diagnostic?
On the Samsung Focus this is apparently possible, but the same procedure doesn't seem to work with the DVP:
http://www.wpcentral.com/boost-sound-samsung-focus-take-2
The low headphone volume really bugs me
If anyone has an idea how to boost it, please speak up
The one thing that I can contribute is that there can be a dramatic difference between the sound level of different headphones. I use a pair of Klipsh earbuds and cannot turn the volume up past 15 without it being uncomfortable. My wife uses a pair of Sony noise canceling on ear headphones and I can turn it up to around 25 without it being uncomfortable. I would suggest trying another set of headphones and if they are still very low volume you may want to consider an exchange as the Zune integration is a killer feature.

I would also like to know this as well. My Sennheiser HD 238 is super low on the DVP but when I tried it on my laptop and an iphone it was very louder. My bluetooth headphones work good/loud but plug in ones are not.
I just wanted to resurrect this thread to see if anyone made any headway with boosting the volume on the DVP. In my car I have to turn the volume up to 20, whereas on my LG G2x (android) I had to turn the volume no more than 11.
Serious lack of volume here. This is strange because the in-call volume seems a lot louder.
Tried to ask in another thread but it was kinda off topic.
Last I knew people were playing with diagnostic codes but there was no consensus on what did or did not work.
Audio from the headphone jack and seemly the blue tooth was too quiet.
Is this still an issue?
Is that a no?
In all truth, i don't use the bluetooth. But i just checked my headphones, and they sound OK. My sony earphones work great on the phone. I did d/l that one app... Media Volume Settings and set the volume all the way to 100...that may be what is making mine work better. Hope this helps!
haven't tried Bluetooth...
But when i tried headphones it was waay to loud even at 1.
I don't know how to lower the volume using codes.
You should look through the diagnostics codes thread. It has some stuff about sound changes in there as well as some of the registry tweaks you should look up if you're unhappy enough with it to need to change something.
Funkadube: I did and couldn't seem to get any reliable change. Plus having to redo it everytime I restarted the phone seemed crazy.
I know when I had mine the volume level out of the head phone port was NOT loud enough when hooked to my car radio even though every other phone I've ever had was. You'd have to goto MAX VOLUME to get it very loud and if it was a quiet song or something not at loud (I'm staring at YOU SLACKER RADIO) then you could barely get it listenable.
I then installed Bluetooth module into the car and had the same issue with it also.
I'd wish I knew someone with one I could test IRL to see if its still a problem. I'd love to switch back to WP7...
Is there a way to boost the out-of-call Bluetooth volume on the Samsung Focus? Between builds 7712 and 7720, the Bluetooth volume for voice dial responses, TellMe, and text-to-speech were drastically reduced and now they are so low that I can't hear them with the phone turned all the way up to 30/30. I used to use the phone at 20/30 with my car's Bluetooth without a problem on 7712 and 7390. Has anyone else noticed this change since upgrading to 7720?
I didn't see other people complaining about the volume in the accessories thread.
I also have a bt headset and works fine for me.

I have a Bluetooth headset and it isn't as bad with the headset. But the text-to-speech is still significantly lower than call volume. In fact, the real issue is that there's a huge imbalance between the out-of-call volume and in-call volume with Bluetooth headsets in 7720.
As I mentioned before, when the phone is paired to the car I can turn the phone up to 30/30 from 20/30, but I still have to boost the volume from the car side about 5 levels higher when I'm out-of-a-call to get any decent level of audio out of the phone. The problem then is that when I take a call it is way too loud and I have to rush to turn down the volume on the car side. It makes the use of the feature so inconvenient that I've just turned it off. While I would be perfectly content with Microsoft returning volume levels to what they were since 7004, I'd just as readily use the Samsung Diagnostic app to make the adjustment myself, if it is possible. I'm looking for any remedy at this point.
Text-to-speech was the feature I was looking forward to the most in Mango, and now it's the only feature of the OS I can't use. I can't express how frustrated and disappointed I am that this has happened, and I just can't understand why this change was made. I've seen no reports of anyone ever complaining that the volume was too loud before 7720. It's one thing if I was seeking a feature that wasn't implemented, but it is implemented and it's broken. I just wish there was some solution or recourse to make it usable again.
