SMS Header -how to define the "from" field - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I am writing a php script that will send SMS through the various provider's email to sms gateways. I have it mostly completed but I have run into one hangup: I cannot seem to define the "from" field.
Messages will appear on my phone like this
36245
[email protected]lhost()Hello, this is a message
I don't think I can change the seemingly random number "36245" which is where the phone would read the sender, but I would like to change the part at the beginning of the message that says "[email protected]" It appears to be the apache user and the host name.
---
By sending my own return path, I can control the user name, but I cannot get rid of the host name.
Does anyone know how email-to-SMS messages are read and how the headers are parsed? What header do I need to manipulate to override the from field?

me too trying to doing the same
i am also trying to do the same can anybody give me the header details

PDU Text messages

Hi,
My friend has the ability to send text messages to me disguised by any number, and to ensure I dont fall for pranks, and also to I can ensure the identity of the sender, is there a program I can use to find the true source of the message, or in retaliation a program that will allow me to diguise my number by editing the PDU.
Thanks

to sign on
send a text message to number 4646 - in your text message type SCREENAME(space)PASSWORD example bobster PaS$W0rd111
to sign off
send a blank text message to number 4647 to sign off
get you buddy list
send a text message to 4650 - in your text message type list
to get the number associated with the buddy
send a text to 4653 - in your text message type help
beware - it sends a list of 7 buddies per text. So if you have 140 screen names on your list, expect 20 text messages.
to send a instant message to someone from your buddylist
send a text to the number associated with their number
to send a instant message to an unlisted screen name
send a text message to 4654 - in your text message type SCREENAME: (space) message example bobster: hello
It would be great if this could be integrated into an app (much like what OZ messaging does, since it uses SMS).
yup, cept for the fact that OZ needs a data connection
doing the SMS way, you will have full control and won't get disconnected like agile messenger im+ and all those other messenger program, because you don't need a data connection.
only if we could incorporate it into a program like imsms
Is there a program that uses text messages instead of data?

Why isn't this hack possible????

Ok guys, I've searched and dont see this question or suggestion so please dont flame me.
Why is it possible to add a smiley from a new MMS message but not with SMS?
I use Smiley SMS but the smiley icons are very small.
Surely it's a registry hack to allow default compose to be MMS form.
Am I being stupid?
I think you're mixing things up.
MMS are MultiMedia Messages, which can contain large text and attachments (images, video, sound, etc).
SMS are text-only, so you can't put images in those. What SmileySMS does is probably the same thing as SMSChat: interprets the sms's you receive and replaces ": )" (for instance) with a smiley image stored in your device.
When you add a smiley to your message and send it, the other guy won't see a smiley, but ": )", unless he views it with your program too.
So, no, you can't registry-hack it to display images
?
Multimedia Messaging
Short Message Service
Actualy i dont get what your asking but the only simileys you can send via ems but i dont know if windows moblie.
other than that you can send the usual ;-) :-( :-D .
As said already, SMS & MMS are two different types of messages. Only the "smiley" you type goes through as text to the recipient, while SmileySMS recognizes it as an image for you to see.
I understand the differences.
What I was questioning is whether it be possible that the sms compose form be similar to MMS. So if you selected a smiley, it would send "" etc etc
Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones allow you to send SMS messages with animated smileys. It's a shortfall of WM that it doesnt give a better messaging experience.
Thanks for your input guys !!

Yeah, but you'll never really send the smiley, so your will be sent out as : D.
But instead of typing the text equivalent, I'd like to see the smiley and select it, therefore the abbreviation is automatically insterted into message - just as the MMS form does
Surely the Masterchefs can do a hack which can use the MMS form but sends as SMS
I don't know what type of device you have, but if it has a keyboard, then you might try Smilies Input Panel .
Keyboard for text and numbers, and SIP for smilies...
You can even edit it, make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see how..

i understand what u mean, but the MMS portion sends the graphic (i think) it doesnt inerpret ; - ) and change it to
smilieysms is a plugin for sms, which intercepts the text and uses its own display model to replace ; - ) with
so im guessing, no to use MMS editor, as in both instances it will place the graphic in the text body, and also on received messages, display the received graphic, not ; - ) replaced with
phew!

Nope, the MMS just inserts ascii characters into the text portion of the MMS, try it and see for yourself.
no flaming but please ask questions in the QUESTIONS Thread.

Looking for help with Registry and Email

I am looking for any info regarding wether or not there is any registry value that stores email subject and body text that I can pull from. What I am trying to do is similar to M2D's email and SMS pages. I would like to access the subject and body of emails and SMS so that I may use that text in my own Today skin, (a preview of emails or SMS without having to open the
Messaging program). I have looked in the registry but have been unable to find what I am looking for. The only thing I found is the messaging state that shows how many emails and SMS that I have, no actual text from the email or SMS itself. If there is no existing registry value, can one be created that I would be able to pull from, and if that is not possible is there a plugin that I would be able to use that would give me access to the emails without having to open the messaging center on my phone, and if there is no plugin that exists would anyone be willing to help me make a program that would run in the background that would put email and SMS text in a registry value that could be pulled from if that is even possible to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SMS Send - maximum name length bug

probably a problem that not many other people have encountered, but I kept having an error message when sending an sms to my wife, using her entry in my contacts, along the lines of "not enough numbers in this phone number".
I thought it strange seeing as the phone number i had is the right one and works for calling etc.
just realised why. it only happens when i click "new message" and then type the first few characters of the name, then select it from the suggested names. no problems if i just select the message thread and add a new message.
the problem is that my wife's name is inordinately long (31 characters not including spaces) and that there is a limit in how many characters the SMS "to" field will allow ... and by the time it had her name in there, there was only room remaining for half her phone number.
so it was just trying to send to half of her phone number cos that's all there was space for!
anyone know a reg hack to increase the maximum allowed characters in sms "to:" field? otherwise i'll just have to chop off half her name
