Downgrading Wing to WM5

Hi. I own a T-Mobile Wing and and hate it's constant lagging, freezing, i could go on for a while.. Is there a way to downgrade the OS the WM5? WM6 is weak compared to it's predecessor. I used to have an MDA, but it broke, which is why i have the wing now. could i use the same rom i used on my mda, or is it not compatible? if i can't flash a wm5 rom, does anyone have any suggestions?

AFAIK you are not able to flash WM5 straight to your phone. If you have tested all(bolding because the WM6 port of the trinity is just as efficient as the WM5 Herald) the WM6 roms to your phone and are still not satisfied you can cook up your own ROM and flash it to your phone. Or follow the advice of a fellow xda'er and CID unlock your phone to allow the flashing of the WM5 Herald RUU.

Download and run this
Then do this.
Problem solved. The phone isn't bricked anymore and it's much more responsive. (I find it to be a LOT smoother than my wizard.)

It would be great if I can get the RUU to download but for some reason it doesnt. Can you send me a different link to the one you have?

I'll try to mirror it when I get home. I might even mirror in on my temporary server and let you get it from there as long as we can get online at the same time. (I don't like leaving the PC on because of the power bill... lol)

i've been searching all over the net for a WM6 update to my MDA Vario T-mobile pocket pc, i've downloaded many versions but they all end up with the "Error (300)" something that the utility version is old or sth..
So please i'll be thankful if anyone can give me a direct link to it..

Somehow, I doubt it.
There's already a thread on this VERY BOARD, with a nearly identical question. Why, oh why, can't you just actually search first?
In order to get to this board, you had to pass near one that was called Wizard Mobile 6. It's on the same freakin' website as this board!!!

Your phone is CID locked,in order to upgrade you got to have it CID unlocked,now if you have G3 device,then follow the unlocking guide and how to upgrade guide posted as stickies in the 'wizard upgrading forum',but if you have a G4 device,it cannot be Cid unlocked,but there's a method 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL' in the G4 forum.Read and follow the guides to upgrade to latest wm 6 Roms.

I have been looking around and can't find a solution yet. Can you tell me how to install wm5 or 6 on my I-mate sp3 ? It has wm2003se currently. I downloaded and tried lots of wm5 and 6 and also rom upgrade utilities bt still can't get it done. Please help me.

Follow the guide (top of the page), and install the recommended rom.
Then update the ROM with version 6.1 (v1.2).
It works perfect for my iMate SP3, bluetooth, MMS, everything....just Infrared does not work, but it's ok, I do not need IR.

I downloaded all of the links... however, nothing worked. Seems they are for other sets. Can you help me how to upgrade to wm5 or 6 ???

Can you please guide me through all process. I don't know how to make my device as supercid, unlock and how to install spl 1.01.0109.

...please seach this forum, for sure you can find everything what you need, including the step-by-step guide how to upgrade your typhoon.
If you are not able to find the guide here, I think it is waste of time for you to try upgrading - after reading this thread it is pretty clear that you are about to damage your device ...

upgrading Mobile Wind5 to Wind6 of my I-mate KJAM

Hi there, to everyone can someone help me out how to do the steps on upgrading my I-Mate KJAM from Windows mobile 5 to Windows mobile 6 bcoz this is the only way to configure so I can access Internet through wireless router. I tried once but it says, SipConfigTool error. Thanks. marivik.

First get to know the DOC Chip version of the phone,which device it is,G3 or G4.
Read and fully understand the guide posted in this link below and do the procedure correctly,you'll find all the info and requirements for upgrading in this guide :

Ok, if the IPL/SPL is only 2.16 no further 0001 like 2.16.0001,then its a G3 device,but if its 2.16.0001,then its G4.Note the last trailing three 000 and 1 at the last.
The difference Between G3 and G4 is the last trailing three '000's and 1 at the last.

hi! thanks so much for the responses and feedback. this thread is so important for me, a newbie!
i've got a simple question, i hope someone of the users in here can provide me an answer. my IPL/SPL are both 1.01. therefore my device is G3,
the question are as follows:
1. Do I still need to downgrade with Button ROM? bearing the fact my IPL/SPL are already 1.01
2. Do I need to use Lokiwiz 0.2b to unlock my device. It is mentioned that 1.xx IPL/SPL are necessary for the upgrade process. since they are both 1.01, do i still need to do this?
3. Could anyone recommend me the "latest" and most less buggy ROM for me? i am very new to this, i really want to have a successful flash.

Your phone has already got IPL/SPL 1.xx,therefore,there's no need to downgrade with Button's Rom,its essential to have 1.xx for SIM/CID unlocking.
YUP ! as your phone is still SIM/CID locked,so you'll have to use lokiwiz02b to SIM/CID unlock it for onward upgrade to wm6.You can also use WST_4.2.2 tool also to SIM/CID unlock the phone,but remember to have IPL 1.xx.
Just follow the guide posted in my above link to understand it correctly to unlock and upgrade.
Check out the 'Wizard Mobile 6' sub-forum for latest wm6.1 Roms.It all depends upon your own choice.

zadardast thx a lot for your response. i was so excited yesterday, so i couldn't wait to flash it right away. however, with my lack of common sense... i upgraded my device first to the latest ROM available on clubimate.com
now my devise has IPL/SPL of 2.xx, which means i need to follow all the steps
knowledge (and common sense) is power, wish me luck wish the flashing

I downloaded and tried installing Faria's Windows Mobile 6 today, it failed exactly at 99%? Help please! All I then got was the red green blue screen. I am not sure how I managed to restore Windows mobile 5 back on the phone, had to kill some wcescomm.exe process again and again and got lucky I guess!
My cell phone is unlocked and I don't think I need to get anything unlocked, just need help on finding some decent Windows Mobile 6+ tom

1-how can i know that my phone is official unlocked from t-mobile
2-i go to website and enter my phone IMEI And accebt it and download new version of rom........can i upgrade to new rom
3- what u advice to me for upgrade?

I suggest you still verify the phone is unlocked but not sure how.
As for rom just follow the directions in the sticky to flashing HSPL then pick out the rom you want. I did mine in about 20 minutes. I have the Energy Rom plus Android running.
