I upgrade my pda to wm6 english, and I want to add greek interface without to flash again. I have the greek mui files and I'm asking how to incorporate them to wm6. I suppose that these files must be signed, but witch is the way to do it? Then I think must copy them to windows folder and change some registry settings, but again I dont know what must to change. Is that the way or must to do and some other actions? And how?
Any ideas, suggestions and directions will be very helpfull.
Thanks!

how to change the ppc system language in wm5? like transfer tranditional Chinese to simplfied Chinese or Korean to Japanese.
we have to replace the fontbase, but what else i need to do ???
Basically, there are two ways:
1) Install a language pack (if you can find one) which includes MUIs (interface translation files) fonts (if needed) and keyboard(s) (also if needed). Sometimes it also contains a replacement for wince.nls which contains other language specific definitions like date / time / currency format and calendar.
2) Get a ROM in the desired language (if the manufacturer has one) and reflash.
or doing 1 by making the language pack one self
think the packs at buzzdev.net are don by users
I want do it by myself, the developer will not realease that.
Now my purpose is to transfer WM5 English version to simplified Chinese version,so the fontbase must be replace,i dont know what file i need, and which folder to put these files in.which part of the REG i have to edit? i have the simplfied Chinese for wince.nls, and simplfied Chinese fontbase for ac3,but i dont know how to do it.
My goal is not only support simplfied Chinese,i want whole interface of the system are running under simplfied Chinese, please tell me how to achieve this?
Well here are the basics:
1st all the files go under windows.
These are the files you need:
*.ttf - all the fonts you want supported on the system (usually tahoma and courier new)
.xxxx.MUI - these are interface files (menus and dialogs) where xxxx is the LCID number (no idea what it is for Chinese but there is a list somewhere on MS site).
If you can get a ROM dump (you can even use TestWM5.exe by mamiac on this forum) you can use resource hacker to create MUIs in your language. It's fairly easy.
Sorry I don't have the time right now to find all the links, but a quick google search should do it. Also look for posts by asukal on this forum. He did a lot of work on language packs.
Good luck.
LCID for Simplified Chinse is 0x0804, or 0n2052. I'm Chinese...
Please ask so, how to do inside the ROM that then can wrap language to integrate to the equipments, substitute its language?
I am trying to change the word completion suggestions to italian when typing an sms...
I know that on WM5 you have to replace some files (MSSP3.LEX, dictprob.dat and statdict.dat) in your windows directory...
Could you please confirm this procedure is correct, and if you need to rename some other way these files?
Thank you very much everybody!
I have a qtek 8500 smartphone and I want to use the cingular rom that works well, but to install the greek interface language pack. I have the greek mui files and I tried to copy them to the windows directory of my device and change some registry settings to include greek but that doesn't work. So I missed something I guess and need to do some more changes.
Could anyone help me and advice me on how to do this? What need to do to recognized the language from system? And what must change or add in registry? I signed the mui files with msigner before copy them to the device but nothing change, so need to do more things.
Anyone with this kind of knowlege and experience to help me with a step by step tutorial?
Thanks!
most people just cook a rom with the greek interface files... do a search... I think there is a tutorial on how to change interface languages that actually involves greek as the example.
I know that. But also there are some people here that make some language packs that can installed as cab files and I think that it is possible with smartphones. And I want to know the procedure and the registry changes so to try it on this device. And this is a wm5 device.
Finally I figure it out. The problem was the signed files. Must first to unsign and then sign them again. Now I have my singular rom in greek!!!
Hello,
I'm trying to localize my German and English PPC devices into Polish language.
I do this on 2003 and 2003 devices, it was easy.
But in WM 5.0 and 6.0 is somethink like file certification, and system don't want to run my MUI and DLL files placed in Windows folder.
Plase help me, some one have a sample source code in C++ or C# how to change system registry or modiffy WM to run my MUI (language resources) and DLL (keyboard) files.
or how corectly cert this files without pay Geotrust or other company.
Thanks and greatings,
Kamil
use msigner to sign them..
Thank You
Where can i found source code for this program msigner, and other version called: unsigner or somethink like this ?
And i will ask for somethink different. Because i think you can know. Where can i find source example explain how i can install dll and other files into rom (i mean, when i do hard reset that files will be in device.)
Thks,
Kamil
if u want to place the dlls or other files in to ROM while cooking..its easy just place them in the dump..or u can use resco explorer to copy them while u are using the rom...if u place them while cooking it will be available when u hardreset..but if u put it through resco or some other s/w..they wnt be there
here's where u can get it

I just want to ask all the experts here if it is possible to change the save path of the notes application on WM6.
In options of notes i can only change between sd-card or device, and device is set to "My Documents", but I would like to change this to "My Documents\Notes.
Does anyone know a registry tweak or anything else to modify the save path please ?
Many thanx in advance and sorry for my bad english.
Just install File Dialog Changer... You can find it here...
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=752
This is way better than the stupid Microsoft File Dialog because it allows you to load and save files wherever yoy want..
I used it with my old WM2003SE Dell x50v, WM5 and WM6 x51v and I never had any problem. Is 100% compatible with every application I tested.
