[wm5] IBM J9 Java

Attached: IBM J9 Java (weme-wm50-arm-midp20_6.1.0.20060727-102926)
Packed as CAB (no need to copy files manually), with *.jad and *.jar associations.
Files:
install.pdf from IBM - how to install (not needed), how to use.
J9_full 6.1.0.20060727-102926.CAB - full installation - Java Virtual Machine, Midlet manager, Midlet runner, libraries. Size after install - 3.4Mb
J9_tiny 6.1.0.20060727-102926.CAB - simplified installation. Without Java Virtual Machine (probably you don't need), without debugging support (probably you don't need), without eastern languages support (sorry, they are too big for me). Only Midlet manager, Midlet runner, libraries. Installs automatically into main storage. Size after install - 2.3Mb
thanks for this. I had the WM2003 version and was annoying not being able to use the soft buttons in the Midlet Manager
ibm-weme-wm50-sp-arm-midp20-6.1.0
Is there any chance someone could also post the smartphone installer?
thanks man... that help me.

Did you install the full version?
I tried the tiny version first, then the full version and it didn't make a difference
Can you redo the cab so when we install it, we have choice to where we want to install it? I want ot install it into my storage card. Thanks!
Also, anyone having problems getting the shortcut parameters "-xjam:run=1" to work? I had it working w/ the older version of the Java. This automatically runs the first program in the menu, which makes it more convenient than having to manually choose it.
Thank-you
Yes thank-you that helped me too.
Hi
Sorry for my supid question but : what is the difference with this one and the midlet manager already installed on HTC devices ? Is it a version for developpers ?
Cheers.
Sorry. I was off line.

Probably - you will not see any differences. Me too
In my opinion: IBM Java for Linux is the best of the best. I believe that IBM knows everything about Java. I believe, that J9 is the best of the best too
But probably midlets are not too complicated to see any differences between Java Virtual Machines

J9 gave me nothing compared with Intent.
In fact, I find it panifully slow compared to the former one. For example, it takes almost 25 seconds for MGMaps to load a screen with J9, 8 to 10 seconds for Intent...

No 3D support at all. And, for that matter, no for example Nokia support either.

[Visual Studio 2008] How to convert a desktop app to Smart Device ?

Hello,
I am currently developing a new app for Windows Mobile. It is using different pieces of open source code that I Grab here and there.
This app is not yet finnished, but a lot of things are working fine on my PC.
Before continuing I would like to give it a try on the PPC emulator.
I thought I would easily find a way to convert the whole project to "smart device", but didn't find !
How to do that ? do yuou know the trick ?
Thanks for your help,
Impossible. But you can find a nice article on MSDN about this.

The .Net Compact Framework (used for Windows Mobile) just supports a subset of the features that are implemented in the full .Net Framework.

It is meant to be a cross platform framework. But as mentioned above, the .NETCF supports a subset of the .NET Framework.
You're able to build an application which can run on both applications, but then you're limited to the .NETCF.
Converting is possible, by hand. Not automatically. Try to open the solution and copy/paste parts from your desktop-application to a device-application.

Try Basic4PPC - they have a good set of libraries that makes it easy to write a program - as well as pretty good customer support and a helpful programming community.
