how to make it stay on longer ? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

When I open application and leave it about less than 1 minute, it turns off. how do you make it on longer ? thanks

come on guys. help me. this is a simple question to answer.

Start - Settings - System - Power - Advanced
Change battery power off timeout, or untick the box if you don't want it to switch itself off (will drain battery fully if left unattended).
Hope this is what you were after.

I don't understand. I mean I can't find it
what I see in there is
-On battery power:
turn off device if not used for
-On external power:
turn off device if not used for

You are in the right place.
Where it says :
-On battery power:
turn off device if not used for
There should be a tick box to the left and a drop down box with times to the right. Ticking the box tells the device to power off if not used for the time defined in the drop down box when running on battery.
Where it says:
-On external power:
turn off device if not used for
There should also be a tick box to the left and a drop down box with times to the right. Ticking the box tells the device to power off if not used for the time defined in the drop down box when running connected to an external power supply (charger or USB connection).
You need to tick the boxes appropriately - do you want the device to switch off when connected to the external power and/or when running on battery?
You also need to set the time settings appropriately. How long do you want the device to stay on if keys are not touched when running on battery?
Personally I have the battery box ticked and the external box unticked. Battery timeout is set to 3 minutes and the external timeout is not importanat as it is switched off. Result is my device auto powers off after 3minutes when running on battery, but doesn't auto power of when connected to the charger or to a USB connection.
Hope this is clearer and answers your query.

Screen Always on when charging

Anytime I have the K-Jam charging, the screen never goes dim, the backlight is always on. I have selected 5 min shut whether on internal or external power..?
What am I missing..?
Start->Settings->Power, then click the "Advanced" tab. ensure a checkmark appears in the setting for "On Battery Power" (e.g., Turn off device if not used for..").
It will shutdown when connected to a wall charger, but will never dim when connected to a computer via the USB.
Is this a known issue..?
its not a error, its how it should be, when your connected to computer, its not inactive, activesync is constantly running and watching what you are doing.
If anything, you should cancel your activesync process to disable this and also cancel the activesync on the device.
Alternatively, you can try just dimming the screen after inactivity.

What is the reason of short time battery using of Exec!

Dear friends,
I am using an Exec ppc phone. in the recently time, it become very poor battery. When i turn on wifi, i only can use when battery is full. When it reduced to 75%, the device was soft reset. on the other hand, when i turn oFf wifi, i can use till the battery remain 40% then it is softe reset and can not continue if i don't plug on the battery charging!
Please give me an advice or measurecounter!
thank you so much!
Try this:
Control panel -> system -> power, "advanced" tab.
In the "On Battery Power" section,
make sure the tick box is on for it to turn off after x mins.
I had the same problem until I ticked this box. Closing the lid will power down the screen, but not the device, which is a bit annoying.
You got unlucky with a faulty battery, that's all. You can get a new one from eBay very cheaply these days...

Touch not going off

Hi all
For some strange reason my Touch's back light will go off, but the screen itself will not turn off.
Any ideas, it's killing my battery if I forget to turn it off manually.
Thanks.
Well.....I'll start simple....have you checked to make sure 'turn off device if not used' is checked and you have a reasonable time limit set like 30 secs or a minute? You'll find this under start-->settings-->systems-->power-->advanced. Check to see if it behaves the same way on A/c power too.
I just double checked the settings and all is still right. Funnily enough the screen did go off afterwards. It just seems to do it every now and again. Did Microsoft carry over the need to restart every now and again from XP
Hmmm....you know my phone does that too sometimes. But I've noticed it only happens when its charging or on A/c power. It stays on for a bit longer after the backlight has turned off.....and I've had to wait for upto 3-5 mins for it to turn off. Perhaps your phones doing something similar.
Mine also does not go off when plugged in, but that's because I set it not to (in power settings).
I found my phone completely dead this morning ... any ideas??

X1 Standby mode

Is anybody can explain to me , how the standby mode works in X1.
I just changed from an asus p535 where if i pushed the power button once the phone gone to sleep mode and the active sinc lost connection, the phone completly in sleep ...
Now with the x1 when i push the power button its not gone to sleep and the AS just keeps working, and because of this i worried about the battery life, it should work for longer time when its completly in sleep
How can i archieve the full sleep on X1?
I think it makes a difference if USB is connected or not. Power button works different with Headphones plugged in (Screen off) or not (Suspend).
When you sync your phone with your PC using the USB cable, the battery is charging as if it was through the wall charger
WM is set by default to "not turn off the phone if not used" when it used on external power so it never go to sleep mode
If you want your phone going to sleep mode when used on external power: go to settings -> system -> power. Then check "turn off the phone if not used for" under "on external power" and set the time it should wait before going to sleep mode
plus it's a myth that charing it often is bad for the batt so it don't matter if it's charging when you have it connected long periods of time

True that.

GT-i9505 S4 Screen Time Out does not activate after charging phone

I have a Galaxy GT-i9505 S4 and whenever the phone is fully charged, I plug out the micoUSB charger cable from the phone FIRST and then after the power charger adaptor from the power outlet. Thats the way to do it according to the user guide.
But, after doing all that after its charged, the phone's screen stays on and the Screen does not time itself out even though I set the display to time out after 30 seconds.
It does time out after 30 seconds whenever I tap something or do something on the screen, or nornally after doing tasks on the phone, it does do its normal time out after 30 seconds.
But I dont know why it did not time out after a full charge session.
Thanks.
I had a smiliar problem, the screen never shut off when connected to a power source. I think somehow the Android debug settings got transferred from my last phone.
These are not the exact words (I use Swedish) but it should get you where you need to go.
Go to Settings - More - About - click "Build nr" until you get a prompt saying Developer options activated - press Back - Developer options - Uncheck "Stay awake".
Hope that helps.

Stay Awake was already UNCHECKED.
And just to understand here, the screen itself DOES shut off during charging, but the screen remains ON after unplugging it from the charger. And the only time the screen times out, is after when I press or do something on the screen. or after normal operating usage.
I just noticed that after I unplugged it from the charger, then I went to another room to do something and this was way longer than 30 seconds, and came back and the screen was still ON.
But, AFTER normal operating usage, the screen always times out after 30 seconds. So, thats OK. No issues there.
I had the problem with the no longer automatically / manually turn-off display and for me it was rename / delete the bootsamsung.qmp in system / media / the cause, soon to rename them or delete the display turns of not more itself off or even manually by button ...
is reproducible, but why no idea, when an idea who likes because nothing is even now what you would normally get in touch oO
