Hello, i'm waiting from ebay an keyboard for qtek 9000(in this case, T-mobile MDA) and it was a qwertz layout.
the question is, if I change the original keyboard to a new keyboard with diferente button positions such as Ok button, video call button and others, will pda recognize the diference and atribute right function to each button?

Tanks a lot!!!
Seriously?
No it will not. the picture shows just a QWERT keypad with no electronics so it will not re-map anything (read: it will function exactly as the old keyboard)
remap via software
but how can i do that, which software will i use?
Tanks!
can i change sym.xxxx.txt file and fix ok, start, video call...blablabla buttons?

I suppose you must find the correct language code for the keyboard, nothing else.
Someone cofirm?
PLEASE????
i don't now if i install imate rom, will solve the problem?
DESPERATED.........
Hell, the keyboard is compatible all most in every button, but wen I install it, after disassemble universal...the original space button was 1 contact, and this new one was 2 contacts.so, the new space button of new keyboard is not campatible....You can see in link, on the back side os keyboard!
At least, housing for universal of the same seller is very, very good!!!

Running WM6.1 on my Hermes but the "y" and "z" keys on the hardware keyboard are swapped.
Is there a way to change the keys back to normal, perhaps via a registry hack ?
Thanks
Anyone ???
There must be a way to re-assign keys on the slide out keyboard. Right ?
okey dokey....installed Advanced Configuration Tool 3.2 and solved the problem.
Hope this helps someone.
QWERTZ layout is German.
GO Links???
Deleted for reason I found the link, on ask search!
Have a good one!
Hello,
I tried Search button first, so if there is a topic already, please can you post the link?
Anyway.
I'm from czech republic and I'm very used to qwertz keyboard layout instead of qwerty. Is there any posibility to swap Y and Z on HW keyboard? I already tried change keyboard layout to czech (using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446449) but it didnt help.
I would very much appreciate if someone can help me.
Thanks in advance
Don't know if you checked this (in czech):

For non-czech speakers .. the post above (here on XDA-developers) says how to SWITCH the layout. Here is the method how the modify it.
There should be simple readeble text file in the phone at path:
Phone\Windows\sym.0409.txt
(replace your locale code, see the post above).
In this file, replace any characters to obtain modified layout. Haven't tried by myself though.
Thank you, but
as far as I understood this file only changes characters that are offered by pressing "àű" right after some character - I mean when you press A you get à after first press of "àű" button and á after second press of "àű" button etc.
I'd like to change the layout from qwerty to qwertz. Just swap Y/Z, nothing more.
Any other ideas?
you need AEKMap.
I did this for my i780, just check the link in my sig.
you have to do the same for the X1, but i am not sure if the keycodes are identical. just try it out.
Thanks very much, this actualy works. I only wonder if it will slow down my device in some way.
it doesn't slow down my i780 and it is super lightweight.
you can also rearrange your czeck special letters in the sym txt file like others have pointed out. should give you a fully working, localized keyboard.
If all you want is to exchange Y and Z, go to the link in you first post and change the code to german layout. it works!
Well, that was the first think I thought of. But there are too many changes in the layout. So that was no option for me. but thanks for idea
btw. this AEkmap doesnt work in text boxes on pages in opera mobile.
Hi all,
I have upgraded my mobile to PDXHL2 and everything works fine (my i780 has Eng and arabic Keyboard).
My problem in the keyboard!!!
I have the mail symbol on the keyboard if I press it; it will show as GPS shortcut (in other country)...anyway next to this botton is "." and "!" botton
if I press it when writing it will open the mail box/sms and I can't find the dot "." botton!!!
in the left of the "0" botton I have "AB" which it should be used to switch between the langauge (It needs for my case Arabic installation)
Sorry for my long message but just want to change the keyboard back like before
Thx
Anyone can help...
in addition....If I install Arabic the keyboard (external) wont work proberly
Try asking your question here or Q&A forum on XDA-dev:

Thx...I'll try
Did you find the solution to the keypad mapping???
Nop...!!!
I'll post now on PPCSG
I couldn't post it there...I'm wondering why?
Maybe I have to write 10 atricles?
Can someone help?
++++++++++++++
Now I post it...it was activation issue
No one reply...!!!
No Answers...it seems I'm the only one having this problem?
Ok can Any one get me keybad or keyboard layouts files so I can replace it in my mobile?
Any Idea?
The keyboard of my Kaiser stopped working for 5 characters so I had to replace it with the new one.
The problem is that the original keyboard was Scandinavian (with its Å,Ä and Ö) and the new one is English. However, I can use the aforementioned characters if I remember their original position (on the new keyboard) even though they're not visible on keyboard buttons.
Someone was selling the keypads and keyboard PCB in Ebay so now I have two possibilities:
1. replace the working English keypad with my original Scandinavian keypad to that keyboard which still works. Then Å,Ä,Ö etc. would be visible on the keyboard and then I wouldn't have memorize their position on English keyboard, or
2. purchase a brand new keyboard PCB and replace the original one in my Scandinavian keyboard.
Now my problem is that I haven't seen any HTC TyTn II/Kaiser/P4550 keyboard dismantling tutorials anywhere. OK, I know how to take the whole phone apart (there are some tutorials for that) but I don't know how to remove the keypad from the keyboard or the keyboard PCB from the keyboard without breaking the keyboard.
If anyone has any hints for this one or knows where to find a tutorial for this, I'd really appreciate it.
I would like to know this too, my keyboard has a few disfunctional keys and I'm wondering how hard it would be to replace.
Hello,
after 5 years my Wizard is died so I diceded to buy a new one!
I found a very cheap QWERTZ but I need a QWERTY keyboard (as mine is) so, if I buy it, I have to change the registry keys... But what will happen after that? If I'll type "Z" on the keyboard it will write "Y" on the screen?
If yes, do you think I can swap the two hardware keyboards to allign software and hardware?
Thanks
Hi, i dont know about registry, but if you buy new hardware jeyboard, youll need plastic keyboard that youre tiping on. I have changed inner keynoard but not the plastic im tiping and i have got wrong all. Mine was qwertz but now is qwerty. Greetings from Serbia!!
Hi, I have changed the keyboard of my wiza (just the plastic keys) from Qwerty to Qwertz, if you want to have QWERTY on your new Wiza, just disarms your old phone and take the Keyboard to the new one, it most work right with an English rom =)
Good Luck!!
