[Q] Can I change software & hardware keyboard? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello,
after 5 years my Wizard is died so I diceded to buy a new one!
I found a very cheap QWERTZ but I need a QWERTY keyboard (as mine is) so, if I buy it, I have to change the registry keys... But what will happen after that? If I'll type "Z" on the keyboard it will write "Y" on the screen?
If yes, do you think I can swap the two hardware keyboards to allign software and hardware?
Thanks

Hi, i dont know about registry, but if you buy new hardware jeyboard, youll need plastic keyboard that youre tiping on. I have changed inner keynoard but not the plastic im tiping and i have got wrong all. Mine was qwertz but now is qwerty. Greetings from Serbia!!

Hi, I have changed the keyboard of my wiza (just the plastic keys) from Qwerty to Qwertz, if you want to have QWERTY on your new Wiza, just disarms your old phone and take the Keyboard to the new one, it most work right with an English rom =)
Good Luck!!

change to keyboard with diferente button positions

Hello, i'm waiting from ebay an keyboard for qtek 9000(in this case, T-mobile MDA) and it was a qwertz layout.
the question is, if I change the original keyboard to a new keyboard with diferente button positions such as Ok button, video call button and others, will pda recognize the diference and atribute right function to each button?
url for new keyboard from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Keypad-Keyboard...yZ150774QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Tanks a lot!!!
Seriously?
No it will not. the picture shows just a QWERT keypad with no electronics so it will not re-map anything (read: it will function exactly as the old keyboard)
remap via software
but how can i do that, which software will i use?
Tanks!
can i change sym.xxxx.txt file and fix ok, start, video call...blablabla buttons?

DESPERATED.........
Hell, the keyboard is compatible all most in every button, but wen I install it, after disassemble universal...the original space button was 1 contact, and this new one was 2 contacts.so, the new space button of new keyboard is not campatible....You can see in link, on the back side os keyboard!
At least, housing for universal of the same seller is very, very good!!!

Changing keyboard's keypad and/or keyboard PCB

The keyboard of my Kaiser stopped working for 5 characters so I had to replace it with the new one.
The problem is that the original keyboard was Scandinavian (with its Å,Ä and Ö) and the new one is English. However, I can use the aforementioned characters if I remember their original position (on the new keyboard) even though they're not visible on keyboard buttons.
Someone was selling the keypads and keyboard PCB in Ebay so now I have two possibilities:
1. replace the working English keypad with my original Scandinavian keypad to that keyboard which still works. Then Å,Ä,Ö etc. would be visible on the keyboard and then I wouldn't have memorize their position on English keyboard, or
2. purchase a brand new keyboard PCB and replace the original one in my Scandinavian keyboard.
Now my problem is that I haven't seen any HTC TyTn II/Kaiser/P4550 keyboard dismantling tutorials anywhere. OK, I know how to take the whole phone apart (there are some tutorials for that) but I don't know how to remove the keypad from the keyboard or the keyboard PCB from the keyboard without breaking the keyboard.
If anyone has any hints for this one or knows where to find a tutorial for this, I'd really appreciate it.
I would like to know this too, my keyboard has a few disfunctional keys and I'm wondering how hard it would be to replace.

Samsung Keyboard ECR-K10D @-Problem

Anyone knows how i could do a @ with the keys of the samsung keyboard ECR-K10D?
It doesnt have a key for it and i dont know any keyboard combination?
Thx for answer ... and @samsung ... what do u think, that people dont need the @? Lol
J.
I can't say for the QWERTZ keyboard, but on the UK QWERTY keyboard @ is pretty much in the same position as it is on my laptop - just above and slightly to the left of the right hand shift key.
Regards,
Dave
Hmm, i will send a photo. Could it be, that the qwertz keyboard doesnt have this key? ok, if this stupid thing is reality. .. is there any app in the market, which let me change the keys on the samsung ecr-k10d keyboard?
I will attach a photo of my qwertz-version of the keyboard.
thx for more answers.
sincerly daJhoony
Where is @ on your "soft" QWERTZ keyboard?
Regards,
Dave
I have to hold the ".,?" key, to get the small popup windows with a @ in it. Or the "123" button opens a small popup, with the @ inside.
Any ideas?
When all else fails, read the manual.
@Paten ... verry funny hint. I allready read it, before i post anything. So, is there way to change the assignments of the keyboard?
Thx
Have you tried holding shift while hitting every key to see if one is the @ symbol? If shift doesn't work, try ctrl and alt as well.
Hm, no way. I've tried every combination, every key with Shift and CTRL. The keyboard dont have an alt-key. It looks, like samsung got a big plan, what comes after the internet...
or the hole qwertz-team is a gang of idiots...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
well before thrashing on samsung and the team, its already weird enough on QWERTZ using pop up to get the @
how bout your original QWERTZ keyboard on computer maybe, how to get the @?
or maybe you can ask samsung center directly who sells it, and they can ask their technician to give you the proper answer
I got the UK version today and it has the @ button.
What a fantastic keyboard btw !!
Glad i read this topic

For me using the QWERTY Keyboard from Samsung the SHIFT-2 (like a normal US keyboard and how it's labeled on the samsung keyboard) gives me a double qoute (")... So I tried using the SHIFT-" (double quote key) and it gives you the @ key that you are looking for.
So it looks like the keys are reversed.

How to change QWERTZ keyboard layout to act like QWERTY?

I just activated a Blackberry Priv. However, i now notice that the lovely hardware keyboard is QWERTZ layout instead of QWERTY.
How do you switch the language/layout of the hardware keyboard? I cant find any information on this with google - only information on other blackberry devices. I don't get it, since I have the keyboard set to US English in the settings panel. There doesn't seem to be any other option regarding the layout?

My keyboard is QWERTY as it should be.
1) Did you update Blackberry apps from the Play store? If blackberry apps don't show in play store, then just search for "blackberry" in the play store and all needed apps will appear and update button will show.
If you have already done the first step, then go to settings>language & input>blackberry keyboard settings>input languages and here might be an update to the specific language.
I've updated the blackberry software, but still no options seem to effect the hardware keyboard. I can change the layout of the software keyboard, but it only seems to apply to the software keyboard.

By the way, do you see the on-screen keyboard when physical one is open?
No, I don't see software keyboard on screen when the hardware keyboard is out. Am I supposed to? That seems like it would be undesirable. I see just three suggested words along the bottom of the screen.
any luck with this? i would love to change freom qwerty to qwertz and have actuallz physically changed the keyboard already... but the setting to change it is missing
Same here. Just bought BlackBerry Priv with psysical qwertz and found that there is no tweak keys for that. I would like to change these letters virtualy, to press z and get y and opposite. How to do this. Help!
This will help solving it, install and swap y and z https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=innerlife.keyboard.multilanguagekeymapredefiner
just wanted to comment and say this helped me a ton with my key2 thanks so much @Mr.PeterAmgad!!

Thanks, this worked! But now the number 7 is mapped to the Z key (alt + z), and alt + y brings out parenthesis. It's not a huge issue, but it seems there is not way remap alt + y so it will output 7 as it is in the original layout.
Also it seems there is no autocorrect available at all when using this keyboard? I was relying on autocorrect to put the right accents in Spanish, I can't seem to be able to enable this again even if I switch the language to Spanish.
In the end I created a custom QWERTZ to QWERTY keyboard for AnySoftKeyboard. It solves the issue of having Y mapped to parenthesis and Z to number 7 I mentioned above.
I made them for both English and Spanish (the Spanish one lets you write "ñ" by pressing "n" three times).
I also made a custom build of AnySoftKeyboard that make predictions work with the Key2 hardware keyboard. But if you just want the remapping, it works the fine with the official AnySoftKeyboard, just predictions don't work unless you use the on-screen keyboard.
Only tested with the BB Key2.

Hello raymccoy,
i tryed your workaround, but its not working on my Key2. I installt the Anysoftkeyboad from Your attachments and your languages apks. But my physical Keyboard does not change the layout. Can you tell me the steps to install?
Thanks
Marc
it does not work for me either. it does not remap anything, furthermore it crashes
I have to correct myself! it works, but it's necessary to install the last version of the app (from Playstore) to prevent it from crashing... AND it's necessary to show the virtual keyboard, otherwise physical keyboard remapping will not take place. Thankfully, the virtual keyboard can be made really tinyn so it will not be too invasive on the screen (see screenshot). Tested on BB Key2.
