Brando screenprotectors available - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

FYI Just noticed that the TyTN II screenprotectors have become available on shop.brando.com.hk

I read somewhere that TyTn I screen protector would not fit the TyTn II. Both screens are 2.8 inches yet the TyTn II is about a mm shorter. I don't know how far this is true as yet I do not have the TyTn II. But if this is true than one must be absolutely sure that a protector specifically designed for TyTn II is procured. Just a not of caution.

The TyTN screen indeed is slightly bigger, but the p3300 screen actually has exactly identical dimensions. My hunch is that is what Brando has done.

I'm wondering whether I should get the Brando UltraClear or wait for Martin Fields to release one for the TyTn II.
Martin Fields have always been my first choice for screen protectors (two previous Sony Ericsson Phones, PSP, HTC S710, Sony digital camera) as they are very easy to apply and are crystal clear.
The screen protector supplied with the TyTn II in the box is rubbish, lots of bubbles and generally poor. I just hope it doesn't have any sticky adhesive when I take it off to replace it.

Dah... Which one to pick?
Hmm I see that Brando currently has 2 different Screenprotectors available for the Kaiser / TyTN 2
Brando Workshop Ultra Clear and the Brando Workshop Anti-Glare Screen Protectors.
I remember from my Nokia 770 and Palm T|X that I preferred the Anti-Glare ones but for my (now returned) Nokia E90 I had a Ultra clear.
Decisions decisions.
Are there already people who tried either one of these or can make a suggestion?
The price difference is 1$ in favor of Anti-Glare one.

I decided not to wait untill I could figure out what the best would be and ordered the Brando Workshop Ultra Clear Screen Protector (2x).
I'll post my experiences here when I receive them.
For now all my experiences with the Brando stuff has been excellent.

Yes, of course but what I was after was not specific for the Kaiser but in general the differences between those 2 screen protectors from Brando.
For almost every type of device with a screen Brando produce these slap-on-plastics.
I have experience with both and apart from the cheaper one being a little thicker and less flexible, the other one seems to be better for the colours and transparency.

I'm sorry... do you mean the Ultra Clear is better? Or is the Anti-Glare one better? Also, do you have to cut these to size or what? I like taking my phones apart to put on the screen protectors, looks like they're not there.

I used the Boxwave Ultra-Clear p/n BWCTC-C8125. It fit Kaiser perfectly as well as my 8525. I prefer the glossy protectors over the flat non-glare types,

Clarification

I mean to say the Ultra Clear is the better one.
although a little bit more difficult to apply than the Anti-Glare one, it does pay of when it's on

I just ordered both the anti-glare and the crystal clear. I'll be sure to give the highlights in this thread when thy arrive.

Given the fact that I use the TyTN II for navigation, and the fact that my car has a panoramic roof, the utraclear is unusable in my case. I Need anti-glare.

Really depends, in my car I found that the non glare screens were harder to see vs the clear. If the clear screen is at a bad angle to you though, it will act like a mirror and also be hard to see. I bought both and played till I got the best viewing, for me it was clear.

How difficult was it to install? ie, With some screen protectors, I have bubbles or fingerprints and then have to clean and reapply, etc.

This time I washed my hands and worked on a lint free cloth. I peeled off the Kaiser's shipping sticker from the display and applied my screen protector by placing it on edge at one side of the screen. Then I carefully let it slowly lay down from that edge, using the applicator card to smooth it. This time, not 1 bubble!

Just received the anti-glare today. Absolutely a perfect fit (even better than the already very close to perfect fit I was accustomed to with Brando).
For me, Brando makes the best screenprotectors, period!
Also the TouchFLO motion seems unhindered ...

What model are you guys ordering for on Boxwave?
I cant find this model # BWCTC-C8125 anywhere.

I had posted that number from the package that I used on my Kaiser. Here's the link to it, it was a spare for my 8525 and it fit the Kaiser perfectly. I'm no Boxwave promoter, their accys have been so-so in my opinion. I do like their screen protectors however, but I'd give Brando a try from what I've read here.

Best XDA2 Screen Protector (available in Philippines)

Hello everybody, especially to my fellow Filipino's...
I'm trying to find the best screen protector for my XDA2. Can you tell me what brand it is? if its available in the Philippines and where I can buy it? How much is it?
Right now, i'm using a screen protector which was designed for Palm PDA's. Obviously it's not the best screen protector for the XDA. Hope somebody can help me with this query.
Thanks..
You can check out the XDA II screen protectors at Mobile One, Quad, Makati, or at X-site, Megamall A basement. I can't say which one is the best though since I don't use one on my XDA II. I put a screen protector on my old iPAQ once but I didn't like it so I removed it.
I've had a Martin Fields Overlay Plus on my XdaII for over six months and it's still in very good condition despite my six year old playing games on it - if you can get MFOP I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Hope I can find this brand..
You can also try Brando Ultraclear... I've been using this one on my XDA2, washed it several times and still in very good condition... Got mine in xSite Megamall...
Yajp - When you say 'washed it' do you mean removed it and washed it or just cleaned the top surface?
I have a Brando Ultra which is superb but I'd love it even more if I can do that
Codeus.
Yes, I removed it and washed it (w/o detergents). Make sure to dry it using a hair dryer (as instructed on the cover), co'z when I tried to dry it using an electric fan water stains were present.
Thats excellent, I can get rid of that annoying piece of dust I got stuck under it when applying the film.
Thanks.
On my old XDA(1) I managed to to put a centimeter-long scratch on the screen while simply navigating a menu. I don't know if a tiny piece of dust got caught on the end of the stylus or something but I couldn't find an explanation for how it happened.
Ever since that incident I have seen screen protectors as an essential item, the Brando being the best I've come across so far (cost me £4.99 on ebay).

How much is the going rate for the screen protector in these shops?

Do Hermes holsters fit the Kaiser?

I heard the phones were similar dimensions...
Kaiser is a little thinner and the controls are in slightly different places so most TyTn cases won't do very well with TyTn II.
If you need a good case Nutshell is IMHO the best of the best http://tuff-as-nuts.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=10

First TyTN case don't fit on the kaiser - I've tested 5 different ones.

I just wanted to offer up helpful info on an alternative since the question was answered but the OP still needed a carrying solution, one better than the included horizontal pouch.
I visited my local Fry's Electronics yesterday & found a camera case that's just the right size for the Kaiser. The price is right at $6.99, and it doesn't add much thickness, making it good for pocketability. I keep my phone in my front pants pocket, so a thin case without a thick belt loop or hook is just what I need.
I'd prefer a custom fitted Piel Frama or Krusell, but they won't be available for a month or two -- in the meantime, the camera case will do just fine.
I am using a universal case from PDair and am quite happy with it. The phone fits fairly snug when new but after a few days of use, it becomes very comfortable to use.
haha funny how everyone is with AT&T in USA
I have the SEIDIO holster for my 8525 and my TyTN II arrived today. I am happy to announce that the TyTN II fits in this holster *almost* like a glove. The TyTN II is a little thinner .. BUT because the TyTN II and the holster have a rubber coating, it doesn't move. As far as i'm concerned it's a keeper!
Im using the palm polycarbonate case for the treo 680 it fits like a glove no rattling only problem is the palm logo on the outside

[REVIEW] Nushield Screen Protector for Kaiser

My review of the screen protector from Nushield.
(Purchased 2 anti glare, 1 clear model screen protector [comes in a package of 3 only]~ 12 USD)
Install:
-Installation is pretty straightforward but requires some experimenting to get the film in.(Doesn't use a sticky film, but rather a slide in)
-Warning, Make sure that there is no dust under the screen! It is a pain to take out. Trust me i know, i accidently wasted a film by bending it to take it out.
-When you first get the product, u might think that the screen protector they sent you wasn't yours since it looked to big to be fitted in. But actually it fits perfectly once u manage to slide all sides in.
Sensitivity loss:
-On a scale of 10(10 meaning no sensitivity, and 0 meaning no screen protector) it receives a 1.
-However, I did find a HUGE improvement in the touchflo scrolling than without the screen protector.(If you own a kaiser, you should know of the smears and awkwardness of sliding ur thumb to scroll.)
Overall feel and look:
-I actually dont notice it, and it is fingerprint proof.
-Using touchflo feature, the thumb easily slides across with no smears, in other words i dont get that suction feeling.
-And dont forget this is a slide in, so you dont get those bubbles you get from using the provided screen protector you got with the kaiser. The screen protectors surface is really smooth, its like sliding a thumb across a sheet of printing paper)
PS: I have not tried the clear film yet, and dont think i have to. The antiglare film seems to be secure and feels as if it can last years...
My rating for the nushield screen protector is a 9/10.(would be 10/10 if it was easier to install, but then it wouldn't work as good )
As for purchase instructions, go to www.nushield.com and choose the HTC TYTN as for screen specs since it is the same as the kaiser. (I was foolish to try to custom make the screen protector for the kaiser only to realize that its the same size as the tytn!!*got email telling me that *) You can mix and match as i did by putting which films you would want under the comments on checkout.
Thanks for that, i was looking for a good screen protector but i didnt want those sticky ones. This is perfect and from your review, it seems to do a great job too!
Thanks, i just ordered one, but as you said, there was no 'kaiser' ones so i just ordered it for the tytn
I'll always be a fan of PocketPCTechs.com's WriteShields. And during October, you can get 20% off if you use this coupon code: PPCTRC1007
Type it into the Special Instructions field.
Just as an FYI to anyone else considering ordering the NuShield: I decided to try some based on this review, and also decided to get two anti-glare and one clear. I got the following response:
While we are always trying to be accommodating to our customers
special requests, this one has gotten out of hand. Someone must have
posted on a discussion board that we will do this. This request is
now occurring several times daily and represents a significant amount
of time and effort to put these special packages together.

Guess they don't like doing that very much.
EDIT: and fwiw, they appear to currently be out of anti-glare anyway, so I ended up ordering clear.
Martin Field's OverlayPlus
Best. Screen protector. Ever. Period.
It's non sticky, invisible, and best of all: If you mess up (e.g. bubbles, dust) while putting it on, you can just rinse it off with water, let it dry for a few minutes (or blow dry), and voila: It's clean and sticks again.
I've been using these things on my mobile phones, PDA's, Nintendo DS, etc, for as long as I can remember. Even after 5 years, you can simply take the screen protector off and your screen will look brand new.
Already have a small scratch? Put the screen protector on and it's gone

I thought the 8525 is the same as the TyTN, and the screen protectors for it won't quite fit the Tilt.
But you can confirm these will fit the Tilt?

Unless it's an unusually small screen protector for the TyTn/8525, you are correct that it will be too large for the Tilt. I had to trim about a millimeter off of each dimension of my Boxwave ClearTouch Anti-Glare for it to fit.
I really like the Boxwave protectors. I had one protector last for over two years on my Treo 650, and similar to another protector described, if you want to clean it just use hand soap and water and stick it right back on.
In fact, I found that if the protector is slightly wet, it is much easier to get the bubbles out. It took almost no effort after I trimmed it when I put it onto my Tilt's screen.
So do any of these make the screen easier to see in direct sunlight?
I just ordered 2 BRANDO superclear ones ... have had a lot of phones and have had a lot of screen protectors but i have to say brando is DEFINATELY the best.

I confirmed it in my review. BTW Dont be stupid and trim it, it fits perfectly, trimming it would cause it to be loose once its in which will become an annoyance.
I just received the overlay plus screen protector for the tytn, and it does not fit the kaiser screen. The tytn overlay is larger than the kaiser's screen. I hope martin fields accepts exchanges.

keep trying to fit it in, if you read the original review he says that it's very hard to get it in there, but once it's in...it's gonna do good.
I was able to fit it in but its not on perfectly because the overlay uses a silicone adhesive, which makes it somewhat difficult to maneuver unlike the nushield screeprotectors which you just slip in.

wait....i think this is a case of miscommunication, I thought that you couldnt insert the NuShield protectors in, so I said to keep trying because the original poster said that it took him a little bit, but now it seems like you are talking about another kind of protector.
Conclusion: I'm confused
a lot of 99 cents only stores have 10 for 1 screen protectors that are larger than the kaiser. i bought like 5 of these (50 count) and just cut them to the size of the manufacturer's protector. it takes about a minute and avoids the highway robbery of screen protector prices.

aaaah, makes sense. I already have my 6gb micro sdhc and my nushield protectors...im just waiting for my kaiser
Nushield now has a drop down menu for Tilt in ATT and TyTn II in HTC sections. I will order them since it seems like a pretty good value.
i ordered a shield from shieldzone.com
i have used them on my blackjack and digital camera, but never a PPC device so I will have to see how well it works..

What is the best thing to protect my screen?

I can't get screen protectors to stay on. I apply them per the instructions and about a week later they come off...
I have a Martin Fields screen protector and haven't had one issue. I keep my phone in my pocket most of the time too.

I swear by WriteShields myself (www.pocketpctechs.com). I've had them for my past 3 devices and they've outlasted the devices. They're very easy to put on cleanly with no air bubbles. They even have an anti-glare version that makes it much easier to see the scren outdors. I've never noticed any decrease in screen responsiveness; in fact, I prefer the firmer feel with the WriteShields.

Agree, i like these products.
I use the Crystal version, which makes the screen look naked, exactely like a brand new screen, flashy, glossy screen. Now the second version is Drumm's above, i didnt test it yet.
These protections are thick, thus kinda rigid. As a consequence no air bubbles remain when applied.
I just bought a Martin Fields, and it works really well. I was using NuSheild before that but I could never get the bubbles out, and as soon as I would get them out, and press my screen again, they would come back, very annoying.
Martin Fields however does not have that problem, and installation was a lot simpler, plus, it comes with a camera (lens) protector as well.
are the screen protectors mentioned in this thread pretty easy to apply? i usually get a clean application but there's always one or two bubbles that won't go away. another thing is getting it to lay down straight. do you guys have any techniques for applying?
I tried yet another screen protector and it came off again. I guess what I am looking for is a case that also has a cover for the screen, but not an aluminum case (too bulky).
My answer is...
A chap on ebay from Hong Kong. 3 protectors for a very small price.

I can recommend one from Brando. Very good quality. Well regarded in some countries, however not that known in the UK.
Martin Fields Screen Overlay.
Been suing these on all my devices: my original SPV, P900, SPV M2000, XDA Exec, M3100, Ameo and now my Vario III, and they are the BEST. Properly installed, bubbles smooted out, you can't tell they're there, and they are nearly impossible to damage, unless you take a knife to them. Also, if your device has multiple screens and/or cameras, they provide protectors for those too.
The protector T-Mobile provided with the Vario III is PANTS! I damaged it installing it, trying to rub an airbubble out...

WriteShield
Hi,
Someone can say me if WriteShield Screen Protector fit exactly the screen size of the Kaiser without leaving some screen surface unprotected ? Or which one fit exactly the screen's size ?
Thanks in advance

i just used the official iphone one from apple and cut it down to fit. and it works great no bubble or anything like that...and the left over is just big enough to cut a small disk out to put on my watch face. and then i can use the piece for the back when i need a replacement for the one on there.

Screen Protector List

Sorry, but I can't seem to find a nice, easy to find list of what screen protectors are good for the xperia. I don't trust a lot of them since I cannot be sure if they were designed for the xperia.

I just got my screen protectors delivered from iBestMart on eBay. They offer both a crystal clear and mirror finish. I got both but ended up using the crystal clear. The mirror version seemed to have a 'psychedelic' effect on the screen colours.
I must say that they went on clean and smoothly, and the cut/dimensions are PERFECT!
Highly recommended, and also very cheap.

nice to hear, so the dimensions will fit pretty much the whole screen I guess? Because I bought the brando 1s, while the quality is good, the dimensions was a bit short, meaning there is about a 2mm gap on the vertical side.
Might consider getting these.
