Prophet ROM Comparisons - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

So my new (to me) Prophet arrived today. Damn near mint condition. Quickly unlocked it, and popped in my sim.
G4 too. Pleasant surprise.
Next stage of course is to get the most useful ROM onto it so I can happily bimble about knowing that even at total power loss, I'll still have cool stuff on there when I plug it back in.
I'm glad to see there's a good selection of shipped ROMs available, but there's no info on the differences between them.
I'm not *****ing about this. There's a lot of phones to cover, and only so much time people can spare.
So I'm thinking, those who've installed one obviously know what's on it. Just list the ROM, and spew out the details on what it contains. Then later on someone can come through the thread, copy the info, edit it up and dump it on the wiki.
So, what's the spec of the original ROMs? The modded ones? Extensions?
Mine's currently a standard Orange ROM, as far as I'm aware. WM5, (5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0)). All default aside from undoing the simlock.
ROM version: 2.10.1.22 WWE
ROM date: 2/16/06
Radio version: 02.07.20
Protocol version: 413.1.03
ExtROM version: 2.10.1.107
Operator version: 13.10.1.107
I freely admit I don't know much in-depth here yet, but I'm eager to help fill in gaps in the knowledge base if I can. If this sort of direct sugestion is out of line, just let me know.
I think the information required on each would need to be:
OS and other version info
Bundled software
Any special features
Any tweaks (for non-standard ROMs, I should think)
Does that sound about right?
~ Sci

Good question, but I think the flashaholics on here are too busy doing wm6 roms.
I guess you are asking, is it worth trashing the shipped orange rom for the jesterz aku2.2 rom. Probably, but check out on the htc site to see if your m600 is still in warranty as you may void that if you flash with jesterz (don't think there is a way back to orange rom with a G4 - from what I've read).
Anyone else want to chip in?

don't look back
The variations of rom available seem far better then the overweight Orange version. can't seem to rid my M600 of the Orange start up screen when first booting, but thats the only time I see it....
btw....excellent idea to list available roms, but maybe a little to transient to remain relevant for very long.... additional pics would be good too...

Well, I don't really care about the warrenty. I didn't buy it new, and I've probably already invalidated anything by unlocking it.
As for the "jesterz aku2.2" ROM, I wasn't asking about it specificly. Why's it such a good one to go with?
I don't even know what benefits there might be in upgrading to a WM version 6 ROM.
But anyway, there's four basic categories it seems..

I THINK that's correct, because the original ROM list doesn't specify wether the ROMs are WM5 or 6.
The contributed ones though do seem to have good listings for the included software and tweaks though. Just need an easy way to break them down. Maybe into categories? Communications, tools, media, etc, etc..

Just got my Siemens SX56 today. HELP MEEEE

ok, i'm as n00b as they come when it comes to this. Can someone tell me what firmware, ROM, OS upgrades I need/should get. It's the AT&T version of the phone and I want to make all the neccesary upgrades before I start using it. Thank you soooooo much, John
If it is brand new you have the most current stuff. Go to www.my-siemens.com and you can download the a.20.17 update if you dont have it on your device.
If you just got it you would be CRAZY to screw with it. Especially if you haven't read EVERY SINGLE POST here pertaining to the dangers of flashing.
If you still want to noob it and screw around, invest in a card reader, make a backup of your rom, and be prepared to have a shiny silver paperweight just in case. DO NOT use any .exe upgrade packages that are not from Siemens.
yeah... i kinda wanted the new OS 2003 though
i know i was looking before i got my phone and i saw a package that was released by AT&T wireless, specifically for this model of phone, and now i can't remember where the hell i saw it.
also, the phone is locked... i thought that the rogers US and rogers at&t canada networks were identical. any advice/suggestions on that?!?
Thanks for your reply by the way
Most phones come with the SimCard locked for a particular carrier. Since you are most likely not going to switch for awhile, this is no big deal. If you do ever decide to switch to a different carrier, you can break the sim lock using a utility located on this site. I WOULD NOT do this until you are sure you want to switch carriers though. Otherwise it is a waste and potentially damaging to your unit
actually, i cannot use the phone right now. I purchased it off ebay and it is locked for the US AT&T, however, i'm in Canada using the AT&T service up here. I need to unlock it.
Should i buy the cable, upgrade the ROM? help?!

No need to panic...
Just download and run this
Then if you want to upgrade to WM2003, simply visit here and cook a self-extracting exe based on 4.00.11 (just my personal suggestion, tastes differ).
(Yup, we added 4.00.11 and 4.00.16 to the kitchen menu)
Any obvious benefits of .11 or .16 over .05 or .10?
holy ****... everyone here has been so damn helpful so far. thank you so much...
alright, so far so good... i just finished upgrading to the xda developers rom and it unlocked the phone for me
this would be the ultimate now...
i want a ROM with just the Mobile 2003 factory settings and nothing else installed. This ROM has a bunch of crap on it that I wouldn't know how to use if my life depended on it. I just want the new Mobile 2003. What is the best way to do this?
Do I just cook one up with only the 4.00.11 ENG WM2003 selected... Is there a better way... Thank you so much again, John
Just take the .16 ROM and deselect all the progs you don't want. Then you will have the latest ROM as it comes from Tmobile. Just a few cosmetic changes in the cooked rom.
is it recommended to use the t-mobile ROM despite the fact that i'm using a rogers at&t phone?
Make battery warning adjustable
Fix 'multiple resets make device slow' bug (WM2003 only)
Remove 'stk.lnk' from Startup folder (WM2003 only)
also which of these do you recommend installing?
The rom version doesnt make a difference. You will not get the "G" which lets you know you can make an internet connection with any of the roms above 4.00.05 though.
Install all of stuff you mentioned.
so last and FINAAAAAAAAAAL question...
4.00.05 ENG WM2003 (3906 kB available)
4.00.10 ENG T-Mobile US (2119 kB available)
4.00.11 ENG WM2003 (3906 kB available)
4.00.16 ENG T-Mobile US (2119 kB available)
if you were picking? and why? thank you so very much
That is personal opinion. If you want only the basic tmobile install you can go with any of them and just deselect the other programs. Keep in mind that having these programs doesn't hurt you for the don't take up any memory on your device until you run them. That is the beauty of having the in ROM not RAM. Just be careful what you play with. The idea is that the higher the number, the later the release, so the more stable it may be. Again this is just an idea.

I would personally pick 4.00.11 unless you're on US T-Mobile, or happen to need the PDF and/or Presentation Viewer.
I would suggest you to take the 4.00.11 if you are not on the T-mobile.
Btw, this 4.00.11 is tested to fit the AWS along with the A20.10 I think....

Please Recommend Update for qtek 1010

Hi guys.
Can any one help me on my decision on upgrading my Qtek 1010 to the special Edition ROM 1.2 found in this site? I just want to know if it will not destroy my Phone. Here are the details:
ROM VER: 3.14.06 ENG
ROM DATE: 10/01/02
RADIO VER: T313
PROTOCOL VER: 32S54
NETWORK LOCK : GLOBE TELECOM
Thank you. More power.
SER 1.2 is perfect for unlocking, but if your device is already unlocked why don't you go to a WM2003 ROM ?
Hi j2villar
The ROM upgrade in the kitchen will not dammage the phone part of your Qtech 1010, but it my prevent your Qtech to start if the upgrade process goes wrong.
I have 3 points to your questions as I was having this kind of principle questions 4-6 weeks ago.
1. This forum states all over the place that there are risks associated with upgrade, as with any PC's in the old days! This is especially the case with RUU update more than the PDA side of it.
My personal finding are: Mistakes come from people who did not read enough on this forum  , people who did not apply the basic principles of backing up there original RUU and ROM prior to running the upgrade  .
My recommendation is play as much as you want with your ROM, Do not touch the RUU unless you feel you really need it.
2. Although XDATOOLS allows you to make upgrade without going through the SD CARD and BOOT LOADER, I recommend you to make the investment of an extra SD card (one for the backup, one for loading the new rom) + a USB read+write device.
This is a recommendation that you will find all around the place in this forum.
Try searching with: SD CARDS or BOOTLOADER
3. Same as Biso007, why go the Special Rom Edition which is quite limited compared to the flexibility of a own made kitchen ROM. (If the difference is not all crystal clear to you, it is very surely an indicator that you have not yet build up sufficient knowledge about this general topics to clear you from any possible problem when upgrading.
The Kitchen I use to cook my ROMs is the one of LumpyStephan (which is going to be updated soon I think) try: http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Now should you want to increase your global understanding, I have personally found the web site associated to this forum it has a lot of FAQ and well described process http://wiki.xda-developers.com
THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPERT ADVICE I JUST TAKE HOLD OF THIS PDA PHONE LAST MONTH AND I HAVE READ WIKI'S SITE.
THANKS FOR SPENDING TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. MORE POWER

Himalaya/andes problems

Hello, i have a small problem, i have a SVP M1000 for personal use, and a Qtek pocket pc issued by work, now im not really sure what the Qtek is at the moment its the same looking as the m1000 but different buttons slightly and a less shiney finish to it. the main problem is, that the MOD base im contracted at had the cameras disabled on them, due to regulations, i need the camera back on it to make life a hell of alot easier is there any way of installing the camera software back onto the device? i would change the rom, but i cant loose anything on the device because it all sync's through gprs, and hasalot of pre installed software by the firm i work for. if anybody here has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated,
ps. Himalaya is working great thanks to many pages read on here, and ovcourse the roms!
PPS. details on the Qtek
Rom version: 1.72.00WWE
Rom date : 03/15/04
Radio version: 1.14.00
Protocol version: 1337.24
extROM version: 1.72.189
The camera software resides in the extended rom, maybe it is present on yours but written out of the boot sequence. Look in your extended rom and see if it is there, if not I am sure somebody could upload it. I have an M1000 but it now has O2 rom and I am not sure that would work with your phone as I have never tried it.
A word of warning, it could mean unemployment for you and a possible lengthy interview with MOD police.

thanks for your reply! if i was to put a different extended rom on, would i lose any imformation at all?? i take it this qtek is an andes :?: ive already spoken to the mod plod and they cant see any problems with it, its just the site managers a bit of a **** the problem at the time was the new euro fighter was performing testing at the base and no leaked pictures could get out, so there should be no problem with it now, if someone could upload the extrom for me to flash the qtek with that would be great, and a little more info on the precedure! if theres anything worth uploading from the qtek please let me know, i would be more than happy to upload anything.
Again thanks for the help.
can anybody help me here?
I have a blank next to my EXT ROM - -but the camera still seems to work !?
If you put in a different extended rom you will lose any proprietary cabs/programs that your employers may have installed to the extended rom in your phone. I would assume that even in the case of a hard reset your phone will install the programs that your employers wish to be available and the others will have been removed or written out of the boot sequence. Look for roms and extended roms here.

here's the camera software that usually exists in the extended ROM,just install the CAB file,and.........say cheese
RAGO

going to flash sda-music, need some advice

the sda-music, (or maybe sda only? how may i find out what device it is? its labeled "T-Mobile SDA" but seems to be the sda.music...) which is my girlfriends phone, produces many freaking errors lately.
so i decided, to not only hardreset the device, in fact i wanted to reflash the device with WM5 or 6 so there would be some nice software and feature additions.
But i read two posts, at least, that mentioned the authors device being bricked during flash-process...
now i wanted to know if the tornado is really that vulnerable.
and what is better flashing wm5 or wm6, is wm5 more stable and final than wm6?
i think the device is shipped with WM2003(se?).
is there any possibility to back up the existing rom and extrom (if there is one), to have the original rom anywhere backuped? (to reflash it, if anything isn't nice with wm5/6)
greetings
hoping for some answers.
garfield

To flash or not to Flash. Please advise.

Sorry if this is a really n00b question but I figured this would be the best place to ask it.
I live in Australia have recently purchased an HTC HD2.
It is the GSM version (non Telstra) and I am using an Optus 3G GSM SIM.
The current ROM version is 1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE The current Radio Version is 2.05.51.05_2
I want to know if it is safe to install a more up to date ROM on the phone as when I browse the australian website, the only ROM update available is for the telstra version of the phone and when I enter my serial number I am told that my phone is not supported.
I am able to use a different serial number to download a more up to date ROM from one of HTC's international sites but I am scared I will brick the phone or make it not work with my Optus SIM anymore if I install it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi
You can absolutely flash the device with any stock or cooked ROM.
If you prefer to go for a stock ROM, the latest one is WWE 1.66.405.2.
You can download ROMs here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Leo/ROMs
If you go for a cooked ROM then obviously look for the developers page and read up on the ins and outs of his/her ROM.
If this is your first flash, I would recommend having a read of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
You are also welcome to pop over the Whirlpool forum where you will find several people who have flashed their devices with new ROMs (stock and cooked).
The thread is long and there are several preceding thread; however, read the last few pages and jump on in. There are plenty of folk there happy to offer advice and support from our sunny shores.
By the way, I flashed the non-Telstra device from WWE 1.48 to 1.66 without a problem.
Perfect! Thankyou for the reply!!!
OK so I just finished reading through all the info on flashing and am feeling much more confident now.
Just one more question, what radio version did you install to go with the 1.66 ROM? or didn't you need to upgrade it, if so what version are you running?
EDIT: Depending on what image you use, it would appear that the radio ROM is flashed with the ROM? correct?
Thanks
EDIT2: I just figured out that I can download the official rom from the Hong Kong HTC site. It accepts my SN so I wont need an additional bootloader to install the rom.
The version is 1.72.831.1
The URL is http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=906
Successfully flashed 1.72.831.1 last night using the standard bootloader.
Took about 6 minutes and no issues at all. Took about 40 minutes to get everything set back up the way I had it before so not too bad.
Straight out of the box the phone seems far more responsive than it did with 1.48. Faster still with the Glyph cache tweak and VSYNC off.
Radio signal seems better and the WiFi seems to be reliable with automatically connecting to my configured netowrks as I move around.
No negative side effects as of yet!

I'm sorry I didn't get back and respond last night; however, it sounds like everything has run smoothly and been a success.
Excellent news!
I find it so satisfying flashing a new ROM. It's kind of like purging the old and starting afresh with something new that suits your needs.
Have fun!
