Today I upgrade my good old XDA2s from Windows 2003SE to WM6, and till now I'm loving it.
As I'm not rally used to the 12hr AM/PM time format, I would like to use the 24HR format, but for some reason I can not get it to work.
Anyone here who might know how to set this in WM6?
Thank you.
Try looking in Start | Settings | System tab | Regional Settings | Time tab - the first item on the page is "Time Style".
Click on the arrow and then scroll up/down until the time is displayed as "HH:mm:ss" - that's 24hour format with a leading "0" (e.g 06:25). You could select "H:mm:ss" if you don't want the leading "0" in the hour part.
Hope that helps,
Mark.
Grrrr.. Thats how I did it, but I selected HH:mm:ss tt, and this did not work :/
When I select HH:mm:ss (as you suggested), all is working fine, and I'm in 24hr mode
I guess I need some time off now.
Thank you for your help

I did that but it will not work?
are you using any additional application for toolbar ?
and in setting on the Regional settings did you choose the "h:mm:ss tt" ?
I've had the same problem with my Qtek 9100 (WM 5) since I got it but I just figured it out. In the Time tab under Regional Settings select "h:mm:ss tt" under Time Style. I had to scroll to see it which threw me because I don't remember having to scroll in my 2003 devices. If the letters are capital "H:mm:ss tt" it is the 24 hour clock which was default on my Qtek.

Im using Tweaks2k2.NET, Under System Tricks ( Collection 2 ) got tick show AM/PM in the clock.
im happy using this stuff!!!
I've had a problem almost since I bought my K-Jam where I can't change the clock from 24hr to 12hr...17:04 to 7:04pm. After the ROM upgrade, it went back to 12hr mode....I was happy. Now, for some reason, it's back to 24hr mode...no matter what changes I make within Regional Settings I can't get it to go back to 12 hour mode.
Any thoughts on this?
Tom
Often overlooked in the regional settings\time change h:mm:ss to h:mm:ss:tt (scroll up) that should do it.
If not u have a bug

I had the same problem...the critical point there is SCROLL UP...the dropdown (at least for me showed 2 items) and I didn't realize that I could SCROLL UP to see the non 24 hour settings.
I am having the same problem, but I knew about the regional settings and tried to change it several times, nothing works. It's stuck on 24 hour time.

use this reg tweak
Code:
HKLM\nls\overrides\STFmt = "hh:mm t" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Please note that the single 't' only shows P or A in the Taskbar and the Clock/other applications. If you use 'tt' it will show as 'PM' and 'AM' in the Clock/other applications, but it doesn't display at all in the Taskbar.
I prefer h:mm t or h:mm tt so you get no 0 before time
or you can try h:mm tM if you want aM displayed in the task bar and don't mind big m - my own tweak
this may do it
You guys are the best!!!!!!
I scrolled up and found what I was looking for. I'm all good now.
I didn't know that I could actually scroll. I used the lower case settings and I'm back to normal.
Thanks again!!!!
Tom
Yay, that was bugging the hell out of me as well.
I'm using a Cing 8125 with the Qtek 2.17 rom. My time format is stuck in 24hr mode. How can I get it to 12hr mode? Its driving me nuts.
goto settings, regional settings and goto the time part and change it
it looks something like hh:mm:ss, etc
but you'll have to scroll the format (it shows like it's a single line so press the arrows)
Thanks, for the life of me I couldn't figure it out.
Hello,
I have an Imate JAMin. I'm not able to change the time display format from 24hr to 12 hr. I've already changed the Regional Settings from UK to US yet everything changes (date, number format, etc.) except for the time format. Obviously all my appointments are showing in the 24hr format which I'm not used to. Please help.
Time Style
Settings>System>Regional Settings>Time>Time Style>h:mm:ss tt
The drop down menu for Time Style has several options not just the ones shown. Scroll up in the menu and find h:mm:ss tt. Thats the one you want.
Thanks
Yeap! That solved it. I didn't realized I had different options as I scrolled up and down.
Thanks!
Owned a Cingular 8525 for just about a month now. So glad I found this forum, its full of wonderful information from a superb community.
I've just upgraded to XDA Live 0.2 and I have a question, although I don't think this question is specific to that version of WM.
The clock on the Today screen shows the time on the top line - but it doesn't show the AM/PM indicator. I believe this was the same under the Cingular theme under WM5 that came with the phone. If my memory servers me correctly, I soon found a way to modify that on WM5 and had the clock showing the AM/PM indicator.
Problem is I made that change in my first week of ownership, and now that I've just upgraded to XDA Live 0.2, I've completely forgotten how I did.
There doesn't seem to be any way to modify the display format in the Settings->Today applet. Maybe it was a registry change I made???
Anyhow, if anyone knows a quick way to make this setting, even if it means installing a separate clock app which replaces the default, I would love to know.
BTW I did make a search on the Hermes forum before submitting this post, but I couldn't find anything relevant.
I am not sure, but this may be connected with the regionnal settings. Try to play with those option which are located in settings
I've got Wisbar Advance 2 on my 8525 and by setting the time format to 'h:mm tt' it displays the AM/PM. Maybe there's a reg hack that can do the same with the standard toolbar clock?
Try:
Settings/System/Regional settings/Time/Time Style
and then choose the H:mm:ss option on the drop down menu.
Hope this works for you
The answer to this question already exists in previous posts.
The answer to this question already exists in the wiki.
If the above post by marissa does not work (remember you can scroll up as well as down in this option) then change the registry:
Go to:
HKLM\nls\overrides
and tap on key STFmt
Some valid entries for this key include
h:mm t ........(12hr, A/P)
h:mm tt .......(12hr with AM/PM)
H:mm:ss ......(24hr)
h:mm:ss tt ...(12hr, seconds, AM/PM)
hh:mm:ss tt .(12hr, seconds AM/PM, leading 0)
Once you have done this and saved it, LONG press the on off button and wait for the warning pop up saying device will shut down and unsaved data will be lost. Tap yes and then long press on/off button to restart. Do not use soft reset or else you may find the changes you just made will be lost and you'll have to repeat the process.
You may find phone is in flight mode on restart but just turn it off.

Re: How to get Today clock showing AM/PM ?
Thanks Marisa & Mike. I forgot to mention that I had taken a look at the Regional Settings applet too, and already set that up to show the h:mm:ss tt format.
Still didn't work on displaying the clock. So I then used Mike's tip about the registry. On looking at that key I saw it was already set to h:mm:ss tt. I modified it anyway, saved, and did long shutdown, long startup.
On reboot, I don't see the clock displayed with the AM/PM indicator. Oh well, thanks anyway. I'll go and post this over in the XDA Live 0.2 thread - maybe it is something to do with this ROM after all.
Thanks again.
Sorry, thought it was just the am/pm that you were trying to show. Getting the clock to show in the first place is different. Will post later, unless someone beats me to it!
At work at present.
Mike
Try some of these:
Change the display of the clock in the taskbar
The clock in the taskbar can be changed to show not only the time, but also the date, or just the date, or nothing at all.
To show nothing:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 0 (DWORD decimal)To show just the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 1 (DWORD decimal)To show just the date:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 2 (DWORD decimal)To show both the date and the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 3 (DWORD decimal)Note 1: If you switch to the Analog clock display, the date will remain visible -through- the Analog clock
Note 2: Setting the clock to show 'nothing' will still keep the reserved space, showing the taskbar background, and obscure any icons that will shift to the right.
Note 3: Your date may get obscured by the space reserved for the OK/Close button in the top-right. You can fix this my adding spaces at the end of your 'Short Date Format'. See also the tweak on 'Change the Short Date Format'
The wiki has lots of this type of setting see here:
