Like many Trinity users I had been experiencing problems with my mini SD card since upgrading from a previous HTC model. The main issue was that Windows would simply fail to detect that the card was inserted into the phone and I would have to soft reset or remove the card and re-insert. I tried several methods to correct the problem, including the HTC update that was released, but nothing worked. However, I believe I have stumbled accross a cure that you may be interested in.
Basically, I have assigned a MP3 that is stored on the SD card as the ring-tone. I did this approximately 2 months ago and have not had a problem with the SD card since. I am not sure why this works, but I would guess that Windows checks for the presence of the ringtone periodically and this prevents the issues I was experiencing.
Not sure if this will work for everyone but you may want to give it a go.
I did somthing like that a couple day's ago but i changed the registerkey (Change the location of Ringtone file storage
WM5 will look for Ringtones in \Windows\ or \Windows\Rings by default. You can change this location to, for example, your Storage Card (example given is for ringtones placed on the Storage Card root folder)
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory = "\Storage Card\" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To return to the original location:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory = "\Windows\Rings\" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Note the default location may be "\Windows\" or "\Windows\Rings\" depending on your Device provider.) dont no if that will do the same trick ?
I got a different issue with my SD card.
On my PT Rom, it was correctly named "Cartão de Memória".. Not sure why, after a soft reset, it lost that name, and changed to "Volume Montado". After trying some tweaks I found to change cards name, the only thing I got was it changing to English "Mounted Volume".
Anyone with this problem, or a hint on how to solve it?

Is it me, or can this forum be a bit hard to search? (using "" or AND doesn't work??) I KNOW I've seen more than one topic on this but I cant find it for the life of me and I'm not getting refined results.
Just encountered that problem where the Wizard suddenly makes a new Storage Card folder and renames the original one "Storage Card2". The new folder has 2 folders to hold mail attachments and a folder for PIE History.
I can see and use all for the files on the Storage Card2 (all of my movies and music and what not) but the associated programs are now looking for them in the new Storage Card folder.
How can I revert this? I can't delete the new and rename the original with the device docked. Getting sharing violation errors..
Anyone have this problem?
Thanks in advance!
Ok so I fixed it....
I took out my SD card.
From File Explorer on the device, I was able to rename the "Storage Card" that was on the Device to "Old". If you now try to delete it, you'll still get a cannot delete Index error.
I did a soft reset and was then able to delete the "Old" folder. I got "system fil" warnings, but it allowed me to delete the whole folder.
I then inserted my SD card, which immediately showed up as "Storage Card", the way it's supposed to.
My programs are now looking for their files on "Storage Card" and finding them there.
If anyone knows why this happens, feel free to pitch in....
I found that this occurred with me if I did any hacks to put internet explorer temp files, Omega One's Journal Bar files or email attachments to the storage card. I expect is was one of the first two that does it on start up and it was rather upsetting at first until you firgure out what to do about it. I've since unapplied those hacks and it hasn't happened again.

Hi all.
Can someone help me out...
I've tried to do this hack refered on the Tynt Wiki:
PocketIE Cache in storage card
Create these folders:
\Storage Card\Pocket IE\Temporary Internet Files
\Storage Card\Pocket IE\Cookies
\Storage Card\Pocket IE\History
Add the following registry keys, string data type:
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"Cache"="\Storage Card\Pocket IE\Temporary Internet Files"
"Cookies"="\Storage Card\Pocket IE\Cookies"
"History"="\Storage Card\Pocket IE\History"
But i don't see any results. I've made the hack in reg, soft reset, but nothing.
Can someone help me out? Is there another way to do it?
Thx
I'm having the same problem.
With my Wizard changing the registry works, i.e. the storage card can be used for the cache files, but not so with the Trinity; so I would also like to know if anybody has figured out a solution for this?
try to hold the power bottom and turn off.

But if I turn off the phone, then I can't use the Internet Explorer
Well seriously, it's not a matter of the registry update not being flushed; it simply doesn't work.
Try sktools and change history/cookies/cache folders. I've got them in storage card.
I tried sktools today, but when I ran it, in the settings for Cache, Cookies and History it showed me the settings that I had already created myself in the registry, so no luck here.
@sAnTeE, a question if you don't mind:
Did you ever verify for sure that the directories on your storage card are really being used as the actual storage for the files that are cached?
What I see is that if I delete the directories from the storage card, then they are created again the next time I start IE. So there is no doubt that IE is picking up the reg. settings that I made.
BUT when I look in the directories, they are empty, except for the Cache one, where there is a dir. named Content.IE5, which again contains 4 dirs with seemingly random names like 'A7QZKP01' etc.
These subdirs are where the cached files should be stored, but they are all empty!
Another thing I noticed just recently when I was fiddling with this, is that the actual dirs that are used for caching are in \Windows.
There are 3 dirs in \Windows: 'Temporary Internet Files', 'History' and 'Cookies', and these are the ones that are actually being used, not the ones that are in \Windows\Profiles\guest, which are the normal defaults.
Think I might have found the answer, or at least an answer for my own issues with this.
I have been using a FAT32 formatted 4GB card from Moby Memory, but just for the experiment I put in a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II card, deleted 'Temporary Internet Files', 'History' and 'Cookies' from \Windows, started IE and voila, the directories on the card was used for caching.
Put back the 4GB card, started IE and now the dirs in \Windows were created again and used for caching.
So apparently IE won't or can't use the 4GB card for caching.
Recently, I had installed Tweaks2K2 and after doing some changes regarding date and time display in Today title bar, I uninstalled it. The main reason behind uninstallation being after every change the device had to be reset (which is quiet obvious as it involved a change in registry settings). However, now, whenever my device is restarted, either through a soft-reset or by simply powering it OFF and switching it ON, I have observed that a new folder called "Storage Card" is created containing a sub-directory called "Inbox". And when the SD Card is inserted, the device recognizes the card as "Storgae Card2". Since most of my apps are installed in Storage Card, they don't work as their links point to their respective installed folders in \Storage Card\ which in this case becomes a dummy.
The only workaround I have found so far is that, after every re-start, I remove the SD Card, delete the folder "Storage Card" from File Explorer and then insert my SD Card again. The SD Card is then displayed as "Storgae Card" in File Explorer and then everything works fine and as expected. I want to know the reason behind this issue and how to rectify it. Any help would be highly appreciated.
I have configured the Sprite Backup to store the backup files created on Storage Card. I fear that with this situation, Sprite may not be able to create a backup file and thus will hamper the functionality of the software (though I can re-configure the options for Sprite to store the backup file in device memory and later move it to the storage card after doing the above work around)
My device details are as below -
ROM : 1.7.455.2 WWE
Radio : 02.79.90
Protocol : 4.1.13.34
ExtROM : 1.7.455.102

Is it because there are files already there that need to be overwritten?

Moreover,
there should be a folder named " sd1 " already exist right? And it will come back again even you had deleted it after softreset.... right?
if the answer is yes, you need to do some reg. tweak before you can do anything......
remove your storage card,
1. use reg software (for me I feel more safe for editing the registry) like SKTools...,
2. remove all tweaks that pointed to the storage card, e.g. Internet temp. files, messages...,
3. softreset,
4. delete the sd1 folder,
5. softreset,
6. power off,
7. insert THE sdcard (Prophet will POWER on automatically, and you will find your sd card with the name it should be ~~~

Hello everyone,
I'm using French Sunrise rom from Miammiam, posted also on this forum.
And since the last version 2.1 my storage card is always renamed storage card 2 after a soft reset.
I never had this problem with my previous rom Sunrise 1.4, didn't have this problem, but I already encounter this issue on some other rom like Leo rom's, and miri's.
I already tried everything I found on this forum or using google.
As informations I didn't change IE cache path, I'm just storing my emails on the storage card.
I hope some one can help me.
Best regards,

Nonolk.
I think that you have a hiden folder called "Storage card" on the root of your device.
rename this folder o delete it then every thing will be right.
Hello,
Thank's for your answer but Event if I delete the newly created folder then soft reset the phone, it change nothing my storage card is again named "Storage card 2".
There is no hidden folder, on the root of my phone I checked it with total commander.
On the other hand after deleting the newly created foler called "storage card" then ejecting my sd card and inserting back the card is again called " Sorage card" but after a soft reset it's again called "storage card 2".
In anyway thank you for your reply.

Try using Resco File Explorer and define there that you want to see hidden (system) files. You may locate an original directory with that name.
I had this problem twice. I my case this problem was probably due to starting up TomTom when connected by USB with my computer.
hey if it aint broke dont fix it...
