G4 CID unlock question - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Sorry If this has been covered before I have searched but a million differnt threads each saying different things.
I understand to get custom roms onto the wizzard you need to be CID unlocked.
I have a tmobile mda vario/wizzard G4 (from what ive read its a G4 if your ipl/spl ends .0001)
Ive sucsessfully unlocked the simlock using lokiwiz and am looking at CID unlocking. From reading the forum it sounds like only imei check.co.uk can do the unlock however when i looked at the website i couldnt see any mention of the cid unlock. just want to check as i dont want to spend £20 to sim unlock a phone thats already unlocked.
assuming all is well and they do do the g4 cid unlock as part of the process, the fact that im already sim unlocked using lokiwiz shouldnt present any problems should it?
Thanks

Yes imei-check.co.uk CID unlock your device as well. You can also use shelltool to update the OS on your CID locked G4 device, this is a free alternative. Before paying imei check you might want to confirm that your device is CID locked.

how can i confirm its locked?
thanks

Check if your device is CID locked here.

Use SoftSPL or HardSPL to unlock.
I used HardSPL and can flash with huge amount of roms now..

Ive tried myself and searched EVERYWHERE and have not been able to find a SIM Unlock for my G4
use lokiwiz
I successfully unlocked my boyfriend's wizard G4 using lokiwiz 3.0 check it out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=265928&highlight=lokiwiz.
Seems My Phone Is Already Unlocked???
Ok.. So I talked to Unicel today and apparantly my Wizard was sent to me already CID and SIM unlocked... What is the easiest way to test it out to see if it it CID and SIM unlocked??
It is sure that you can SIM unlock the G4 freely by using the software the guy gave above.
I am using a G4 and it is sim-unlocked.
To test it whether it is sim unlocked or not, just put in another sim card rather than 3G simcard. If it is working, then unlocked, otherwise, sim locked.
At the moment there is no free way to do the CID unlocked thing for G4. To pay to unlocked your G4, check the wizzard wiki.
To check whether your G4 is CID unlocked or not, use the Mtty. I am also looking for it.
Last but not least, people here are working for G4 CID unlocking. Hopefully, we will get free unlock software in the near future. Again, i am also waiting for it.

CID Unlock Necessary for Flashing

I've read the Wiki, honest, it possible I've just missed this one little tidbit. I am getting a T-Mo Wing today. It has to be CID unlocked to be able to flash other roms, correct? To do that I have to go through one of the unlocking services online, correct? Thanks for answering my n00b question.
From my understanding, it is necessary to CID unlock the Wing for some of the ROMs.
I flashed this ROM with no problems on my Wing :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329456
But I've heard before that the device must be CID unlocked in order for one to install 3rd party Roms on it... but I'm not all entirely sure, since I don't have that much experience since I've only had my Wing for about a month.
I flashed three roms without unlocking. However I called T mo yesterday and requested that my phone be CID unlocked. They asked me a couple of questions and told me HTC would send me the info to unlock my phone. Said it would take 24 to 48 hours!

CID unlock or SIM unlock?
SIM unlock - ability to use it on different networks (ATT, VERIZON....)
CID unlock - ability to install non T-mobile ROMs on it.
Typically, SIM unlocking takes 2 days, and all you have to do is give them the IMEI number and then they email you some code within 2 days.
they'll SIM unlock with no questions asked ... but CID unlocking would technically void your warranty...
Are you sure they are CID unlocking your phone? not SIM unlocking?
Yeah your right, its a sim unlock. I dont think I want to CID unlock at this point...it voids the warranty. There are plenty of Roms you can flash without CID unlocking.
no need CID unlock , nor SIM unlock for Wing.
it is not MDA!

CID unlock Confusion

Is calling or emailing in ATT to get a unlock code the same as CID unlocking? or would I need to hack my 8525 to CID unlock it so I can add Different ROMS???
When you instal HardSPL your device is CID unlocked. It means that you can flash any Rom to your device. However, it is still SIM locked. Fot that you need to go to the Hermes Upgrading Forum.

if all you want to do is add new roms, use HardSpl v7, its a sticky at the top of the hermes mobile 6 or hermes upgrading sub-forums.
it fools the program into thinking your super cid without actually being super cid.
anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.
I think this answerers my question and worry about just running my phone as is and upgrading later if I want.
I keep reading later 8525's are impossible to sim unlock once they have been turned on once, so I was leery of even running the phone as is... but now since I know I DON'T have to sim unlock it to flash roms then I'm not going to worry about the unchangeable radio rom.

Are all Polaris CID-locked?

Seeing how Bepe's WM6.1 ROM requires HardSPL, does this mean all Polaris are CID locked?
Are there any issues when upgrading (like IPL/SPL problems on G3 vs G4 Wizards) that I should be aware of?
Thinking about getting a Polaris but just want to see what I'm getting myself into first. I personally have a G3 Wizard so I never really had to worry as much about bricking my phone.
If not all Polaris are CID locked, is there a way to tell if it is on the spot?
Also have some general questions on purchasing in the General Polaris forum here (600 for a LNIB Polaris Too good to be true?)
Polaris is not CID locked, basically.
If you buy a Polaris marked by a carrier (like O2 or Telecom) that should be CID locked, but where's the problem again? We have CID unlocker!

This is not true... Polaris is not SIM locked, basically.
But... all devices are CID-locked, until you use hard-SPL of course!

A few of us fortunate ones were able to get a pre-release Polaris which were not CID locked, but this was very limited quantities shipped to distributors for initial evaluations. The way to tell on the spot, as per your original questin is to invoke bootloader and read the SPL. Mine came with a MFG SPL, not a fixed version. It is highly unlikely that any unit bought from general retail woul be such a device, but that is how you would check it.
Excuse me mates, but he is asking about CID locked, not SIM locked.
CID = Carrier ID that means that if the phone is CID locked it is linked to a Carrier (ie Vodafone, Orange, etc etc) and you can use only that carrier's SIM
I bought my Polaris from Mediamarkt (they have tons of) and is NOT linked to any carrier (i can put whatever SIM form whatever carrier in it) so is CID unlocked.
We r saying the same things mates. I call CID what u call SIM.
Farewell

So basically, what's the difference between CID-Unlocker and Sim-Unlocker, because we have thoses 2 here?
Ther eis no difference, they r the same.
Really do we have a CID and a SIM unlocker?
I bet we have only 1
This is all utter bull****!
CID lock is completely different to a SIM lock. All devices coming from HTC are CID locked to prevent you from loading a non-genuine ROM onto the device. SIM lock has nothing to do with CID lock bud. My orbit 2 is CID but not SIM locked, it's not connected. But there are Polaris out there (no orbits/dopods but Touch Cruises) which are sold branded and SIM locked and of course, CID locked.
SIM is NOT the same as CID. It never was and will never be.

There are devices which dont feature a SIM lock, they work with all SIMs out there on all networks. But they all are CID locked. Those devices can be unlocked to eat custom ROMs using the HardSPL. The HardSPL skips the check the original loader does when you try to load a ROM onto the device.
But there are devices which are supposed to be locked to the carrier you bought it from. Very much like the American iPhone: it's (well, it should be ) tied to AT&T and doesnt eat custom SIM cards. For that case Olipro created the second unlocker available, is a combined solution. Its the HardSPL (letting you flash a custom ROM) with a SIM-unlocker (which will let you use any SIM) strapped on top. Since I have a CID locked only device, I didnt look into the unlocker that deeply, but I don't even know if it features the function to leave the SPL alone and only SIM-unlock your device... But, to be brutally honest, who around xda-dev is interested in that

I was a minute ahead to post the link to the explanations in the WIKI for wonderjuy (sorry, don't take it personal)
Oh no, my post wasnt meant in any offending way. But I'm quite sorry, its kind of hard to nicely explain it after so many very determined wrong statements of wonderjuy. But yeah, don't take it personal and the correct information can be found in the WIKI.
Seems that I used wrong words - so please:
Accept my apologize if I offended somebody!

You're the best we ever had here. You even start opening new threads with "old questions" even before you have the device...
Search for "sim unlock" in this thread. Read the stickys in this section and in ROM development...
Thanks for reply.
I searched but I only could find 1 paid service for it.
Can I install any other radio and ROMs to locked Pure? If yes is it enough for unlocking?
Thanks again.

Yes You CAN
Hello, you can't change the ROM until you do a HardSPL (only can change it to another at&t original one), and also you can't change any radio rom until you CID unlock your pure, and you can't use a different SIM until you SIM unlock your pure.
You can search and find unlockers, but with the risk of damage your phone,
I have a Pure, I did the HardSPL, the SIM and CID unlocking with the Olipro's software, then I downloaded a Diamond 2 ROM, installed the latest radio ROM and everithing OK
I'm using it with COMCEL(Colombia) other service provider
Please do not risk your phone, use the Olipro's Unlocker:
