Enabling repeat sound in notification - P3600 General

Hi I just upgrade to wm6 but I found out that my dopod810 under the notification the box to enable repeat sound has been disabled.I was wondering whether I could enable repeat sound for sms and missed call?I hope you guys got the solution. Thanks in advance.

SPB Phone Suite has this option, for messages and missed calls.

There's also a small (It's not free, but at €7.95 is very cheap!) program called "alarmPal" - find it at the PocketMax website.
Cheers,
Mark.

Thanks, man... It only takes 35.9 kB of RAM. No more SPB...

alarmPal rocks!

I second the recommendation for alarmPal. It's a great little utility. A little tip: you will hear the original notification sound set in WM5 and straight after, alarmPal plays its sound. What alarmPal does is set up a silent 'sound' for the normal notification so you don't hear it, only the alarmPal sounds. I found this out when I emailed them asking how to stop hearing both. Seems I went in after installing alarmPal and changed the sound from the silent one to some other one.

MortScript for Notification Repeat WM6
Hi guys,
I just saved a few euros !!
Here is my version of a MortScript to enable notification for devices running WM6.1 Professional.
This script can be modified to work on WM6 Standard devices also. To run on WM Standard script should be modified to read proper registry path for events. Before running this script please install MortScript(Takes ~85kb of memory).
The script checks for any missed calls or new SMSes every 3 minutes and vibrates in case there is such event. This notification(vibration) repeats 5 times and then stops. However vibration will stop immediately in case user reads the SMS or checks the missed call. Also anytime a call is missed or message is received the repeat counter is reset to 0 and notification will repeat again 5 times for the new event.
The script can be modified using any text editor for different vibration patterns, also to play a sound. (Please refer mortscript manual for commands to play a .wav file)
Also the monitoring interval and repeat count can be adjusted. Also other events(voicemail, MMS etc.) can be monitored.
Note: MortScripts can be dangerous, malicious scripts can wipe out data from your device. Always check the script before running on the device.
General Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damages to your device by using this script.
It is my first posting on xda-developer. Please let me know if you find this script useful. please rename the attachment to <name>.mscr.

hi biswaranjan,
your scripts works fine! the time aint three minutes tho but that's adaptable. Maybe i'll make some other changes later if i have the time for it...
great "app"!!!

Is there a call minute monitor program available for xda2?

Hi
Is there a call minute monitor program available for xda2?
I mean a program that you can reset after each month and check how many minutes you are using.
THANKS[/b]
http://www.hudsonmobile.com/
I've bought this software, but I'm a little unsure whether it works ok or not.
The today plug shows, amongst other things, minutes used that day. I noticed that after I received a call lasting around 5 - 6 mins, my daily total had increased by that figure. Surely if it was an incoming call then it should not have counted those 5 - 6. If I had initiated the call myself then I would understand.
Any thoughts / contradictions?
Cheers

Thanks for the link!

This is my own today plugin (DKToday).
I wrote it because I havent found software with all function I need.
It show you:
- operator name
- signal strength
- today call time ( outgoing only )
- monthly call time
- missing call list
Finally you can call back directly from this today
This software is absolutely free of charge.
Regards and have a fun

In the US on TMo you can type in '#646#' and press TALK, you will get a notification that pops up on your screen in about 2 seconds that tells you how many minutes you have used. I was just in Singapore on singtel and it worked there, give it a try and see if it works for you.
Here is a link to the DKToday Plugin. A very nice piece of work for those looking for this type of tool.

Check the config options - two things are confusing - 1. by default it includes incoming calls which is weird and 2 - it 'rounds' up minutes by default too (so 30secs appears as a full minute). Other than that it's great
I have tried the dashboard before and it's just screwed up.
(funnysnake today phone) worked for me nicely. though i would love to try the one created by TD
Have used dkot's tool and it is pretty handy, thanks.
There are some nice programs to track cell phone usage... however it is surprising that they all completely ignore another important part of cellular usage that affects the bill... SMS...
I havent seen any program that also counts how many SMSs you have sent/received. This is also a major factor because sending/receiving SMSs are not free.
Is there any program that does this as well? or maybe the existing programs ought to include this functionality in them.
I don't know of any software that does this but one way around it would be to save sent messages in your sent folder. All sms folders show the no of messages in there.
You can then empty this each month...
Probably not what you are looking for but it might do till someone writes some software for it.
Hi,
I also installed dkot´s today plugin. Works very nice. Thanks for the work !
Only one minor problem: My month starts on every 22nd (elements -> options). But it seems that the "monthly minute counter" resets to the 1st after each softreset. The 22nd is still shown in the options but on the today screen I see all minutes for the month.
I then go to the options and type in 22 again. After returning to the today screen I get the correct minutes.

Phone Dashboard Minute Tracker
I am using "Phone Dashboard Minute Tracker" (find it on Pocketgear)
It is complete, no problems.
@Tekflow,
Phone Dashboard Minute Tracker seems to be a nice program, but it´s commercial ($14,99).
I like the little Freeware App

hi dkot,
thanx for the plugin. nice work, however i found following:
When i click operator name, it will power off my XDA2.
Phone icon is too big.
When i set count 30 seconds, today screen is refreshed in 30 seconds interval. so if i run another program and then close it, i see garbage onscreen till next interval.
thanx

Excellent !
A very nice, useful piece of software that actually works and does what it says in the tin.
As others have said the only other 'feature' would be an options tab that allows users to set the date their month starts, and maybe reset the call timers.
But as it is, it's fine, and it's one of my must have today plugins !!
Cheers

Marcus: I've already found and corrected problem you wrote about. Now monthly counter works correctly.
Buzz_lightyear:
It was my intention to turn off screen (it is not power off feature) by pressing operator name. I use it to turn off screen when I listen music. I forgot to say about it.
Screen is refreshed every 5 seconds. I know that the best way would be to refresh call counters after every call, but RIL doesn't send any message when call has been finished ( I tried it )
Icon size - I know that, but I'm not an artist and I couldn't find any other icon. If you have better (smaller) icon set, please send them to me and I will change them.
I'm really happy that all of you want to have dktoday on yours mdas. I will try to correct all errors you found and I hope I will show you next version before end of this year.
Thanx

hey Darek,
i like it very much... I wanted to ask, if it's a bug or feature, but it looked to me as a feature as well... that screen off...
Is it open source? I mean could you provide me with the source? I would like to change some stuff. Mainly face lifting...

Frankly say, I'm not ready for sharing source code with someone else yet. I have to make a lot of change in this software before. It is still in experimental state. Maybe in near future.
Here is my Christmas gift for all of you (see attachment). This is new dll with my today. To install it uncheck my today and simple copy it to windows folder. That is version 1.6. I corrected Marcus's problem, changed options dialog view and moved 'ok' button.
I cannot prepare full cab file because I do it from my pda.
Merry Christmas for all of you from Poland.

I cannot add attachment using pda!!! How can I do it?

Any success w/ apReminder+ on Wizard?

Is anyone having success with apReminder+ on their Wizard?
I cannot seem to get it to react to notifications, etc. It "runs" and appears to be operating and a .lnk is in the \windows\startup but thats all I get.
Any help/suggestions would be great.
I have tried the pocketmax pa alarm but it is to much for me and seems to slow my dev.

ps. I think i've arrived at the promised-land when on this site!
Well, I happened to be the author of this utility.
apReminder+ kind of works on WM5, except one feature - Auto Snooze. That's because the Reminder pop-up in WM5 is implemented completely different way compared to previous versions.
But the repeat functionality should work fine - I'm using it on my JAMin.
Hi Alpax,
apReminder+ is exactly what I have been looking for, but alas I can't get it to work on my WM5 Hermes
Followed your instruction exactly but don't get any reminders.
Any ideas or suggestions... or if you know of an app like yours (simple and small) that will work, would love to hear.
Seems like an indispensable utility to me and I'm surprised there aren't lots avaliable.

The utility does not implement the reminders themselves - it just repeats alarm sounds when finds the system reminder pop-up on the screen. Do you see the pop-up with "Reminder" text in its caption, when the alarm goes off?
If it doesn't work, it's difficult to track down the cause as there is no visual indication if apReminder+ is running and handling reminders.
First of all you have to make sure your system reminder dialog is enabled, then set system sound volume to maximum (just to be sure it's not muted and loud enough), run apReminderPlus.exe, check Play sound option (press [ > ] to test it), set number of repeats to 5, for example, and repeat interval - every 30 seconds. Tap Run, create a reminder in Calendar or an alarm in Clock&Alarms, wait for the Reminder dialog to come up and do not dismiss it for some time - hear for reminder sounds.
I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work - it worked every time I tried on any PocketPC including WM5 devices.
Thanks for the quick response.
I think I see my problem... I thought it would work for Notifications also. I first saw apReminder mentioned in a thread for reminders when calls or messages were missed, which is what I need most - not so much for appointment reminders.
Sorry.
Great little app but if it could do the above it would be awesome!

No, it works for regular PIM reminders and alarms, doesn't handle phone notifications, sorry. Those are completely different things, which have to be handled some other way.

Device Lock on wake up

Hi there,
I am using SPB pocket plus and mobile shell. I love the device Lock they feature but the program only allows you to activate it manually. I would like to have the device lock (not interested in downloading any new programs, had S2U2 and it was ...alright...) activate when I press the power key to waken. I thought I read somewhere that one can use memmaid (which I have) to do this, however I am having difficulty finding good instructions for this. If not memmaid is there another approach? thank you for your time....
-MA
p.s. I am running WM6 on an Alltel 6800
anyone help?
I accidentally enabled this on my Kaiser by
1) flashing a rom with S2Unlock cooked in...
2) then installing the cab file on top of this...
3) and finally uninstalling S2Unlock.
this somehow removed the program itself, but enabled the Windows device lock to automatically come on by itself everytime I turn my device back on. So it would seem that it at least "can" be done, although be it very indirectly.

hmm... interesting... yeah not the way I want to go but glad it can be done. I read somewhere that one can activate it as a start up program using memmaid... I just don't know where the program is located to have it start it up... You would think there would be a registry change that could do it as well...
easy
there are many programs to do that.. basicly program either waits for wm_suspend message and then queues vk_f22 or program sits in notification queue waiting for event vm_resuming and then invokes vk_f22, see ie

Is there a mortscript that will...

Hey I'm looking for a mortscript that will check the status of the reg keys for new sms and new voicemail every 5 minutes or so and if the count is greater than 0 it will play my notification again (or any wave if that's easier) I had a search and could only find the treo alerts but that's more than I'm looking for.
i think than can be done....i will look into it tonight...if someone does not beat me to it...lol
Hey sorry it took me so long to get to this but i have been very busy and i wanted to make it just right. so here it is.
This script Checks for new sms and vmail every 5 min and plays any wav file you have specified.
First have mortscript installed then
simply extract the folder in this zip file to anywhere on your device. then run setnofitications.mscr and enter the full path(EX:"\examplefoler\examplewavefile.wav"(don't enter quotes)) to a wave file you would like played for vmail and sms. it will create a new folder in your programs menu called extra notify and place shortcuts to turn this feature on and off to configure it and to remove the shortcuts. it will also place a shortcut in your windows startup folder so to activate itslef at every boot. Hopefully this works as well on your phone as it does on my phoe(different phones like to act different)
UPDATE:For anyone who already has v0.5b run remove to clear the old shortcuts(i changed the names of them so it wont all work right if you don't do this before extracting the new files) then simply exract these files to the same place you have the current ones. then run upgrade.mscr to migrate your old notifications to the reg entries and run setnotifications.mscr to configure the on and off times. I'm leaving v0.5b up for now in case v0.8 causes issues. Report back on functionality. Anyone using this for first time follow steps in this post befor update.
let me know if you have any problems
Version History
V0.8
changed the way variables(configurations) are kept
added option to specify time to have notifications tunr off and back on
Cleaned up scripts to make them esier to work with
(i think that's it lol)
v0.5b
removed message when device boots up
V0.5
Notifications will now play even if device is in sleep mode.
V0.1
Initial Realease
Awesome! Thanks so much.
Not to be a pain but I should have mentioned that it would be great if it didn't run between certain times. That way it won't be keeping me up all night.
You can just use kaisernotification its a program that lets you customize the LEDs and also this feature is under "repeating alerts"

Grondinm I promise you'll reach Nirvana if you manage to do this script!
I always wanted to do that also (lazy i guess), but now eventually I included it in my startup script.
Beside the missed calls or sms the script keeps bluetooth off unless needed (by GPS or handsfree).
Well done folks, now that's turning out to an interesting thread!
Until today I did just a few stupid scripts to perform soft-reset or setVolume, but with your scripts for reference I'll try to learn a bit more.
Just a question: where is the delay time instruction? I see a few "sleep" and don't know which is the right one.
Keep up the good work, MortScripters!

the last one. sleep(30000)has it sleep for 5 min before it checks again. the other sleeps are just to have it sleep for a fraction if theire is nothing to do....it would work without those...theire is also one for it to sleep 1sec between the check of sms and vmail so that both sounds don't play at the same time. Funny i started out the same way. making little scripts for text messaging purposes and volume and orientation.
Ha... I think any scripter started off like that. My first one went abd changed all of my reg settings, and copied clock and wallpaper, for s2u2. Saves plenty of time when updating

I think it should be "\windows\blah.wav"
EDIT: Grondimn got there first! Ignore this post!
OK, here is the script I made, quite the same as previous examples posted before by very good people.
I just added MMS notification and tweaked delay (90 seconds for me).
Just a question: what do you think is the overhead of the device with this script running?
I mean: here we have a WHILE loop running continuously on the device. Are there "best practices" that a skilled programmer would use to make CPU and memory consumption as low as possible?

Well i don't think memory is a big concern in this case cause the script file in only a few hundred KB and for cpu usage it is sleeping between the loops. i'm no programmer and i'm sure a experienced programer might find some flaws in this but it works for me and does not seem to be very draining.

Missed call or SMS alerts

Is there anyway that the Blackstone can play a sound when there is a missed call or missed SMS and repeat it say for example every 3 mins?
don't think there is a built-in feature for this but get spb phone suite. that has it.

That link will let you do what you want, and more importantly, its a freeware!!
Enjoy!
Thanks for the link.
Sounds interesting.

Thanks to you both, I find that the spb phone suite gives me a broader control, but it is nice to have the cab file too.
Seems overkill to install SBP phone suite just for the notifications...
Can anyone pls confirm:
1. Is the cab file uninstallable?
2. How often does the notification repeat?
3. Does it actually work? There are comments on the above download page that says it keeps repeating even after the text is read...
The nice cab file posted above did gave me the optie to repeat a signal.
I have not really tested it yet so far
I tried the SPB phone suite and it worked good for me. I had no issues. The intervals were 1min 5 mins .... I forgot the rest.

Has anyone tried it yet? In that link, several people posted that it keeps repeating the alert even after you have read the missed message.
Also another program option would be PhoneAlarm (lite or Pro).
Also - on a similar note, I tested some of these setting combinations. You can see the results here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459297
I am using missedcallreminder v1.2 and it works a treat......
Search for it on this site......
I just tried the .cab from post number 3.
It worked fine with the first test message I sent myself, but by the second test message, it DID repeat itself even after I had read the message. I deleted the message for it to stop reminding me and all of a sudden some five minutes later it started reminding me again!!! So, I went ahead and took the check marks off that setting. It's been five minutes and no sound yet.
That is unfortunate. That's a feature that should be considered "essential". I don't know why WindowsMobile or HTC didn't include a good working version of it with the option to remind with sound and/or vibration. We shouldn't have to turn to third-party apps for something like this.
EDIT: BTW, I think this is the program the previous poster was referring to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405071
Read the whole thread before you install it. Some people say it uses up too much RAM. I have not tried it, so I can't say anything about it.
Thank you for the applicaion, i used to do it troguh registery but its nicer to have a program doing it for ya
