Hi,
I have a problem with my HTC P4350, if i receive a call i cant hear the ringtone, he's vibrating non-stopp..
It was so in WM5 also in WM6
the installed programs is TOMTOM and Chi-Tai Dang Batterystatus TD-Plugin.
Can annybody help me with my problem ?
could have something to do with your calendar appointments. i cant remember where the setting is, but there is one that automatically turns the phone to vibe whenever you have an appointment. Although using the volume bars on the side should overide it.
Do you have your ringtones stored on your storage card?
I have a T-mobile Wing (P4350) and from reading in these forums, it seems to be an HTC bug affecting various phones, where it seems the phone sometimes loses the storage card (which it seems is a problem which also leads to corrupted cards) ... anways, if your phone rings and the phone "can't find" the ringtone file, it simply just vibrates with no sound. This is the same type of issue, that happens when you have programs installed on your storage card that error when the phone is turned on, and the storage card driver hasn't loaded yet.
I suggest placing the ringtones you use on the device memory .. and that may solve your problem... that way the ringtones are there and the device doesn't have to look for them when it rings.
I also had a problem, where I was using SPB mobile shell/phone suite and there is an icon on the today screen, which sets up ringing profiles .. and sometimes, due to a bug or something, the settings on my phone would be changed. Try going into your sounds and notifications and seeing if for some reason it's set to no sound, but vibrate only or something like that.
My uncle has the same phone, but he had no problem with the ringtone.. and i use the standart ringtone in the HTC
and he vibrate non-stop thats not normal..
If i do the hard reset, he is normal.. after a time prevent the same problem..
Similar Problem
I have lost the abilaty to use MP3 Ringtones. The stock tones work just fine but I can't use my own MP3 ringtones. I had them Installed Storage Card/My Documents/My Ringtones. This was working fine then they just stopped working. I moved them to
My Devise/Windows/Rings. This still did not help. I can see the Ringtones when I edit contacts and I can choose the tones but they do not do the standard "Test Play" like the stock ones do. Any insight would be great.

It has taken me about a week and numerous hard resets to pinpoint the problem, and how to reproduce it.
It seems that the Mini notification bubble, which appears when there is more than one icon in the notification position in the title bar, displays a pop up bubble full of square boxes instead of individual notification icons, eg headset, missed calls or SMSes.
Here's how to reproduce it. You will need to have the following set up:
1. Have a .wmv video file on your SD.
2. Make sure your bluetooth headset is working fine with your Mini. You should see a headset icon on the title bar.
3. You need another phone (mobile, line phone doesn't matter as long as it has no caller non-display) to test this. Let's call it the control phone. Make sure you assign the control phone to a dummy contact, and assign a photo to the contact.
Here's how to test.
1. Open windows media player and play the .wmv file. Switch to full screen, switch back, and close the app.
2. Use the control phone to call your Mini. The photo should pop up. Hang up the control phone.
3. You should now see a notification bubble in the position formerly occupied by the headset icon. This is because there are now two notifications: headset and missed call.
4. Tap once on the bubble.
For me, I see a dialog box pop up for 1 second, with square boxes. A soft reset fixes things.
I realised that the same bug can be reproduced using BetaPlayer and an avi file.
Anyone else has encountered this?
I had the same problem with my Mini. The Bluetooth was on and the SMS sent notification came and the bubble popped up but after sometime the message sent notification envelope just would not go.
Yes, that happened to my friend who's using a Mini too. For him the text bubble or grey notification icon bar wouldn't go away, but for me it wouldn't stay.
if you're using an O2 Mini can you check on your storage and storage card thru the computer when you're syncing and see if there is a 0 kb file called "ignore_my_docs" on it?
Even after a HR I cant seem to get rid of it?!?
me toooo
same issue
Same problem here.... any help would be appreciated...
Same happens some times when I send a SMS: the bubble with the "message sent" notification doesn't disapear... I haven't find a way to reproduce this one...
Belgo
Anyone facing the ignore_my_docs problem?
What problems would the ignore_my_docs file cause?
This zero-byte file is created if the Mini doesn't detect the "My Documents" folder when you first insert the freshly formatted SD. It simply tells applications that instead of scanning just the files and subfolders beneath "My Documents", it now has to scan the entire SD card.
You can delete the ignore_my_docs file, which I did, as I find applications take too long to display/scan files, eg in the Album application it will attempt to list all relevant files on your SD, instead of listing just files within the "My Documents" folder.
Thanks for the info Cheshirecat.
I was worried it was some sort of virus file since it doesnt show on the Magician but just shows if I access the storage or storage card folder on my phone when its connected thru the computer....and keeps coming back even if I delete it.
Thanks again.

Not sure if this problem is the similar to the one that shows up on the XDA 2 with the new O2 1.72.181 ROM or not... but that seemed to be caused by an old icon from O2 Active that had not been disabled properly in the new ROM. I had a constant notification bubble, even when nothing had been "missed", that showed the running application and the inactive O2 Active icon. Since I don't use O2 Active, I deleted the O2 Active application and that fixed the problem. I am not familiar with the O2 mini, or if it has O2 Active or not, but i thought I would mention it in case it helps :?

Same problem with notification
same for me
have also experienced the same problem. I uninstalled apps that put stuff on the task bar but the prob was not fixed so I did a hard reset and didn't install apps that affect the task bar anymore... I am thinking this maybe an OS issue.
In the end I did the same: hard reset it.
Now I am careful of what I install, and try to use the stock applications whenever possible. And backup before I install any system utility.
So far so good. 8)
same for me!
annoying prob :-(
Hi guys...
i've been experiencing a few software problems on the phone. can you check this out for me...
I have all my sounds set to different ring tones.. ie. phone ring is dog bark. reminder is alarm 3. new message is something else..etc.
Everything remains fine... until a reminder goes off for an appointment
Whenever i make an appointmentwith a reminder and it then goes off, it plays the pre-installed default sound instead of the one i've chosen. What it also does...is it then resets ALL of my sound settings including my phone ring, my new SMS sent, my wake up alarms to the original default sounds. WTF?
After 7 hours of trying different things..I've narrowed it down to the reminders. so.. no reminders = i keep my sound settings...and i can't stand the preset bank of sounds the TYTN came with. grr.
Can you verify that for me please? is it a software bug? I'm in montreal this week getting married (YAY) and so i'm going to be away from my machine and cant afford to do a hard reset and lose all my contacts).
Thanks In Advance
Cheers.
SINC
PS.
Also, anyway to set all sounds to go to the storage/my documents/my music folder instead of the internal windows "ring" folder? i'd love to know how to edit this in the registry (i'm sure it can be done), and use this folder for all my reminder/alarm/msg/ring sounds...Its just I have no experience in hacking the registry or know where to begin looking.
thanks
I recently flashed my Topaz to a 6.5 ROM, and I'm loving it. It's slick, smooth abnd fast. My only gripe is that no matter where I seem to put an MP3, I never have the option of choosing anything but one of the three default rings as a ringtone:
Ring01 - WindowsPhone
Ring02 - Velvet
Ring03 - Flame
They're all the same!!
Surely Microsoft hasn't locked this down?
"oh listen! someone's got a Windows phone! let's point and laugh and joke at them with their gay ringtone that can't be changed!"
Theres two ways you can set the ringtone.
First you can select the mp3 file and from the menu select "Set as Ringtone"
or
Copy the mp3 file to /my documents/my ringtones and then select it from the ringtone list as normal
I don't have the option on right click menu to 'Set as Ringtone'
Placing MP3 in that location does not show it in the list.
Could this be a Cooked ROM issue?
I am using TOM Topaz from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526966
use file explorer, select and hold on the mp3 file, u will se options such as copy, paste and set as ringtones.
by the way " /my documents/my ringtones " this is the location in the device, not in SD card
Worked, thanks!
it's doesn't worked for me
I dont have "paste and set as ringtones", just only "pase" and just have 3 rings tone
Ring01 - WindowsPhone
Ring02 - Velvet
Ring03 - Flame
(
Someone helpme plz!
I use rw6828, ROM WM 6.5
Do you have a "/my documents/my ringtones" folder? What's in it? If you don't, create one and see if it makes a difference. Oh and "", to those who seem to think cooked roms are great and stable..
I've a similar issue... Rom in signature.
I've set a .mid file as ring. Anyway it's present in \my documents\suonerie. But it doesn't work. When I call it uses a different ring. And if I go into sound and notification settings I can't play that .mid for a preview, but it's playable with wmp...wazzup??
same problem with me I've made a folder on the sd card on my experia x2 named My Ringtones(this helped to put my mp3's there and the phone to recognize them as a ringtones) and when I enter my sounds and notifications it shows all the mp3 files I've put there and use as personalized rings and they work but sometimes when somebody call me my phone start ringing with some strange win mo default melodie(ugly SE melody) and I have to change it again with some of my own's but as u can guess it lasts just a few days and than the old story repeats........
any suggestions.....
Can't set ring tone for incomming calls
I loaded WM6.5 ROM on my Treo 750.
Everything is great except one issue...
... I cannot set the Incoming Call Ring Tone.
When I go into the options of the phone, it is set to "none".
I set it to "Vibrate and Ring", then set a ring tone.
When I save/exit, it reverts back to "none".
I tried mid ring tones, wma, and mp3.
I tried ring tone only and vibrate only also...
... But no matter what I set it to, it keeps reverting back to none.
It WILL NOT ring or vibrate on incoming calls.
The SMS, Voice Mail, Missed Call, and email notifications all work fine.
Oddly, when I go into settings, sound options, then notifications, the incomming call ring tone is set.
I can change it and it saves. But it has no affect.
And the options in the phone dialer still has "none" selected.
ANY Help would be great!
Thanks

Does the ring tone play in your settings?

Thank you for the reply!
Yes, it plays when I press the play button in settings.
Maybe you have an app with call profiles and the silent or mute one is activated. Something like Spb Phone Suite.
If you don't have another profile app installed, I would suggest a hard reset to fix the issue.

this. Don't put it in the Windows/ring folder. Drop the ringtone in the windows folder itself. That's what I had to do. Hope that helps.
I also suspect the my documents folder works too.
Saving music files to SD Card/My Documents worked for me.. All work as a rigntone.. For text message I believe the songs have to be over a certain file size, i had some 15-30 secons text message ringtones on my previous phone and these arent picked up on the HTC HD2 if i want them as text message ringer.. The complete songs work fine..
Does anyone know how to stop a text message ringtone without opening the text message?? I have a 2 minute song as as txt ringtone and it wont stop playing unless i actually open the messaging folder to see the text.. Also, if i get a txt the song will start playing, and if i get another txt 5 seconds later, the same song will play again overlapping previous txt ringtone.. thus both songs play at same time until i open message..
Any help is appreciated..
Any help??
Also my on my brothers HTC HD2 we are having a problem where the sms ringtone is causin his phone to freeze half way thru the song.. He has a regular song as sms.

There is no way to Stop the sound with out opening the ringtone, The best advice I can give is to make the ringtone shorter. Normaly around 3 sec or so
Thanks for the advice.. However, I added some 10-15 second mp3 songs i had.. And the phone doesnt detect them in order to use them as sms ringers. Seems to be that the file has to be over a certain size.. Anyone else has this issue?
Another observation was that if you fo to Setting> All Setting> Sound & Notifications.. Notifications tab, Select Incoming Message, and select Display Message on Screen.. Then the ringtone no matter how long it is, it will only sound for 3-5 seconds and stop...
After the last official update something weird started happening to my phone. After random periods of time (1 - 5 days) all my ringtones and notifications sounds for all the applications seem to change by themselves.
Gmail will have no sound selected, Gtalk will pick one random MP3 file from my music folder, alarms will get the "Beep" sound, SMS/reminders will get a different (default?) sound, contacts that had custom ringtones will get the default ringtone, and the default ringtone for all contacts is changed too.
It's a little annoying, I can set everything back the way it was quite fast, but something else happens: for a few contacts only (random each time) I cannot change the ringtone anymore. The default one is set, I choose another one, but the new ringtone isn't applied. The only way to change the ringtone is to erase the contact and create it again (or sync from outlook to have it back).
Anyone else got this problem? I guess a hard reset will solve it, but I'm too lazy to install everything again etc.
I still have this problem. From time to time, all my notification shouds (alarm, message, ringtone, custom ringtones, everything) will change to random mp3s from my alarm/notification/ringtone or music folder.
It's not related to USB cable / SD mass storage mounting, I rarely use that. It usually happens in the background while I'm not even using the phone. Suddenly, it will e.g. start playing a whole mp3 track from may music folder when I receive an email.
Anyone else getting this stupid issue? I found a lot of people complaining in other threads and other forums, but no solution. I hate having to set my custom tones again and again...
HTC Desire HD too
My HTC Desire HD is also playing random mp3s with notifications. Not mail, that remains the same. But calendar and SMS all play mp3s. I can't seem to fix it. The notification settings still say it's meant to be playing a standard ringtone, but nope, mp3 it is.
Anyone figured out a fix?
I don't know if it helps, but I renamed my "Music" folder (that's where I had all .mp3 files that would randomly become ringtones) to something else and also removed the HTC Music widget from homescreen. Sometimes the ringtones will revert to HTC default and stay that way after I connect to USB mass storage / disconnect, but a phone reset will solve that.
