Clear words that the system has learnt? - P3600 General

Is there a way to clear out the words that the system has learnt as I have typed in the past?
Eg once i typed huuuuuuuuury!!!
And now every time I type hu it comes up, I want to reset this.
I found a file in My Docs..\Dictionary\MyWords - I moved it but it hasnt made any difference.
Thanks in advance.

Hi FD
I use a small (and free!) dictionary editor by dmitry, heres a link to the download.

I find its very affective for tidying up the internal dictionary.
MSG

Thanks MSG, that seems to work a treat.

Getting Word Completion to learn new words!

OK, this may just be a Pocket PC thing rather than a specific XDA II thing but I'm not sure.
Can anyone tell me if their XDA is learning frequently used words that are not in it's dictionary. For example, my name's Ravi and after a couple of weeks of typing emails, letters etc all ending '... Ravi', it's still not learnt the word. All it suggests is 'Ravaged' (!!)
This morning, I got a bit fed up of this so I created a note and typed in 'Ravi' about 100 times and guess what, it still doesn't learn it.
Is there a trick to getting the dictionary to learn new words or is it just my name it can't stand !!
Maybe someone else can try this and see if it works !
Ravaged
Ravi,
Did you ever sort this out?
I would love to enter a few words (including my name!) in to the database

Check out Fitaly. 60 days trial. You will be able to build own shortcuts. And I think it's a much faster SIP then the others.

I'm not sure if the XDA learns new words by itself, but you can add words. Not sure if there's a simpler way, but this (rather complicated one) works:
- open any transcriber-aware application
- write the word you want to add, using keyboard or transcriber
- mark (highlight) the word
- switch to transcriber; if the second row of icons is not visible, tap on the hand icon
- tap on the icon with the red check mark to open the "corrector window" (not sure if this is the correct translation for "Korrekturfenster" ); the highlighted word will appear in the new window
- double-tap anywhere inside the word.
- in the menu that (hopefully) comes up, chose "add to dictionary" ("Dem Wörterbuch hinzufügen")
Voila, you're all set!
But please be careful - I didn't yet find a way to remove words from the dictionary...
Cheers
Daniel
many thanks,
ashby
Never sorted it out - everyone I spoke to said that the OS doesn't add new words. I'm just about to buy Calligrapher - I tried the demo and it's amazing - I'm not sure that this feature is available on this program either though. I guess I've just given up adding new words but I will try Daniel's method outlined above.
BTW I tried Fitaly and what the hell were they thinking ? Is it supposed to be an easier input method than what we have already or is it just designed to fry your brain ?!!
TenGo's pretty decent though !
thanks all

Getting Word Completion to learn dutch!
Does anyone know how to change the word completion dictionary on my Qtek 2020 / PPC 2003 to another dictionary / language?
It is said that in PPC 2002 you could swap the file \Windows\user.dct, but not on PPC 2003 (the file is apparently not there).
Try out WordLogic: http://www.wordlogic.net/software.html
Not cheap, but works very well!

Suggested word dictionary in Text Messaging.................

Hi,
You know when your typing a text message and it shows suggested words as you type in a small box on the screen and it also stores these words into its memory for next time, well im not very good at spelling and now when i type a word it shows me the rubbish that i previously entered.
for example i accidently type approved "apprOVED" and "apprroved" and it now constantly shows me these incorrect suggestions instead of the correct version.
How can i undo this, as in delete the rubbish entered in before that it now keeps showing me?
Thanks
you'll have to either delete (gets rid of all entries) or adjust the file...
\Windows\dyncompdict.dat
ok,
Anyone got any other suggestions? Surely there must be a simpler way?

Nope, there isn't. Please read http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=365548 for a review of how the word completion dictionary should be edited.
OK. My \Windows\dyncompdict.dat file was missing.... as is my word completion. I have created and copied one - to no avail. Any remedies? Pls help

Great Simple Idea For App To Save Time

How about an app to add a space after each word typed? Its such a pain to hit the space bar each time and it can be faulty like ill forget to hit it and it jacks the words up. So basically use a dictionary from t9 or something and make it so when the word is finished being typed there will be a space added. Maybe this is not as easy as sound but I hope that someone can do this! Thanks
Why not create a timemachine which would slow down time? That would even save more ... Its kinda impossible to create a tool for this because it couldnt recognize the kind of word. As example I want to write "messages" but the tool make automatically a space after I wrote "message" so it only would make problems! Nice try of idea but it unfortunalty failed
You can enable this in the input options, can't you?
Shapewriter and Swype do this.
You can type a sentence at once and it will work out the spaces for you.
This belongs in the Q&A section
and moreover... use the Search function.. there are a few SIPs which already do that.
thank you

Text Input question

All phones I've had over the past god knows how many years have all had the ability to automatically save any new words that I might type, but my HD2 does not seem to do so.
What I mean by this is that if I type a word that is not in the phone's dictionary/predictive text, if I manually typed in the word without the predictive text it would remember it for next time, and each time after that. Or in the case of the iphone it would remember it and be able to use it in the auto correct feature. However, the HD2 doesn't. Can you set it so that it does? I've seen in the hints and tips section that you can manually add to the words recognised by predictive text, but not found anything that suggests how it can 'autosave' words.
Any ideas? I'd be amazed if a phone like this hasn't got this feature, as like I said you've been able to do it on other phones for years.
Cheers

It learns gradually from your typing and language style. There is no way to force a word into the dictionary (through the UI), but if you've typed it a few times, and selected it from the suggestions, it just starts to show up. I think it's just a list of suggestions sorted in the order of most commonly used.
It does for me.
You write the full word and it appears as a marked word(as seen in pic nr one). When it does just press it ones and the next time you begin writing it it should suggest it(pic two).

Hmm, mine doesn't seem to do that. When you write the word for the first time do you have it in XT9 or ABC mode?
Also I've just noticed your name. Are you named after the town or the furniture?
I believe that the suggestions are add automatically... To see and add directly..
Navigate to the windows directory and look for
"eT9MyWords.exe"
That will launch the application with the words in.

Keyboard auto correction dictionary

I use to know where the config file that held all the auto corrections for the keyboard, but now I can't find it. I mistakenly typed in "thatd" so now every time I want to say "that's", I get the wrong word by default.
Does anyone know where the config file is so that I can delete the "thatd" entry?
Thanks
Joe, the file is named eT9MyWords, and it's in the Windows folder. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Hmmm, I ran the program and there was no thatd... This happens mainly in the HTC Messaging if that makes a difference
try soft reset. I've often found that some words that come up as options when typing are lost when soft reset.

I just Task29 and flashed a new ROM and the mistake persisted
hehe, handy.
The next thing then is that the word generator throws up words based on your useage, , so type 'thats' again, but press the small symbol to the right of the words when they come up, and you should see 'that's' as one of the options. Choose it, and then type it again, and you should see it now comes up as the first option.
(Also, its worth making sure you are being very very accurate with the S and D keys, maybe your touch alignment is off a few milimeters, in which case it WILL offer you thatd, because thats what you typed, , , i do that myself practically daily with some words.)
edit - just double checked, and when i type thatd it doesnt offer me that's, and when i type thats it doesnt offer me thatd.
boo... That's so lame! I just typed 400+ chars worth of "thats" which I pressed the "that's" suggestion that came up every time, and i still get thatd... I even get thatd as the default suggestion for tjats, yhats and thatd... I did a search on my phone for thatd, and I got nothing (wasn't expecting to either)
I've Task29'd and flashed a new ROM and I still get THATD!!!! Really, I think I'm going to have to move away from the HTC Messaging....
So funny update. I typed "thatd" and thats was the first option to come up and I thought Yay! it's fixed! Then I tried typing thats and thatd came up
Does anyone know of a registry or config file somewhere that I need to edit to get rid of thatd?!
Thanks for any help!
