Tethering a Wizard to a notebook PC - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

How do I tether my Wizard (Cingular 8125) to my notebook PC so I can use my Wizard as a modem w/ my unlimited data plan? Usually there are drivers or something that you need to install on the PC side.
I've tethered my Motorola SLVR with no problems but I had the device drivers.

Cingular and PDANet Question

Hi,
I have a Cingular 8525 with the unlimited PDAConnect data plan. From what I have gathered, tethering to a laptop requires the Cingular Laptop Connect plan (which costs more). I saw a program on the Internet called PDANet (for tethering) and I am curious as to how Cingular sees this data. Do they recognize it as PDAConnect data, or do they infact know that its a Laptop being tethered and bill appropriately?
I ask because I plan on using my 8525 for both PDA browsing and tethering. Not trying to circumvent anything here.
Thanks!
I think I answered my own question:
Connecting to the Internet using the Cingular 8525 USB to Windows XP via Dial-up Networking
SUBJECT:
Connecting to the Internet using the Cingular 8525 USB to Windows XP via Dial-up Networking
FACT:
Cingular 8525
Windows Mobile 5.0
Microsoft Windows XP
USB
SYMPTOM:
Modem / Tethering
ADVISORY:
Data charges are billed based on the subscribed rate plan.
Note: Customers who wish to tether with their PDA device and have an unlimited PDA data plan will need to upgrade their rate plan to a Data Connect Plan for Laptops. Unlimited Data Connect Plans for PDA do not include tethering capabilities and may incur additional charges.
If you connect on your phone with the [email protected] settings you can use the wireless modem program found on the Tytn extended rom and the drivers for XP/2000 found in this forum to connect without incurring any additional charges.
Search this forum for the answers, there are some specific posts that helped me out awhile ago. The drivers for XP/2000 also work for vista on my laptop in compatability mode.
Here is a post I had initiated awhile ago, It may help.

using 8525 as a USB WiFi card

I know that using Wmodem I can use the 8525 to connect my laptop to the internet through the Cingular data network.
But I have an old laptop that doesn't have an in-built wireless card.
Can I use the 8525 to connect my laptop to my home WiFi network ?
I guess no, there is no way to connect wifi card in tytn (TIACXWLN1) to PC, and also driver should be problem... maybe is a way to route internet throught NAT or somethink like that to USB port and Active sync with speciall program written for WM5/6, but I never heard about that.

Internet Sharing between two pdas

I am wandering if there is a way to share my internet connetion between my alltel ppc 6800 with the new htc shift. I know how to link the phone with my laptop but I am currently looking at purchasing the shift to replace it and was wandering if the connection would work. If anyone has tried this please post.
P.S. the connection would be via bluetooth unless I converted the mini usb from the ppc 6800 to usb back to usb to plug into the shift. Thanks.
not sure if it could be done with BT, pretty sure it cant be done with USB (unless the shift can operate in host mode)
what should work is wifirouter (im sure the shift has wireless)
ok so how would i get the connection to work through a router? The only internet connection i have is through the ppc 6800.
nono, wifirouter is an app that you would run on your 6800, it essentially turns it into a wireless access point that other wifi enabled devices can use for internet access
where is the app available for download at?
Is that the only way it would work or could I configure the 6800 as a modem to connect?
ok I downloaded the app but still cant connect. I am trying the connection via my laptop and it stops at waiting for Internet connection sharing. is there some setting that needs to be changed or what am i doing wrong?
You ever figure out how to get the internet on your pda using the 6800 and the connection? I would like to do this bluetooth with my setup.
The newest version of WMWiFiRouter ($$$) allows you to do this over wifi, BT, or USB. If you have the money, it's a great program.
I have WMWifiRouter and use it with my laptop. How do i use it with bluetooth to get internet on my Dell X51? The x51 wants to dial a number when you setup a connection.

Using The Internet Sharing

So I have a Qwest Mogul with the data plan. How in the world am I able to use this phone as a modem for my laptop. I cannot get my laptop to detect it. Is there a driver I need?
You probably need the drivers that come with ActiveSync.
That's already on there. Hasn't anybody used this feature?
