vibration feature - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

Hello everybody,
this is my first Thread and Im sorry for my bad english.
Okay... ehhmm... i have an idea for programs in general to make them a little bit more sensible:
it could be suitable for ContactManager or programs where you have to scroll down/up and left/right.
So for example if I scroll down one entry, then the cellPhone could vibrate for a short period of time, so the user can feel that he scrolled down one item.
Its difficult to explain so I hope somebody understands what I mean.

I think I know what you mean (some kind of "force feedback") ? Its probably not impossible to try and hack that functionality into an application but just think how much battery power that motor would drain if it was used as part of the user interface.

Align Scrollbars on the left side?

Is it possible to align the Scrollbars on the left side of the Controls?
I am left-handed, and i can't see the screen while scrolling...
fuzzi
I have the same problem
A lefty here to! Strange that this isn't a standard option of a modern device. Back in the day when I used a Palm V there was an app to move the scrollbar to the left. All devices with pen input should have this option.
This is a very often asked q. It's impossible to relocate the scrollbar. Sorry.
i don't understand it
I don't understand it. Many people are left handed, and there is no possibility for aligning the scrollbars. And 15% are left handed....

Sorry, there is no. As I've already stated, I've looked into the problem quite thoroughly and I'm absolutely sure I'm right.
Unless the author of theapplication explicitly puts the scrollbar in there, it's impossible to do this on the OS level.
So there are no third party browser options that have that ability?
there is a screen setting change you can make but that really doesn't do much good.
Are all WM5 phones the same this way? cause i'd swap in a second to get a phone where they considered us lefties. I think a mfr could make a lot of money off the lefties if they designed some phones to be left handed of a series.
Hard to believe there is no solution....

There is no solution. As I've stated, it's only at the individual app level that left-handed support can be added. On the operating system level, no app can be forced to do so.
Left Handed Sos!!
There has got to be someone out there that can make this happen. Someone please develope something that can make this happen. with all the things that are being hacked on this device you would think this would be an easy one.
IM SENDING THIS OUT AS A CHALLENGE TO ANYONE THAT THINKS THEY CAN DO IT. I WILL PAY FOR IT EVEN AND IM SURE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!
a solution might be to use the scrolling functionality of FTouchFLO

That looks like it could be accomplished with Wisbar Advance Desktop. At least I think you could get real close.
well..im talkin about a whole new ball game, meaning for example: the arrow on the bottom can be pressed and drawn up by your finger to display things like programs running or etc. its lyk using one of the cube roll type, and while the arrow is being pulled up other menus such as the one on the right will automatically go right and the clock menu will go left to make space for the Arrow screen. The arrow screen will also be lyk a notification screen, lets say a new call came, the arrow screen will automatically go up to display an incoming screen but this time it will be transparent. The left menu will work like this: Lets say the music icon is chosen, the icon will light up and that menu only the box will move left and while its moving to the left the other menus that was with will move to the right, and the clock menu will move to the left, the arrow menu will go down. and it will expand to take over the entire screen to display the music player. The orb will roll to the right. and to exit music all the user gotta do is scroll their finger from left to right the opposite direction it came from.

lolz..i used photoshop
In order to truly make this a reality, you'd have to use native C code. I mean, wisbar, and flash can do it, but at the expense of a lot of system resources. If no one takes it up, maybe I'll put aside some time to code it, especially if you give me more motivation by rolling out some more screenshots of your ideas .

yes I will post up more images but sad thing is I don't have much experience in creating flash images but I will post images. Well thundershadow I would be glad to assist u in this project because I seen wat u can do lolz I seen ur pocketmelody and extremely impressed keep up the good work
If you post up enough images, I can give it a whirl. No promises at all, cuz I'm pretty committed to PocketMelody. But I've been dieing for a new interface that is independent of wisbar and flash, and it is my opinion that user interfaces aren't generally so dazzling that flash is a MUST use application. Most of the animations etc are simple yet effective. And the strength of their looks is in good CLEAN LOOKING static graphics (which I'm no good at making).
So, what I'm saying is, if your ideas inspire , I'll set aside some time, but again, no promises.
help
Even if i'm not so god in programming, i'd be proud to help you, whatever te way I could help
(maybe as beta tester)
don't hesitate to ask !!!
i've post some of my ideas in the Elf's forum
here's some preview
another idea i called "colour"
more samples here:

it looks to cartoon like.
The above ideas can be 90% completed with pre-existing software.
Wisbar Advanced Desktop and possibly Mortscript to help with some of the multiple dock hiding/showing. A new version might exist that lets you slide/fade in and out docks...that'll make everything visually more appealing. Once you get to that point all you need to do is create a today plug-in to show you the current running programs as icons. The today plug-in will need to have an option to create height and width settings so that it'll be perfect in a slide in dock controlled by the up arrow.
The main thing that will be missing from your idea is the touch-style movement. The up arrow will be something you click on instead of the desired finger slide.

Granted, but if you really want to make it usable to a wider range of devices, you can't beat coding it natively. I've used WA/WAD on my Wizard, and after a while it gets too slow.

Haptic/Vibrating Feedback

Got your HD yet? Loving the vibrating feedback from those virtual button along the bottom? Me to! The question is, how do we enable this feature for other touch screen inputs? It should at the very least be mapped to the two Windows Mobile soft keys right? There is clearly some API for this since Opera it also doing it when you click on a link.
Anyone got any ideas how we can get at it?
yeah i was expecting full screen haptic feedback when i saw the spec sheet few months ago. kinda disapointed to find now that it's only for the capacitive buttons along the bottom.
if samsung omnia can do it why can't the hd?
i'm sure someone in the community will sort something out!
Actually, I noticed that the page buttons on the Touchflow 3D bar also give feedback so that's pretty cool. They don't do it when you slide across the various pages, only when you click to select one so the diffence between the breif press and a press and hold event must be detected also.
I'm sure we will see so more work done with the haptic feedback. I seem to remember that it took just a few days for some ultra bright person (CharlyV was first I think) to revese engineered the API for the G-Sensor so I expect someone will feel like writing a little app to extend the feedback funtions pretty soon.
any news? I am also keen to get haptic feedback on everything.
i use this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450256
really really love it!
start -> settings -> system -> touchresponse settings to customize to your needs......
kudo's for the maker!
Been posted elsewhere but http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425063
Is great especially when typing. I've dialed the vibration down so it just tingles as you type.

[REQ/IDEA] Changing words from dictonary with nav wheel?

Hey
As the topic title suggest i have been thinking alot about this ..
Since many people hate the way you change between words when using the phonepad on the diamond (either by tapping on the word, or by using the d-pad which can be tricky) i thought: hey what about using the nav wheel to scroll between words? when scroling in one direction it will go left and when scrolling another direction it will go right..
There is the one solution however which would be to change to the new Touc HD Keypad which has arrows.. This works really great, but the keys are too small if you ask me..
I am no programmer, but i wish i were, but is this possible and if it is, how hard would it be to make?
And is this idea good at all ?
~D
I am no programmer either, but oh my fuc*ing god that sounds like a great idea
Just bringing this to the top.. Just want to hear if this is a good idea.. ?
Not a bad idea. But the NAV button isn't as hard as you think once you figure it out. Don't try pushing the button itself, but push to the left or the right of the button.
See the following thread to understand what I mean.
I used to hate the NAV button until I came across the article above.
Nice idea, i have think about it self
The only potential problem I see is that anything written or developed would also have to disable the Zoom funtion of the NAV wheel when the dictionary is visible and reenable it when it's not.
Otherwise it would scroll and zoom at the same time.

Disable Power Button when Keyboard open?

You guys are the best at writing code for certain functions, so I thought to check here to see if someone had written, or is in the process of writing, something to change this inconvenience.
It would seem to me that HTC placed the power/screen off button that is located on the top, left hand side of the TP2 in the worst possible place. Every time I have the keyboard open and am typing I find myself accidentally pressing the button and turning off the screen.
Would it be possible to have that button deactivated only when the keyboard is open?
Much thanks and appreciation

Gordon,
I apologize for the unnecessary thread. I did a search and didn't come up with that thread.
Much thanks for the assistance.
