I cannot make a success with connecting ubuntu on internet by pluging USB cabel and internet sharing in Blackstone.
Can someone give me a hand?
Thanx
How far have you got? Synce installed? Partnership created?
What version of ubuntu?
Hi Kangburra, if you have this working can you post a how to of how u did it?? I use linux mint ( ubuntu spin off) & ive never managed to get any of my phones to sync in linux..
I have ubuntu 8.04.
My last one windows mobile PDA was Eten X500+. For to share internet connection a needed only to have installed two packages:
dkms and usb-rndis-dkms
Its now working now.
I tried to use usb-rndis-lite (http://ohioloco.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3588717&postcount=54), but it failed too.
I use pdanet with my vogue on windows Vista. I've decided to get rid of windows all together if I can, but the only way for me to get internet at home is tethering. So if I can get it to work with my ubuntu then I can ditch my vista. I've searched with no luck on getting anything working with this phone. Has anyone here usb tethered the vogue to ubuntu or linux? Thanks
I have a script at home for ubuntu that will tether with WinMo... the only thing is I am working a night shift right now, but if you do me a favor and reply to this thread tomorrow I will post it here
If anyone knows how to tether Android to Ubuntu that would be fantastic

PDANET is crap, and pointless with the vogue, windows mobile comes with an internet sharing program on the phone, just enable it and plug it in. on windows the drivers come with activesync. here's a simple walkthrough for vista and internet sharing. http://www.windowsmobilecool.com/2008/10/internet-sharing-love-laptop-windows-mobile-phone/
attached is a picture of internet sharing on my vogue running NFSFANS 6.5 rom
To get the drivers to tether in ubuntu go here.
http://1n73r.net/2008/10/16/how-to-tether-windows-mobile-to-ubuntu
that works for me.
if you get the following error when running make
Code:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.28-15-server/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
then run the command
Code:
$ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

Thanks. I've tried the internet sharing program in windows but it gives me more difficulties staying connected than pdanet does. I'll give the drivers a try for ubuntu, thank you.
hey,
until recently i was able to connect to my shared files on my computer running win-XP via wi-fi connection with my magic. i used programs like es explorer and such. after i upgraded to win7 i cannot longer connect via wi-fi. the massage says something like: "smb://..... could not find the server". i checked everything i can: parameters of my router, shared options in win7. driver updates etc.
i gave up, but today i saw somewhere that linux systems have a problem to connect to win7 systems because of a problem with the smb server.
pls, does anyone know how to fix it?
pls if anybody is able to access their windows 7 shares with android' could help me do this?
the strange thing is that i could do this with the win7 but after the first updates of the sys' it stopped working.
Does anyone now how I can access the internal storage of my transformer through Ubuntu? I have the transformer connected via USB but it does not auto-mount or appear to be recognised as a storage disk
thanks for any help
I'm using SSHDroid and usb tethering when tablet is connected, find out the tablet ip, then you can use the ubuntu built-in "Connect To Server" via ssh.

Would you be able to explain the method you use a bit more thoroughly? I too am having frustrating problems getting my transformer mounted under Linux, and am sick of transferring everything via SD card
I tried over SSH, but Android automatically refuses connection. And why do we need to have it tethered via usb to SSH?
The transformer acts as an MTP device. I had some issues with it appearing properly in Ubuntu 10.04, but I believe is because I did something wrong. I have it all working now and mounted as /media/transformer - but I am also running 11.04 now.
This has been asked on the forum before and this answer assisted me in solving it[Full thread].
You also have some links in a different thread here.

What's your SSHD application? I recommend sshdroid, you search it in the market.
You needn't tethering if pc and android are in one lan (connected to same wifi for example). Getting android ip is the only purpose of tethering, you can run 'route' command in ubuntu to find out the gateway of usb0, which is the ip of android.
I use a combination of swiftp and droidsshd to access device from ubuntu. Works well. You might need to get the programs from code.google.com, as they are not in the market.
People... they aren't looking for an SSH application, they are looking to MOUNT THE DEVICE OVER USB.
You need to install either libmtp or mtpfs. On Arch Linux, libmtp is in the repos, while mtpfs is in AUR. I use mtpfs.
After getting mtpfs, all you need to do is: sudo mkdir /media/tf && mtpfs -o allow_other /media/tf.
I do it with ADB. adb push and and pull does the job easily, unless you've a ton of different files you want to place in different places.
Using gnomad2 from repo @ Fedora 15 Gnome3
since there is no flashy mtpfs for my distro :/
(to lazy to compile)
I have never been able to get the device connected to dex application running on mac osx big sur. If someone is able to, could you please post the steps.
