Does anyone know, how I can assign an application to the wheel button, because the wheel button can not be assigned in the button settings neither in wm5 nor in wm6.
What I want to do is launch an application (TyTNDialer or may ContactBreeze) when I click on the wheel, is this doable?
Thanks for any help
Marc
The wheel button is just an emulation of the up and down cursor keys (ie the same as the dpad). Changing the dpad will change the wheel and vice versa.
However, I believe ButtonMax and AE Button Plus will allow you to redefine their functions.

I've noticed that i rarely ever use the up/down slider on the phone. I only use it to press UP to make sure the volume is all the way UP. So i was thinking, how do i change it so i can use it to scroll when using Opera/PIE or Reading an Ebook. I know has something to do with hardware button mapping but don't know where to start.
Use AE button mapper.
You can use VITO button mapper......cheers
I want to assign more hardware buttons to start apps and perform functions such as 'start' and 'ok' without losing the default set of buttons.
So I want all the buttons you get as default on my xda mini s plus I want to be able select the 'start' button and 'ok' from hardware buttons - like you can when the sliding keyboard is open.
I also want to hardware start tasks, notes etc.
I don't want to use smartskey as doesn't this change the volume slider to page-up/page-down?
There seems to be a couple of apps out there that can enable this e.g. vito button mapper though was wondering if anyone could recommend something inc freeware if poss.
Cheers.
You can edit the smartskey.ini to disable the volume slider and just use the press and hold features of the softkeys. I can't understand why you would want to though. By default smartskey allows the volume slider to function as a volume control in the phone app and in the today screen.
ah ha - I didn't know that.
smart key it is for me then, thanks very much.
Smartskey is the best app on my wizard. You will love it and wonder how you managed without it within the day.

Hi,
Is it possible to use the volume control as a scroll wheel (like in blackberry ).
I rarely use the volume knob but it would have been amazing if we could use it to scroll through the documents.

Can't you use the dpad?
dpad works fine.
I feel a scroll bar will be more handy the way for single handed operations.
Just wanted to check if this is workable and if someone has done this before.

Ok, I've undestood...
I said "use Dpad" because I've got a Touch, so it is the easiest way to scroll pages... It is central and can be used by one hand...
I don't know how other dpads are...
You can try AEBPlus (Google it), a program which allows you to assign any hard key to almost any function. I transformed my Touch's volume keys to a scroll wheel with it.
Heya.
There was an App. called Smartskey for the wizard that made the Volume keys scroll and the a long press of the Left Softkey Start Menu and a long press of the Right softkey and OK button.

Should work for you as it works on my Touch Dual.
