Bring me up to date ^^;;

Hi guys.
I'm new here, but that won't matter.
I'm new to this entire phone area. I ordered a Cingular 8125, and is due on Monday. I've been using those "free with contract" phones for a while now, and I thought I would like a change in pace.
But the problem is, I know nothing at all about the Cingular 8125, so I have a few questions.
I have a Cingular SIM, as I am a customer of Cingular, but I'm buying the phone seperately, so do I have to get it unlocked?
What are some applications to use on it?
What is all of this talk about AKU2 i-mate, etc about?
And anything important you would like me to know...
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. ^_^
you dont need it unlocked if you use a cingular sim. They won't give it to you unlocked, but you can use a program called lokiwiz or awizard to do it if you want to. search the forums for downloads.
Aku2 is an update that adds push e-mail and stereo bluetooth support. imate is just the name of a company that rebrands these phones.
applications you need: omapclock, wm5newmenu, smartskey, RegistryWizard and Total commander
i also suggest a today screen shortcut launcher and a program that makes the X button actually close programs instead of minimize them. i use spb pocket plus for this, but there are free alternatives.
Opera has a great internet browser for ppc and an excellent java based mini version. I suggest both of those
Get TCPMP for movies and I like Mortplayer for mp3's
Thanks.
Where can I find these programs?
google.com, your local pirate for the rest
Thanks ^_^
Also, which ROM update should I use? I see a lot after I searched..
I just upgraded from Tmobile MDA to the latest ROM, and my problems have all but vanished. Radio now picks up Wifi much quicker etc:
K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip
Thanks, does it matter which model you have? Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA, etc?
Pondering the leap myself...

Did you have problems with the settings or anything? Once you managed the install, how complicated was it? Did you edit the extended ROM? How much storage did you have after the install?

what rom to use?

Hi,
i have a wizard with the rom Qtek 1.1.7.5
i'm thinking about upgrading it, but i'd like to know what rom do you advise to use. i'm mainly interested in performance and of course some new features why not?!
most of all i'd like everything to work properly
another subject: i'm also thinking of overclocking it to use some programs like tomtom and skype, what is the program you advise me to use in this fashion, ie, only activate overclock when this programs are run? and what is the speed in MHz i should use?
Thanks in advance
another question
Sorry i forgot to ask one thing:
since i have a Qtek, will i be able to load, for example, a IMate rom?
yes, you can load an iMate K-Jam rom onto a Qtek 9100. They are the same internal hardware-wise, it's only the software customizations that are different.

Speed up Scotty!?

Hi ppl.
I recently bought a HP Ipaq hw6915, and Im not so overwhelmed with the speed ..I tried other PDA and they were quite faster than 6915 (WM5)..
Can anyone tell me some "Tips `n Tricks" to make it faster..?
btw. what programs do you suggest for it (square screen)..
Thnx, and greetings from a newbie..
22 views..no answers..c˛mon..what software do you use on your 69xx PDA-s?
Tweaks? ..something?
i think its a case of welcome to the world of wm5 :S
Ive heard of people having issues with performance who are using 4gb mini sd cards however, is this the case with you?
No, I got a 1Gb card..Its not the problem with the card but the PDA..my girlfrend has one 6915 too..same problems.
hmmm,
to be honest, ive never really been all that pleased with wm5's performance... Theres a list of tweaks in the wiki
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Performance
you might give them a try, youll need a suitable registry editor for your ppc.
sparx
Thnx! Ill try that..

Htc Audio Booster for Wizard?

I saw it on a post for Herald (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308773&post=3) and tried to install it on my 8125 but it doesn't work. The installation can run through. However no function is in effective.
Does anyone have more info about it? Can we make it work for Wizard?
I SECOND that request how the heck is this suppose to work i have been trying to use it on my 8525?
its an app u run from the programs menu, looks like a small mixing board if im not mistaken.... just helps to kick more life out of the phones speakers....
im not sure what went wrong with yalls installation, works just fine on my mda, thought its only a small improvement

Hi, Greyzter: you are the only one that reported it work on a Wizard. Could you kindly list some details about your device such as hardware version, OS, etc. so we can compare? I have a Cingular 8125 (Wiza100, G3) with NBD 7.1 ROM (WM6).
The installation is fine. Some noticable things include 1) change media manager theme, 2) cannot toggle "equalizer" and 3) no effect when selecting any preset or change the sliding bars.

That is what I am thinking as well. If this is the case, it won't work unless some one can work out correct driver.
The bottom line is: we need an equalizer for playing music but neither WMM nor Htc Media Manager has one built-in. Install another media player would be the only way to go but it is not preferred.
so the bottom line is htc audio booster is not compatible to wizrd or hermes?

T-Mobile Wing Users (aka HTC Herald) would like to know also . . .
If this HTC Audio booster app will work, please PM me and let me know or just respond here if anyone gets this working successfully, and what must be done to make it work.
Thanks.
This program is already made for the herald, wizard and hermes users are trying to get it to work for theirs, here is link to the thread:
scroll down a bit to find the cabs in post #3.

How to overclock Qualcomm MSM7200A?

Hello,
wann overclock my CPU but cannot find specific tool to do with Qualcomms MSM7200A-Processor.
Who can help?
And if someone can help, what max speed is preferred not to destroy CPU and causing freezes?
Many thanks!!!
I suggest you to try nueclock. I am using it on my TP & its just working great. Or else you can try speedbooster if you have enough time to tweak the processor yourself. Google for both the things.
There's only underclocking solutions out yet, no overclocking tool!
Search for nueDynamicClock and nueClockControl and you have found what you need!
search google for htc performance xda developers, and there should be a listing for Htc performance cab, its attached there for xda-developer members, i've tried this on my us cellular tp2 and it seems to work pretty well, it doesn't overclock as much as nuerom's solution for the TP but it does give a 100 mhz boost to clock speeds

I can't find it, only found a thread for the Apache, no Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2 cab.
try this
This may let your TP2 run at 624Mhz. Give it a try.
This seems to be a really old cab. I hope it doesn't mess up the TP2 somehow.
anybody tried this on a stock rom yet? i want to try it but i dont want to be the first person to die from an exploding phone! also, can you tell me what this cab does to the registry? id be interested to know what values it changes. THANKS
I would be happy to know about it as well.please anyone?
I'm using the the 3/5/10 Mr. X rom and when i install this cab nothing happens, no options, no program icon. rom actually seems sluggish after a soft reset :/
ok with stock 6.5 rom sktools showed no change in clock speed. i didn't notice anything different. so i am guessing it does not work.
They did manage to overclock the G1 to 780 mhz using the same processor.

I think it's easier to change the clock speed on Android, as many Android devices have been successfully overclocked. Even the Kaiser, which is natively a Windows Mobile device, runs at 528MHz with Android. It's seems that it's quite possible to overclock the MSM7xxx series, it's just not that easy (especially with Windows Mobile)
I have try'd it. Works realy good but my akku power get very quick away. But i use it only to watch Movies or ... and must times i do this with kabel.
