Do you get the RED LED showing when you plug in?
Mike
Battery could be SHOT.
no there is not the usual red light

The device should show the red LED when not charging or the battery is not inserted, unless:
1
The charger is blown
2
A component is blown on the device.
As you have tried two chargers I suggest it is a device component and therefore a repair job. As a last thing to try you could try the hard reset key and stylus combination.
Mike
I really dont where i can repair my device ;p
Can people from holland suggest me a repear place in the north?
thnx all in advanced, i will wait one more night
Well after a month of waiting i finally got a new phone!
There was a blown component and the repair compagny of my provider ask me to pay 230 euro's because it was a 'level 3' repair.
But my mobile provider didnt agree with the repair price so finally i didnt had to pay after all!
Windows Mobile 5 is on it So i'm going to flash!
Thnx to all,

My Opinion
been running through threads all over, just found out that there is no solution, because when a program pushes the unit to wake up from standby it freezes, this program can be weather, alarm, mail, active sync, and even a CALL can cause this, so it's a permanent bug in wm6 and PPC :-(

Hi all
About 4 weeks ago my XDA 2 was out of Battery and i wanted to charge it in the craddle. But when i put the XDA 2 in my craddle (with attatched power supply) the status led only turned RED and nothing else happend. After 30 minutes the status led turns off. I can not power on the xda, not with a soft reset and even not with a hard reset. So i thougt that the battery is maybe dead (too old or whatever ) and i bought a new one....but..... still the same problem!
When i charge the battery directly in the craddle (that works! led on the craddle changes after a few hours from orange to green) and put it after that back into the XDA 2.......... nothing happens....
please help
Hi,
I have the very same problem since month ago, I upgraded to wm2k5 2.03.32wwe, did a change in the system, and after 24h, my phone went dead
Did you do a rom upgrade or in any way altered something in the system? Let us know if you get it work, ok?
J.
The only ROM Update i made was the official one from O²... And this was half a year ago.
Well but..... I SOLVED IT! But i cannot say how... The only thing i've done is that i opened the XDA2 and deconstructioned it in its parts... Well and when i "just for fun" tried to connect the battery to the battery connectors..... DING DING So i assembled it again and now it works fine!
I also cleaned a lot of dirt out of it, maybe this was the reason. I will keep an eye on this...
But thanks for your efforts...
Greetings Ben
Da*n it, you lucky guy,
I wish I get off with such a simple solution. I do not have the right tools but I am out just now and getting the things I need. Fingers crossed
Red light means, you have problem with battery. At first check, if you have closed red lock on the bottom of battery. There is no switch to sense rear cover, so, it doesn't matter, if it put or not.
If battery is installed, lock closed, but you still have red light - try to obtain for a minute working battery from another Himalaya and have a try. If it does not work too... seems it's a hardware problem there.
Same thing happened to me I just took the battery out and left it for a few minutes then back in and it works

Thanks for your reply guys. I've tried everything you guys suggested, but I've been unsuccessful in starting my PDA. It's been like this for 2 months, I've tried taking out the battery, changing the battery etc, but still nothing. So I figured out it's probably a problem with the b/l mode, since I'm unable to enter b/l at all. I gave it to of mine who's a little more tech savvy, he's got the right tools to take the chip out, and if he can manage to flash the b/l. Has anyone done that. If yes, please advise. My friend has fixed some BIOS's for laptops etc, but this will be his first PDA. He said that he doesn't have a board for the PDA chip but will try to work it out some way around. Perhaps someone can advise me where to get that board from?
Anyway, I will keep you posted, and if you guys have any more ideas or experiences, please share.
J.
Hi friends,
Please give me advices on this situation.
I bought a HD since 05/2009. I installed many cooked ROMs and it still fine until now.
When i've turned off the screen with power button and then turned it on, the screen still black, but i still can touch on it and it vibrate each time i touch. I tried to soft reset by push reset button at the back, pull out the battery .... The screen is always black, but the phone can start up and vibrates when i touch on the screen.
I thought the screen consist of 2 parts, one for displaying and one for touching. And the displaying part is died.
Then i connected it to PC in order to re-install with the ship ROM, and so strange, the screen work again right after i plugged the cable. But i still re-installed it with the ship ROM. But the error came back many times in few days later. And sometimes the method "connect to PC with cable" didn't work.
When feeling hopeless, i left the phone alone in some days and the screen suddenly works.
And now it has just turned back again and i dont know if it will be back or i must have it repair. (There is no warranty service for HTC in my country.)
Thanks for reading, i know that my English is terrible.
Check the backlight adjustment. As ridiculous as it may sound, with a rom I had it sometimes went to zero light on its own. Plug it and make sure that all settings are to maximum light, with the automatic function disabled, and see if it happens again.

This happened to me once and I removed battery and left phone overnight. In the morning I insertedbattery again and problem hasn't materialised since.
However, if your issue keeps returning it looks like you would need to get phone fixed under warranty as it sounds like a loose connection between motherboard & LCD screen

Yeah but the fact that sometimes plugging the device to USB brings it back sounds like software to me. Anyway, I hope you find a way to fix it!

So sad, the issue occurs again when i need to make an important call. It drives me crazy because i were on the street and i must went to a post office. Then i realized that i do not remember the phone number.
I must get it fixed at weekend then i may sell it away. I'm dreaming of HTC Leo but maybe i will come back to my old iPhone 2G until Leo's price drops.
Thanks all for your help and listening.
Sorry to hear of your problems
If it was me, I would send the phone away on warranty and just use your iphone in the mean time.

I'm sorry, but I think you have the same problem I had, the only solution was to send it to Tech center.
Take a look at this post (in french cause, i'm french ^^) http://htc-touch-hd.forumactif.biz/problemes-hardware-f6/sav-ici-on-parle-du-sav-t4061.htm

I live in Vietnam, as i known there is no HTC warranty service in Vietnam. I bought this phone on a trip to USA. Base on your experience, i think i may pay a lots to fix it in VN. I will bring it to a repair shop at weekend and ask for the cost.
Ha ha, bad luck for me.
Hey there. I have my Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) for about a month, and since a couple of days ago it has been behaving very weirdly about USB and charging.
First of all, the phone thinks it has USB connected at all times. When I go to the settings menu try to enable mass storage it says USB is already connected, even though it isn't!!!
Sometimes when I start the phone it goes to that USB Kies screen and says "connected", when absolutaly no cables are connected AT ALL!!!
When I turn the cell off, remove the battery and plug it back in, without turning the phone on, the recharging battery icon appears, but blinks with a drained battery icon with a yellow exclamation sign and a thermometer which I sincerely have no idea what that means.
It also takes ages to recognize the power charger or when I really connect the USB cable. And finally, when I take them off, it also takes a while to "perceive" they're off and remove the charging lightning from the battery icons.
PRETTY PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT, as I don't have time to take the phone to service, and didn't really want to do that
Thanks!!!
This has also happened to me and loads of other SGS2 users! Although usually it only happens sporadically and not constantly. It seems that it's a bad soldering job or dust/dirt has gathered in the microUSB port. You might be able to fix it, if you're *really* careful.

Last night my phone wouldn't even start charging, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. With the smallest screwdriver I could find, I carefully 'lifted' the tiny PCB in the USB jack while blowing in at the same time. Sure enough, some sand particles fell out, and I haven't gotten carmode'd in nearly 13 hours now. Previously it would do it once every 15 minutes. So far so good, it seems.

Thanks for the help... but what is PCB? Is it the connector inside the "hole"?
Tried that and it stopped thinking USB was connected the whole time... on the other hand, it doesn't detect when I connect the USB cable
Lets try keeping 1 thread

You can't talk on plural when you only point out one thread. And I've read that, but it isn't the same as my phone doesn't go in "car mode".
My phone's problem only resembled a problem JaX3RiR briefly mentioned in the middle of the thread.
I tried googling it before posting anything anywhere, but couldn't find anything useful.
Please don't try to look like a smartass like that and embarrass yourself. If you got nothing to add to the thread, it's best if you sit out of it. It's much more appreciated when helpful people like JaX3RiR post...
Hi,had the same problem, tried reflashing back to original firmware, but still had the same problem,,the only way i could boot the phone was through recovery mode,(reboot)Had to send phone back for possible repair??cut a long story short they sent me a new phone,,They said they couldnt repair the fault, something to do with the usb charging system,,So i would advise anyone with this specific problem,to send phone back, and get a replacement..hope you get it solved
Thanks mate, I sent mine today as well... I hope they act the same with me, as I'm afraid customer service around here always tries to incriminate the user not to use the warranty...

There is no reason to be angry, I'm just trying to help, and just wanted that we all post in one thread, so it would be easier to track later.
I just posted longest thread. Here is another one if it helps to justify:

I'm pretty sure you have the same problem. Sometimes Vlingo starts, sometimes phone thinks its charging, when trying to boot it shows battery image and won't boot, can boot only recovery and do restart from there.
Get of the high horse when people are trying to help you.
Are you sure you didn't connect USB cable upside down or bended USB port with the cable?
I have no idea what Vlingo is, and obviously I didn't connect the USB cable upside down. I don't think I bended the port with the cable since it still recognizes the cable for charging or booting and going directly into Kies mode, for example.
I am not on any high horse when people try to help me, as you could see my response towards the guys above. Your post wasn't sounding helpful at all, you were just sounding like "hey, you dumass noobie, don't open a new thread for yourself, check the forums first".
By the way, I also took a look at that thread you posted before posting mine, but I have no idea what is "car mode" on my phone...
Sorry if I sounded rough. I thought it is similar issue, so I posted link to longer thread. I had this issue myself.
Peace. Let us know what the service say .
This happened to me one week ago while on holiday....that temp indicator while charging plus the other stuff you mention....
Plus the phone went into flight mode and won't come out....
Got home and did a reset and phone now doesn't recognise sim card...
great phone but I'm a little disappointed

Hello,
Had the same problems aswell, only mine had a bunch of other problems aswell:
When I shut down my mobile it restarts itself and then shows a yellow exclamation mark with an tempgage. Only way to turn on my phone is to connect it with the charger, turn of my phone again, remove the charger and then the phone turned itself on again but without the temp gage.
My phone also thinks its charging when it is not, and when I am actually charging it, its not charging.
Also my PC does not recognize my phone so I am not able to update it.
I have also sent my phone for a repair, I will keep you guys posted.
greets from the netherlands
Yep, mine only got fixed by going into service. It got its mainboard warranty switched.
T- Mobile sent me a replacement phone
They seemed to know the symptoms when I explained what was happening
Same fault for me. Mainboard replaced, works fine now.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
How did you guys get it fixed? Did you have to ship the phone out somewhere? How long did you have to wait to get it back? What was the process?
Thanks.
Mine is going to be repaired in two weeks.
I was the 8th SGS2 since tuesday which came in the repair center.
The repair guy said it is a manifacturing fault.
The phone gets hots, and outside temperature is cold, so it makes moisture in the phone.
This cause the phones power management to get fu up (SGS2 has a small battery inside of it, and that gets fu up). Only fix is replace hardware, but 9 of 10 times Samsung gives the fault to the customer. They say it has water damage and can't be fixed in warrenty...
I'm going to write a huge article about it, and I hope it will get published by a lot of site's soon. Phones he admitted having the problem: SGS1, SGS2 and SGSN.
I charged my GS2 2x by USB and it's discharged faster than by the sector
The USB power isn't enough for charge up the GS2 correctly
Are you guys suffering from rapid battery discharging, i have all of the above symptons but my battery drains within hours...I`ve even bought a brand new battery off ebay that is exacly the same issues... I`d like to send it back to O2 but i`ve rooted and flashed custom firmware...
Hi guys i have problem
The phone works fine in all it's features but the charging system is faulty, for me to charge it up I have to follow a 20 second procedure which is to switch the phone off, insert the charging cable, when the screen comes on wait for the green charging battery then switch the phone on, then once it's fully charged you have to switch it off before unplugging it only to switch it back on again and I have to do this otherwise the phone crashes and freezes,
I have had this problem since having it due to a dodgy sale...
Is it poss. to fix this ?
Thnx
Replace USB board/port. Either get it done under warranty, or you can do it yourself quickly/easily/cheaply for ~US$15 (maybe even less) if you prefer.

Hi. Hope someone could kindly help me!
My Note 3 is not turning off the lock screen. Its always on!!. If I press the power button the lock screen comes on, after few seconds it quickly flickers (like its trying to close) but turns on again. Its ongoing loop. I have resetted it dozen of times, factory reset now as well but issue remains. I just cant turn the screen off!
It also doesnt want to charge all the time. Is this a USB port issue? I hate to think I need to send it to EE for repairs as its over 1,5 years old and will take at least 2 weeks I think... (cost?)....

Hai,,
Samsung have 2 year warranty within Europe and I dont know outside of Europe, sorry.
But for the phone, if you know that phone havnt been water damaged there shouldn't be any problem, (ALOT) of the Note 3 is water damaged today so be careful with that...same goes if your phone is rooted, could end up paying for the repairs instead.
Phonewise: Broken PBA/powerbutton and a bad USB port..
Hi Im in UK.
However there is absolutely no water damage at all. Its been very well cared for, it looks like brand new including the screen. Thanks

Best would be then to find an authorized samsung service center and either call them and explain your problem or just send the phone to them.
And make sure to have your warranty paper near hand. They might ask for it ://

Hi. Yes tried without the lockscreen - same issue. Also with another Lockscreen,,, with no help. The screen just doesnt turn off!
Wonder if its a hardware issue - eg usb port? I tried to clean it the best I can, but doesnt help.
As said Samsung offer a limited 24 months warranty .
But root or custom roms etc will void .
The vendor EE is an alternative but under Sale Of Goods Act you will have to prove that the product should have lasted longer etc via an engineers report .
Hi all
This is what I done. I took the Note 3 to Samsungs repair centre. Shortly: they said they probably need change the usb port and screen and will be done by end of day. No calls nothing. Next day I pop in they say its not been done as there is water damage!!! They show pics of corrosion inside the phone, I believe and leave. They quoted fix it outside warranty to £180.
I go to ebay and bought a new usb port for less than fiver. Changed it today, was 15min job. The phone charges ok I think now, but the screen still not turning off!!! Im gutted.
Interestingly I didnt see any sign of that corrosion when replacing the usb... hmmm... cheeky Samsung repair guys? The phone never seen water, believe me.
Any ideas whats next... I cant afford a new phone or buy new screen.
Thanks
Water damage is part of the repair check list and immediately voids warranty .
Not much you can do if you cannot buy a screen .
Plus water damage may be internal damage and not the screen at all .
I do agree with what you say of course. However I never dropped the phone in water. I did buy the explanation of shower mist or something if the phone was nearby, they showed me pics they took inside of the phone: however when open it up this morning I didnt see any of the corrosion. Have I been tricked or am I blind... :/
