Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but since I upgraded to WM6 two days ago I dont get any notifications that I have voicemails (e.g. the usual voicemail icon appearing at the top of the screen). Instead I recieve the coded text messages that are usually hidden by the phone that are sent from the voicemail service.
Is there anyway to get this to behave normally again as I have missed several voicemails now as I don't know what "[email protected]" means

Hello, I´m trying to kill by code the notification popup bubble that is shown when you receive a new sms message, just inmediatly when it appears
Is it possible ??
Thanks in advance
This is a problem that the SMS app should clean up. Basically, the sms notification messages tell the phone to do things. For example the message to turn on the new SMS indicator is a blank text message with a subject of
Voice Mail
From
"Voice Mail System" . <[email protected]>
The SMS application should delete it afterward. After Talking to a smart guy from T-mobile Wireless Data group I also learned that this is a function of the Glenair voicemail system. Some upgrades cause it to send these messages as I did NOT get them in the past on my Nokia 8290. Some handsets do this automatically apparently or maybe its just something new.
Of course I may be totally wrong...
other imput appreciated.

There`s a key in the registry (HCUK/Software/Microsoft/SMS/Protocols/..) in which is defined which Application should start when a SMS arrives, standard is /windows/tmail.exe - if you change this key(s), you can redirect the SMS to other programms and the POPups are away. But be carefull: If the Application in the key don`t handle the SMS, the SMS-Text are "lost in space".
Hope that helps al little bit? ;o)

This notification you mention is specific to T-Mo and does only that, wake up. I have tried to kill this little run many times with no avail. For some reason the 2003 OS's except 4.00.10 do not have this as a default. I did not do a system snap in between upgrades, wish I did then I could finally tell what little bastard does this and kill it in future versions if I or other US users are happy being notified only once instead of twice by two different methods that they have a flippin' Voicemail
On MDA there's an Option to turn off the Bubble (but there's also an envelope on top of the screen.
Start->Settings->Sounds&Notifications->Notifications->Post: New SMS
If you remove the hook on "Show Message" further on there is no bubble again

Hey all,
So I did a search for this and didn't find it, but if I am stupid and just missed it, I appologize in advance.
When I get a voicemail, the notification pops up and I hit dismiss. The notification still stays on the 'desktop' and I can't get to the notiifcation of the missed call.
Is there anyway to actually dismiss the notification of voicemails and reverse the order so that missed calls notification comes up (so that I know who left the possible voicemail)?
Thank you for your help.

you need to tap on the voicemail icon at the tome bar (on the right next to start menu) - this will bring up an extended menubar which you can then tap on the missed calls icon.
or press call button to goto the phone, use the menu opton to view call history.
Yeah, I know of that meathod, but is there anyway to make it the missed call the first default notification?
And also, is there anyway to truly dismiss the notification but let the voicemail notificatin stay up top? On a normal phone, it says you have a voicemail and it lets you use your phone normally after that, not insisting on you checking the voicemail.
Thanks for all your help.
I second the issue!
This is especially severe when one is in Europe and has no intention of checking voicemail until returning to the states (or vice versa, I suppose). I have several times checked voicemail from overseas just to get rid of the notification.
Apparently, the Cingular 8525 (Hermes) has the same issue. I've opened an official ticket with Cingular/HTC and will be posting the replies. I guess this is a WM5 issue, since WM6 fixes the bug. But since there's not official upgrade that fixes the bug, I will stay on their asses until they do. However, since I don't have a Cingular 8125 (Wizard), I can't pursue a fix for that model. Who knows, maybe a patch will fix both models. Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299865
Hi Folks,
Has anybody else has a problem with 'ghost' voicemail icon in the Status Bar (the icon showing when there are no new Voicemail Messages). It only happens occasionally, mainly after SMS or emails are received.
Also, this may seem like a silly question - How do you turn the alarm off!?! I press the 'drop call' in the bottom right which stops the noise, but the icon still sits in the status bar!
Thanks in Advance!
Are you using your phone on Orange UK? I ask this because I am, and a couple of my Orange phones in the past have had this "problem". In every case, I have been able to get rid off this by calling Orange Customer Service on 150, then going through the myriad of voice menus to actually speak to someone concerning a Voice Mail problems, they can "refresh the voicemail settings" on their systems. This usually solves the problem. Hope it helps for you.
(Obviously if you're NOT with Orange UK, whoever your service provider is should be able to assist you in a similar way. Years ago when I was with Cellnet (that gives you a clue how long ago it was!) and Vodafone, they didn't use the voicemail icon, they used to just send you a text - I don't know if this is still the case or not.
Solution
I've just got this problem tonight. I couldnt get rid of the voicemail icon or that i had a voice message. what i did to get rid of it was phoned my phone from another and left a message. called voicemail, listened to message and deleted. the icon has now dissapeared.
Thanks to both of you for the solutions - I found frustin's to be the quickest option and save my time asking the Orange Call Centre to help. Annoying problem though!
Has any body else got the same problem as me. when ever somebody leaves me a voicemail the phone doesnt show voicemail notification, unless i soft reset, then as soon as the phone boots i get the notification. its the same when i've listened to and deleted the message, the notification will not go until i soft reset.???? i'm on the orange network and tried all the different cabs and regedits that i can find to fix the problem but no luck yet!!!
There are two ways of voicemail notification. One is a normal SMS from your mailbox. The other is a system message shown on the top of the screen. Many providers only support the SMS notification.
Hi all, anyone else with a UK Desire Z having voice mail icon trouble? Mine wont show up and I get no voicemail notification either...running Launcher Pro.
Good question. I hadn't thought about it. What's meant to show up for that on Android ?
I get a text message saying I've got a voicemail, but no specific extra icon.
I get a voicemail alert icon on top, and when I drag down there's a notification about a voicemail -- tap on that and it calls my voicemail number.
(I was hoping there was a widget icon that would show number of waiting voicemails, but no...)
I wonder if this is carrier-specific, e.g. that the carrier has to send out the correct message to the phone to tell it there's a voicemail ?
Thinking about how this worked on my previous WinMo phone (using the same carrier, Vodafone UK), it was the same - i.e. on that and my DZ I get a text tell me I've got a new voicemail, but on neither phone do I get an actual voicemail icon popping up.
Could be -- the specific text I see in my notification is "New voicemail(1)" (with the number reflecting the nuimber of waiting voicemails)
