Q1: What processor is used for Trinity (ARM, MIPS or SH3) ?
Q2: What causes doubled icons in Programs - when i installed ICQ two icons appeared in my programs menu: "ICQ" and "ICQ (1)". How can i fix this ?
Q3: Is there any equivalent for "regedit" for mobile phones ?
Thanks in advance.

2. Sounds you like you might already have it installed? Older version perhaps?

I meant perhaps you had two versions of ICQ installed. But at any rate, if you just want to delete one of the duplicate icons for ICQ, you won't need to edit the registry.
tap Start -> Programs -> open File Explorer -> navigate to the Windows folder -> Start Menu -> Programs. Now, delete the duplicate.

PHM Registry Editory does definitely work. You need to choose the one for you device.
I've attached the one you need.
Awesome --- PC (exe) autoinstaller does not work i.e. does not pick the right version and i didn't know what the abbreviatures mean (mrln, jup, wyv)
I will risk to get very annoying but i will ask You just one more question.
Can You recommend me antivirus program for this device?

I can't suggest anything from personal experience. I haven't bothered with any antivirus for my device. However, I have heard some positive things about "avast!". Here's a link to theirs. It looks like you can try it out for a couple months.
i'll try it.
Thanks ... You've been very kind.
No problem. I'm glad to help.

Hi,
I recently installed 'Kick off slot machine' game on my XDA mini s and when i go to 'remove programs' it wont remove it. I've tried soft reseting.
How can i get rid of it?
Can i just go into file explorer and delete the files in its program folder?
yes but u would be better off removing the reg entries aswell allthough it wont cause harm.
tried removing using active sync , add remove programs , as sometimes that works for me where the one on the device does not work.
I have found that quite often uninstalls just don't work. For example, before I resorted to a recent hard reset, I had only a few megs of RAM available. Turns out it was because although it "appeared" that such things had been uninstalled, they had in fact not been uninstalled.
The way I do it now, and I reckon this is the only way to do it, is to go to Add/Remove programs in Activesync and uncheck the box of the app/game to be removed. This seems to work (even on apps installed by CAB or on other machines).

Ok thanks.
By the way, how do you find and delete reg entries? Which folder are they stored in?
Use SK Tools, it is the best soft for cleaning and everything
-www.s-k-tools.com
You'll need something like PHM Regedit, or I use Total Commander. I'm no expert but you'll be able to get help with registry keys etc here.
Alternatively, purchase MemMaid which (I think) removes redundant registry entries.
Oh ok, thanks very much.
Just one more quick question, if you install something, remove it, then decide you want it installed again does it just overwrite the previously created reg entries?
does it just overwrite the previously created reg entries

I was using this amazing application but after it's installation i was unable to uninstall any program from "Add/Remove Programs". Not even S-K Tools. The only solution was a hard reset. Do you have anything on mind for this issue?
P.S: The version i was using: 2.2.10
Yes, developer knows about this, he said, new version fixed.
I have ver.2.3.15.6 and tested, good things, Backup is working in WM5.

Hi, was wondering does it backup contacts and have you tried restoring after hard reset?
Yes, I did. The only one problem, SK Tools made funny records about
installed software, so in the list, You have only what was installed after
You installed SK Tools. I think it was already fixed, but didn't test it.
thanks fresh123breeze,
think i'll go for it. its not a lot to pay for what it claims it can do.
I have been using a small utility to SHOWS MY PHONE NUMBER on the today screen AND SWITCH SIMS. The utility has a 15 day trial. This software was "modded" to work in WM5. The official version only works in 2003SE. While it works OK in WM5, there are many bugs. Unfortunately, the company no longer is working on this utility, so no WM5 compatibility.
What I did was install the utility. The 15 days counts down. After 15 days it stops working. Very normal.
Because I need this utility, I want to install and reinstall it. Here is what I tried to do:
1) I installed a clean ROM. Made a registry backup using SKTools right away.
2) Installed utility
3) When 15 days is up, I uninstall
4) Tried restore original registry using SKTools
5) Reinstall utility
Unfortunately, the utility is still expired. How can this be? Normally, a program puts "keys" in the registry to indicate status. If I restore the registry to before the utility was ever installed, all traces of the utility SHOULD BE gone. What else can the utility be reading that is not unstalled? Another registry somewhere? Am I missing something?
Please help because I do use this and would buy it if it was ever made to work with WM5 by the developer. Until then I have to find a work around.
Thanks for any help.
Could the begining date from which the countdown started have been imbedded in the software at the time of the download from the website to your PC?

I don't think so, because if I flash a new ROM and install the software, it goes back to 15 days trial. I don't want to reflash my ROM every 15 days. So it must be reading the original install date from somewhere other than the registry. Any ideas where?

You only need to make a WinDiff comparison - or, use SKTracker. I've published a complete tutorial on this: http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=215073
Nevertheless, it's not only the Registry that can hold such files / info, but als the file system (mostly under \Windows) and the WinCE databases.

Sure you can - just keep track of what has been changed upon installation / first start. SKTracker is an excellent tool in this respect.
Hi,
What's the difference between ROM and Extended ROM on Athena device?
How to look at their content?
Thanks.
ROM is the main operating system, extended rom is hidden but download total comander and type in '/Extended_ROM' to access there you will find all the programs installed by default and as such you can delete the ones you dont need like blackberry tmob settings of home pages on internet explorer and add your own so when you do need a hard reset it will install all your fave progs

Does the Extended ROM need to be unlocked like the Unverisal?
I just did a hard reset and now Opera doesn't work (same problem as thread ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307645&highlight=Opera+launch). It sounds like the program CAB is in the Extended ROM, but I am unable to see it either. With my universal the Extened Rom had to be unlocked. I'm not sure is that the same with my HTC X7500. Anyone know?
Thanks.
I think the correct input is "\extended_rom" (without the quote). It should work.
Ollisshop, you should be able to go the entended rom and reinstall opera. First, the generic opera, then the customized opera cab.
I have just downloaded Beta 2.5 - is this the latest? I can't delete anything from extended rom - does it need unlocking, if so, how?
Thanks
PS - appologies for noob questions, I am learning!

Wow it worked. This took me hours on my Universal to figure out. You guys are great.
Now with all this extra time, I'm also going to install NetFront and compare it to Opera.
Hey ive had audio working until i started installing a heap of applications, now I dont get any audio at all, not even startup audio
originally thought it was the SRS WOW HD but turns out it wasnt that as that is now removed and audio still isnt working. is there anyway i can get all the cab files for my applications and serials etc or fix this with out a hard reset?
One tip I can give you......uninstall the applications (assume you kept the cab files on your PC) and install again one by one.....and see which one causes the trouble.....is some work but a safe route....

Edit: also on startup there is an app called VoiceCommand located at /windows/VoiceCommand.exe that failes to start each time the phone boots and asks me to reinstall but im unsure what it was installed with..
Hello,
No you can not delete these registry entries!!!
Apparently you installed 2 programs SRS WOW HD and Microsoft voice command. You can delete these programs via start/settings/system/remove programs.
And install again one by one.

Hola, the remove qtc cab is so you can change the icons for some of the programs..., but for your QuickLinks issue, please check your registry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
There you have 0 - 8 meaning the values and keys for all 9 quicklinks ;-)
Check them and see if two (2) of these are corrupt.... If so, then check the entries of the good ones and adjust the "bad" ones
Probably some flunked or failed instal that screwd up, or what else did you instal?
What ROM are you running? Stock? If it is a custom ROM, inform your chef

Yes, in registry should be 9 files from 0-8, but the file number 2 is missing at all. That is probably the problem. I just don't know how to add a "file 2" manually, because I don't know ContactFavorType. The rest of values should be ok..
It was caused by some error during uninstalling of a official Facebook application distributed via Marketplace. So on the position 2 (file 2 in the regitry) was Facebook, but right now there is nothing:-D
