A2DP Bluetooth Problem - P3600 General

Hello
I have my p3600 now for three weeks it's perfect but when i use my motorola 820 stereo headset (trough bluetooth ) A high tone is on the backgrond .
I have HTweakc and tried all four types and the high tone wont go away

I personally find that a2dp is best after I've deleted all a2dp settings in the registry, then soft reset.

Thank's bbobeckyj
But where can I vind this registry I don't know wat to look for.

The new dopod rom (the updated one) seems to have fixed my A2DP issues

I my experience trying different roms on both the trinity and the wizard, deleting the whole A2DP folder has produced the best results. I assume that the headset also is a big performance difference for everyone. I think that once you delete that folder, the settings automatically self regulate to the best/optimum.

Hi m8, are u sure you mean the WHOLE of the A2DP folder? Surely it's just the "Settings" sub-folder, as the parent seems to contain device specific data for the headset(s) you have paired?
Even so, I totally agree with the principal... delete all from the "Settings" sub-folder and the A2DP is DEFINITELY giving the optimal quality stereo! (Remember to let the two devices skip etc. a tiny bit when u first kick off a song/media file as they have to be allowed to auto-negotiate the optimal connectivity settings between PDA and Headset... but once that is done, it's pure joy all the way!!)
Cheers, Moz.

Yep. It is the whole A2DP folder. After I pair a headset afterwards, if I look into the registry again, the A2DP folder has been created, with only the settings folder in that. Which confirms that the ppc and headset can create their own optimal settings.
ie
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings

a2dp setting
i have problems with it too.
look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303657
i have now removed the reg setting like you said above. now i have stereo, but the quality is less. i don't like it.
before i had set the quality to highest and joint stereo. i prefer quality above stereo.
its not stereo, but most of the time i only use one earphone. so i dont mind if it's not stereo sound.

I'm curious, what was your prroblem before? did it skip/pause often? I record all my music with the lowest possible bitrate, so quality is not so much an issue to me. maybe the sound is poor because that is the best your hardware can properly support(?)
either way, can you not you not use the tweak prog to use mono?

Alright
I have deleted the settings folder the high tone looks to be les but I am stil working on it.
I can stil not understand it what went wrong ,I had the Imate jam with The A2dp patch from HTC it was perfect ,you would think that they make it better the next time but it's les .

it had a high pitch in it, high bitrate and stereo at the same time gives sound problems.
so, or a lower bitrate, or no stereo was for me the solution.
meanwhile, i switched to INDIGO WM6. haven't tried BT stereo headset.
but thats another subject. see trinity mobile 6 sub-forum...

heyz i cant find this registry! i'm a noob here. how exactly do i find this registry to delete? lets say from my pda, i go file explorer, then wat?
i'm having the sound loss problem by the way

you need a registry editor on your pda, use google to find one, i used the shareware version of SKtools, if you use the find option it works fine.(shareware was only up to show six lines in registry)
hope it helps.

okay, erm, searching for bluetooth doesnt show me HKLM (local machine). The closest is HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth. and no A2dp folder

Bluetooth Mono Headset + Redirect sound to it (cab)

Hi!
I've been reading a lot of these forums about activating A2DP with a mono-bluetooth headsets, and found (in different places) some different ways, (change a couple of registry settings and with some pocket pc/headset one had to change a file called BTAGExt.dll)
I have made a CAB file for these hacks and also included the file "BTAGExt_new.dll" I call it _new because I change the registry to locate this new file instead of the old, that way one doesn't have to overwrite the dll file and can, if problems occur, change in the registry instead. The file is needed for some (me included) that are having trouble with music playing in the headset for about 10seconds.
Anyway, i have made a self-installing cab file for this, so that other people may use it easily, without need of hacking the registry, one does not need to use btaudioon and similar program to make this work,
EDIT: AS many people pointed out, here are the instructions to USE this , sorry for that:

It is nice to see my little hack being used
BE AWARE:
*VoiceCommand DOESN'T WORK!! (since my cab disables it in favour of all-sound in headset)
*I take NO RESPONSIBILITY if this crashes your phone or anything else, USE IT AT OWN RISK!
* It only changes this things:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:00000000
"BitPool"=dword:0000003a
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:00000050
"MinSupportedBitPool"=dword:0000000e
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Builtin\BtA2dpSnd]
"Priority256"=dword:0000003c
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchApEnable"=dWord:1
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dWord:15180
And copies this file: BTAGExt_new.dll to \Windows (or whatever windows dir you have)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"=string:"BTAGExt_new.dll"
Then do a soft-reset and voila, the sound should work.!
This worked great with my X01HT and Motorola HS850.
I used this too with my Sony HBH-60 bluetooth mono headset and it worked perfectly for me too .
Much better for listening to podcasts while in bed!
(no more strangling myself with earphone wires! )

Hi,
How do you revert to the initial situation (what are the original registry settings ?)
Thanks

I am not sure, but I belive that if you uninstall it it should go "back" to normal.
otherwise, the "normal" would be
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:00000001
"BitPool"=dword:0000003a (this setting just changes the soundquality)
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:00000050 (this too delete if not wanted)
"MinSupportedBitPool"=dword:0000000e (and this, delete if not wanted)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Builtin\BtA2dpSnd]
"Priority256"=dword:0000003c (delete if not wanted, better quality)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchApEnable"=dWord:1 (KEEP!)
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dWord:15180 (change to 30seconds or whatever, dword:30)
And copies this file: BTAGExt_new.dll to \Windows (or whatever windows dir you have) (delete this file!)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"=string:"BTAGExt_new.dll" (change to BTAGExt.dll)

Thank you very much.
I use the audio to bluetooth feature with skype as it would otherwise send the sound to the loudspeaker, which, in a public place is not really convenient.
Now, with the code to "on" the sound and the code to"off" it, maybe there would be a simple way to create an app which would toggle from one state to the other? would you know how to do that ? alternatively, is there some kind of scripting tool for the ppc that I could use ?
thanks in advance,
papex
perfect it s work good for me with tytn and HS850

Interestingly, this makes A2DP to transfer everytig in mono on my other MS BT stack-based devices, as has also been pointed out in my related article - are you sure this is the original value?

I believe that it is, at least on my device, but I may be wrong, it was long since I did my cab file. so not 100% sure no,
I was as curios as you, could it be that it uses mono to save bandwith? and thereby increase the range of the bluetooth?
but hey, I am no expert, I roughly took reghacks from around this forum and put together a cab file, I tried to make the cab to produce the best sound availible to a monoheadset, and nothing more, nothing less.
as it were a couple of weeks ago I since I did this i don't really remember every detail of it, but I believe most of this is stated in the hermes_wiki
I have not installed this yet and have a question. If I'm listening to my Slingbox through my Nokia 900 headset and get a phonecall, will it automatically switch to the phone call or do I have to stop Slingbox? Thanks

it should switch to the phonecall (mine does anyway) however!! Be aware that the sound will be outputted to speaker when the call ends!
Mic on bluetooth headset
I wanna know if I installed this file to use something like Skype, can I not only hear the sound from my Bluetooth headset but also speak through the headset too?
How do I get back to normal?
Hoping someone could help me out. I tried installing the file above. The installation process went well, but immediately following the soft reset, I noticed that my phone screens and response to menu picks was considerably slower. My phone locks up all of the time, and I am unable to toggle the bluetooth on and off. I tried to uninstall the application, but I get a message at the end saying that it was unable to completely remove the program. Wondering if anyone could help me to get to the registry and change the settings back to normal. HELP!!!!
Works for Vodafone 1605 with factory rom
thanks
Thank you for the cab/hacks. None of the other alternatives worked on my 8525. Now if someone could incorporate this into someway to switch between modes, that would be great. Right now, I install and uninstall the cab several times a day! I get nervous that the registry will get corrupt from all of the install/uninstalls.
Thank you very much!
Hi!
thanks for all the appreciation about my cab! I am happy to see that others are using it and are happy about it
I also noticed that some people has problems with it,
dhenry88: Try and install it again, otherwise, try and revert the setting yourself, I posted the "original" settings a some time ago in this thread, so go get a reg-editor and hack it
because that is all the cab-file does, changes registry (and copies a file to /windows/system32
however, this file is not important for the os itself (because I change the registry to find the changed file, not changing the file and overwriting the original.
but sorry to hear that it had such bad performance on your phone, it shouldn't do anything like that, but hey, every phone is different.

Indeed this is a great little program and I'm very thankful for it. Like lantern, I think it would be great if someone could figure out a way to switch modes easily as I'm unable to initiate a voice call through my Bluetooth headset with this program installed. I too have to install/uninstall the cab many times each day. I’m certainly not complaining, just expressing a wish.

TomTom custom POI voices

Just a note to let anyone know that may not know already, over at PocketGPSWorld they've discovered that you can have custom POI warning sounds/voices by simply placing an .ogg sound file in the same folder as the .ov2 and .bmp file, provided the .ogg is named exactly the same as the .ov2.
For example if you have gatso_20.ov2, you would name the sound file gatso_20.ogg.
This saves messing about with data.chk, and AFAIK this also doesn't count towards the limit of custom sounds you can have.
Very handy to have a voice saying, for example, "Warning, speed camera ahead, speed limit 30mph" rather than that annoying alarm sound!
Ray's TomTom site has some nice free .ogg voice downloads (http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html), or you can record your own.
See http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=47366
Just to add that I have tried these and there are some available from the article.
They work a treat, but I found them too quiet on my Wizard.
Just a quick addition to the instructions, anyone that has pound it a pain in the arse to set them all up will find that they will have to go through them all again and leave the settings as they are. You will find that it now no longer asks you which sound you want.
Here's the ****ty bit. I took them off because I found them quiet and I expected TT to go back to the settings prior to installing the voices - Nope, I had to go through them all again from scratch.
Just a bit of advice.

Wireless Stereo Switch (or other solution)

Once my Bluetooth Headset is connected to my Prophet, all my notification sounds come through my Bluetooth Headset instead of the phone speaker.
The sound for normal incoming call works as it should though (through the speaker).
The only way i've found how to solve this problem, is to uncheck the "Wireless Stereo" option under:
Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > i.Tech Clip R35 > Partnership Settings
And then when I want to listen to music through the Windows Media Player, I have to do the opposit.
So, my two questions...
1. Is there a way to map notification sounds to always use the phone's speaker? (or)
2. Is there a small shortcut / Today-plugin that can switch "Wireless Stereo" on/off in one click?
Cheers!
Eric

Thanks Hybrid, unfortunatly this was a bit wrong...
It seems that this program routed the sounds to the Bluetooth Headset if I wouldn't have "Wireless Stereo".
Hence; it had its functionality when I turned off "Wireless Stereo".
The solution was in the right direction though, but not really right...
BIG note though: It messed up the sound on my normal "Wireless Stereo" mode. So the sound now has a distortion as well.
Ehm but i remember there a software which did the same like btaudio with stereo headsets, but this one costs money. You just have to google, cause i dont remember the name

I found one called BlueMusic: http://www.teksoftbluemusic.com
Could that be the one you're refering to?
BlueMusic unfortunatly got about 99 functions that are more or less useless, packaged in a big memory overhead with nice graphics.
I just wanted the simple on/off switch...
ADD:
I'm running WM6, that's probably why most of BlueMusic's feature are superfluous.
My father got an Aus P535; when he uses the bluetooth headset, an icon is displayed on top, near "start": by clicking that icon, it is possible to redirect or not notification sounds to the headset... I didn't try that on the prophet, but I hope this can help you. bye

Guys, been trying out a few things on mine AMEO qith BT8010's, it would appear that two reg entries are modified when turning on/off wireless audio.
I have attahced two reg export files bton.txt for audio on and btoff.txt for audio off.
if you look at lines 23 and 61 these are the values the executable will need to toggle. I dont have enough knowledge to code it up but if you know how to by all means give it a try.

Is there any registry hack to make it work with BT Headsets and not just usb ones?

Well that sucks!
I've had the same problem - very irritating.
however, look up and download SRS WOW HD - install, reboot the phone.
The Audio Booster disappears from the HTC Music Player, and you have a settings option for the SRS WOW HD. It does take a bit of processor time, and a fair bit of tweaking of its options, but it does make the Dual sound quite nice.
Shame about the occasional "break" in the music though.

Yes it does, but you need Edit your Registry, too support your Blue Tooth driver.
Here a Copy from a Thread about this task:
That worked through BT headset it is necessary to copy all parameters from [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Wave Dev] in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
Except for value of parameter "OldDriver", he should be such, as was "DLL"
For example:
Before
"DLL" = "bta2dp.dll"
After
"DLL" = "WOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll"
"OldDriver" = "bta2dp.dll"

To have real stereo with your bluetooth stereo headphone you have to change the following registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings
Change the UseJointStereo value 1 to 0.
The value 1 means dual mono, value 0 means stereo
Importent ... befor you edit ... you must 100% know what is your device blue tooth driver!!! different HTC Device ... different Drivers!
Thanks alot that worked great!

That happened to me too, needed a pesky hard reset. Can anyone explain the reg changes again?
this are the reg changes and it works! if its a big problem for the most guys, i can provide a modded version for Qualcomm Devices. i need only few min. to edit.
I did a hard reset to get my phone working again. I don't know what it was that stopped the sound on my phone but I just have to make do with standard instead
Stopped? You mean the little breaks?
Oh ... this isnt a SRS WOW problem! it is possible you tweak your device with some registry settings? Breaks in the Audiostream have many reasons. the most are ...
Buffer in the Blue Tooth Stack are to high
Buffer in the File System are to high and the MicroSD Card go in the deep power down mode (this problem can you have, if you here a very large file and a big part can stay in your ram!)
you switch to the next track (this is the most reason)
process task doesnt become enough resources (possible ... )
generel powermanagment problems
all this bracks are only timing problems of many parts in your device!!!
No, not the pauses issue that others have referred to - after installing SRS WOW and making the registry changes I had no sound at all during phone calls. Music worked fine but when I called someone or when they called me then I couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear me.
I had to hard reset to fix the problem.

Did anybody succeeded with xt7500 + srs wow over bluetooth ?
at least tried myself and at the moment no progress.
Before reg keys copy BT worked well and connected with
headset. After keys copy ppc BT menu indicted that wireless stereo are'nt
avaliable.
Is it nescessary copy over also same named settings ? example
both folders have before copy same named settings, like index, etc.
Good comments appreciated.

If you added bluetooth support to SRS and lost sound (or downloaded a cab with bluetooth support builtin) you need to follow the earlier instruction warnings, namely:
Preserve your Index, Prefix, and OldDriver settings so that they match what was previously specified in your BTA2DPSND registry folder (with the contents of olddriver matching whatever was in driver).

[REQ]Bluetooth A2DP Modified lib (increase bitpool)

This thread is in response to numerous posts/requests for a fix to a bluetooth A2DP soundquality problem.
As pointed out in other posts, the libraries for Bluetooth (liba2dp.so etc.) have a setting for ‘bitpool’ which is fixed to a low value by default.
People – including myself – are experiencing 2 major issues with Bluetooth audio over A2DP protocol with default bitpool values (or so we claim) :
1) The highs tend to sound 'fuzzy' and sometimes crystalize.
2) Higher bitrate mp3s will break up as if there is a buffer problem.
As someone who produces music and owns a media company, I have a keen ear and equipment that allows me to confirm this problem at least on my end.
It should be noted that this has been brought up in various threads Eg:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16021615&postcount=664
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082220&page=2&highlight=a2dp
The purpose of this thread is to establish a genuine problem and implement a fix.
We would welcome input or any user experiences relating to the above issues.
Are we also able to determine if A2DP is piping the audio over SBC or passing MPEG audio direct to the headunit to decode which should result in much better quality.
It would be helpful if we could find some documentation on the format of the /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf file as various settings in there can help/hinder connections and audio quality a bit.
I'm all for improving the bluetooth support/quality given that I rely on it in the car for hands-free, music and navigation.
@JF-GINO You would probably have access to an oscilloscope if you're running a media company, any chance of running the output from a bluetooth connected device through that with a few sine waves to see if it is compressing/clipping the audio?
Thanks guys. I will try and send the two lib files today.
For the purposes of testing, I ask you do not try and compare the files, as obviously that could influence results...
I'll post the files in a zip and anyone interested can try
- their stock bluetooth
- file A
- file B
And make any comments they wish on quality, both absolute and relative...

As soon as we get the modded files, I can post the isolated diferences between waveforms from each as a comparison.

Yep, Unfortunately I don't have the files available until monday. If I posted links, then it would negate benefits of blind test unfortunately.
I am subscribed to this thread anyway. Remind me on Monday to get the files

Hi Pulser, knock knock
I'll be more than happy to help with this, since I bought a Bluetooth headset without searching around about any problems, and here I am, facing horrible sound quality...
Samsung Charge here
and I have the same problem. I feel like taking my phone and drive my car over it. I would do anything for a library that works on this stupid droid phone.

Yes my Master...pleassse
OK... As before, I ask that you do not try to work out the paths to these files or anything. Just try them out Then post feedback. And no hex editors, or comparing checksums... That's no fun.
File A: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SGS2/VRTweaks/a2dp/A.so
File B: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SGS2/VRTweaks/a2dp/B.so
Rename to liba2dp.so and put in /system/lib/ and reboot etc. Then comments welcomed
I've done all you said, but I'm not able to tell the differences about file A and file B, in my opinion the sound quality is the same as default liba2dp.so
Droid Charge.
I get less hesitation with A than I get with B and I think both are doing better than my current stock. I will keep testing A more.
Ok very interesting.
Tomorrow if everyone is done, I'll tell you what each file was...
Please wait until the evening I would like to test it to but unfortunately I can't download it on Android I have to go via my computer. Android shows me just a ****ed up version of the code.

You can use Opera to download the files, with stock browser and Dolphin there is no possibility.

I tried with miren but something is wrong with my phone anyway I'm not able to open websites with both browsers it stops after 2/3 of loading but apps work ok confused. Already cleared data. Maybe a full wipe solves the problem. Anyway.

So tested it a bit this morning and I think that a is clearer.
