I everybody
For few days, i try to use route66 on my spv m700 ... without success !!! everytime, the soft can't find the gps ...
I try to find the right port with VisualGPS and finally I find material port com9 with 115200 baud speed. OK. After that i have to find the programm port and i try all the possibilties ... again without success !!!
I'm sure, i have a GPS activate ROM because i can have a fix using VisualGPS, i activate the GPS icone with TrinityHacks.
And i'm sure that Route66 is ok because it's running perfectly on my Gloofish X500 ...
So maybe there's a incompatibility with M700 ???
or an Orange settings to remove ???
Or maybe i have to go back with a Nokia 3100 ....
There was some discussion about this before- it seems that Route66 can only recognise certain COM ports for GPS- and COM9 isn't one of them It won't recognise a soft COM port either so using the GPS control panel won't help.
Have you tried Route 66 Technical support- perhaps they have a fix by now? I'm sure someone said they managed to get it working..
thanks for this information ... look what i can find on Route66 support :
latest version : Version 7.0.3377
GPS: fixed GPS COM port detection for HTC 3600
UI: fixed left+right hardware key usage for Palm Treo and some other phone edition devices
fixed keyboard layout indicator for devices where no English keyboard layout is present
ACTIVATION:When no SIM card is present SMS activation will be disabled
TMC:fixed a crash when a point location has two segments
CUSTOM POIs:fixed position when assigned from location with housenumber; fixed orphan characters at the end of the string; fixed destination name when assigned as custom POI
MAP: fixed drawing of tunnels
SEARCHING: fixed button state after filtering
ROUTING: improved default speed settings
So, it's clear, i have to download this version to use it on my SPV M700 ... maybe someone made a .cab to fix this "bug" ???
I everybody ...
after fews research to find a compatible Route66 ... i decided to buy the latest version ... and ... it's working, no problem !!
Just find the right version !!

Dear Htc fellows,
My bluetooth GPS is working strange on my Universal, but on iPaq with
WM2003 works as a charm. The BT GPS is new Solar GPS with new Mediatek
chipset.
It's not working with iGo 2006 and even not Tomtom 5 or Tomtom 6.
I can find the BT GPS in BT manager, I can pair it, but I dont know why,
it needs a pass key even if it shouldn't. Then when I explore it's
services, The popup come again asking me if I will allow external BT
device to connect to my Universal and it come asking passkey again (Why?).
I can't even enter an empty passkey (bt device doesen't require it). After that I have successfully paired the device. I can add it's serial port to enumerate on com ports 8 or 4.
When I start Tomtom, it doesent detect the device at all. If I use iGo, it detects, gets datas and disappear, it's allways appeared for 1 second and then 5 seconds not. No matter Which bitrate I set (device is written to be 9600) it needs to be in NMEA protocol, not SIRF.
When I use some freeware GPS programs, it seams to be working ok, it shows satelites and it's not disappearing.
What can I do with that???
I have some idea that it's probably about WM5 and it's security....
How can I setup com security in registry? can I set the port speads manually atd... I had performed a hard reset and it still don't work. Can ROM update or AKU update help me?
Does anyone have some idea what should I try now?
O2 XDA EXEC:
Rom: 1.30.107
Radio:1.09.00
P:42.42.P8
BT GPS: model: BT 2.5MR

Could you find a solution??
Hi,
I have the same problem exactly and could not find anything on the net. Did you solve your problem?
well ...
i know that there is a problem with GPS and WM5 and so there is this patch which i install every time i hard reset .....
the guys i bought MY GPS from gave me this ... and they are pretty knowledgable .....
it works well ....
try it !
tried
My OS version is WM2003 but tried anyway.. Did not work.. can there be version for WM2003??
did you ?
did you define an outgoing com port for the device (com 4 for example ?)
com port definition
well, igo finds the device an COM 6 actually, it connects too.. but stays connected just for a second, then again and again..
I installed GPSGate and created a virtual com port 7. I manually configured the GPS receiver connection to COM 7 on igo.. But all the same.. :
do you advice another way?
one other thing the device works with navigon 5.0 and tomtom 6.0 smoothly, no problem.. only igo..
well...
IGO is CRAP ... that is well known .... lots of bugs ...
i am sorry .. i do not know how to solve your problem...
but i suggest using destinator 6 ..... (that's what i use) ....
simple ... nice looking .... big buttons and able to navigate to your contacts directly (especially useful if you have Phone Edition)
oh ... and ... works great !
I got the Holux GPSlim 236 GPS. I can pair the GPS with Universial. But I cannot set the com port at all. A pop up window always say the com port (I tried everyone of the ports) is not available.
Any one got a solution, does the GPS bug fix help ? and what does it fix ?
Might seem a bit obvious, but have you tried the code "0000" when pairing your device?
Once paired...did you define an outgoing serial port on "Bluetooth Settings" menu on your WinCE?
I have a royaltek bluetooth GPS and it's been working well with TomTom[5|6]...I use '0000' as passkey (default on many 'non-interactive' devices), once paired I clicked on 'COM Ports' tab and defined a new outgoing port, the wizard should list the GPS as an available device to create a COM port so I used it and I got a 'com0'.
Once the outgoing port was created I had to tell TomTom to use the new 'com0' and worked like a charm
It's been working since TomTom 5.21 (previous versions didn't work).
I have a serial cable gps module (navilock NL 203 P ) for blueangel and it doesn't work on my phone after i upgraded to wm 6 !!! i tryed every combination of com ports but still didn't managed to get him work. can someone help me?
Make sure you trying a free COM port. (Verify settings in GPS applet)
and perform several softreset until it gets working

my blueangel excellent working with serial Royaltek GPS
one tipp:
check the Beam, control the checkbox
serilal GPS working only COM1 > default infra port
After 2 days trying to make tomtom get a fix with me new (bougth used) Trinity without success, I installed GpsInfo to try to understand what was gps sending torough its comunicactions chanel (NMEA/COM9/4800), and found following:
It seems that NMEA sentences are sent 'without data', something like :
$GPGGA,,,,,,,,0,,,,,,*66
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53
$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*32
$GPGSV,1,1,00*79
On other pda, between every comma, there is a data/number, that I assume is the info thata the gps is sending....
For me it seems that gps has lost it´s configuration and is not able to send NMEA data, but it is working because I receive NMEA Start/End heads.
Is this assumption correct ???
If so anyone knows If gps chip(s) can be diagnosticated/reconfigured/reprogramated ??
P.S. It was bought with WM5 and Radio 1.38.
I've insttaled Radio 1.50 and WM 6.140 (Niax) and sympthoms are the same.
Any hint ???
Thanks
sorry i dont know the technical aspects of your question as far as reprogramming the gps but i do know that unless i have the following selected i dont get gps in any programs:
settings -> systems -> external gps ->
programs
gps program port : com2
hardware
hardware : com9
baud : 115200
access
manage gps automatically (yes, checked)
you might already have done this but i wanted to cover the first step before you go then, tell tomtom to look in com port 2. i also bought a used trinity with wm5 and no gps but those settings was all it took and now it works. good luck!

Trying to reproduce your config, tomtom says 'No Gps available'.
I assume you are configyring 'another NMEA GPS' and com2.
What velocity have you selected in tomtom?
thats funny ...
i think a have the problem ... its possible to navigate with tt but in the tt gps settings everytime he says no gps device but there is a connection. shown to me by the coordinates and like i said its possible to navigate. if i set up the gps new in tt there he detects the nmea gps successful but only 4 maybe 2 seconds. then its again no gps device ... sry 4 bad englisch ... any solution?
edit: well tt show me flight mode all time ... !
Hi
I just flashing my cruise with the new official HTC Rom(French).
Now my gps won't work anymore. Everytime i setup my GPS port(com1-com9)in parameter "External GPS", the parameter are not saved.
Tomtom say: "no GPS device"
any idea
Thanks
PS: sorry for my bad english!!!
After flashing always make a HARD reset ( push gps button and explorer button and reset button with stylus then push green button 2 times ) and it 'll solve all your probleme
Thanks
but i does not change anything.
I just perform a hard reset and always unable to save my gps port parameters.
any other idea?
Your gps doesn't work or you can't save the port on windows gps settings?
i can't save the hardware port on windows gps settings
Why do you want to save it , when you launch tomtom/igo they found the gps automaticaly and it works fine.
There might be a problem with the settings in "External GPS" (under "connections" menu).
In my case it shows COM4 (programs tab) / (none) (hardware tab) / Manage GPS automatically (access tab)
And ofcourse both Tomtom and IGO8 are configured to use COM4.
if i am not configuring the GPS com port, tomtom are not able to find GPS device: "No GPS device found"
I try "Integrated GPS Device" and " GPS NMEA" with the same result.
I use TomTom 7.450.9028
I also use TomTom 7.450.9028 (and iGO8) with no problems........
My device is configured to use programs => COM4, hardware => (none) as I told you. Sorry if I can't help you more than this.........
i try the same parameter as you... and it works!!!
thanks
Nice to have helped you!

I knew it, i was looking for the settings.
Radio 1.59.42.15 seems to play havoc with Destinator
After upgrading a Polaris to the most recent HTC Official WM6.1 ROM (Portuguese) I started having problems with Destinator 7.
The device detects the GPS signal and then loses it every 20 seconds or so. If you go back to the GPS settings in Destinator, you see that the GPS Antenna is OK, with 7 or satellites, and then you go back to the map and it works for a while (another 20s) before it loses GPS signal again.
I tested this on 3 HTC Cruise and it is always the same.
I tried upgrading the radio but that didnt work because Radio 1.64.xx.xx doesnt seem to work on this ROM (no sound on calls, poor GSM/3G reception).
I also tried Radio 1.58.21.23, and that still gives me problems with GSM/3G.
Here is the info on the HTC ROM
R 1.59.42.15
G 25.69.30.05H
D 3.13.00.00
Has anyone been through this and found a way out?
Thanks
Andre
Did you try this Radio Rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2787760&postcount=262
It seems to be a better/newer one
Tried the ROM but
Scotty, thanks for the suggestion - that didn´t help, though.
Now, here´s the funny part: I decided to use Destinator 6 and guess what? It worked like a charm: 8 satellites in 30s, no loss of signal. Go figure!
Destinator 7 works on all other HTC devices and used to work on the BetaPortuguese ROM I had. I don´t really understand why the radio messes up with GPS so much. Still, I´m glad I found a solution.
Thank you for the support!
