Spam filter for Mail client - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Has anyone made a spam filter or something to sort messages with for WM6?
Just curious and looking. Would be a great project for someone that has the knowledge... hint hint

The spam filtering should be done at the server side so you never even download it. Gmail does a fine job of it for me.

Facebook Chat on Windows Mobile?

Anyone willing to work and craft a means so that Facebook Chat will work on Windows Mobile? Seems like a natural addition to any IM'ing that's already done on WM.
Any takers for the development?
ya that would be great
I was thinking about this recently, it really would make a great addition...
Perhaps this suggestion should be made to the Palringo developers as well.
Since I'm rather fond of Palringo now .
One would probably have to make a facebook application to acomplish this and also I don't think the facebook devs have opened up chat to application developers.
i like the idea since in recent days i've started using facebook chat.
if you use skyfire i believe you can use the facebook chat..
facebook chat app: any news?
Any news on this? I see pidgin now works with facebook on the desktop version. They say that it would take some effort to port pidgin to windows mobile so I don't see that happening yet. It does show that it is possible
code for pidgin app is at:
http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/
There is already a facebook application out there. Not sure if the creator minds if I post it. Besides, its freeware. I use it daily.

i've been using that app recently but, as far as i can tell, it doesn't have facebook chat.
So these apps ive tried on here does not have live chat. Does anything exist? I have skyfire but a window wont popup to let me chat. Waiting for facebook live chat on Win Mobile....
Yeigo has recently included Facebook chat in their application (along with the usuals like Skype/Googletalk/MSN etc). There is a Windows Mobile version as well as Symbian/Java.
You can download the app at www.getyeigo.com or visit www.yeigo.com for more information.

Thanks for the refrence... I tried Yeigo. It looks promising, however I'm having problems. I cant get my MSN contacts to populate. When I chat on facebook I can send messages but when people write back I dont get them.
Can someone else try this program and report back? I have a Tilt on AT&T edge. I have yet to try wifi.

Hey Praygo. We're currently having some issues with the MSN gateway so no one is receiving their MSN friends - we're working on this and hopefully everything will be back to normal by tomorrow.
The facebook code is pretty new so there might still be a few lingering bugs to sort out and we'll be watching for those. From my experience it's been working great. If you continue having issues send us an email at [email protected] and we'll see what we can do to sort you out.
Thanks,
Andrew

I tried Yeigo and i LOVE it. i have a moto q with alltel and i use it for facebook chat and it works great...only thing id want to see changed is the beep to maybe a sound and also a vibrate alert.
Fring has a facebook plugin. Not sure if it's for chat, but if a IM program has a facebook plugin I can only assume that it's for the chat feature....
Yeigo.com is hacked?
would love to try skyfire but its for U.S only and requires signup queue for beta users........

Email signature and reply all issues

Hi all,
Love the X1 but have a few niggles which bother me on a daily basis:
1. Email Signature
When ever I have reset the phone or lost power for some reason, my signature reverts to the "sent from my x1" signature. Have to change it back each time. Oddly, it only happens to the signature on my Exchange email, the Gmail one I use is not affected. It stays as what I set it as.
2. Reply All
I noticed this one on my crappy Omnia (had 3 in a row, all faulty). Must be a WM6.1 thing... When I am on the To part of the email, I select Reply All and it decides to send me my reply. How stupid!
Has anyone else seen these issues please?
Open the file explorer of your choice. Go to \Windows\Autostart\ or \Windows\Startup\ (depending on your ROM) and delete the file SignatureReplicator.exe, voila, you can now set your own exchange e-mail signature.
Thanks for that!! Brilliant answer.
I assume the Reply all issue just bothers all WM6.1 users and I have to live with it?

Regarding the reply all issues, check out the link below:
http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook_mobile/archive/2006/03/22/558605.aspx
Basically it is saying that Messaging does not really know who you are, so to work around that issue, you have to enter your email address for that account.
There are instructions shown in the link.
Hope it helps.
This is really nice to have this stupid little problem fixed, thanks!
Odd - if you set up a new account (I have a gmx account) you don't get these issues... I think it only applies to the default outlook inbox account. My GMX account is a seperate inbox........

Email gif Animation

Hello together.
I was searching quite some time, but I really don't have a clue of it.
Is there any way to get gif animation displayed in my email on the device?
When I recive a HTML email they are just static.
Well I've read that this is also in Windows Outlook 2007. Maybe it's the same issue.
If someone has a resolution for this, please tell.
And also I would like to make HTML Messages myself on the device.
Any possibility?
Thank you

For me its Menu\View\Get HTML
No, thats not the problem.
I have settings to get HTML download for instant. I don't have to get HTML download seperatly.
Anyway, thats not the Problem. I see pictures and backround of HTML Emails. but Gif is not animated.

And there are no limitations in your settings that would limit the attachment or size?
It may not be possible.
No, there is no Limit.
The whole mail is completly downloaded. I see the gifes at there right position, they are just not moving.
Well I think it's really not possible. But I still hope for a way out of it.
but thank you

E-mail text too large!

Has anybody noticed that regular e-mails that aren't in HTML, (like this forum, facebook, etc..), are displaying text TOO large? I have to size it down before I start reading it, and it's now starting to get to me! Does anybody else have this problem?
I am not seeing this issue.
-McMex
I wanted to take a picture of the e-mail reply from your response, but my camera is missing. And my HTC Hero takes HORRIBLE pictures... Sooo....
Maybe everybody is just used to it?
I agree. Waaaay too big, no wrapping of text, and it doesn't stay resized.

Well first of all are you talking about the built-in email program? Because i don't use it, prefer to use K-9 mail and i don't have this issue.
Well of course, otherwise I would have noted the program if I was using it...
K-9 isn't for me. I don't like using it as much as the stock program.
So hopefully they will fix it soon...
OK I now understand what you mean I use Touchdown so I didn't see it but I do know with gmail. I'm going to keep an eye out for a fix.

If i get you, you want something like whatsapp...
As far as i know, you will need different things:
A backend Server to manage and store users and manage files sended.
A client side with is the chat. If you doing it in Android, Java the process could be like this:
client get a list of friends, then stores in local files. To send a message, firstly can use push messages like GCM to send a message, if receiver is online with the conversation openned, it tries to stablish a socket connection to send messages each other. If no, then it uses the push GCM.
More or less like that....of course there are much more things to do and take care of.
hope i helped you a little with this info!

You can use backends like Google Cloud Messaging or Parse, they're well documented and easy to use, just go through their documentation,

thanks for the reply actually i researched a little and found the GCM is not a good choice for IM as sometimes messages are not delivered so as for parse i have no experience with that and i found something that i need to have some connection between my android app to server (running php and mysql database)
the point where i am stuck is that
How to connect the app to server ??
and how to give a user his personal pin or username so he can share with others to chat ??
thanks
