HTC has issued a ROM update from WM5 to WM6 for the P4000.
It's available for download on the HTC America site...
http://www.america.htc.com/support/p4000/software-downloads.html
I hope this comes as good news to those of you waiting (as I have been) for the update to WM6.
Cheers,
Mick
AWESOME FIND!! this is what i've been waiting for since i bought my p4000!
I been checking the Screen Capture in the WEB PAGE for this ROM at HTC and comparing with mine (I Have a MOGUL) and there is some difference with my ROM installed (the last one for the MOGUL, with the SPRINT MUSIC STORE), look a little more updated, I'm just wondering if i can install this ROM (supposedly only for TELUS) in my Sprint MOGUL without any problems.....THANKS
Well, as with the GSM HTC devices, you may need to play with your carrier ID... basically, every carrier brands their devices so that you don't "mess up" and install an update for the wrong device (if its the wrong hardware, the update WILL brick your phone).
Since the Telus and Sprint device in question are the same hardware, it should work. The trick is to fool the updater into working.
This isn't simple, and I'm not sure if anyone has done it yet with the Titan.
QUESTION FOR THOSE THAT HAVE INSTALLED THIS:
are you getting the bluetooth bug that is plaguing the spring Mogul users? How about the directdraw problems?
Does any one still have the ROM?
The site does not exist. HTC has removed the upgrade for this phone... I was wondering if any one still has the copy of this rom?

Hi all,
I would be buying a HTC P3600 in Dubai soon. The HTC site and the dealers here say that the trinity does not have a GPS.
Have read on this forum that having GPS is just a ROM update away. Having said that, how difficult (or easy) is it to flash the phone considering that I am an abject novice with PPC?
I would also love to have WM6 (with GPS ofcourse) on my phone. I know there is a ROM floating around this forum.
Here in Dubai we are not bound to any service providers so I will be buying an unlocked phone, so will the updated ROM work in my case?
Looking forward to the replies and do keep up the excellent work. This forum is one of the driving factors behind my decision to buy an HTC phone.
Warm regards,
Hiren

Great, now I look forward to buying the phone. Will keep the forum posted on my progress or lack of it .
I confirm there's no problem at all, even for non experts like me.
Just download the new rom from HTC site (50 MB), connect the P3600 , run the downloaded file and wait 10 minutes.
The only advise is to do a back-up of your P3600, as the upgrade will cancell everything.

If you buy a new Trinity/P3600 now, it may well come with GPS enabled anyway.
When you get it, tap Start/Settings, then the System tab (bottom of the settings screen) and then tap Device Information.
The 1st tab in Devcie Info is 'Version' and has a list of the ROM versions installed. Look at the Radio Version: if it ends in **.11, the GPS is already enabled. HTC's current ROM is 1.38.00.11, but ROM's from 1.30.00.11 were GPS enabled. If yours ends in **.10, then you need to update the Radio ROM.
Before going any further, and changing to WM6, which is still 'unofficial' and invalidates your warranty, I'd suggest getting familiar with the device and the OS. The differences between later versions of WM5 and WM6 are minimal!

Managed to check out the ROM of the Trinity's available in Dubai, its ending with .11, so that means its a GPS enabled one.
Now only if I had an idea about the other phones issues, I'd go out and buy one.

2 of 'em actually. One is the motherboard and the other is the flaking paints.
I don't have long nails but I did try scratching the phone at the store but the paint did not chip off.
My heart is still set on this phone though. I will soon be going back to India (another couple of months) and I'm not sure whether 2 months are enough to get the issues fixed. The other alternative would be to wait for the Kaiser but time frame is still unknown.
Regards
For what concerns the paint, buy it white, it is not as beautiful as the black one, but at least it does not have this problem

Yeah, thats an option but only as a last resort.
Is there anyway to get Blackberry connect to work on the TC? I've tried downloading it on the phone and activating it, but it just says pending?
If not what are some better ways of getting email to my TC besides Outlook thats built in!
Simply not at the moment....
Sorry I have tried everything but nothing do do...
We need to wait until a big company like voda, swisscom etc desides to support the Polaris.
Blackberry is blocked with a build number and exact Windows version from Microsoft including device type.
Have a good day
Romabn
New Rom comming soon
Hi, just got my Orbit 2 a couple of days ago from a shop. I told the guy that i wanted BB connect, and he said they didn't support it on the polaris. Then he told me (about 3 or 4 times) to keep an eye on the software update in the next days...i ask him and looks like this could be BB connect or WM7.
lets keep and eye and cross fingers!!

Bardo - Any news on this?
Orbit 2 update
Hi guys, sorry not yet...
What do you guys think
DO you think that its possible that BBC will ever be available for the Polaris. I tried the BBC on wife Touch and it works so i tot it would be the same as well for the Polaris so i took a gamble and went to buy it when its available. Unfortunately, it didnt work......so loss the gamble, but it is a nice and light device as compared to my Kaiser.
What do you guys think. Any hope.
Blabckberry Connect
Hi,
I have understood that the Blackberry connect must work without problems on any WM6 device.
I'm just wait to conform this to by a TOUCH CRUISE. Please can anyone comfirm if BB Connect WORK or NOT WORK on Touch Cruise and why?
Thanks in advance

Not at the momment. But im hopeful as i have a smartphone vox and it was working then after a while it stopped working. However, maybe some operator have got the vox to be able to work, and from then onwards it started to work. I guess i may be wrong but its perhaps the build number is different as i reason to believe that the current windows devices are ver 6 and the tc is 6.1, maybe thats why it is not working, as i have tried the bb connect on the htc touch aka elf and it worked flawlessly, so best bet is to see when a suitable windows 6.1 cab is release perhaps ver .92 or .93 then the tc will work.
BB Connect and Cruise
Thanks a lot....! I wait for confirmation on BB Connect before buy Cruise......
About BBC ... Guys! BBC check your OS Version and Device ID!! If you use custom Roms and they have a newer OS Version or a bad modded Device ID, you cant connect to the bbc network! Most time it works with the Original delivered rom only!
HTC Niki works with BBC 4.0, but it doesnt with a new cooked Rom.
Next ... if your Cell Phone Provider hasnt the right to use BBC 4.0, the Black Berry Network drops your PIN and you cant connect again!
You see ... a lot of parameters and licencings can make troubles!
Ergo ... if you use WM6.1 -> BBC drops your PIN!!!
BBC with brand new HTC Cruise......?

Each time I read more ...I'm more confused.... !
I just need to know, if with a out of the box Touch Cruise in Spain, I will be able to use on Vodafone net, BBC with my company BB Enterprise.
I understand in the message of xphobic that HTC Touch Cruise comes with WM 6.1, Is that correct?
Thanks

I'm a BB-connect user, but I'm thinking of buying the Touch Cruise. My network, Rogers supports BB-connect. Will BB-connect work? This is an important feature for me.
Hi, neither Rogers or Fido support BBC for anything other than nokia. You can install BBC but it will not generate a PIN. If anyone got to generate a PIN please let me know.
I'm running BB-connect on my Nokia E90. It generated a PIN automatically and I've been running it for the past two months. I need to know if the Touch Cruise supports BB-connect as well.
I was not able to set it up.

I had a response from someone quite senior in o2 in the UK - they do not intend to support Blackberry connect because RIM are stopping development on the client.

On a distribution WWE rom yes, on any other ROM, no.
I haven't heard of anyone able to get BBC working on the Cruise. This was discussed in another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376889
Another place where this was discussed is here:

I'm getting mixed answers. Some say it'll work with original ROM, not with cooked, some say it wont work at all. I'm worried now, I'm picking up a TC like tomorrow, and this is an important feature for me.

Possible in Germany on o2's release ROM I read somewhere.
If you are not using a release WM6 Pro Rom it wont work has been my experience with other devices.
o2 UK say that RIM are about to stop developing for the BBC for Windows Mobile and so they say they are no longer going to offer BBC support for new models.

Has anyone out there had sucess with installing Blackberry Connect on the US version of the HTC Touch Dual and operating as designed? I had blackberry connect working on my two HTC Touch's but need to have it on the HTC Touch dual since this is my new primary business phone. Can anyone lend some direction on the situation?

bb version
I am trying to get to work with the neon200, which it seem like the same model as the U.S version. What version of bb connect have you try? With the previous HTC touch that you got it to work, was it flash with custom ROM or was it original ROM?

Does it have to be WM6.1? What Rom are you running. I´ve made a custom rom for the Neon, you can try that. I dont have a blackberry account so i really cant try.
I´m trying to port to wm6.1 and i´ve asked if someone would be kind enough to dump a rom of a US Touch Dual but so far no one has been kind enough to do so.

My original HTC Touch was equipped with the orginal ROM and I used the 4.0..97 BB connect. It worked on both of my touch phones but this touch dual is different. I wouldn't mind using another ROM but I do not want to loose my radio version because it is configured for 850 which I need here in the states. My windows mobile is 6.1. I really like this phone but I need BB connect to be operational on the unit otherwise I cannot be efficient with my business.
Below are my device specs:
ROM Version: 2.21.422.04
ROM Date: 05/06/08
Radio Version 1.65.20.19
Protocol: 25.86.40.04w
I couldn't get it to work with the stock Rom on the Touch Dual I bought at Best Buy. I don't know why it works with some phones like the Tilt but not others.
I was able to install it but when I tried to get BB Connect Active Sync to configure my Enterprise server config I got the PIN 0 error.
I remember wasting so much time with either the Wizard or another phone last year and just don't have the time to research further.
Same here. Have had it working on another Touch, as well as other WinMo phones, but don't want to spend a ton of time again to get this working. Why must RIM be such idiots and make it so hard?! Create one client, limit the capability so a RIM hardware device is always better somehow[like 10 email accounts in BIS, versus only 3 on the WinMo client], but don't limit the devices that can use a BBC client! It makes no sense really...
HTC made a big deal about 5 devices having BB Connect, but the Diamond2 which IMHO is the best looking device HTC has released has no BB Connect.
Has anyone got it working with other cabs?? I have tried several but the issue seems to be the WM6.1?
Am I the only one
I had a lot of problems with BB and my previous HD. Now I'm still waiting for my diamond 2 so I can't test... Have you tried with the 4.0.0.103? (you can find it here http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?entry_id=276 )
Yeah, tried all sorts... always hard resetting be trying another to be on the safe side, sim is out of my BB and have got working on my TYYN2 before so no issues ion the plan side etc. Just the device
I'm looking for a BB Connect solution as well.
The .103 cab installs fine for me, but it won't actually connect to the BB server.
Don't know if it's the app not working, or if it's my carrier.
I suspect my carrier only supports true BlackBerry phones, and not BB Connect, as I wasn't able to register my BB Connect PIN/IMEI on the config site. It will only register the other BlackBerrys I have.
I've been through the cycle of trying to get the right bbconnect software to work with the right device every time HTC give us a new release.... there are various reasons why some versions do and do not work but often the solution is patience and waiting for the right software, but occasionally its just a matter of getting the most up to date version - This is the >>LINK<< to version 106 - HTC's latest sponsored version at the moment - it works perfectly on the Touch HD and so "may" work on the D2 - I would suggest a clean install rather than an "upgrade".....
Let us know how you get on? If it doesnt work we can look at other solutions such as registry tweaks and HKLM adjustments...
Good luck

I tried the 106 on a "clean" install without luck... the device shows the dreaded pin pending!
What exactly is BB Connect? I looked it up on google Blackberry services on non blackberry device? To use it I assume you'd have to be on a Blackberry contract?

BB Connect is software used with a number of Non BB devices, WM devices, Nokia Devices, all sorts.... I have used it over many years, but the challenge is always with a new device. And right now it does not want to work with the Topaz
spent last night hacking/tweaking but still no luck... come on HTC get it sorted!
Managed to get my TD2 to connect and return a PIN number today using 4.0.0.106, although it doesn't seem to be working now
Ran 4.0.0.106 on my Kaiser (on T-Mobile UK) and it worked fine, moved to O2 and it looks like it could be a problem
Anyone managed to use an HTC handset (unlocked) on O2email via WM 6.1 ?
i am missing the pin although I have been getting an IP Address??
See the solution here
I just switched to AT&T from Verizon and purchased the HTC Pure. Is this the same as the Topaz? I thought the Pure was the next gen of the Touch Diamond2.
Also, if you know, does GPS work out the box or would I need to update the Radio and ROM? I don't have the phone just yet because I ordered it a few hours ago, but I want to know because I have a month to test it out and see if I want to keep it.
I came from having an HTC Titan for quite some time so I'm pretty used to flashing new ROM and such, but I don't want to mess with the new phone too much in those first 30 days -incase I need to return it.
Thanks.
The Pure is a re-cased Topaz. Hardware (internal) wise they are identical. It's AT&T's brand name (Like the Himalaya being an XDAII on O2, MDA 1000 on Orange).
The Tilt 2 is the HTC Touch Pro 2.
The GPS should work out the box with Google Maps. You'll need to install mapping software if you want voice prompts etc.
Shiny!
So Is there a TomTom app for the phone (possibly free)?
Also how good of a reception would you say the FM radio gets?
