i really appreciate any feed back.

It would be really neat to be able to put my Wizard into 'host' mode on the wifi, and share my EDGE access out to wifi clients nearby. It'd be like having my own wifi hotspot in my pocket.
Is this possible?
this post and most others like them gets ignored by most of this forum.
Or so it seems from my month on and off reading.
Ofcoarse this is possible?
will software or service agreements allow it? most likly not.

I wonder why, I think its a nice thing to have, and there exists AP with 3g cards like LINKSYS WRT54G3G
/L
with software it would be possible i think
just a matter of making the device rount
the wifi to the connection
but edge and even 3g is not really fast enough to share with anybody without comming down to a crawl
which is prob why there have been no demand and so
no developing for the field
gprs/edge > BT > PC >WiFi > WLAN
easy to do, conect to data service throught your computer with BT or USB then in settings share internet connection (via Wifi) with other users.

another painfull way, but may work for u.
I think it has something to do either with no one caring/caring about terms of service possibly.
Hello everybody,
I am new to the PDA community having bought my first Pocket PC, an IPAQ 214, a few days ago. I am still trying to figure out what software to use to get productive with that thing. It's all a bit different from normal PCs.
However, I installed Opera 9.5 beta (and also the Wifi update from HP of June 2008) and find that web browsing is really slow compared to the other computers which connect to the same wireless router. I suspect that there is some problem with the wireless connection but the wifi info doesn't really give a lot of detail. I am really wondering with what connection speed the IPAQ is connecting. WifiFofum does not give such information, neither does WifiKnife. PocketWiNc doesn't want to work at all, complaining about not finding a wifi device.
But maybe I totally on the wrong track and the rendering does already exhaust the capabilities of the IPAQ.
Has anybody an idea how I can find the problem? Are there freewares giving more information about the connection? Any suggestions how to improve the internet browsing experience?
Many thanks,
Bob
Hallo everybody!
I want to know if there is any soft for WM, to catch wi-fi with ppc and share it through USB to PC. And if it exists could anyone share it? Thank you in advance...
Sounds like you'll be using your phone as a repeater? Sounds like a good idea.
As you already know you can share your 3G connection via USB. There's also this app,
PPC Wi-Fi Router
that allows you to make a router out of your connection as well. The phone as a repeater might not be available, yet. I may be wrong.
Someone else wish to chime in?
Thank you for reply, My laptops Wifi got broken so I wanted to connect Wifi through my Blackstone. And 3g connection is very expensive in my country (approximately 80 cent for 1mb). That's why I want to use Wifi.
Some people have tested gs2 wifi direct with other wifi device without success.
It work only with other wifi direct certified device.
From the reference web site: "... Wi-Fi Direct-certified devices can form connections with nearly all the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices you and your friends already have..."

Why Samsung Wifi Direct is it limited?
sorry for my english
Same problem here, no way to make it work.
Not even one guru knows where is the problem? In the samsung's software or in the description of the wifi-direct site?
Tnx.
C'mon guys ..
Where are the settings for wifi direct
i'd really like to know how to use wifi direct too. the only hint at what to do is in a android forums post where they talk about kies air, but as far as i understand, and in practice on my device, kies air requires you to be connected to the same wifi network - i.e. it works like dlna, not wifi direct. when i go to wifi direct settings and try to scan, it never finds anything.
trying to connect to a network from the pc end using the details under "configure wifi direct" doesn't do anything ether.
please, if anybody has it working, let us know how you did it!

thankyou, but it doesn't work like that for me. the phone example was two wifi direct devices connecting (which i don't have) and the pc was ether wifi direct certified too or im doing something wrong. is there a special server client or something to install to enable wifi direct on a laptop? as i said, i have tried entering the same network details as are shown in the wifi direct settings manually, and tried waiting for ages since the guy in the video says it takes a while, but no luck so far.
Hey guys... The wifi-direct certifier said, that they got a galaxy s II with a fully working wifi direct. They cant explain why samsung limited this feature...
Samsung didnt make a statement yet.
I hope i can add the source tomorrow (read in on a popular online magazine)
Edit: Source
I guess you can translate it via google translate. Going to bed now
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
thanks a lot for this article
also Lg Black has problems with wifi direct
I have been using the iconia (also my first android device) for a about a week now and I love it, but I have been searching everywhere for a way to connect my blackberry phone over Bluetooth so I can tether.. and I've had no luck. I know its possible to with an android phone, so I know its at least capable of doing so.. just needs something to help. When I use to use an iPod, I used an app called ibluever to connect and tether my bb as a modem, and was hoping to see if anyone could make something like that for this? (I will pay for it)
My main uses for this tablet is portability, internet, and fun and I feel like if I can't find a way to tether than I will probably just return this and buy a ipad 2 since I know I can tether and do most of the same things android offers. I'm not an apple fan boy by anymeans, and I don't really even want an ipad, Im almost just thinking I might get more use out of it if this is the case ya know
Blutooth DUN is not supported by Android, and it does not looks like this is going to happen in the next future.
Neverthess keep in mind that sharing your HSDPA connection via bluetooth , offers you some poor performances due to the fact that the bluetooth bandwith can not exceed 1mb/s
The most effcient solution ( as far as internet sharing performance is concerned ) would be to replace your blackberry with an Android phone, an Iphone or a Nokia, that can all support wifi tethering.
